Damn good hot chocolate. Not much else to say here.
I stopped by with a girl on a chilly night. Hot chocolate was on our minds. They definitely delivered. It was honestly the best hot chocolate that I've ever had. It was creamy, chocolate-ee, and smooth. Just hot enough.
They had artisan chocolate for sale too. Maybe next time...
Cool, chill vibe. Not stuffy like a gourmet chocolate place could be.

This is a quaint place just north of Grape Street on India street in Little Italy. They specialize in Belgian chocolates made on site. Go here and get your sweet on. Grab yourself a great cappuccino and a handful of chocolates. If you appreciate good chocolate. You will love this place. A great cap after a hearty italian dinner. Can't choose? Take a variety home in a beautiful gift box.
Hello people of San Diego. Just yesterday we stumbled upon this place by accident. We had a look at their varied selection of truffles. Joe, the co-owner explained that he made all the essences himself. We especially enjoyed the lavender truffle. If you enjoy proper chocolate and haven't tried this place yet, then you should!
We were visiting the Little Italy over the Memorial weekend. We specifically went to see if Chi Chocolat was open as both my bf and I are lovers of freshly made chocolates. At first we were sad since the shop is closed on Mondays, but we lucked out since they were working on a special project for the san diego zoo (making chocolate elephants...they looked excellent, by the way). We noted that we came all the way to get some of their chocolate, so we were let in just for that. They serve cafe style drinks, too, but didn't have any available (since they were officially closed). They specialize in grouping a series of 5 chocolates called "flights". It's like the same idea as a wine tasting. I bought the cosmopolitan flight. The chocolate was very smooth. If you are into something with a bit more flair than godiva. You must try Chi.
Adorable and tasty truffles for $1.60. I had a cardamom truffle in the shape of a card-- cute! My friend also enjoyed her green tea truffle. The display of the chocolates was simple and chic. The description by the employees were helpful and genuine. The entire atmosphere was friendly and fun. I wish I had my laptop and time. Probably a fun place to write.

CHI CHOCOLAT
2021 INDIA STREET
SAN DIEGO CA 92101
619-501-9215
Strolled into Chi Chocolat yesterday looking for somewhere to study my Spanish.
I give them a 4 because I didn't try any of their food or chocolat. I had a yummy cafe americano.
Their decor is nice and the ambiance is great. I enjoyed my coffee on a mosaic tiled table near the window in the sun.
I will go back to try their chocolate mousse.

Being adventurous and a chocoholic, I had huge expectations of this place. I found the space very cozy. The presentation of the chocolates is wonderful: one can choose "flights" of 5-6 harmonious truffles/flavored chocolates or mix/match "flights" of ones own (which I am guessing happens fairly often because certain chocolates seem to sell out quickly). The service is wonderful; after helping the customers in front of us, the person who worked at the store quickly came over to explain the concept of the menu and gave us enough time to muse over our decision. Unfortunately, I found the chocolates not very tasty. For example, the lavender filling in one of the chocolates was so liquidy that my mouth was filled with lavender syrup and not much chocolate; I would have preferred a vehicle that allowed the lavender to slowly and subtley develop and harmonize with the chocolate rather than the lavender soap explosion that I encountered. It was this way with many of the filled chocolates I had on my "flight". The solid chocolates did not really have any startling new flavors for me, and here I would have preferred more of an "explosion" of the advertised flavor. Also, the higher price point made it literally difficult to swallow the disappointing chocolates. Nevertheless, this is a cute date place with very nice concepts and great service in a fun neighborhood, so I would definitely give it another shot, if only to try some of the hot chocolate about which so many of the other yelpers are raving.

Sometimes there are days when I don't want to feel ghetto cool.
On those days, I go to my Chi Chi, pretend I am rich, sitting on the French Riviera, eating bon bons and sipping espresso. The only thing that is missing is a hot French man to whisper sweet oui oui's in my ear.
Order a 'plane' of 5 chocolates, an espresso or coffee drink of your choice and enjoy 10 minutes of heaven.

I once had a mushroom-shaped chocolate from Chi. I tripped out. It rolled slowly across my tongue and humped every single one of my taste buds. Seriously, it was that good.
I went in a few days ago to get another mushroom. I almost cried when I heard they don't make them anymore. The people who own the "chocolate boutique" said they were losing money. They said no one would pay the high price they'd have to charge to make money. I told them I'd pay the high price. I'd definitely pay the high price.
They have other chocolate that I'm sure is just as good. I guess I'm just a sucker for mushroom-shaped things.

i just happened upon chi today after stopping at the 7-eleven right next door. boy, am i glad i went in! it is a really cute little space with beautiful chocolates on display. i really wanted the pain au chocolat, but i settled for a large hot milk chocolate. that drink is the warm nectar of the gods. it brought about spiritual revelations, philosophical epiphanies...i had a religious experience over this chocolate. i will never pass this place again without stopping for a little god nectar. i'm already trying to find things to do in the neighborhood just to have an excuse to stop by.

I absolutely adore this place. The quality of the chocolate is definitely noticeable, even in the hot mocha. When I took a sip, it was as if I was back in Spain drinking their hot chocolate. The kind that you need to firmly stir because it is so thick. You can just imagine them in the back melting the chocolate bars in hot pans to add to your heavenly potion. My endorphins did get a kick out of it. The setting is pleasant as well as the service, which is a definite plus.
