I love that Chicago has Chiasso's only bricks and mortar store! It makes me feel like I've found a "secret source' for some great decor accessories. Chiasso is one of those stores that I definitely could not furnish my entire house from, but is perfect for various accents and special touches. You will not see things you find at Chiasso at everyone else's house--a true bonus.

I think their products are of good quality, and it's another pleasant surprise and in-the-know-shopper-bonus that their prices are extraordinarily reasonable. Especially great for items like that pillow that adds just the right pop to your sofa, the rug that boldly ties it all together
throws, sculptural pieces, etc. You definitely get a designer look and an overall aesthetic that you would pay much more for at other stores that offer similar items.

Chiasso is definitely a go-to place when you're looking to add touches of fun and whimsy to your decor, or if you want a special statement piece and do not want to pay $$$$ for it. The staff there is great too!

Good selection of modern decor items.  A bit pricey, but sale items can be a good find!

Yes, I'm guilty for having the DIY bug.  And how do I get it? By looking very many magazines and DIY blogs.  Walking into this store, you see it as hip, edgy and very modern.  They have a few items within my budget that I'd like to pick up, and a few out of my budget that I'd like to dupe.

Staff are super sweet.  They even went so far as check the back for a can of paint we were interested in finding out the color to one of their walls.

Chiasso is a fun store to shop, they have cute modern decor and  accessories. The furniture is very modern, all of the sofas and chairs are "low profile". I am not a fan of "low profile" furniture, plus the quality of the furniture does not look that great. If you are in the market for "low profile" furniture in cool colors and styles that is inexpensive this is the place for you.

I like to buy the accessories and other decor items because they are modern and unique. They have cool door mats, bathroom hardware, wall art, and other cool unique items that are priced moderately.

If you are looking for fun, trendy, modern furniture and accessories at a VERY reasonable price, Chiasso is the place to go! Chiasso has everything from clocks and mirrors for the walls, lamps for the floors and tables, and all of those "shelf & coffee table fillers" that you need to make a house or apartment look furnished.

I personally love to shop at Chiasso for gifts, because there are unique (and really reasonably priced) gifts that are good for the holidays, birthdays, or going aways. Whether you want to spend $20 or $1000, you can find something perfect.

Definitely worth heading into the store to check out their unique furniture and accessories. PLUS, there is a discount from the catalogue prices for shopping in-store!

    Elizabeth N. is exactly right.

Chiasso's catalogs are great. You think, oh wow, this stuff is gorgeous and actually pretty affordable! And when you see that there's a store on Clybourne, you're pretty excited. I actually made a special trip out there and whoa was I disappointed. What looks great in the catalog looks rather chintzy and often over-the-top in person, and what's more, most of the smaller pieces aren't even in stock--you still have to order, pay for delivery, and wait.

A big disappointment, but I suppose it's better to know before you naively spring for something from their catalog.

Some of the items there are over priced and others are for someone with distinctive style. If you shop there and want something expensive,  I recommend that you browse the store, then buy online. I saved 20% online by using one of the numerous coupon codes you can find on the internet.

EDIT: I got my chair. Delivery was supposed to be "White Glove", meaning they'll set it up,  take the box (and old stuff) away, and charge you an exorbitant amount. What I got was a couple of delivery guys who dumped  a 40" box (bigger than door ways) it at my front door and walked away, leaving me to wrestle it into my place. R&B went the distance when they delivered my stuff , took the time to set up the item, gave me a 5 min talk on how to clean it, and charged me half of what Chaisso did for a comparable item. I like my new chair though. They just lost a star.

Although I've been through Chiasso catalogs more times than I can count I went into the actual store for the very first time today.

I feel about Chiasso the same way I feel about CB2....very modern looking furniture.  Not exactly my style and anything I bought here wouldn't go with anything I currently own (hmmm- could be a good excuse to get all new stuff).

I do agree with Elizabeth and Kate that the quality looks much better in the actual catalog, but that seems to be the case with most things...and I personally couldn't buy furniture from anywhere without checking it out in person.

If you're looking for modern furniture, you'll find it's either way way expensive designer stuff, or it's Ikea or CB2.
Chiasso is in the middle. And priced closer to CB2 than Herman Miller.
I like this place and West Elm.
Unless you have a lot of modern decor in your place, most of this stuff will probably not fit your aesthetic, however there are some furniture pieces here that are almost exactly the same style as stuff you would find at Room and Board for a third of the price.
We got a really sweet convertible sofa, and a nice office chair. The items are well made. Not Ikea quality.
Check out when they have a warehouse sale, because we got really great deals on floor rugs. $100 for 4X6 rugs that look like stuff at Room and Board.
Also, the salespeople always remember us when we come in.

Very cute, sleek & stylish furniture pieces sold here!
When I was surfing the Internet, I happened to find the online store.  Then, found that there was a physical location in Chicago and I decided to take a look.  Nice to be able to see the actual items.
Fun to look around at the store, but it's just so pricey.  I think you pay a lot for the uniqueness, not really for the usefulness.

If you sign up to receive their catalog, you often get 15% in store coupon with the mailed catalog.

I live in California, so imagine my nervousness spending hundred of dollars in buying online furniture with Chiasso.  Nevertheless, I was quite pleased with my experience:

    Pros:

    1.  Price was reasonable, on the high side but still relatively acceptable.
    2.  Service was surprisingly good.  They guarantee the product, no question ask.  They follow up by email informing shipping schedule and all.
    3.  Shipping was quick.  I received it within couple of days.
    4.  I got an office chair, it was very easy to assemble.

    Cons:

    1.  The quality is not the best but franky, you can pay 50% more and may still get the same quality.  At least they guarantee their product.
    2.  First chair came, the seat got markings that doesn't come off.  And the chair was missing a wheel.  I emailed it to Michael the manager and he replaced it the next day... I received the replacement chair the next day... that was amazing.
    3.  The quality of the screw is weak.  Be careful to use the right screw driver and don't tight everything too hard.  Overall, it's a well build chair but you hate to wait for replacement screws.

What impressed me the most is the guarantee, if there is any issue, they either take it back or exchange it rather promptly.

Chiasso has a great catalog with great decorating ideas, but having been to their store, which is a little on the small side, the quality does not appear to be great. Now don't attack, I'm just saying for the price, I did not expect IKEA type quality. Staff was not extra friendly and there was plenty of staff up at the counter. Just none helping the customers/browsers in their store.
Parking in this area is a nightmare. With a capitol N. The parking lot is tiny and serves every other business in the strip mall. Not just Chiasso. Consider yourself warned.

Update as promised:  I picked up my groovy bamboo screen last night and the staff was great - they helped me carry the rather large box out to my car and even checked to make sure I had my keys in my hand before shutting the hatchback (I need those reminders!).

I will definitely be back - as soon as my budget allows!

We ordered some chairs about a year ago. Great style, great price. About 2 months ago one of them broke at the base, then a few days ago, the same thing happened to the other one. Pretty sure it was a defect as they broke in the exact same way/place. I emailed Chiasso at around noon, they called back within 3 hours, said they were sorry and sent out 2 brand new chairs. They were deeply apologetic and the representative was awesome. I've never experienced such prompt, thorough and friendly customer service and not only will I gladly purchase from them again, I will gladly recommend this to anyone looking for contemporary furnishings and design at equally great prices!
    Thank you Kelly @ Chiasso!

I received a catalog in the mail for Chiasso.  I had never heard of it but I loved every single item in the catalog.   It had furniture, home decorating items, lighting, clocks, glasses, etc.  I wanted everything and had multiple pages turned down.  Then I flipped over the catalog and found out they have a store on Clybourn!  I was so excited and my boyfriend and I went this weekend to check it out.  The store was very cute and there was so much to look at when you walk in.  They have very nice pieces, but some of the quality just didn't look that good when you got up close.  All the items I wanted to get just didn't look that great when I had them in my hand.  And they are expensive!  I definitely recommend going here because they do have cute things, but the things I picked out from the catalog just didn't look that great in person.

I would highly discourage folks to do business with this place. For one, the prices are pretty high for what you get. Secondly and more importantly they did not honor my gift certificate that someone gave me for Christmas several years back. The customer service rep. indicated that it was bought before they went bankrupt so I'm out of luck. What kind business integrity is that? They could have at least offered me some kind of discount. But no go. If you still feel compelled to purchase from this place after reading this, please DO NOT get a gift card or certificate since this may happen to the person you're giving this to.

Chiasso is a mixed bag for sure.  They have a lot of cool stuff, and most of it is overpriced for what it is.  But they do carry some unique items and the staff is friendly without being too in your face.  We bought a rug there (prices on rugs are decent) with a 15% coupon we had.  It ended up being way too small so we had to return it and they took it back no questions asked.  The girl even applied the same 15% off that had since expired to the larger rug we exchanged it for without us even asking.  Products and prices vary everywhere, but halfway decent customer service is hard to find, and Chiasso was no disappointment when it came to that.

I would recommend Chiasso for small nick-knacks rather than big pieces of furniture.  Everything looks amazing in their catalog, but in my opinion, unless you buy everything single piece on the page including lamps, rugs, wall hangings, etc. the furniture looks a bit odd and too modern on its own.  However, I bought the best book ends ever here and have been eyeing a rug.  Prices are a bit on the high side ($50 for bookends), but certain things are worth it.

I actually found this store online and just realized it was fairly close to me.  I liked it better online, the store felt more stuffy than funky. The store clerks were not overly friendly, and I felt they were more irritated we were there than glad we were.   I would recommend the online shopping from them.

We bought a sofa and dining table from Chiasso for our new apartment. We liked the style of most of the furniture and knick-knacks in their online catalog, and went to the store to check it out. Quality is way better than Ikea, though it varies by item. The store is small and doesn't showcase all the furniture they have in their catalog. But if you live in the Chicago area, it's definitely worth your time checking out the store because you get to see before you buy, and prices are lower (I believe to compensate for the fact that they have charge sales tax in Illinois whereas they don't in other states)
