what a great little hotel.  it's just 1 block from palm canyon dr.

parking is convenient.  the pool was the perfect temperature.  however, they do need more shade by the pool.  the view of the mountains was amazing.

the room was very clean, roomy (even with 3 people), and had a really nice kitchenette.

the staff is also very friendly & helpful.

I think I've found my new Palm Springs home. At first it was the Vagabond. Ok, I know, it's a crap hotel, but I was new to the area and poor.

Then it was Caliente Tropics, but that was before Casey Jones and Co. got booted, and the meth lab moved in.

This place is very sweet. I'll be adding some pictures in a few days, but It's really really neat. It's very old and pretty, built in the 40's as a vacation family getaway.

Our room had a nice little kitchenette with fridge, microwave, stove, and table. The bathroom had pretty details. The grounds were really gorgeous with stunning views of the mountains. The branches on the grapefruit and fig trees were bending with ripe fruit. In the morning they serve some of this fruit up to the guests for breakfast, along with good coffee, muffins, bagles, and other fruit.

The staff is friendly and helpful, too! I'm coming back!!!

I  have not stayed at the Chase Hotel but I feel compelled to write about their horrible (and lack of) service.  I called to inquire about reservations. The person who answered stated that they would be super busy because of high season, film festival, blah blah blah. I told him I was willing to come on any weekend in the next few months and that I read about all their raves online and how they were dog friendly and how great this was. I basically just gushed on and on. He responded with, "Well, we're booked for the next few months". I repeated that my dates were flexible and inquired abou their next available weekend. He said, "Well, you can call back in a couple of months". He was completely useless and rude. I really felt that he didn't want my business.

Basically, the front desk staff turned me off this establishment in just 1 phone call. I can and will take my business elsewhere.

Best ever.  I love this place.  First of all, it's named after the owners' dog, Chase.  You can often find him just lazing around.  The rooms are nice and attractively furnished.  The pool is always sparkling clean with plenty of chairs, tables and umbrellas.  They offer a great continental breakfast with plenty of varieties of sliced fruit, muffins, bagels and cream cheese, great coffee, tea, juices, etc.  In the afternoons they have warm chocolate chip cookies.  The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about Palm Springs.

When I was checking out a few years ago I asked one of the owners to call a taxi for me to get to the airport.  He said it wasn't necessary and drove me himself!  That's the kind of place the Chase is.

Stay there!

UPDATED 9/6/06

Stayed at the Chase this past weekend and am downgrading them one star for the following reasons:

They need more umbrellas/shade at the pool.

Chase the dog died a few weeks ago from heart problems.  RIP, you sweet dog.  It was sad that he wasn't there, but once again, I had a swell time at the Chase!

Small, (30 rooms), exceptionally reasonably priced hotel with rooms surrounding the pool. Hotel is in the Tennis Club district with views of the mountains and is w/in walking distance to downtown. The Chase is a very chilled out scene; the variety of guests  is interesting and everyone is there for the same reason, to hang by the beautiful pool and soak up the Palm Springs vibe.
Great complimentary breakfast, and free cookies, which my brother-in-law put a severe hurting on.
Pet friendly. Nice staff. Big fun all the way around.
My only complaint is one I seem to have at other hotels, the small beds, but again, I think that just may be me.
Also, the rooms (most notably the kitchens and the bathrooms) are a little lacking on esthetics, but the website pictures of the rooms are totally representative.

We stayed here last spring, i think about it all the time. I really loved this place. The pool is wonderful-i agree about the shade though. Some guests were shade hogs, but i was there for my tan so it was fine.

The staff is beyond friendly. One of the managers was taking a group out hiking, for fun!

I noticed most of the guests had been there before. It seems like the type of place you want to go all the time!

The hotel is small and so is the pool. its perfect for lounging around!

I love this hotel. I stayed at the Chase three years in a row so far and enjoyed it every time. In the cooler months stay in room 101(evening sun makes the room get hot). It has the best view of the mountain and a large Balcony to over look the pool and it has two queen beds.Room 114 would be my next option with a king bed.  John the manager and Craige the owner works so hard to keep all the guest happy. Maria the housekeeper will keep your room spotless. So if you go, try to go on Thursday, they have a street fair one block away and lots of places to eat.
