Oh~ This place had the potential of being a 4+ rating.  It's a shame.

We came here In search of a good romantic date spot, somewhere with the right ambiance, good drinks, and music.  Somewhere nice, instead of the usual pubs or the local TGIF or Buffalo Wild Wings bar.  Somewhere in the suburbs because a trip to the city where date spots are abundant was not an option.

Since we already had dinner, we sat at the bar table for appetizers and drinks.  The ambiance was nice.  It reminded me of the Melting Pot in Novi, MI where everything is new and shiny with red oak and marble, the lighting is just right, and there was their version of live music (A DJ that sings live, karaoke style.  It would have been a minus but he was very talented).  Their waitstaff was extremely nice along with the bar manager who constantly made sure we were doing good, but not in an annoying way.
The downside is that the food took wayyyy too long to come out.  We ordered some scallops and a few other dishes which took almost an hour to come out.  If we didn't have good conversation or hadn't had a bite to eat before hand, it would have been much worse.
Their appetizers were decent but can be better.  The scallops itself were good but the cajun sauce it came with tasted like El Paso picante sauce and their tenderloin fell apart like bricks.
The drinks however was strong, which is the way I like it, which is a big plus.  The dessert took another half hour to come out, but was one of the best tasting tiramisu I had in Chicago.
Overall, with faster food service this place is easily a 4+ star establishment.

I went here a few months ago for work. I think the location was selected because it was new. They pride themselves on having the top 2% or so steaks. I found this place very unsatisfactory for steak. It's am embarrassment to Midwest steakhouses. They mention their burners are IR, and the steaks come out charred and with no accent of flavor. The Medium Rare Fillet I got was average, I did not care for how they prepared it even though the cut was something slightly better than supermarket quality. If it's that good of a cut and prepared right, it should melt when a butter knife touches it. The preparation was still a bit tough.

Also, the two bottles of wine we got were worst than boxed wine (that stuff is starting to get pretty good). I can imagine getting one poor bottle, but two? I think their somalie needs to restock their wine list.

I'm sorely let down by Chicago Prime for their ribeye. It was tough to cut through. While the kind spouse thought it was well flavored, I thought it lacked any.

My steak Diane was fine. Just fine. Even our mushroom soup was ordinary.

Their a la carte sides, though big, was nothing to write home about either.

I was part of a big group and we were given 2 complimentary appetizers --- stuffed mushrooms and an equally mediocre appetizer that escaped my memory.

The saving grace was the key lime pie, which I'm not sure if it was made in-house or from a vendor.

We spent more than $100 and never felt more burned after our earlier experience at another acclaimed steakhouse at Morton's.

You'd be better off at Ruth's Chris, with another location close by in Hoffman Estates/South Barrington, a mere 15 minutes away.

This restaurant has moved to a new location on Algonquin just east of Meacham Ave.  New location, new review.

Before I get started, it's worth noting the differences between the prior restaurant and this new location.  The food is still excellent, but beyond that, Chicago Prime became a lot swankier.  I was very impressed by the design and decoration of the restaurant.  It's very tasteful and sleek.  Right now, it's the best looking restaurant in Schaumburg.

Now the food, for an appetizer we tried:
Thai Shrimp was excellent.  Very tasteful and perfectly battered.  Probably the biggest shrimp I've seen and it was cooked and a unique dish, which I liked.
Escargot was great.  Coincidentally, I've had escargot the past two weeks at Le Bouchon and Cafe Bernard in the city and Chicago Prime's was better than both.
Stuffed mushroom caps with crab meat:  I would take a pass o n these next time.  I don't think the crab, cheese and mushroom are a good combo.

I ordered the Macadamian Nut Halibut.  I could have eaten ten of them.  Light, crunchy with substance.  The dish reminded me of the Halibut I had at the famous Roys in Hawaii.

My friends ordered the bone in ribeye and a Mediterranean chicken dish.  The steak was tender and juicy.  Chicago Prime only uses prime cuts.  From what the waiter said, this distinction covers less than 2% of the supply of meats.  They also wet age their steaks, which explains why the meat is so tender.  The chicken surprised me.  I know it's a steak house, but I'll probably order the chicken.  It was exceptionally good.

Chicago Prime has a large wine list.  We drank two bottles of red wines.  They were both in the $35-40 price range and we enjoyed them.  The first Bottle was the Estancia Cabernet and the second was a Sangiovese that's slipping my mind.

As far as the bar goes, it was very busy.  The ages start at 35, so it's an older crowd or as I like to call us, a "smarter crowd".

I love the Chicago Prime Steakhouse - I used to go to the other one on Meacham ALL of the time and still prefer that layout, the smaller rooms kept a more intimate feeling.  That said I believe everything is just as good - the shrimp bisque is still available.  I love the special medallions with wine reduction, hoping they'll bring that back...  Waiter was very good with a personality.  My husband's filet was excellent as was my filet diane, the cheesy potatoes and asparagus perfect too.  Very good lemon drop martinis.  Thank you ~

Went here for a long anticipated dinner tonite.  I was not completely satisfied.  Although they did try to repair the terrible hollandaise sauce and and sadness called asparagus by comping us some tira misu, which was delish, they didn't make my favorite list.

Their menu is a full steak house menu including a surf n turf for about 70$.  The atmosphere is quite nice, with three different sections, including a bar for the smokers to break to.

Our order this evening was:
Prime Rib, medium rare.
Fillet Mignon, medium
Asparagus came with the worst hollandaise I've ever had(try square kitchen for the best)
Manhattan clam chowder was the soup of the day - ABSOFAB!
Salad with peppercorn dressing - ABSOFAB
Iced Tea, home made and very yum
4 shot latte that came with only two, so i asked him to make it four and he brought me 2 on the side.  made it rather complicated, but once i made room and added them, the latte was perfect.

Tony, our server was very attentive but there were dirty dishes on the table for longer than I cared to look at them.  The manager came to the table a few times and comped us the tira misu after hearing my disagreeing feelings toward their sauces.

Our bill came to 89$ before we ordered a chocolate cake to go(working on a $100 gift cert) and bringing the total to $97.00.  After a little hassle, I told the manager to just add $3 extra so that we could use all our gift certs for the bill(they often use that 2 for 1 from the radio stations) but he seemed to prefer if i took back $25 cert and paid the diff in cash.  Of course I voiced my opinion on this too and he abided, in essence, we ended up paying for the comped tira misu when it came down to it! Thats gratitude eh?

All in all, a very nice steak house, but I'll bet their fish would more be my favorite from here IF I wasn't holding out for prime rib all day.

This place is no Lawry's (http://www.yelp.com/bi...).  Sure, this upscale suburban restaurant has excellent service and decor, but for the price, it was a disappointment.  Their prime rib ($32) just was average at best.  Asparagus was over cooked and lacked 'fresh' texture.  Bread was so-so.  I did like their large selection of wines by glass, including several types of house wines at $6.50.

Note that they have limited availability on prime ribs, so if that's want you want, call first to check.  They often don't have prime ribs on weekday nights, which was disappointing for a place named 'Prime Steakhouse.'

What's with their complementary valet parking?  Too lazy to park your vehicle and walk 20 yards?

I go to nice steakhouses all the time and this is one of my favorites. I seem to always end up there when I am in Schaumburg. To start off, this place is so beautiful. Great decor, I really like the Chicago skyline in the dining room. My fav appetizer is the thai buffalo shrimp and shrimp cocktail. The thai buffalo shrimp is got a nice kick to it and I like the chopped scallions on top of it. The shrimp cocktail is a classic, their cocktail sauce is so delicious! A great salad there is the chopped salad, the vinaigrette is well balanced with the avocado slices. Their bread they serve goes so well with this salad I usually eat to much of it haha.  For main courses, I really like the Berkshire Porkchops. They are so perfectly cooked and they serve it with mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I love that they offer grilled asparagus and the side dish is a very good size portion. Their steaks are so tender, I love a great prime steak. Their au jus makes it that much better. I would love to find out how they make it. I am not a crazy wine snob but they have a great wine list. Dessert for me is key lime pie, try it and thank me later. I will be back for sure.

Chicago Prime is a gem.  I had to meet my parents in the burbs on a Saturday night.  The traffic on the way back downtown looked horrendous, so my fiance and I decided that we'd treat them to a nice dinner in the burbs.  I was thinking either Morton's, Maggianos, or Chicago Prime.  I haven't been to any of them, but through word of mouth I had heard that they were pretty good for suburban haunts.  There were 5 of us total so I was pretty skeptical we'd get in anywhere.  I made a phone call and made a reservation for 8:30 (I called at 7:45).  I was surprised Chicago Prime said yes.  When we got there it was early, like 8:05.  The place was packed.  I never thought we'd get our table on time. Every table was filled.  We all went to the very crowded bar, but people let me in to order drinks, and the bartender was very attentive, and even a little flirty..... my fiance just loved that, but it's just the way it goes.  Next thing I knew it was 8:30 and a hostess was tapping me on the shoulder saying my table was ready.  I was pretty impressed with that.  The decor is reminiscent of a little Gibson's, a little Carmines, and a little Tavern on Rush.  Lots of wood, low lighting.  Real candle sconces on all the walls.  The waiters wear the traditional steakhouse white smocks.  The cuts are brought to your table by a very professional waiter with a great memory.  I had the Prime Rib, and it was cooked and marbled perfectly.  I noticed another reviewer said he didn't like it much, but I just must have gone on a great night.  The wine list is very nice, with many options and many price ranges to choose from.  The portabella mushroom appetizer with garlic is one of the best flavors in the world.  I was just in total shock.  Now, I'm not saying that Chicago Prime is better than a Morton's, or anything like that, but for what I expected, I was very pleasantly surprised.  I really did enjoy it more than Gibson's.  The next time I have to eat in the burbs, I will be more than happy to go back.  Complimentary valet parking too.  There is a parking lot, but it fills up and you have to park in the office lots nearby, so when it's cold or you have a date, the valet is handy.  Almost a 5 star, but I'm just too much of a city snob to give 5 stars to Schaumburg.
