Miami, FL
Stayed here while on a business trip last week and I thought it was great. The service was awesome. The people at the front desk were so friendly and eager to help, making my trip very enjoyable (Angela & Megan were the http://bomb.com). I stayed in a newly renovated room, which was lovely. There was complimentary coffee every morning and apple cider at night, in addition to a business center with two computers and a printer for your convenience.
I ordered room service one night and the prices were pretty reasonable and the food was great too.
To be honest, as much as I would love to stay here, it's too far outside the city (about 40 minutes when traveling via CTA). A CTA stop is right behind the hotel, so that's also convenient for business travelers that want to stop in in Chi-town for lunch or dinner. -

Uhhh yeah. So here is the deal. The signs that say "excuse our dust" should really say "excuse our jackhammer pounding of walls and floors above your room."
I'm gonna have to say avoid this location until their remodeling project is done. For all the work going on, it was not shown in the room I was given which appeared to have 1970's style carpet.
Not a fan. -

Stayed here one night after a canceled flight. Rooms are very dated and not on par with typical Marriott hotels. It took about two hours for someone to deliver a toothbrush to my room, but other than that, service was OK. The restaurant in the lobby was quite good.
As far as airport hotels go, however, there are much better options. -

This hotel sucks.
1) Its creepy and outdated big time!
2) The room is damp and smells like Lysol
3) It took about 2.5 minutes to get from the lobby to my room. My room (177) requires you to walk down 2 football field size hallways to get there. God for bid you need to get back to the lobby. You need to give yourself a few minutes.
4) The bathroom is the size of a NYC apartment closet. Can barely fit
5) The TV is from 1985 (havent even turned it on? Does it have a remote?)
6) NO WI-FI
7) $13 FOR INTERNET FOR A SINGLE DAY!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!??
EEEK me thinks not! If you can avoid this place...please do. -

Since 1995, I've stayed at the Marriott O'Hare every couple of years and its still a good functioning hotel. But its just not what it used to be.
I stayed there Aug 26 '10 since I had a 6:30am flight at O'Hare the next and didn't want to miss it. I was able to use my United airline miles as payment which was a plus. I like the hotel because of its convenience: an airport shuttle (every 20 mins), right next to the Chicago "el" stop on the Blue line Cumberland stop, and right next to i90 highway Cumberland exit. Also there is an indoor and outdoor pool which is also nice. And its a non-smoking hotel which is a joy. The bed is my room was very comfy, but it felt like the mattress was bigger than the platform it was on.
But I did notice that they've cut back a great deal since my last visit. Room service is now only from 6am-12pm, so I couldn't get any breakfast before my crack-a-dawn flight (it used to be 24 hrs). Some of the usual hotel toiletries in the bathroom were missing (i.e. shower cap). And my room had a weird smell - dont' know if it had been empty for a while or someone was smoking or what. Also, the nightly rate they charged wasn't worth what you got in your hotel room. Sunday night rates are always high in Chicago, but $179 per for an average (at best!) room with barely any amenities is ridiculous. Not even a flat screen TV for pete's sake.
In many ways, this hotel should've gotten 2-stars, but again the convenience is always a big plus. And the hotel staff rocks!! Nicest people in the world. At least they got that right! -

Chicago, IL
Stayed here last night and it was awesome. A friend and me wanted something different to do so we decided to get a room here so we can swim and have a nice dinner.
The pool is top notch. The indoor pool is connected to the outdoor pool by a divider that you swim under. It's really cool to go out to the outdoor pool when it's a little bit cold out. They keep it open all year round and when it's really cold it's really steamy pretty sweet. Plenty of clean towels and the whirlpool was clean and hot.
We didn't go to any of the hotel restaurants, but She and I ordered a pizza from room service, and it was surprisingly very good. The sauce was flavorful and there were ample toppings on it. They have a deal where you get a pizza and 4 beers for 25.00 and that is the way to go. The pizza was better than dominos and arrived in a little under twelve minutes which is ok in my book.
The bed in the place is what I want my bed to be when I grow up. It is huge, has lots of pillows and is the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Don't get any dirty ideas kiddos she likes woman, but if you wanted to get down and dirty the bed is big enough to hold an orgy of at least 6 people! The price of the room was very reasonable for a weekend night on short notice. I rented the room for under 70, which is a steal in my book. I love coming to this place it's like going on a little mini vacation. -

I hate hotels. HATE THEM. To me, the beds are always uncomfortable, the sheets are scratchy, and I can never stop thinking about what a black light will do to the place. Ick. I stayed at the Marriott a couple nights for a friend's wedding, and it wasn't like a hotel at all. It was like a wonderful little apartment.
Let me slip into realtor mode for a second... it was a lovely two bedroom, two bathroom, fully furnished, new kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances (including dishwasher and microwave!), flat screen TVs in every room, floor to ceiling windows, spacious living and dining room, new carpeting, gas burning fireplace, and a personal coffee maker!
Seriously, my best friend scored the deal of the century when she put her wedding party up here. The cabinets even had dishes for us to use. You walked into the living/dining area, and the rooms were on either side of the living room for maximum privacy. There was complimentary breakfast in the morning, and we're not just talking donuts -- there was fruit, yogurt, granola, and bagels. SOMEONE wanted to get married in the middle of January, so sadly, the outdoor pool wasn't up and running. Parking was free and no hassle at all, a wonder considering this place is across the street from the Allstate Arena.
I'd recommend the Marriott to anyone staying in the area, especially for an extended period of time. You really feel like you're in someone's apartment, not just a room with a bed and a TV. I don't know if all the rooms are as great as the one I stayed in, but I was really pleased that it felt more like a cozy apartment than a sleazy hotel room.Listed in: Hello, Suburbia

**3.5 stars**
Spent two nights at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare - the hotel feels like it has been around - in fact, my cab driver told me thought the hotel was as old as Dulles International Airport.
As old the hotel may be - it is a nice hotel, well maintained and clean. The hotel staff were friendly and happy to help, answer questions, and such.
Cons:
- My bed totally lacked support - I need a firm mattress. The second day I awoke with back spasms - a pinched nerve in my lower back - this typically happens to me when I get a mushy or overly soft mattress.
- The rooms still have older analog style, CRT-based TVs - c'mon guys - it's time to switch the rooms over to HD TV and HD service.
- The hotel is just a few minutes from Chicago O'Hare International Airport - and is directly in the path of the airport. As such - a lot of airplanes fly directly over the hotel - and fairly low - noise could be an issue depending on where your room is.
Pros:
- Friendly staff
- Nice rooms - other than the beds and TVs
- Free shuttle to the Airport -

Soo many hotels... why... WHY this one???
First of all, It's a bit old and far from everywhere.
Second, Shuttle bus goes only from airport to hotel (Comparing to other hotels around the area that they are able to take them to the Rosemont convention, Other Hotels).
Third - Are you charging me for Internet????
Absurd!
Guess Recession is not Affecting them?? -
Review from Carrie S.
I stayed/used banquet hall facilities at this hotel for a local wedding. Its hideous exterior really hides how nice this hotel is. When we got there early for pictures, the front desk managed to find us a room to put our stuff away in. They were extremely helpful.
Speaking of the banquet hall space, it was amazing. The facilities were extremely clean and nice in general. The grand ballroom was huge and managed to fit 500 people in there comfortably for a long ceremony. My favorite feature about the banquet halls would have to be the coolest Tiki room ever. I felt like I was walking into an episode of Tiki Bar TV or the 50's. The room had bamboo walkways, waterfalls, and tiki huts. This room served as the cocktail hour and it made it so much fun. The cocktail hour food was yummy with vegetable samosas and malai chicken. It was very good. The main ballroom later converted for dinner and dancing was nice and comfortably sat lots of people. The dinner was again excellent.
The room was comfortable with a large king size bed and the basic amenities. It was your average hotel room nothing too special. Our room was at the end of the hallway, so it was quite a walk to the elevators and the ballrooms.
Overall, I enjoyed staying here. I especially liked the Tiki room the best. -

Stayed here for 3 days for work. Location is great. Otherwise it's about average.
Hotel is worn around the edges. It seems to be from a bygone era. I stayed in the "B" wing on the ground floor. I had a pool side room. Being down that low and not facing the highway made for a decent nights sleep. It spared me most of the traffic and airplane noise.
I always say that the carpet is the key when rating a room. The carpet was worn. It was a dark green color from another era. The furniture was rather old fashioned too. Think grandma's house. The ceiling was low giving the room a cell block feel. The bed was good, but not great. The bathroom was small, but nice enough. Got the job done.
My rate was $129/night. It's about worth that. -

the rooms are fairly small. With the bed, the desk, the little table they have to put there for some reasons, the chair and the tv, you're all cramped up. The plus, the AC / heat is deliciously inaudible. The -, the doors totally slam, and the plumbery is incredibly noisy, if your neighbor take a shower, it wakes you up.
Beds and bedding stuff, very comfy -

I attended a medical conference here at the Marriot OHare. It have not been here a long time, probably several years. No matter, the olace is nice. The facilities, the banquet halls were comfortable and professional. The staff was accomodating and courteous. The event ran all day. The staff was on the ball, constanly cleaning up and following up. There Marriot Staff provided pens, writing pads, candy and cold water, self service water coolers in the back of the room. I could not rate the hotel room because honestly, didnt stay overnight. I can rate the ballroom, banquet room and conference rooms. The service and facilities are very good. I would recommend the Marriot for business meetings and conferences.

Hotel is a bit old and dated. There was a dirty sock left by someone behind the curtain of the large bay window for the room. I only had to stay for one night for a meetings. While the hotel is okay and relatively clean I did have to walk through the indoor pool to get to my room.
I would have given this place 2 stars based on room and the pool issue except for the staff. The staff at this hotel were excellent. They were polite, friendly, and willing to go the extra mile to help me and deal with my schedule. I would stay again for work related travel if I am in the area again.
Not necessarily the first pick for me regarding a vacation as it is out of the way. -
Review from Sam V.
Houston, TX
This place is not necessarily convenient, but it was a good place for a conference I just attended. The conference facilities were newly renovated and looked really nice, although the constant flow of staff and their trolleys through the "crowd" at the conference was inconvenient.
The rooms were definitely older. But the beds were new and extremely comfortable. And there is no wireless in the entire hotel. Get a room facing the pool area when you check in and you'll be able to sit out on a balcony or patio facing the pool, which is nice. The rooms here are definitely overpriced, though ($170 per night).
One thing I really loved: The homemade granola they served at breakfast. That stuff was crack. -

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this hotel as part of a wedding party. While the actual wedding held here was amazing, the room was far from that.
When we walked into the hotel room we first noticed how old and out dated the room was. It was also significantly smaller than the room our other friends stayed in just a few doors down. After turning on some air conditioning to alleviate the swampy feel and smell the room had, we looked up near the air vent to see that the top of the wall was covered in MOLD for about 3 feet worth of an area. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Of course I went down to talk to the front desk where Edward did do a nice customer service job and offered me to move to a different floor. Unfortunately, we had reserved a room close to the bridal suite as I would be assisting the bride and needed to be near. Because of that we did not want to move floors away. So instead Edward said they would try and clean it when we were at dinner. The cleaning crew left us a note and 2 cheapey bottles of water saying, "Sorry for the wall. Have some water on the house." -Keeping dept. (Not that it matters, but it wasn't the Fiji water they sell in the room but rather 2 mini off brand bottles.) Not your fault, keeping dept, MOLD WON'T JUST WIPE OFF.
On top of everything, we could hear the noise from the highway all night. More importantly, MOLD IN THAT AMOUNT DOES NOT APPEAR OVERNIGHT! That is a serious health hazard and proves the lack of care the Marriott takes in their rooms. If there is MOLD on my wall, do I really think the rest of the room was taken care of well? NOPE!
In an area where there are tons of hotel options, this would not even be considered when I go back again. -

Best place in Chicago for early check in after flying in and late check outs for late flights home.

Stay here several times monthly for work. Always happy. The front desk is super attentive and nice. The beds are so cozy, it' impossible to not sleep. The girls in the restaurant downstairs are great. I do agree with the other reviewer, Gino's is also a great place to eat, cheaper than the hotel restaurant. My only complaint is that some of the rooms are so far from the front entrance, it literally takes you 10 minutes to walk from your room to the front desk. That's a bummer when you're tired, and rolling your luggage with you at the end of the day.

This place has the best customer service of ANY hotel I've ever been to. I arrived earlier than expected days before my reservation and they not only found me a room it was a huge upgrade and they gave me the same price of my original reservation. Get to the concierge lounge the breakfast and afternoon snacks worth it! I can't say enough of how accomodating the staff are. They treated me like they were hooking up a family member. I've traveled a bunch and never had this level of service in places with 5 star rating. Don't let the exterior fool you great place to stay.

Review from Bill M.
This Marriott is not to be confused with the Marriott Suites just a bit west of here. This Marriott is a larger hotel, but its exterior really looks dated. This Marriott is just north of the Cumberland "L" station on the CTA Blue Line and not too far from O'Hare Airport.

For a "full service" Marriott property it's very basic. The manager at the front desk is this raging queen named Edward, so be on guard; he may be in a bitchy mood when you approach him. The other employees and the valet staff are very attentive and quick to help you. Parking is ridiculous; $30 a night... for Chicago that's high, and considering this is by the airport, it's highway robbery. The rooms are clean, plus the A/C is quiet and super cold!! Finally, internet access will set you back another $13 per day; a bit pricey, but if you're there on business chances are you can expense it. Don't bother with the restaurant in the hotel unless you need ice water; Gino's East is next door.

Here for business, and was SHOCKED that they didn't have wireless internet in the hotel...what is this, 1999? First hotel I've been in in a while that hasn't had that option. Anyways, the rooms are pretty average, the parking is expensive, and the restaurant is fairly bland. So, 3 stars.

I stay here every year and I must say this place is a bit of a money pit! They nickel and dime you for almost everything! I hate the fact that they charge for parking but I can see why because the "L" is in the rear parking lot. The beds are always comfy, service is usually great, I'd suggest changing the air filters in this place because I always leave with reddish eyes.

I didn't stay here, but was working at an event. I had a lot of contact with two employees of the hotel, and they're both outstanding. Shantel Bridges and Aaron (didn't get his last name) work with events and they're both highly professional and were very willing to go out of their way to accommodate whatever needs any of the vendors setting up the wedding had. I would highly consider this hotel based on their expertise and professionalism.

I stayed at this hotel and developed a mysterious rash. My dermatologist said it could've been due to bug bites or other irritant at the hotel. Has this happened to anyone else? The staff there was very friendly.
