It takes a long time for a girl to find a decent, reasonably priced place to get a haircut. I totally envy boys who can just walk into the barber, drop ten bucks, and be happy for six weeks. After years of searching around Boulder, I finally found this place, and I've been consistently pleased. It's not cheap, but it won't kill your budget either, and cuts take about 40 minutes, with minimal salon-theater (e.g. tinkering with curling irons and tiny scissors as if fixing your cowlick is open heart surgery, cementing it into place with hurricane-proof amounts of spray and then parading products you can't afford in front of you with the promise they'll solve all of your hair issues... when all you want to do is get to happy hour with your friends.)
With every cut, you get an aromatherapy scalp massage (who doesn't love those?) and they only use Bumble and Bumble products, so you leave smelling luxurious and looking good. Plus, B&B trains all the stylists at salons that sell their products, so you know that the person cutting your hair has more skills than the average scissor-happy Supercuts employee.
N.B. - Yelp needs to update the business address. The salon is now located at 4550 N. Broadway, but phone # is the same. It's a much better location than their old one...
Chicago Hair was a great place to start on my wedding day. It was calm, the stylists were "on it" and my Mom and bridal party walked out with beautifully styled hair.
They did a really nice large wave/curl with some height on top for me. I wore a flower and veil and it all came together really nicely. They helped show my sister how to get the veil in and out without destroying "the look".
Everyone else had up-dos and they were all different and totally went with each person's style. We all felt like our hair looked really great, and the pictures are amazing.
I wish I could remember the stylist's name ... she was personable and (thankfully) not too chatty, but my lowlights came out with waaaaaayyyy too much "orange" in them and the cut was barely average.
For the price - cut and color w/ tip, about $175 - I expected better.
If you like sitting through a sales pitch during your haircut, this is your place. They are owned by Bumble & Bumble and they just pressure and pressure and pressure you to buy their products the whole time. They even give you a list of what you should buy before you leave!
A haircut should not be a high pressure sales pitch. And my haircut was just mediocre. And $60.
I'm giving this 2 stars because they did not give me a mullet like Floyd's did. But I was still very unimpressed.
