Review from Ami T.
I've played here many times. I'd say it's a pretty good municipal course. Because of its proximity to the city, it can get crowded on the weekends. Expect a 5.5 hour round on Saturdays.
We had a tee time today at 8:36am but did not tee off until 9:05am. It goes extremely slow in the beginning, because the first hole is an average par 4 hole, but the second hole is a par 3, and there is usually so much back up there. So usually it goes really slow until you get through 4th hole, which also happens to be a par 3. After that, it's not too bad. We finished at around 2pm, so the round itself took 5 hours, which is acceptable at muni courses on weekends. But they really should not book so many groups back to back... it is annoying to wait around the 1st tee for 30 minutes!!!
Fairways are wide, 2 water holes (not too difficult), CHALLENGING greens. Pretty long for ladies (over 5,700 yards).
All in all, I don't have much to complain for the price ($35, walking, weekend).
Oh, and the only entrance to the course is on Western, you cannot get in from Van Ness! -

Got invited to play this course today. Been here many times. Knowing that this is a municipal golf course and I'm just a bogey golfer, this course is fine. The fairways are wide, but not always straight. The fairways changed elevation, but not always flat. The greens were challenging and not flat. The reason I like playing here is there are a lot of fairways to swing my driver.
Today was a good day for any golfer, as not many people were out there playing. They must of been prepping for the L.A. Laker game this evening. We got on at 2pm and finished at around 5:30pm walking this course. So, for twenty five dollars today, we had a good round, fun times, great weather and memories. -

Nice course layout, but 6 1/2 round is not worth it!!!! Range balls are old beat up golf balls found on the course. Maybe next time I will try playing during the week to beat the rush took way to long.

This municipal course in the heart of LA is pretty challenging for intermediate and beginning golfers. It has some length on some par 4s - 440yds or so. That could mean a long iron after a decent drive. There is one water hole, and it doesn't even come into play.
My memories of this course were the number of sirens - police, fire truck, and ambulances - that race up and down Western and the bordering streets. You gotta be able to sink putts at this course with the neighborhood distractions. I also remember a guy chasing a young fellow who had just pilfered his clubs - looks like he can purchase them back next week in the parking lot. There are actually individuals selling "used" clubs in the parking lot - don't expect a receipt for your purchase.
Length - Average
Greens - Bumpy
Price - Inexpensive

Good golf can be played at this historical Los Angeles golf course. Right off of the 105 fwy, this place can get backed up some times. If you go on the weekends, it can run you about 40 bucks. Kinda expensive for a public course (to me). If you go during twilight, the price should be reasonable.
Nice fairways, elevated tees all make for a good day of golf. -

Very typical muni course. Parts are good, parts need work. Greens look nice from afar, but bumpy when close. Bunkers are good, as well as parts of the rough. Fairways are muni decent. Slow course, due to many 5 somes probably with lots of walkers. I enjoyed myself but won't drive out of my way to play here again.

So slow. So short. Greens are like playing plinko. First and last time here
