I wish I could give Checkers more than 5 stars. OK, I know that's a cliche way to start a review, but I totally mean it!!!
I first started working with Checkers almost 2 years (!!!) before my wedding. I initially spoke with Sandee (who was very sweet!) and then began working with the amazing, talented, and endlessly kind Samantha Harrington. I could write a 5-page essay about how wonderful she is but I'll try to be more concise.
I wasn't a bridezilla, but I was definitely *very* detail-oriented. I probably asked each of my vendors 3,000 questions. Samantha was always soooo patient and really encouraged me to ask away to my heart's content.
We already were about 100% sure we were going to book with Checkers before going into our tasting (we needed EVERYTHING brought into our venue and Checkers was extremely affordable compared to our venue's other "preferred" choices) and if there was any fraction of a doubt going in...it was all completely washed away once we left their office. Sami made my husband and me (and our sweet Mama) feel so comfortable making the commitment--we knew we were making the right choice. Oh! Did I forget to mention that the food was DELICIOUS?! Because it was superb. We were so excited for our wedding after our tasting!
In the weeks leading up to the wedding, Sami checked in with me every so often to tie up any loose-ends and I was confident things were going to run smoothly on the day-of thanks to her organization and attention to detail!
When the actual wedding day came--I had convinced myself that *something* would go wrong...because that's what everyone says. But you know what? Nothing really did...and I think a whole lot of that had to do with Sam and Checkers. Seriously, since Checkers was bringing in all of our rental items and all of our food...a large part of the weight of our wedding fell on their shoulders...and they did not disappoint one bit.
My wedding reception looked just as I had dreamed and I got compliments on the food and the service all night (heck, I'm still getting compliments nearly two weeks later) The waitstaff was always smiling and checking in on everyone and that really made a difference.
At the end of the night, Sami and her crew, in addition to cleaning everything up, packed up all the items we had brought in/all of our gifts/leftover food and (no lie!) delivered everything to our honeymoon suite. Now, if that's not going above and beyond...I don't know what is. I was completely blown away and thankful after such a tiring day.
So, I may have come close to the 5-page essay I swore not to write, but it's only because I have so many wonderful things to say. In summation: if you want your event to be amazing and perfect, book with Checkers ;) -

I used Checkers Catering for the first time today, for a lunch at my workplace. The order was handled by Karen, who did an great job and helped me with food choices and appropriate quantities.
The food arrived right on time, and was delicious! We ordered the assorted sandwiches (fresh bread, loved the tuna salad!), homemade potato chips (ok, those are totally fab, I was tempted to hide the bowl in my cubicle and not share them!), bowtie pasta salad (yum!!) and cookies (double yum!!). Checkers set up the serving table with a tablecloth, and came back a few hours later to clean everything up. Easy peasy, and very well priced.
I highly recommend Checkers Catering!! -

If I could give Checkers a 10+ out of 5, I would. I have used Checkers for various club events, but have never attended a wedding where they provided catering services.
A friend of mine was married this past weekend and Checkers was chosen to cater the reception cocktail party and dinner. The amount of attention and guidance Sandy and Samantha gave the bride prior to the event was amazing - and, it showed the evening of the event. The main eating area was transformed from a wine barrel and box storage area into an elegant, candle-lit dining area. The food was beyond outstanding - expertly passed during cocktails, beautifully displayed during the dinner. Everything was delicious -amazing spices, sauces and flavors. The buffet table always looked fresh and inviting (not an easy task). What was even more impressive was that you never saw the people doing the service!!! The tables were always tidy and glasses full, but you never noticed anyone!
Checkers made this a very special evening for the bride, groom and guests. If you want an event which is creatively designed, expertly executed at an extremely fair price, you should seriously consider Checkers. -

Today we did a Mexican themed lunch at work and it was very good.
Checkers arrived promptly at the scheduled time and set up everything for us.
On the Menu today:
* Chicken Taquitos - these were a huge hit with the staff! None left within 40 minutes of luncheon!
*Tri Color Chips - Very cool (Red, Dark Purple and Yellor corn tortilla chips) Not salty or oily.
* Salsa & Guacamole - both were a huge hit with the staff too
* All Beef Taco Bar - with all the fixings (toritilla, sour cream, salsa, 3 cheeses, shredded lettuce) - Everyone loved this!
* Pork Carnitas - with all the fixings! Supe huge hit - none left within 45 minutes of the luncheon.
* Spanish rice - flavorful but very dry
* Refried Beans - A-ok
* Cheesecake lolipops - everyone was a fan! very very very good!

Having sampled many of the delicious food items at the prom on Sunday I hereby announce Checker Catering's Carrot Cake as some serious stuff.
I mean that stuff was incr-edible. So moist. And yes I hate that word too at times - http://www.yelp.com/to...

That stuff was perfect. Perfectly moist, with a sweet cream-cheese layer of pure unabashed sugar.
Oh and for those of you who were looking for the famous carrot cake throughout the night - you probably missed it, cause having eaten four pieces myself and advising fellow- prom attendees to do the same.
By 10:30 - that wondrous carrot cake sensation....

I just used Checkers for my wedding this last Saturday. They did an excellent job with the food, the service and the attention to detail. Monica Perez was fantastic to work with. She listened to my needs and followed through spotlessly. My wedding was a success partially due to Checker's. If you're looking for a catering company, Checkers would be the company to hire. They get two thumbs up from me!
Btw, I've gotten quite a number of rave reviews in the last couple of weeks since my wedding from my guests who said the food was fantastic and made very positive comments on the catering. -

This past Tuesday our school district got a few of us teachers into the fence of Livermore Lab to see and learn about some of their fine scientists and facilities.
So to match the eye candy we had witnessed during the morning tours, we were presented with a delicious lunch catered by, you guessed it, Checkers Catering!
The deli sandwiches were good, pasta salad and potato salad was really good, cookies and cheesecake were delicious, and the homemade potato chips were fantastic!
Now I'm tempted to try using the potato chip as badge to get into the lab. And no, it's not me that left the grease mark on the security scanner... -

I am the owner of Umigo Indoor Kart Racing in Livermore where Checkers Catering does all our events. Monica at Checkers is our account specialist and does a fantastic job. My clients always rave about the service and fantastic food. We have had events from 6-200 people here from casual sandwiches to gourmet sit down meals. They take care of every detail in a personable and professional way. They also do formal to whimsical. I have been lucky enough to attend some events at other locations catered by Checkers and Monica and am always amazed at the creativity they use in their displays. The Livermore Chamber of Commerce Gala event was a beautiful and delicious example with the appetizers in fields of grass and desserts displayed on illuminated multi level plexiglass displays. Amazing!

Checkers catered the Yelp prom this year, so I spent the evening circling the food table and forgot all about Michael Jackson, Daft Punk and the Slide.
It started simple enough, a few handfuls of homemade chips with the caramelized onion dip, carrots, spinach dip.
Hell broke loose when someone raved on the carrot cake so I found a spare spatula to snag off a corner and. . . yes! That got me to the cookies, lemon squares, mouse cake, cheesecake, and before you know it I actually had a petit four. I was like, damn, I haven't had one of these in fifteen years, what have I been missing??
As a veteran of every colloquium, steering committee meeting, open house, volunteer recruiting drive, award ceremony, blood donation, bar mitzvah, wedding, circumcision, book signing, consciousness raising, Republican baiting, and veterinary shot after-party known to man, I can tell you with great confidence that this was the tastiest leave-it-and-forget big tray dessert platters I've ever had, I was expecting Central Valley fuel stop register counter but this was summer resort vacation bakery case good. -

If you are looking for an awesome caterer, Checker's fits the bill! I highly recommend them.
And why should you listen to me? I am an event planner and have worked with tons of caterers over the years, all over the Bay Area.
I have used them for lunches for 2 to full service dinners for 800, and the quality and service have always been perfect - consistently. And that's for over 10 years!
They have moved to a larger facility in Livermore, but their phone is the same. Call them if you want to impress your guests! -

I'm pretty nit-picky when it comes to caterers, and these guys make my job effortless - they are ALWAYS on top of things. Talk about attention to detail!
Their main business is corporate lunches, but over the last couple of years, they've begun branching out to social events (weddings and such), and from my experience - their transition has been flawless.
From their cuisine to the staff - top notch all the way! -

I want 10 stars for Checkers Catering. They catered my wedding this past Sunday, April 3, 2011. I can't say enough about their service from the first time I talked to them to get a quote to talking with the servers as they were cleaning up after my wedding. Top Notch!!!
The made a special Kugel for my fiance and the guest raved about it. The entire buffet from the appetizers to the special challah bread was fantastic. Many of the guest gave rave reviews for the food.
Checkers - thank you for a wonderful event. I could not have found a better service. -

Used them for a catered event at home.
They came and setup at 5pm.
Food was warm, after firing up burners, the temperature was getting higher. Its a balancing act, too much heat and the food deteriorates, so have to be careful.
Costs average from $25 to $35 per person depending on items selected.
Food quality we all liked. -

Checkers Catering is the perfect way to have a corporate or personal event catered. Their wide variety of menu items ranges from casual ro formal.... salads, entrees, side dishes, desserts, drinks... heck, they even bring tablewear and everything along with it. They set up and come back later to clean up.
So many of their menu items are absolutely great that it's difficult to choose a fave. They price each menu item per person so you can meet or come under a budget (if you have one).
I'm not sure how far they deliver, but it's one of the best caterers I've dealt with... for quaility of food AND service! -

Checker's is the equivalent of the monopolistic on-site, hot lunch provider for my grad school... but there's NO lady wearing a hairnet and black plastic glass, staring down at you with a big scoop of sloppy joe or mystery meat. It's very professional!
Week in & week out, they provide continental breakfast and hot lunch. The fresh fruit breakfast tray is my favorite: good presentation of various melons -- consistent slices -- generous amounts of grapes, sliced strawberries and some blackberries. Baked goods look good and border on unhealthy serving sizes, not to mention extra flaky (read: buttery!). Only complaint is the a usually shortage of yogurt.
Our lunches typically have a theme: Italian (creamy basil penne, chx parmigiana), Mexican, US-homestyle (turkey or traditional meatloaf), deli sandwiches or wraps... Typically a mixed green salad for veggies; dense cookies / brownies for dessert.
On many occasions I'm surprised how full I feel -- even when I haven't eaten very much. What's the secret ingredient?! Quality is better than I expected when feeding approx 100.
Staff members have been polite during move-in and move-out, and leave all students plenty of time to get additional rounds. Plus, the company provides biodegradable / recycled plastic utensils and paper products. In addition it employs green practices like having two salad dressing vessels with ladles rather than individual packages. -

My boyfriend's cousin invited us to his 50th birthday celebration which was set at his lovely home in Walnut Creek, CA. We looked forward to going, because his family and friends are big partiers. The theme of the birthday bash was disco and old school. Which is his all time favorite music style (and mine).
We were worried about arriving to the party late, since I had to finish my shift at work, rush home to get ready and then drive all the way to our destination. One of our concerns was, that they would be out of food by the time we got there.
Even after driving up and down the streets to find a parking spot, and being fashionably late AND starving, we were pleasantly surprised to see a beautifully decorated disco themed yard with plenty of food left! We dug in immediately, squeezing our way through the lines of people. Happily finding the food to be tasty, fresh and hot! There was a nice selection of foods to choose from too, complete with description cards on display. I felt like I was in a fancy hotel night club (but outdoors). The caterers had decorated the party with lots of glitz and glamor!
The service was impressive to say the least and I would highly recommend this catering service if you want to throw a shindig with a touch of class! -

If you ever want to make an impression and deal exclusively with professionals Checkers Catering is it! This is the second time I have used Checkers for a house party and Monica is a God-send!
Our last party was exquisite, topped off by real goldfish displays, holiday lanterns, extremely beautiful glass & mirror displays of food and centrepieces. And not to forget-the cheesecake lollipops are the bomb.
She is always open to brainstorm new ideas, color themes-all keeping a strict hold of the budget. She and her team are meticulous in the extreme and consummate professionals. I trust them and let Monica run with everything!
This year will be a silvery blue winter wonderland theme-and yes more Cheesecake Lollipops and those yummy skewered meat thingys. -

Once again, they pulled it off!!! The food and service was AMAZING! It was a retirement party for 50 picky County Employees and they all loved the food, it was a big hit. If you are looking to WOW your guest with great quality, fresh delicous food, this is the place, look no further. lol. You can not go wrong with this cater, they are always consistent and their food is just mouth watering delicous and I am a very picky person. I wish they would open up a restaurant so I can try all their food. We ordered the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with the Sage butter cream sauce on the side and the penne pasta, which I might add was HOMEMADE pasta! This chicken and sauce was one of the best chicken I have ever had in my life. It complimented eachother very well and the chicken breast was very moist and nice and crispy from the outside and the sage butter cream sauce...omg, that sauce is simply amazing.

Checkers Catering saved my life. Out of the numerous catering companies in San Francisco, Checkers was the only one that was able to help me with a last minute wine and cheese reception for a satellite office opening for my company. Monica was very helpful and walked me through everything. She went the extra mile to make this event great!
The food the staff set up looked great. Too bad I was unable to stay for the reception to actually taste it. I will definitely call upon Checkers to help me out with any of my events. -

Don't think twice. This is the place to get great food for a big party or event. I just threw a party for a friend and am so grateful I chose Checkers as my caterer.
Linda was great to work with, especially since it can easily be done by email. We went back and forth on the menu a few times as I have some friends with food restrictions.
The staff who showed up to set up were great and did a wonderful job laying it out. The guests were impressed with the spread and loved all of the food. They all commented on how much food there was but most of it vanished through out the evening. And some folks left with leftovers, especially the birthday girl.
The food was delicious and it was a very memorable evening. And thank goodness that I have such great friends who helped so much in making this such a great event! -

When we need lunch for a meeting, Checkers is who we turn to. They provide a nice spread of sandwiches, salads, desserts, and beverages to keep us all in a food coma. They can meet the needs of both carnivores or vegetarians. While their sandwiches are good, they lack variety...all we seem to get is ham, turkey, or roast beef. And why are they only bringing us diet drinks?

Recently I went to an event catered by Checkers. Based on previous experience, I expected something mediocre. They seemed to have significantly improved, not just with the quality of their food, but with their inclusion of green practices as well. Breakfast was average continental, but I was impressed with the selection of all organic teas. For lunch we had the option of chicken salad or chicken caesar. Both were very tasty, fresh, and healthy. I was also pleased that their forks and knives were biodegradable. No plastic cups in sight! Overall, they made a very green impression on me.

Checkers Catering has wonderful food and fantastic staff. I chose Checkers to cater my wedding. I visited and did tasting with 7 other caters and checkers was by far the best for both price and quality. Samantha Harrington is awesome. She is very flexible, accomodating, and totally respects and understands the meaning of BUDGET! Samantha went above and beyond to make sure my wedding day was perfect. She even helped with non catering issues. The food is excellent. My guest are still raving about the steak and mushroom entree. The presentation is beautiful and is well thought out. They make sure to compliment your theme and/or colors. I did a buffet dinner and was even able to have a separate children's buffet that made my catering even more affordable. The Checkers staff is amazing. I would recommend this catering company for any event. Satisfaction guranteed.

I hired Checkers to cater my wedding on Sept 19th at Rios Lovell Winery, and I've never made a better decision. We worked with Monica Perez, who was absolutely fabulous and went above and beyond. She actually helped to coordinate the reception portion of the wedding as part of her role as caterer, had all the vendors check in with her when they arrived, met with me on site before the wedding to check on every detail, thought of and remembered things I didn't even consider... etc. I felt completely confident that Monica would take care of my reception, and she did. Outside of the outstanding service-- which was PERFECT-- I mean the reception room looked better than I could have imagined-- the food was EXCELLENT. I mean even my pickiest relatives cleaned their plates!! I had heard from other folks that Checkers was very "corporate" and the food is better at Scotts, but I have to disagree (and I am kind of a foodie). They were perfect for my wedding of 100, paid close attention to my requests and followed through on everything. Even beyond that, at the end of the night Monica asked us what we wanted to do with our 11 flowers/ vase centerpieces. I had completely forgotten we were supposed to be responsible for returning the flowers to our vendor and that if we left them at the winery we would be charged an additional fee. Seeing our looks of shock, Monica just said, "Don't worry about it, I'll put them in the back of my car and bring them back to your vendor on Monday." Seriously, can you get any better service than this? I would recommend Checkers to anyone who wants to have outstanding, personalized service, delicious food and a worry- free event.
