I stayed here over the weekend. What a beautiful B&B. It was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast, and it was absolutely amazing. It was a very cute, Victorian style house. The service was great and they were very attentive. The rooms at the inn were named after characters from Alice in Wonderland. The rooms were clean and surprisingly enough the bed was very comfortable. The inn was very close to State St. so it was close to all the hustle and bustle.
Our room was very cute it had a fireplace as well as a hot tub but of course we didn't take advantage of the hot tub. We were pressed for time, we got there Saturday so we tried to do as much as we could. Between 5-6 they served wine and appetizers and you got to meet the other people staying at the inn.
On Sunday, they had the coffee out on the patio. For breakfast, they served poached pears with cinnamon and creme fraiche with a blueberry scone. They also served a Mexican style quiche. It was delicious. It was a very pleasant weekend and I will definitely be back.
A really cute victorian style B&B spot. We stayed here over the weekend and it was lovely. The service is impeccable, very attentive. Super clean. Bed is very comfortable. We stayed at the March Hare suite which has the corner view and it was fabulous. We had a lot of natural lights. Downside is that the room was a wee bit tiny, nevertheless not a huge problem because the comfort level of this place superseed it. The Cheshire Cat Inn is located just one block below States Street, close enough to the action but just far enough not to absorb all of it's traffic and noises. Our stay was short so we didn't have a chance to explore the rest of the ground. Parking was a bit limited. They actually do not have enough space for all tenants. No assign parking spaces, it's on a first come first serve basis only. But if you can't find parking, there's plenty of space on the street. Tons of great restaurants and shops within walking distant. Beach is close but will need a bike or car. Besides that all is good and it's such a lovely place for a quick weekend getaway from LA.
Have fun!
What a charming and hospitable B&B! Having stayed there twice I must recommend it to everyone. Our room (the Cheshire Cat Suite) was lovely - so cozy and comfortable, well appointed, and the shower and jacuzzi tub were just so luxurious.
The 5pm wine and appetizer hour is always fun and tasty, and you get the chance to meet and chat with other guests. Their full breakfasts on the weekends are absolutely delicious, and you can even have them deliver to your room for a decadent breakfast-in-bed experience. The expanded continental breakfast during the week was also wonderful, with fresh baked scones and great local coffee.
They have a hot tub, and lovely garden-like grounds with plenty of little spots to sit and enjoy the beautiful Santa Barbara weather. Also they are just walking distance to State Street, and any number of great restaurants and shops.
We'll definitely be staying there again for the next special occasion weekend we can get away for!
So I decided to book with the Cheshire Cat Inn for a momentous getaway with my gf. We were going to be apart for 2 months so it had to be amazing. This was my first stay at a B&B and it was amazing! The experience could not have been better. The room was impeccable, clean, homey and so romantic (we had the Eberle room, with fireplace and jacuzzi sooo worth it!) The Inn was just beautiful, very comfy and clean. The courtyard had fresh flowers, lovely water fountain and the afternoon wine and appetizers made it even more lovely. We stayed during the week, so prices were cheaper and breakfast was smaller. Oh and the Innkeeper Bhati was a HOOT! Lovely woman with great stories!
It was such an easy getaway from LA, and I would recommend strolling from the Inn down to the Beach if its a nice day.
Overall this is a nice place. As one other poster mentioned, it is a bit self-service as the staff is often not around. One issue is the pet policy. We made a reservation and were approved to bring our dog by one employee. The inn was advertised as being pet friendly on some web sites. The inn's own web site was silent on the issue, but if you call, they appear to allow pets if the demand for rooms is low. However, when we checked out another employee accused us of bringing the pet without permission! She also requested that I hand over to her a copy of our reservation confirmation which I had in my hand (which did not mention pets). That kind of left me feeling like a scofflaw when I left, certainly not wanting to return. Also, the fresh scones and food are not that great (the Santa Barbara Roasters coffee is good). It is fine and convenient here but a bit lacking in polish.
Stayed here as part of our honeymoon. It was a lovely place--and who wouldn't want to stay in a gorgeous victorian? Stayed in the bottom floor in the main house, so it felt nicely private. Received a complimentary small bottle of wine and chocolates too. Breakfast was served outdoors buffet style, and it was very healthy and hearty.
Maybe we actually should have stayed two nights here--so we could have relaxed more and explored SB a little more too.
Talk about the most charming bed and breakfast ever!
Bed and Breakfasts are great for charm and a quaint bedroom, but this one goes above and beyond. The building is a 1920s farmhouse type of structure -- beautifully restored with a great original layout. The grounds are extremely well kept and lush. It is also located just off of State Street, which is the main stomping grounds of Santa Barbara.
Additionally, if you stay in the Mock Turtle (the name of our room) you will find several journals in the top drawer of the dresser. It is filled with notes and messages from other people who have stayed in the room. It is a wonderful touch!
Finally, the customer service is so great that it doesn't feel like customer service at all. The people are real and extremely helpful.
Oh, and stay for their breakfast. Um, um, good.
Go to SB!
Seeing how my fiance has been burning up in Hell's Kitchen, I decided to treat him to a winter retreat in Santa Barbara. I was a little skeptical at first when I found this B & B deal combined with dinner at a local French Restaurant. (Last time I found a hotel online, I swore I would never put myself through that again...) But I digress....My man and I arrived at the Cheshire Cat Inn and were swept through the rabbit hole (so to speak). Our room was amazing upgraded to a beautiful suite complete with an in-room Jacuzzi and a cozy fireplace. From the apricot homemade scones, to the friendly staff this was an inn to remember. Now I have to find new holidays to warrant another escape. (I don't celebrate Valentine's Day but Memorial Day is so far away!
This place is great. It's clean, comfortable and classic. The staff is great. It's great for couples. Sometimes they run packages that include dinner at Bouchon, a fantastic French restaurant nearby.
Just an amazing place to stay. It surpassed my high expectations. For good reviews and tips visit their review cite on trip advisor.
You can't go wrong!
For our 1st year anniversary, my husband picked this place due to good reviews. However, we were pretty disappointed! The B&B assistant had all of our room assignments laid out on the table, "self serve" and spelled our last name wrong ... instead of say "Jan" she spelled it "Jang" and coincidentally another couple's last name was "Jung" ... so when we got in, the "Jung" couple had already picked up our "Jang" room, and we we got their room instead. It was terrible to say the least that our 1st year anniversary was the smallest room in the bed and breakfast, with neighboring walls. Not a romantic evening to happen. The owner later apologized in the morning, but our anniversary was lackluster, and nothing could be corrected. We were very disappointed. They should have at least identified & verified each couple's first name (and spelt our name correct in the first place) and credit card reservation. Asked each person who they were, rather than just be lazy and leave the guests to pick up their room keys. Mom & pop style definitely came across as unprofessional. It spoilt the charm!
all i have to say is that they have SOFT water in their rooms, which NEVER happens at hotels. you don't leave the shower feeling like you've had to scrub off the top half of your dermis from soap scum. stayed here over mlk weekend and it was wonderful -- would definitely stay here again.
