They've really built a beautiful place to have dinner and if you liked this place before, you'll like this one. The food was very good, but I'd consider this more of a chain-type restaurant menu, rather than a chef-driven menu.
It's not really a foodie kind of place, but I'd definitely return. I had the Zuppa Pesce, seafood soup: large chunks of salmon, whole scallops and medium size shrimp. My husband really liked his veal parmigiana.
Service was very good. Atmosphere was very good.
The food was good and they had a great wine list but by far my favorite part was the high ceilings. Beautiful and very rare for Minnesota.
Decent food, in a very nice looking restaurant. This place is certainly a step up from Olive Garden type chains, but it is not a very ambitious step up. I had walleye, which was tasty, as were the garlic mashed potatoes. The salad was nothing out of ordinary, but was fine. I was quite happy to find they had Surly on tap as well. I'd go back if I wanted a good place to have a decent meal in a kid friendly environment.
Given that this was one of the options offered to me when an old friend invited me to lunch to celebrate my birthday, I chose it since I'd never been here and I like to try new places.
So, on the Sunday afternoon of March 22, I dined here. And I was impressed. Inviting & attractive decor, great music, personable and knowledgeable wait staff, varied menus (food and wine), and decent prices.
I ordered the Cappellini ai Gamberetti and had a hay-day with it. DeeeeLish! Shrimps were plentiful, sweet, succulent, fresh. Pasta was perfectly cooked. Good amount of garlic. Ate my fill and had enough leftover for a meal the following day.
I was a very satisfied (post) birthday girl. I'll get there again sometime.
What sits next to a comic book shop and a gas station? Why, Chianti Grill of course! But don't let the local surroundings fool you. Chianti Grill serves upscale Italian food at a not-so upscale price. And as for taste, Chianti Grill is tops!
I pass by this place all the time. And from the outside, the restaurant always intrigued me. With its red themed decor and fancy facade, it was just calling for me to eat inside. And on a sunny, Saturday afternoon, I would get my chance...
She decided on the MN local fish: Walleye Impanato w/ bread and salad as sides. And I decided on the meaty goodness of the Lasagna Bolognese - I anxiously waited for our food, sipping on my Arnie Palmer. And when it finally came, all I could say was, "Mangiamo!"
The lasagna was savory, with a generous portion of both bolognese and sauce. Very rich, very good! And the walleye? Prepared exquisitely. The spices and fish fused together into a savory entree. And all was right with the world. Or the Italian food world, at least.
Surrounded by local niceties, again, this restaurant is tops! And overall, the inside environment is classy, and the service was quick. The food is hearty (generous portions) and tasty. And the price will NOT burn a whole in your wallet.
*note: this location will be moving soon, so stay tuned for updates!
I'm always skeptical of Italian restaurants. Many of them are heavy on low-cost/high-profit foods (such as pasta), and they're often Americanized: stupid amounts of food that's short on imagination. But...my dining partners were bringing their toddler and it was within walking distance of their house.
I was pleasantly surprised. Portions were sane, presentation was very nice, and the service was extremely attentive. Lots of choices other than pasta; I had the veal sorrento. The sauce was a little heavy, but tasty. Wine list was limited and heavy on "grocery store" domestics, but I could overlook that a bit, especially at an average of $6/glass.
All in all, a nice little dining experience.
I may be down on this place because the vegetarian options were non exist ant. Besides that it is boring inside and just your typical American restaurant feel. Dessert was good though. I definitely won't go back.
Nice, classy place.
