Good selection of draught imports, domestics and locals, especially 3 Floyds.
Had a good burger there. On Sunday, the lobster bisque is the soup of the day, it was good but could have been served warmer.
The bartender gave us individual bills without asking. -

This Charlie's Ale House actually closed over a year ago and was sold and re-opened as The Charleyhorse Restaurant:

We stopped here tonight after finding out Three Floyds was way too
packed and they didn't know how long the wait was going to be.
Everyone in our group had the all you can eat fish & chips, I took a bite
of my hubby's and it was delish. I had the Charlie burger which was
also pretty good. They have a big selection of beers on tap and also
specialty drinks. I had the pomegranate margarita and my hubby had
a beer, both were fabulous.
Service was good, but since it was AYCE fish, they were slow on
bringing out more fish. We had to wait for more. That kind of sucked.
Other than that, I really like this place and love the decor. We'll
probably be back soon. -

First, the positives. They have one of the best patios for summertime drinking in the area. The waitstaff is very friendly and accommodating There is always a good selection of craft beers and unless you are some kind of crazy "I've had every type of beer" person, you will find something you haven't tried that is usually pretty good.
Next, the medicores (I know it's not a word). The food is okay with their flat bread pizzas probably being the worst and their ham on a pretzel roll the best. It's quiet a lot of the time, so if you're into that it's a good fit. If you're looking for somebody to take home and grope, probably not your place.
Finally, the bad. It can get VERY smoky in the bar at night, which is annoying to no end. Also, their prices are a little much if you don't get a free drink now and then.
I'd recommend it overall. -

All I can say is half priced wine on Wednesdays. I think that's probably the main reason we go back on a regular basis. The food is not bad although some things are hit or miss. I've had a few meals that I've enjoyed and one or two meals that were average at best.
I've found the service to be pretty good. They've been able to handle fairly large groups of us (10+) at one time so that is a good thing. I do like that they are able to separate our checks even if there are quite a few of us. I noticed that not all restaurants will do that in the area.
It does have a pub atmosphere and a pretty large bar area with a decent selection of liquor. There is also a large back room if you want to have a party or something. -

I liked this place because the food tasted good.
The mister liked it because it is in Munster, (he is a "Munsters" fan - the TV show not the town hee) IN. Oh and because the food tasted good.
We came here last night to visit some friends who live in the area, and since Three Floyds didn't take reservations (we had a party of 6) we decided on Charlie's. I haven't tried Three Floyds yet so I cannot really compare but Charlie's Ale House did not disappoint us.
It is classic pub grub for sure. Our group started out with buffalo wings and pot roast egg rolls as appetizers. The wings were delicious, large (unlike wimpy ones I have had at some bars) and with just the right amount of spice to make your mouth tingle, not burn. Add carrot and celery sticks and some bleu cheese dressing and you can pretty much make a meal out of them. The pot roast egg rolls were also good, but nothing I would go out of my way for. They had the white noodles that you would usually see with Mongolian beef on the side as well as some greens and a dipping sauce which tasted like plain sour cream. For our meals, the mister had the turkey burger which was very tasty. I was pleasantly suprised that he was able to get the option of having grilled veggies instead of fries as his side, that made him very happy because he is watching what he eats these days. I had a big lunch earlier so I wasn't hungry enough for an entree so I had the bowl of their "Kick Ass Chili" which truly did Kick Ass. I was surprised to see the size of the bowl, it was almost as big as the plates the entrees were served on! It came with oyster crackers and topped with sour cream, cheese and onions. Not too many beans, the spice was just enough to tingle my tongue and instead of ground beef, there were chunks of tasty sirloin swimming in the tomatoey sauce.
Beer selection was pretty good, I just had some Leinie's Honey Weiss, but there are plenty of beers on tap and bottled to choose from so you never get bored.
The atmosphere is typical touristy pub and grill. It's way nicer than an Appelbee's or Friday's but you can still tell this is a place for tourists to dine, or is that because there is a Hampton Inn next door ;)? Also, waitstaff was friendly if not a bit spaced out. We kept getting food that belonged to other tables and the waitress almost forgot to bring my 2nd drink, but it was all good. Also, since it is over the border, you can smoke here so it might be an unpleasant suprise for nonsmokers from IL who are used to eating in places that are smoke-free. Luckily, ventilation is pretty good so the air quality is not an issue.
I would definitely come here again when in the area visiting our Hammond/Munster friends. -

The only reason I come here is for short business lunches because there's no reason to stick around and you can always grab a seat. Yeah, don't go here for the food.

We came here after a stop at Three Floyd's, to drink more Three Floyd's. I got a pretty mediocre Turkey Burger, but another Gumball Head, so it made up for it. I wouldn't go here for fun, though - well, maybe if I lived in Indiana.

prices were high and the food was okay. their beer selection was good. they are closed now. if they were smart, they would have relocated to where Bennigan's was that is now Gino's East.

I always enjoy the food here when I come into town. Tonight that had a complete meal special for 9.99. I had the meat loaf which was very good. Had a pint of Blue Moon which made for an enjoyable meal. One thing I don't like is the smoke. Even in the nonsmoking section you can smell it. They need to improve the ventilation.
