If you go to a restaurant that is named after cheese, you shouldn't be expecting health food. Cheddar's is the place to get casual, both in dress and appetite. Very flavorful food, cheap prices, and it doesn't take itself too seriously. So neither should you ;)
Our very laid-back and friendly waiter was both knowledgeable and attentive. Our drinks stayed full, and all of his recommendations were appropriate. Everything that we ordered was HUGE (not by design) and I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant lunch for under $30 (for the three of us.)
I had the Cajun seasoned catfish, served over rice with mashed potatoes smothered in cream gravy and baby carrots (attempting that 'healthy' angle.) Everything was amazing, and the carrots were so sweet that my wife wondered aloud how much sugar had gone into the coating. I told her, "Just enough to make them DELICIOUS!"
We ordered the appetizer chicken finger basket, which ended up being an 8-inch tower of succulent chicken breast with a flaky breading fried to crispy finish. Accompanied by perfect french fries and a honey mustard that tasted so fresh, I swear it was homemade. Our server Jason recommended Ranch to go along with them, and that was a homerun. It was enough for all of us to eat our fill, but we were trying to save room for our lunches!
My wife had the chicken quesadillas (was that bacon inside? YUM!) which came with pico and not quite enough sour cream. She could barely finish two of the four enormous slices. Our daughter was happy to pick off the three plates on the table while sipping her handmade chocolate milk.
On the whole, copious amounts of delicious (fattening) food served with panache from a guy that obviously knows that this is a deadend job, but he's still going to have fun doing it. I highly recommend this stopover for anyone that is trying to fill up on a budget, and is not counting calories. -

Is this a Chilis? or Maybe a Fridays..perhaps a Fuddruckers? Who cares they all look alike inside and have similar menus!
Perhaps the difference here in the taste. I cant help but think " old people food ". You know the type. I ordered a bowl of tortilla soup and a "loaded potato". I wasn't feeling either of them. The soup had an oily film on the top and the loaded potato was an overstatement. un melted cheese and sour cream is hardly loaded, not to mention how dry it was.
My mom had these mushy looking green beans on her plate that looked like they were from a can. I had to find out if they tasted as unappealing as they looked. I was shocked when they actually tasted WORSE...was that a BACON flavor?! I was appalled. She also had broccoli completely smothered in cheese..call me a purest but if you're going to order veggies you should at least try to get some nutritional value from them..right?
Why 2 stars and not 1? The service was good, fast and friendly and the prices were very reasonable. 4 of us came to lunch here for 47$, with drinks and an appetizer (chips and queso, pretty darn good) Just be very cautious about what you order and don't set your expectations to high and you should be fine. -

Today I was craving some good ol buffalo chicken tenders and decided I wanted to go to Cheddars. Well when I got there..the entrances were blocked and it was shut down..I don't know if Cheddars moved to a different location or what..but I'm disappointed that it's gone..and so sudden also..it was a very nice place to chill and relax at. Now it's not there anymore =( -

Sad Day... I recently saw that Cheddars is closed! It was the first restaurant my wife and I ate at the very first day we arrived in Plano.

I like this restaurant. I go there for their burgers and onion rings, along with the spinach dip. I am trying to try other things but I tend to stick to what I like

We have come a couple of times before gone and had problems. This time was different. Food was good and hot. It was delivered in a timely manner. Not fast food fast but good. We thought it was good. I had the Hickory Burger. My wife and Mother-in-Law had the Philly Steak sandwiches and were happy with the food and the service. Our waiter was very good and kept the glasses full.

Usually good but once, they just refused to provide service. I went in there on a Thursday in October and was seated immediately. And the wait then started - people to the right and left of me were getting service but I was in a vacuum :(. After nearly 20 minutes, I just left feeling thoroughly humiliated. Emailed their management afterwards but they never really replied back even though I provided them my cell number. Oh well. I really used to enjoy their food but after this experience, I won't go back there again.
