I have never been a fan of Chevy's.  This experience was no diferent.  We went in because it was conveniently located and we were in no mood to search out other options.

The service was good, but the food is so bland.  It is not bad, but it lacks flavor.

I have not written a review in almost 2 years, but I was so inspired by today's lunch that I had to write a review.

1.  They managed to give us the last scoop of chips from the barrel, so practically all the chips were smaller than a dime.
2.  Our waiter talked faster than the micro machines dude
3.  The fajita mix plate was so skimpy, only one morsel of meat could be placed on the tortilla in order to keep the veg, meat, tortilla ratio alive.
4.  The vegetables were so pale and lacking, that even the vegatables looked like they didn't want to be there.
5.  And for the clincher...I went to the restroom to wash my hands, and a WAITER WALKS RIGHTS OUT OF THE TOILET STALL, PASSES THE SINK AND DOESN'T WASH HIS HANDS.  I follow right behind him, using a paper towel to open the door of course, and there he is, daintily asking customers if he could take their plates...GROSSSS.

Couple of issues with u people reviewing Chevy's.

First, sometimes I think service is hit or miss, you should remember your servers name and ask not to be seated in that area. I am talking about you Erin O! I know serivce should be consistant, but you will give the restaurant a huge message that the server is lacking. I came here on Monday, sat right away, service was great, never asked for anything because our server Blanca was tottaly on top of it. Ask for her for great service.

Second issue, what are you complaining about the portions. We had the bbq chicken salad and mixed grill platter, between two people I was stuffed for hours. How can you say they are meager? I'm mean seriously do you need a trough of rice, beans, and burrito bombs. People eat to you are full not until you explode. If you feel its still too steep, just bring a coupon.

Third issue, stop complaining this is not real mexican food. Its just a direct result from all the people rave about mexican food for the last 40 or 50 years. They are just bringing you what the general public wants. Its just typical tex mex fare. As americans we do this to all imported foods, we amercanize so its palatable to everyone. If you want more authentic food go to a nice family place or try something like oaxacan food (slow food) which is just as good as tex-mex if not better. Just stop your griping.

Chevy's is what it is, moderate priced, good drinks, quick and predictable. Still good food though.

In a world of HUGE restaurant portions, Chevy seems meager when they bring out your plate. I blame the state of the economy. My boyfriend enchiladas were tiny, and I had about 7 measly strips of steak in my fajitas. They even skimp on the sour cream and guac on the side. Even the tortillas got smaller.
The food itself was ok. The boy enjoyed his, but my steak was tough and fatty. I just ate the nice warm tortillas which were as good as ever.
Lucky service was awesome. Our server Andi was quick, friendly and funny. I also like the big open layout of this Chevy's compared to the one on Winchester. Even though it wasn't bad, I don't think we will be back.

I came here with my friend and this place was alright.  I know a lot of people go to Chevy's just for the happy hour (I think it's Monday through Friday from 3pm to 7pm) and the $3 appetizers.

I ordered the Original Famous Chicken fajita and it had way too much "burnt" taste.  I didn't really enjoy it but I wasn't going to waste it so I just finished it.  It wasn't worth the money in my opinion.  There were only a few pieces of chicken and a lot of everything else.  The proportions were not even.

The service was alright but it was a bit slow.  I think the server might have forgotten us but whatever.

This was my first time going to a Chevy's and I'd say it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I've only been to Chevy's for their happy hour and I absolutely love it!  They start at 4pm to 7pm.  I heard it used to be $3 appetizers and $3 margaritas but now it's half off appetizers and still $3 margaritas, which is really good!!  The appetizers are full size and they have quite a selection.  We ordered the chicken and steak nachos, crispy flautas, chile con queso, and the spicy wings.   They were all really good!  The chicken and steak nachos get cold pretty quickly so work on that first!  It's so much better hot!!!  Anyway, the size of the margaritas is pretty big and it's tasty!!  =D  I've been telling a lot of people to come during their happy hour and have brought a couple friends here as well.  They seem to enjoy it as much as I did.  As for the service, it's pretty good!  They're fast and come back pretty often in the beginning.  They tend to leave you alone when all you food has come out...but we wanted to order drinks to so we had to waive him down!  I will definitely come back here for happy hour!

Absolutely demoralizing after leaving this place. From their simple dishes and desserts, I had to go to Taco Bell to make sure I was not just there. My meal was the size of nothing and I am sure I can find many other places with better meals. I am sorry to say but I am not a fan and suggest you searching for a more authentic Mexican restaurant to find that Southern American taste.

Pretty overrated.  People only really go here because of their Happy Hour.

But if you're like me, underage, then there really isn't all that much to like about this place.  While both the exterior and interior aren't horrible-looking, and while the food isn't that bad--you're really not getting what you pay for.

Entrees usually go upwards of $9, but the portions are pretty small.  Large portions are pretty evident in Mexican cuisine, so with Chevy's, it's really hard to tell what's an appetizer and what's not.  In all honesty, you might as well just buy appetizers, because most of the time they taste better and cost about the same anyway.

Drinks aren't bottomless either.  That's pretty much all there is to be said.  That's my biggest turn-off in sit-in restaurants.  The only reason why I go here is because of fundraising dinners with my organization.

There are better Chevy's out there.

4 stars says, "Yay! I'm a fan." And, Yay! I AM a fan so here we go:

I really enjoy the mixed grill fajitas. AMA-ZA-ZING! The chips and salsa are also salivating. The tortillas from the in-house tortilla factory are quite a people pleaser. At least a ME pleaser, for sure.

Yeah, it's true that the fajitas might look a little wimpy when they bring them out. Three slices of chicken, couple slices of steak, (they seem to be generous with the shrimp though), but somehow they fill you up and I'm big boned! lol Ok, I'm fat. And I get full. End of story.

The wait staff has always been pretty awesome. And there's plenty of parking.

Crappy service is turning into a pandemic at Chevy's.

The wifey and I headed over here for a happy hour snack and a few drinks.  The bar was dead at 5:30 which is never a good sign.  We ordered our drinks with little fuss and then began the night of waiting.

And waiting...

And waiting...

It just never ends...

And waiting...

And waiting...

And waiting...

And waiting...

Get the idea?

The bartender kept ignoring us for about 25 minutes before he asked if we'd like some food.  The chow for happy hour is basic but its all $3.  A wonderful deal to have a cheap OK dinnner with your beers and margaritas.

So another server brings out our food, which was again good for bar food.  But then I made the mistake of finishing my beer.  So I tried to flag down the bartender, who was once again ignoring us.  I saw a table of guys actually get up and match into the bar to tell him they wanted more drinks.  Wow.

Too bad.  A good server can make or break a happy hour and this guy broke it.

The food here is not that great and granted the portion is so small. I ordered the salmon fajita and literally the salmon was like five inch long. The plate cost around $17. Damn I can go to costco and get two slabs for that price. It's not hard to grill Salmon!!!

I would recommend going to the Chevy in Saratoga. If you are lucky their portion is better.

The only best deal is getting the $3.99 coupon in the mail. You buy one entre and get the second entre for $3.99. If it wasn't for the coupon I wouldn't go there.

Their happy hour is okay, full of carbs... but cheap. They have buffalo wings, nachos, and some rolled up stuff can't think of it now. Their drink special is okay.

So here's the situation. The bf and I occasionally come to Chevy's for their Happy Hour because it's darn cheap. And with their Happy Hour Food Menu, we typically only pick 2 or 3 things and it's usually not bad. Then again, I haven't ventured into their full menu since the early 2000s.

Last night we had dinner here to support a fundraiser for my students. Pluses go to Chevy's for offering generous fundraising opportunities for students by giving them 25% of someone's bill (that includes their flyer when they pay the bill) towards their organization.

However, after trying to get through our Chevy's combo plate, I realized, their food is really not tasty at all! Enchiladas were mushy, tamales were hard, and their rice was not good. Even our margaritas were over Triple-Sec'ed (if that's even a word).

Nam's words of advice, stick to their "El Happy Hour" for $3 appetizers/drinks menu.

At least it was all going to a good cause....

Did a fundraiser here with an organization I was in. Til this day we have not received the money we raised that day. shady? yes...

Other than that.. on to the food and service:

Food is your typical chevys food. The hostess makes the tortillas in the back so I don't know if shes qualified or not but they taste the same. A little odd in my opinion. Since the chevys is brand new, its pretty clean. The bar area could be run a little better...

the food was ok. not the best, but of course its a chain resturant. but what makes this only 2 star is the service.

Me and my husband have been here a few times and each time there are not many other people there, but they always seat us next to the door. its like the host doesnt want to walk too far. the waitress we got this last time inspired me to write this review. first off she seemed like any other waitress, asked how we were doing, my husband said we were great and asked how she was...she flat out told us her day SUCKED and told us she hated working there!

even on the other times the waiters make you feel rushed about ordering, but there is like no one else there!!!! we always go during the week around lunch time because those days are actually are our weekend. you only see the waitress on average 2 times during your meal. for whatever reason the food takes forever to get to the table.

Just to make a long story short the people working there dont seem to love their job, and they make it known.

Nothing beats their $3.99 coupon.

Service is spotty sometimes, but whatever. You place a good amount of meat in front of me and some of the good fixings, along with good conversation - I'll automatically have a good day.

And by meat, I mean the Mixed Grill... please get your mind out of the gutter.

Price:  Price is a bit steep ranging from $10-20 plates.  Happy hour is where it's at.  Margaritas, wells, and selective appetizers are all $3 M-F 3pm-7pm.  Either way, you get free chips and salsa :)

Service:  Service has a tendency to vary depending on the time and day you go.  Location seems to always be a factor, but since I'm reviewing the Coleman restaurant specifically, I would have to say service is decent at best.  Busier it is, the worse the service gets (of course for any restaurant).  The bad part is that for happy hour, you must be in the bar area and they will not let you go and stand there.  They will kick people out if it is too full.

Taste:  When it comes to mexican food, I prefer hole in the walls and smaller restaurants.  Franchise "Mexican" food is not too much to my liking.  The quality of food is mediocre especially for what you pay.  I recall getting a fajita and it not coming out sizzling (terrible)!  I'm not mexican so I can't talk like I know what is authentic or not, but I'm sure Chevy's is not amongst the most "authentic" Mexican food here in the bay area.

Atmosphere:  The restaurant is pretty big.  Fits a good amount of people, but beware of happy hour.  It can get packed.  There are seatings in the main restaurant area, bar, and outside in their little patio that could fit a party or two.  I've gone when it was dead as well as peak hours.  They have tv's in the bar area which is always a plus.  Don't recall loud music blasting or anything.  I would say other than the people, it was a peaceful experience.

What You'll Remember:  Margaritas!

Comment:  I remember going to Chevy's as a little kid for a field trip and making a burrito at the restaurant.  So I guess Chevy's always held a place in my heart.  Even more so now that I am 21 and can enjoy happy hour :)  $3 for drinks and appetizers is hard to beat especially the long 5 hours they offer it for!

Cheers,
T-Chung

This is a 1.5 star review in reality.  I usually have no issues with Chevy's in general.  The food is consistent, the portions good, the service friendly. I usually give a 3 star rating to these places.  Oh, the times, they are a changin'.  The flavor of the food is stil fine, and I had no issues with this, but the portions have changed, and the service here was attrocious the last time I was here.

Portion issues:  they changed the size of the chip baskets. They are about 50% smaller, which isn't bad until you can't get service.  The plates are the same size as they always have been, but with my enchilladas, they didn't ask me if I wanted beans, didn't give me any beans, and had a parsimonious amount of rice on the plate to go with my two enchilladas.  It visually looked like I was being gyped.  At the same time, my husband got a carnitas quesadilla, and it was 2x the size it needed to be. Probably enough food in an appetizer for 2 people to have a full meal.

On the service: I believe that service can make or break a restaurant.  It doesn't always take a lot. Being courteous, and moderately available really helps.  Here are the faults of our last trip to this particular Chevy's.  We had to wait for our waiter several times, after he'd say he would be "right back."  His right back time averaged at about 5 minutes.  He would often stop and have a semi-personal conversation just in front of our table, but wouldn't make himself available to get a drink refill or the check. We were sitting right next to the waiter station, and it still took 5-10 minutes to get a refill on chips, which were literally 5 feet from our table.  It took over 10 minutes to get the check.  The only thing which was delivered quickly to our table was our take-out box, and that was because he reached over the wall of the waiter's station, and fumbled around for the box to grab it.  We asked if the quesadilla had jalapenos in it, and he said that there were not, but the item was chock full of them, after we had specifically requested to not have any in the dish.

At a chain restaurant, I don't expect the world, but this particular location really did disappoint.

Why do people always complain that Chevy's is not authentic Mexican food? It gets really gets old.

I am aware that it is Americanized Mexican food. But pizza is Americanized Italian food; yet, people eat it all the damn time.

Anyway, authentic Mexican food is gross, sometimes. Do I really want to menudo?

Mmm. Intestines are so damn tasty!

Anyway, Chevy's is a solid Tex-Mex option. It's usually my default group location since most of my friends are closed minded when it comes to food and only eat American and Mexican food, and Chevy's does a good job at both.

I don't think any Chevy's could ever fall below 3-stars because they have the best chips and salsa ever. So much so, it allows my sister who hates spicy food and my dad who loves spicy food to eat chips and salsa in peace.

And with my semi-dysfunctional family, that is saying a lot.

I did indeed eat here the other day, so I feel obligated to pen some sort of review for the benefit of the Yelping public... but dude, what I am even supposed to say?  I mean... it's a Chevy's!  It offers the standard operating Chevy's experience!  Have you ever eaten at a Chevy's yourself?  Did you enjoy their middle-of-the-road Americanized Mexican fare?  If so, you would probably enjoy this Chevy's as well!  And if not... well, then probably not!  RIVETING INFORMATION, I know.

I suppose if my experience had been especially out of the ordinary one way or the other, that'd be something noteworthy to write about.  Like if lunch had turned into a whirlwind romantic comedy or something: "My server slipped me her digits; by the time the night was over, she had stolen my heart!"  That'd be worth some bonus stars right there.  Or on the flipside, if everything had gone off the rails in the worst possible way: "My server slipped me a mickey; by the time the night was over, she had stolen my kidneys!"  Man, I'd SURE as heck make sure that people knew to look out for THAT.

But nope, no dice.  It was a perfectly normative, generally uneventful, center-of-the-bell-curve dining experience for which there was ample parking.  SO COMMENCES THIS RIVETING REVIEW.

This is NOT how Tex-Mex is supposed to be done. (take notes, please, from Z-Tejas.) all of their food is bland and flavor-confused. the ONLY thing i'll pay to eat here are the floutas. the salsa that comes with the tortilla chips is also good.
everything else, from the fish to the fajitas is uninspired and disappointing. i'll come here for Thirsty Thursdays after work for their happy hour special, where their drinks aren't even that good and the service is only spectacular at the bar.

Dudes. I like "Mexican" food. I like "Tex-Mex." I like "Chevy's." This one was as good as any other Chevy's I've been to. They did my tacos right. My friends seemed to enjoy their food as well. In fact, the only mishap was when one of the servers took our chips in order to refill them. It left us with a whole 45 seconds during which we were chipless, and confused as to whether we should start scooping the salsa up with our fingers. It was mayhem.

That last part is a lie. Everything else is fact. Irrefutable fact. If you're capable of enjoying something without assigning grand expectations of authenticity or wishing that instead of "beef tacos" you were ordering something with more parentheses in the name, you'll probably like Chevy's.

Come on people - DUH its not "Authentic" Mexican food - it doesn't claim to be.

Take it or leave it, its a chain that has sub par food with sub par drinks. The best thing here is the chips/salsa and the guac, however paying $9 for it is absolutely ridiculous.

Its convenient when I don't want to cook as its super close to home, however living downtown allows me to eat at better locations.

Wow I am surprised this location got such bad ratings....this is my favorite Chevys to go to.

God bless Chevys for always sending me coupons. Buy one entree and get the 2nd one for $3.99 or $5.99 I do not remember but thats a deal!

We always go here for a late lunch on the weekends. One time we came in for dinner and it was pretty packed, sat in the back for the first time. Service is normally decent here, they are pretty good at keeping the chips and salsa coming. I like the big portions and their combo dishes, I can get a taco, tamale, and enchilada all in one plate! Their frozen margaritas are also pretty good.

My favorite thing here is the sweet corn thing... It's like can i just have a bowl of that?

I also just found out you get a free sombrero for your bday! Man I'm bummed I didn't go on my birthday!

Chevy's food is decent. It's definitely not authentic Mexican (they do state "Tex Mex" whatever that means) but it's pretty much my favourite. I thoroughly enjoy their Flautas... I order them almost every time. I've been here several times and the service is always good... well the waiters are good anyway. Tonight we had one of our plates arrive about 5 minutes late... which isn't a huge deal... but still... c'mon 5 minutes off on timing?

Bah.

It won't deter me, I love their flautas... and I love their coupons!!! I'll definitely be coming here for a long time now that this one is open and it's so close to my friend's place.

I don't care what anyone says...i love Chevy's!  Whether it's the SF or SJ locations, i come for the endless Chips and Salsa and Margaritas!  Happy Hours are super fun as they have great deals on appetizers and drinks.  Had lunch here today for a co-workers B-day, he had to wear the oversized Sombrero and endure the B-day singing from the workers-  but he got free dessert for that!  After 2 pitchers of Margaritas and their shrimp and crab enchilada which is super scrumptious- I'm a happy camper!  The ride back to work was a bit hazy, as our driver took the scenic route and drove around the police station.

I know I know. Why would a notorious fran-chain hater even bother with this place? Look, it wasn't my idea.

We got seated in Siberia and nobody came to wait on us. Since this has happened to others my guess is it is a host(ess) problem. Anyway we had to ask someone to ask someone to serve us and when we finally got a waiter everything was cool.

Speaking of our waiter he rocked and he's pretty much the only thing there that did rock. 3 stars for him.

The food? Come on, you know what it is. Bastardized Mexican food with all kind of goofy sauces - akin to guacamolito at Taco Town. But I don't really care. My almost $5 Corona tasted cold and fresh and that's what mattered.

after getting those $3.99 coupons in the mail week after week, me and the gf decided to go there for dinner. I haven't gone to Chevys in like 3 or 4 years and the only thing i remember are the free chips and salsa.

service was slow in the beginning but not so bad, took a while to actually get our order but no biggy.. we ask for water.. that took more than 5minutes to get.. food came in a slow average time.. at this time i thought everything is okay.. server ask us hows the food a few minutes later.. theres one star..

but after finishing our food, it took forever to get the check. i saw the waitress, tried to get her attention but she was halfway across the restaurant.. so me and my gf was just sitting there, eating ice since they never refilled our water...was being patient but enough is enough right???..  then the other people who just got sitted next to us was just ordering from another waitress, ask that server to get our server for our check.. that didn't happen.. left my gf to go to the bar to see the warriors game..(didn't see our server only the other one) came back finally saw the server  making her way to our table.. gf ask for the check.. got the check.. but mann 5minutes later nobody was picking it up.. trying to get home so i can watch the last 2 quarters of the game.. the whole wait was 20-25minutes after finishing our food. 25minutes!!!

finally got up to search for the waitress so she can scan our card to sign and get out of this place.. she gave me attitude like I already got your check.. i was like no get it and scan it.. that was it for me.. since i was up i look for the manager.. told him how we been done over 20minutes ago and here i am still standing in front of him waiting.. he offer to take out one item off our check.. i admit i was a little embarrassed because i used a coupon.. but oh well and i really was just trying to get out as fast i can.. he apologized.. handed our discounted check and bounce.. of course no tip!!! i only done that like once or twice in my life..from all the bad service place i been to.. but this one just got me fed up..

without yelp.. where can i get all my frustration out and bitterness about bad service to so many people..

advice to everybody.. if your just treated wrong or getting bad service.. don't be scared.. SAY SOMETHING!! you might be nervous doing it but its your right to complain..

I was super excited when I found out that they were opening a Chevy's in the Coleman Plaza. Although I don't think it's authetic Mexican food, I STILL DO ABSOULTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE Chevy's chips and Salsa and the Chicken Flautas!!! They are to DIE FOR....but not at this location.

I've been here a couple times already and given them time in between my visits hoping that they would be able to get it together after being open for awhile now. Sorry....but I have to agree with the previous reviewer and some of the others, the food here is NOT good in comparison to ALL the other Chevy's I've gone to.

NOTE TO THE MANAGEMENT: The chefs here need to make sure the food tastes like all the other Chevy's locations. Both times I've been here my flautas were undercooked and not even crispy like they should be. Even the salsa doesn't taste right.

I also think they need to hire more waiters to accomodate the weekday lunch rush. When a friend and I came here on a Thursday (because I wanted to use a coupon I received in the mail), the host basically had to kindly fill in for our waiter (who we never saw again after we got our beverages) since we waited so long before we got attention at the table. He had to take our food order and even served us our food probably since they did not have enough waiters. No one even checked on us during our meal....bummer (by then ....hopes out the window)

The only thing positive about this place is the cleaniness (since it is a  brand new restaurant) and the friendly hosts (different ones) at the front entrance.

Hopefully the management can read these concerns, address the issues, and get everything together before too many other dissatisfied costumers complain. I'd really like to see this location succeed.

Sorry to read other Yelpers experience at this Chevy's location.

My grandbaby was hungry and as we drove through downtown San Jose, we came across Chevy's. Knowing that Chevy's is a kid friendly place, we decided to have a late lunch here.

These last few days of August have been so very hot, so we opted to sit inside and enjoy the air conditioning.

Thankfully, the restaurant was not crowded - so the server didn't seem harried or overwhelmed. She came promptly to take our orders and it was a short wait for our lunches to be delivered to our table.

We've always known Chevy's to be generous with their serving portions - however, we noticed how much more less there were on our plates. I ordered the cheese quesadilla for my grandson - it came with fries and fresh fruit and a kid's sized ice cream cone for $4.99 and it was an additional $.99 for a small drink which I think is on the expensive side for  kid's meal plus exactly the most nutritiously sound.

All in all - it was a ok experience, I'll probably come next time without my grandson.

I'm not a food snob so I don't mind eating somewhere that's cheap.

We came here because we were too lazy to grill our own fajitas and it was just the three of us (my hubby, daughter, and myself) so we said FUCK it we'd probably spend the same to cook our own meals.

So we came on  Friday afternoon, it was during happy hour.  The sat my family at a table in the bar area.  Sweet $3 margaritas and appetizers...LOVE IT...So we order our food and our server gets our meals down.

20 minutes later she comes back and tells us our daughter's cheeseburger must have gotten stolen and taken to another table...HMMM... interesting.

So she comes back another 5 minutes with her burger and then we started to wonder.  Where the hell are our meals.  So she comes back to us and says  "Did you guys want to see a dessert menu?"  So I look at her with this look that said, "WTF are you talking about."  And out of my mouth comes the words, "I'm sorry we ordered meals."  Jon says what he orders and I repeat my order, and she replies:  "I'm sorry I must have thrown the paper with your meals away."

Okay WHAT THE FUCK is that...Honestly.  How the hell do you tell your customer that you threw their order away.  Good way to make us feel fucken special.  I mean what kind of BS is that.  I know what to expect when I go to a place like Chilli's or Chevy's.  I'm not looking for a fancy food presentation or my water to be refilled every time I put my water glass down, but I would at least expect my food to arrive at my table and not having my order thrown in the trash.

So then she asks us, "Would you still like your food?"  I mean c'mon of course we do...You had us sitting here for almost 45 minutes eating chips and salsa.  What kind of question is that.  By this time I'm furiously annoyed.   Hubby asks for his food to go and I got full off of being annoyed and chips and salsa.

Another 10 minutes later the restaurant manager comes with our bill and tells us our meals are free and in another 5 minutes hubby's meals come out.  The server is apologetic, but really it's just plain STUPIDITY that she threw away the paper with our meals on it.

That's actually a first for me to have our order thrown away.  Typically its fucked up or wrong, but never ever FORGOTTEN!

Chevy's, Chili's, Applebee's..all those eeeee's are like those friends that seem cool to hang out with, but end up being a little too much to handle after a few hours.

I came here one day 10 minutes before opening and had margaritas before our half dome trip. It was a nice sunny summer day and I didn't mind getting tipsy since I was going on vacation. I didn't care too much for the food. Actually didn't like it at all.

Came here on a whim with the bf after shopping at target. We had margaritas and shared a burrito at the bar. $50 later we wondered why we just didn't go somewhere nice for dinner.

Like that friend with the flashy style and all the connections, I was left unimpressed and wanting more...substance.

I came here today for lunch with my sister and I was very impressed with the size of this place, very big! We were seated right away and our server was very nice, don't remember his name.....lol
I looked at the menu and everything looked delicious! I ordered a Fajita salad which came with Steak, Lettuce (of course) Salsa, cheese (guacamole and beans in a Tostado shell. My sister ordered a combo with a Chicken Taco, Chicken Tamale and Chicken Enchiladas. It tasted very good since we split it!
I was very pleased with the service, the quality of food, considering it Chevy's and the whole feel of the Restaurant. Not sure when I will be going back, but I am a fan!

Curses!

I visit this Chevys two days before they open and think I'll grab the coveted "First to Review" but the so-called friend I invited along beats me to it!

I kid, Rachel. It was great being a witness to Rachel's 2 week old daughter's first visit to a restaurant. It was significant that it was a Chevys since Chevys is how I came to meet Rachel and her husband. (Eight years ago Rachel saw my Kathy's Shrine to Chevys page: http://www.shrinetoche... and then we met up for dinner at... *drumroll please*... a Chevys.)

Anyway, I was somehow able to finagle an invite to this friends and family "dress rehearsal" for this Chevys two days before they opened and everything was FREE. Schweet! They even let me expand my reservation from 4 to 7 (not including two babies) when someone in our party had out of town guests. (Note: They also had a cool contraption for holding infant car seats, too.)

But onto the Chev:

Our server, Shelley, was superb. She was super personable and I hope we get her on every trip to Chevys. From the manager to the bus boy, the service was super attentive.

Food wise, the chips and salsa were great. No "salters" or "greasers" were spotted (or tasted) amongst the chips. The nacho appetizer was good and full of meat. The chicken taco in our Super Chevys combo was yummy as were the tomalito and black beans.

My only disappointment in the food was in two items in the Super Chevys combo that I don't think this location does any differently than the others. The beef enchilada is something that Chevys just shouldn't serve. I've never had it before so I imagine it's the same everywhere it's just... bad and has too much ground beef. The chicken tamale used to have better flavor when I started ordering it 10 years ago now the sauce is odd tasting to me.

It was nice visiting a public bathroom that had yet to be destroyed. This one had doors that didn't have big gaps in the stall door frames either. The toilets were oddly in the middle of the stall instead of against the wall. Loved how clean it was.

El Machino was a trip. It was a different operation that at other Chevys and the bags of tortillas are now put in a notched filing system not unlike my work in-box.
