I've been here more than any other coffee place and still, I've never been disappointed. Charlie's Deli is one of my most favorite places to hang out... it's just plain comfortable and neighborhoody.

Charlie, who is a superstar, is there most of the time and knows everyone. He's ready to be your friend and he loves his deli. They open early for the morning crowd so they close at 4, but he'll stay open if people are still hanging out. Free wi fi, excellent sandwiches, perfect coffee, delicious bagels, and excellent prices!

San Franciscans, if you have anything to say against this place, you don't realize how lucky you are.

Okay...I have never ever set foot inside/near this place.

However, my co-worker has brought me cinnamon rolls, twice now.

OMG.

It's not covered in icing, but it has nice sugar crystals all over it, and it has yummy sweet/fruity stuff in between the layers.  (Yes, tastes like cinnamon!) It's not ginormous, but a great little piece of heaven. :D

My co-worker goes here...but I can only vouch for their awesomely delicious heavenly cinnamon roll!

I can see Charlie's from my office window-- which means I'm there every week! Love their veggie burger, the Mediterranean Platter, bagel and egg sandwiches, and when I can't resist temptation, the extremely large chocolate dipped coconut macaroons and seasonal pumpkin bread they display - where else- right next to the register......

Great coffee and an even friendlier staff- I only wish they stayed open later, because I would get take out for dinner there too! It's definitely a place that supports the community and remembers people- I go there when I'm having a bad day even if I've brought my lunch!

They take credit cards- but charge 50 cents for charges under $10 (wow, my computer keyboard doesn't have a symbol for cents- what does THAT tell us?!)

They do have an ATM in the cafe though!

My test of a great deli is a Reuben sandwich.
Charlies made it just right:
- rye bread: check
- toasted: check
- excellent pastrami: check
- not too much or too little meat: check
Excellent.

This town needs more places servings black bean burgers, until then, we've got Charlie's over in bernal. Nothing fancy, just a coffee shop serving up good service, good coffee, and a damn good burger.

What makes this place stand out is Charlie's commitment to art (without being the least bit pretentious).  He has rotating art shows in here, and he allows his space to be used for fund-raisers and art show parties.   And I mean USE his space.  Like, move all the chairs and couches out onto the sidewalk brother, cause we're gonna have to DANCE this art show into existence!

Good coffee, great Mediterranean food, excellent staff.

Cappuccinos, Black Bean Burgers, Mediterranean lunch plate, free wireless, 2 computers for customers to use, friendly owner & workers, artwork available for purchase from the Janet Pomeroy Center... this place is a hit with teachers and students attending or working at several of the schools nearby Precita Park.  That said, if you aren't comfortable being up to your armpits in teens and their younger tag along siblings, leave by 2:30pm.  Sandwiches I think you should try are the black bean burger or the tuna melt.  They have lots of Torani Syrups available, if that's what you're into.

NEW: Kombucha!!!  I love Kombucha.  So glad they carry it!

I was not that enthusiastic, but I like a coffee with fair trade coffee.

I tried their tuna melt a few weeks ago. If asked, say you want it with "everything". Molossols and tomatoes are a great addition.
It's the best tuna melt  I ever had. I keep coming back to have some more :)

ok, so there's something magic they put in the butter here that my kids are HEAVEN with a 'plain bagel toasted butter'.    Coffee drinks are great.  And the deli sandwiches are fresh, meaty, and the pickle/pepper mix they put on almost takes me back to Philadelphia.   Oh...and they have the nicest staff on our side of town!

Like this joint. I highly suggest you get the falaffel pita. It's about as good as Old Jerusalem but pleasantly different. Would give more stars if it were open better hours.

Avoid the after school crowd when the place is mobbed with pre-teens, don't come here after 2PM. Otherwise, a decent laid back neighborhood coffee shop with free wifi and predictable coffee choices.

Charlie's is a rough gem. I've enjoyed their black bean burger for lunch on many occasions and it's delicious. They are also one of the only cafes I know of that sells kombucha. And, they remember my name. Almost always.

The best cafe in San Francisco, hands down. Sunny vibes right on Precita Park, roomy seating, organic coffee and milk, yummy chocolate chip cookies, scrumptious black bean burgers, and a mellow do-gooder vibe with an artsy edge. It was sad to move to the other side of the hill away from Charlie's.

Oh, how I love Charlie's. Who knows what I will find there? Today, he had corn dogs. But I usually get the falafel. It's not thrilling, but it's filling, and the atmosphere is so nice and relaxed. Everyone who works there is super friendly. And it has free wi-fi. I work from home so this is often my little break to chat with people and not be at my desk. Or sometimes it IS my desk, if I can't actually work in my home. Giant cookies too.

I love Charlie's. Nadim and Charlie are great, and the dolmas are delicious! My biggest wish is that they were open Sundays, but other than that, it's an adorable little place with a great vibe.
