6 reviews for Cheeseburger In Paradise
Great casual place to meet friends for a few drinks and some good food. The atmosphere is beachy-fun (similar to Islands in California) and the noise level is tolerable.
We started off with the Blackbeard Shrimp (blackened shrimp served on bread with a very tasty dipping sauce) and it was excellent. I had the Cheeseburger in Paradise and my dining partner had a burger with jalapenos and cheese. Both were cooked excellent and tasted awesome. I had the french fries with a side of ranch and she had the sweet potato chips. We were there during happy hour and mojitos were half price so we tried the regular, the blackberry, the pomegranite and the pinapple. All were tasty but the pomegranite and pinapple were our favorites. To round out the evening she had the Jamaica Apple Crisp and I had Key Lime Pie. Both were excellent.
This place has had the harm done to it of being the location of one of my worst dates. I'll try to detach myself of the displeasure and evaluate Cheese Burger in Paradise on its own merits. But, should there be some unexpected malice, that's why.
Upon entering, the first thing I noticed was a man in the corner playing a guitar and singing. It was a Friday night, so I can't imagine there's always a man in the corner playing a guitar, but I can certainly hope there is. Next to my attention was the pleasantly artificial, tropical ambiance--exactly like stepping into a restaurant in the tropical tourist spots. The waitstaff was outstanding. They seemed to sense when their presence was desired and were there bearing menus, refills, or directions to the restroom. Similarly, the food was fantastic, albeit poorly named--navigating their menu is a chore. It didn't reheat well though. Them's the breaks.
The price was a little steep (especially when paying for two), but then, I might simply be projecting my unpleasant time into the cost. Intellectually speaking, it's actually quite reasonable for such a cute restaurant. Just be sure you're in the mood for burgers.
This place is fun. I love the tropical look and the friendliness of the wait staff. As Holly mentioned, it is a bit loud, but I think that's expected with the openess of the restaurant. My favorite aspect is the open wall on the side of the restaurant. On a beautiful day it's wonderful because you get a great breeze all the way on the other side of the restaurant.
It's not on the menu, but I highly recommend their banana milkshake. The best banana shake I've ever had. Their mini burgers are fun and their onion straw appetizer is great (and cheap, only $4.99!). They serve it with a "japanese mayonaise".
I loved this place. It's a fun place to go for dinner and drinks, but my favorite part is definitely the tropical atmosphere. The purple sunset wall made me smile. And so did my Cheeseburger in Paradise (I decided to be cliche) and strawberry pina colada. Mmmm. Great stuff. I'm hoping for a chance to go again soon. Thanks, Jimmy Buffett!
I travel almost weekly and eat at a lot of chain restaurants. This place is the antithesis of the Outback Steakhouse Incs Outback and Carrabbas restaurants. While Outback Inc concentrates on making you feel at home, Cheeseburger in Paradise leaves you feeling like an ignore step child. I entered a moderately fill restaurant with plenty of empty tables, and we seated at an uncomfortable bar table in middle of the main traffic flow. When I asked to be moved, they told me a large party of 30 was going to arrive and they weren't seating anyone at "normal" tables.
This was a new one for me. Usually, restaurants cater to customers in hand, not possible large parties. When I returned to my table, the hostess and friends looked at me and giggled to one another making me feel like I was from Mars. Fortunately, there was a Carrabbas across the parking lot, and I received my usual Outback Style friendly greeting.
I admit I am a snob, being from Boston and living in a town that has few, if any chain restaurants. There is, however, no excuse for such bad service. Especially for a chain restaurant that is surrounded by short stay hotels. My advice is to avoid this place. Given the bad economy, the competition in the chain restaurant business is becoming intense. These folks just don't get it.
Update: their management seemed very concerned about my comments and wanted to talk to me about the experience. I didn't have a chance to talk with them, but their concern for feedback is duly noted.
Great drinks, food and atmosphere! A little loud if you are trying to eat out with a group of friends, but still a great time! Love the tropical touch!
