The Chicago Wolves are an amazing hockey team, part of the AHL, and don't get as much recognition as they deserve. They're currently number one in the West Division and we've got #1 top scorer - Hayden and #3 top scorer - Sterling in the AHL. The team has been notably successful, never in its history suffering a losing season and winning the IHL's Turner Cup in 1998 and 2000 and the AHL's Calder Cup in 2002.
But in the same token, where else can you get front row tickets against the glass and next to the players for only $40 per ticket?! What a steal and what a great experience! Hence, my pick for the January monthly date was HOCKEY. Their season tickets are super affordable and parking is not bad at all - $11/game and if you get season tickets, parking can be anywhere from free to discounted as low as $100/season.

You have to love living in an original six hockey town , and having a minor league team that out performs and probably out draws them , sigh. If you have never been to a Wolves game , they put forth a massive effort to deliver family friendly entertainment. Nothing is quite like seeing a NHL caliber game , but when it's been years since the Hawks have delivered a team that was even in the top half of the league talent wise , you have to know when to say when. I haven't been here in a while , but you can sit front row for under $40 and have an awesome time. See the stars of tomorrow , play for a team that actually tries to win , and pay prices that are way easier to afford than the NHL.
