Waaaay back in the day when I was a youngin I came in here to get my hair cut. I was a kid, so I never really had any opinion on how my cut looked in the end. Now, I only come here to get my eyebrows waxed. I usually only go with Cindy, but sometimes another lady may do it because she it too busy with another customer. So instead of waiting 25 minutes, I take the other nice asain lady's offer. They almost always come out looking good. And for the price is always nice! Cindy's dog is cute too....and his name is (get this) WHISKEY! HA! One day Cindy was sitting behind the desk moaning "Whiskey...oh Whiskey......WHISKEY!"...my mom and I thought she was hung over. When asked about it, she perked right up and said, "Oh, that's my dogs name, I just miss him, thats all!!".......oh Cindy, you crack me up...
fyi- if you decide to come here and you are looking for parking, absolutely do NOT park in the parking lot across the street. I made that mistake and after 15 minutes, I got towed!!!! There is this nasty salon in that area next to the Dunkin' Donuts that has beef with Chez Bella. They literali sit outside their door watching to see if anyone parks there and runs across to Cindys. Jerks. $116 dollars to get my car back damnit..
I live around the corner and mostly just pop in to get my eyebrows done. That's literally all you need to do... pop in. It's very convenient. I've never had to wait more than 5 min or so. It's quick and cheap, and always a decent job. Only a couple times have my brows been a little bit thinner than I would have liked, but after reading the other reviews I see I should be asking for Cindy (I'm not sure who I've gotten before).
I'm a nail-biter, so I've never had the mani (although my friend from nyc seemed pleased). Pedi was very nice though, no complaints there :-)
All in all, this place is convenient (if you live close-by, that is... parking, I'd imagine, could be a pain), cheap, and does a good job... plus everyone is very friendly!
I had an appointment at 7pm for a pedicure. Got there right at 7 and was put in a chair, but sat with my feet soaking for a good 20 minutes before I was attended to. Then the tech rushed through my pedicure. She cut my cuticle pretty deep on my first toe enough that it bled. She was a lot lighter on the rest. A 10 second per foot massage and then it was onto the polish.
I gave 2 stars as it was only $20 and a 5 minute walk from my apartment, but the bleeding and lack of massage bummed me out. The polish was done well though and the girls around me getting a fill all had great looking nails.
I would go back if I couldn't get to my normal place in Braintree or maybe on a week day when it was less busy.
Cindy and her sister do great work when it comes to eyebrow waxing.
Not to thin natural.
If I am in the area will stop by and wait no need for an appointment.
I use to go there all the time when I lived in the area but since moving to Somerville it vaires from J's place to Chez Bella for the eyebrow shaping.
That is all I have done.
As far as the dog being around cute but should be in another room...
Plus parking is hard during the evening and weekend hours.

okay this place has its ups and downs. their 28 dollar mani pedi is a plus. but i always prefer the younger lady (not rosa). everytime i get rosa, my cuticles are messed up the day after. she makes it look so nice, but then all of a sudden i have hang nails all over the place. The other lady is really nice. she takes her time and is very neat with her painting. i hate when people rush while doing my nails. esp acrylic.
cindy is very nice, and she is good at doing eyebrows but definately NOT HAIR. i am stupid enough to think she could cut hair. ITS A NAIL SALON!
i went in one day and finished with my manicure pedicure and i wanted to do something new with my hair. i wanted red highlights, and she told me it would come it brilliant. so i went for it. yes, it came out beautiful but it faded literally after two washes!.
it started turning orange. i dont know if it was a rinse or something, but i died my hair plenty of times, and it has never faded in two washes. i am not even joking!.
after the hair color faded, i got over it. i knew i wouldn't go back for color, but i decided to give her hair cutting skills a try because i am down for new styles. OMFG WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. she cut my hair so fucking short, it was not funny. i strictly said three inches, she cut more like 6. i told her to make it slant, she made it so straight. aiya CINDY!
I was in a wedding and really wanted to get a manicure. I live around the corner from this place and decided to give it a try. The woman who did the manicure seemed to do a nice job at first. However, my nails chipped within a day. So within 2 days I had to take all the nail polish off because it looked really bad. The manicure was pretty cheap $10 but the quality seemed to reflect the price.
Cindy is amazing at hair, eyebrows and making you smile. The only place I will go to get my eyebrows done and I'm always happy with the outcome as long as Cindy does them. My boyfriend loves getting his hair cut from Pablo and he is a very picky guy when it comes to who cuts his hair. I would highly recommend. The one bad experience I've had was getting my nails done, they made them bleed and hurt, plus they didn't look so great after either. So nails I wouldn't recommend but hair yes!
super cheap. ($10 mani/ $20 pedi) and you basically get what you pay for. which is the risk of some kinda gross infection cus their mani/pedi instruments look like they haven't been cleaned in forever. AND the lady there gives the most painful pedi's ever.
that being said, i was totally here all the time cus i lived down the street and i like to live on the edge...or i'm just too lazy to go any further. and this is totally not the type of place that judges you if you don't shave your legs beforehand.
the waxing might be something to try out though cus the girls always seem to come out of the room with perfectly arched eyebrows.
I absolutely LOVE chez bella! I go to cindy to have my eyebrows done every few weeks and she always does an outstanding job. She always cleans them up great and keeps the shape perfect. I've never had anything but a stellar experience here.
If you're in the area & desperate for a quick mani & pedi for cheap, then here's your place. Note that you'll have to put up with a hyperactive pint sized mutt that runs around (with it's nails painted red or pink!). You have to speak up in this place or someone who came in after you might get called ahead of you. And you gotta ask for your second coat! I agree with the infection risk, as noted by the first reviewer. This place is not worth the trouble, but the location is so damn convenient! My sis got some waxing done & they did a surprisingly clean job, but I'll never risk it.
