If you're even in Orlando, FL and crave a good steak, Charley's Steak House is great.

I ordered the ribeye and was not disappointed.  Everything else is ala carte and can add up quickly making the bill about $50-$60 per person w/o drinks.

There is a full bar.  Depending on what is happening at the convention center, the restaurant can get packed.  Service was great when we dined there.  We even had on casual attire.

My fillet mignon LITERALLY melted in my mouth.
People say that a lot. But I am being literal here.
You do not need teeth to eat the fillet. Just rub the piece of meat between your tongue and the roof of your mouth.
I am so serious.

They were ranked as America's #1 steak house this year. They have been in the top 10 for years now. I agree.

I had the seasoned fillet stuffed with blue cheese. I would also recommend the mushroom & blue cheese fondue appetizer.

It is a classic steak house, with good service, knowledgeable staff, and a unique twist, the grill is visible when you walk in the door and you can watch them cook the steaks. Wet aged on premises.

Definitely worth venturing off Disney property when you are here. And easy to find, just east of Interstate 4 on 192.

Heavenly goodness in the form of beef. The best cooked, seasoned, and cuts of steak I ever had. just thinking about it is making my mouth water.

Really there are only two things that disappointed me here, the sour dough bread wasn't very sour, and pepsi not coke. But to be honest they could have served Micky D's fries as the only side and I would still give them a 5 on the steak alone. (yes it really is that good)

Are you cheap? Me too! That's why I only go here for birthdays. It's $21.95 off your entree with the purchase of an entree. Included w/your total is an 17% tip.

We were asked if we wanted to have the steak tray presentation-no, we advised. We were ready to order after being left to out own devices for 10 mins or so on a dead night for non-sports related restaurants (Superbowl night, all the servers were in the bar watching the game).

Had the t-bone and this steak was so perfect. Wow, I mean really-WOW. Included with your steak purchase is salad bar (kinda strange for a supposedly high-end steakhouse, but fine w/me) and either baked potato or steak fries (which weren't really fries, but very tasty none the less).

Our server was kind of a tool. Pretty much ignored us-a bit shitty for a server to ignore a table when he's guaranteed at least a 17% tip. Had to ask other servers passing by for water and bread. Manager came by to ask how our meal was and to remind us that "we're here for your fine dining needs everyday, not just your birthday." Funny.

They had a plethora of well-priced sides, but remember, I'm cheap, so no splurging. No wine, no dessert, no extras. Just t-bones for 2, with potato sides, salad bar, bread, water and a crap-ass server was about $45-ish bucks. Score!

I was out here in Orlando for a job and went to Charley's. Something glorious happens when you wash down dry-aged beef with good red wine. And it happened here, with a hefty cut of rib-eye. Charley's is the real deal. I'm no fan of Orlando. But Charley's, changes that evaluation. This may be one the best steaks I have ever eaten. This steak melts, and melts, and just flows with deep, rich umami flavor. The sides, really, I barely remember. how could I, they were eclipsed by dry-aged perfection. This place is brilliant. A true education on the glories of dry-aging.

One of our all time favorite steak houses.  Don't miss this.  The sides are great.  The steaks are fantastic and so is the wine list.  I love the seared tuna. Save room for dessert they are my favorite.  I love the chocolate flour less torte.

This was one of the first steak houses I have ever been to. I was in Orlando for a business conference and some of my colleagues and I decided to have a nice dinner out at the spur of the moment. This was across the street from our conference center so an easy walk. We got there at about 8 pm on a Friday evening, and you would think it would be a long wait but they were able to get the seven of us in within a matter of seconds. We sat on the balconey with the warm May breeze and fresh, fruity cocktails.

The waiter flirted with us ladies and made a homemade cantaloupe concoction for one of my business associates, she had two...

We all ordered the filet mignon. It came with fresh bread and salad with a oil and vinegar type dressing. I was pretty impressed plus each of our dinners was $31 without tip or alcohol, so honestly it was a pretty good price for the high quality of the nicely charbroiled meat.

I am definitely a fan of fliet mignon now and my husband was really jealous of me when I reported my foray into the high life later than night!

Update*** I realized I forgot to tell you all about the best part of our dining experience: The 25ish year old semi-hooker with the 65ish overly tanned businessman. They came in to be seated behind us and by the time we reached our salad course, they were outside smoking.. and she was drunk off her white-pants -with -no -panties- clad behind! Then they commensed making out, with her straddling him on his stool and him with his grandfatherly hands up her sparkly, sequined tank top! We are all in awe at our table and couldn't resist sneaking glances around our glasses of wine and butter knives... It really did make the night! Hello Orlando!

One of the very few restaurants in Orlando that I would recommend. The group I was with and I had a great time here. The steaks were perfectly grilled and the appetizers were good too. Service was definitely with a smile. It's not cheap, but it's worth it.

I've always been a fan of Charley's. I have noticed that the menu items vary from location to location. I've been to both the OBT and I-Drive location and my fave by far is the OBT location. Although not the safest part of town the food is solid. I especially like the twice baked sweet potato and the white chocolate cake is amazing and HUGE. I love the butter flavor of the steaks and haven't had any problems with the way they are cooked.

The actual dining area feels a little worn and could use an uplift. Also, I'm always a little disappointed that Charley's doesn't enforce some kind of dress code. It would be nice to dress up (just a tad) and have a nice steak dinner, bottle of wine and not have to watch people shuffle by in flip flops, torn shorts and ball caps. Come on Orlando!

The way they bring the meat out on a tray is a little cheesy but part of the fun. Over the past few years I have noticed a slip in quality. The staff and food just doesn't seem as sharp as it used to. Still a good meal though but in this market with lots of stiff competition Charley's is lucky to have the tourists to keep them busy.

So the first time I ate dinner here was with an old room mate...The waiter comes around with the platter of meats to choose... Plates come only with the meat...sides are extra! I had the filet with garlic mashed potatoes....yum yum and a salad. Dinner was just under $200 for two with wine...

A little pricey....but great food! Probably one of the best steakhouses in the US! I have returned many times over the years. They give a free meal on your birthday...so this is always a favorite stop!

They do a special 'off the menu' steak that is allegedly the center piece of a filet mignon without any of the exterior meat that would be touching the rest of the tissue/meat/bone/whatever. If someone else is paying for it, then I'd recommend that.
Otherwise, I'd go to Del Friscos.

Charley's is a tad shabby. Their side dishes are, across the board, lackluster. The actual meat is fine and they employ some sort of grilling method involving fancy wood. Or something. Maybe I am not a fire and meat pro, but I am not sure if I could notice the subtle nuance that whatever was the source of the fire imparted on to my steak.

Had a HORRIBLE experience here a few years back... went there with a group of people (there were around 5 of us)... first of all the service was terrible... could not get anyone to wait on us for atleast the first 30 minutes or so.. (they would not even bring us water or anything!!) Then finally when they did wait on us,.. we had 3 or 4 different waiters and none of them knew what the other one was doing! When our food finally came... one of the people in our party her steak was not cooked the way it was supposed to be cooked,,, so she sent it back.. and did not get it returned to her until everyone else was done eating... THEN one of the other people in my party... it was their birthday and supposedly they give out free dinners on your birthday.. which requires the person to show a photo ID as verification... well would'nt you know it.. they took the drivers license and again did not return for atleast 30 minutes... We also complained about the temperature in there... (other people at other tables were complaining also).. they never did anything to accomodate us in that respect either.. So a person from my group wrote a letter to the manager complaining about our experience... and never heard ANYTHING back... .. now I am not saying I expected free food out of the deal... but at the very least they could have written a letter apologizing for the bad service.. never heard anything...  And they have been on the top 10 list for best steakhouses in America for as long as I can remember... I certainly dont see how!!  I will never go back to this place again!!

I am a huge steak lover.  I have tried all the big ones: Bob's, Ruth's chris, Morton's, Capital Grille, Smith and Wollenskys, etc.  I am a bit surprised that this steakhouse is even on the list of the best.  I will say that the price is right for what you get. It is not overly pricey.  My bone-in 24 oz Ribeye was about $35.  This puts it at the lower price point of the aforementioned.  But let's get one thing straight.  This meat is grain-fed and not corn-fed beef.  It is completely different. Not bad just different.  The cut was tender but for some reason we had a lot of grisel left on our plate.  It didn't really cut well.  I am not sure if it was the dull steak knives or the steak.  But is seemed that we worked too hard to get the tender meat.  Prime ribeye beef is the fattiest cut available and shouldn't require any effort.

The service was good.  The meat presentations seemed like another theme park show but effective.  The steak comes with a salad which was nothing special.  The sides are extra but not pricey.  I gave this three stars because I just wasn't impressed enough to call this one of America's top ten.  If I really want some steak in Orlando, I think I would rather go to Lone Star or Outbacks.  Spend less and feed the crave.

This review is for the location on International Drive:

Big menu, big portions, BEEG SPIEL.  Nice to be able to observe the cut of meat before it's cooked.

Martinis were strong, wine list was extensive.  Service was prompt and efficient, if at times, a bit cold.

Friend green tomatoes were very tasty, slightly crispy, never soggy or too oily.  the Miracle Whip-like sauce that came with them... not impressive.

My porter house medium rare was cooked to perfection.  I ordered the port wine with gorgonzola cream sauce which was pretty heavenly.  The resto's signature Smashing Potatoes with blue cheese was delish.  No complaints (or applause) for their asparagus with hollandaise.
Our group was stuffed to the gills with carne so we skipped dessert, but, to give you an idea,  think Claim Jumper size Motherlode, Carrot, Red Velvet, and Cheese Cakes.
I was fairly impressed with this chain.  This restaurant group has come up with a formula that works for many different tastes, as long as they ultimately point towards COW.

I was there with ilovefood and have to agree, it really wasn't all that. I am a huge carnivore but these types of chop houses are just not my style. I feel they have a lack of creativity when it comes to cuisine. The only thing that sets all of them apart is the quality of cuts they get and how close to temperature they can get to request. Well, Charley had "ok" cuts and it was cooked to perfect temp to what I ordered (MR), but like ilovefood said, it wasn't worth the heavy bill at the end.

I love escargot and it was pretty good here but being able to make a staple such as this does not warrant an extra star. However, I also ordered the crab cakes and they were great. Very meaty with great slightly spicy sauce, not mushy like some I have had in the past. I believe this app is a good clue as to how the rest of the dinner is going to be. I have testing this theory and it actually works. If the restaurant has crab cakes as an appetizer, order it and compare it to the rest of the meal. In my case, the last 10 places I have tried this at, the meal followed suit. Good cakes, good meal, bad cakes, bad meal.

It was a delight dinning with you ilovefood, nice to find another coworker who is a foodie and not afraid to try new things. Glad you enjoyed the escargot.

I've been here a number of times over the years and they do have a great steak... it's not phenomenal like Jak's in Seattle (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), but it is very very good. They grill it over a wood fire, which gives it a nice smoky taste like you cooked it over a campfire.

Also the service was above average. The waiter lost a point with me though cause he kinda flinched when I chose a little-known (but excellent) wine from Oregon. He told me he'd never had anyone order it... too bad for them. He did split the check amongst 5 of us. That was nice.

They have great prices too. A very large porterhouse runs $35 and the surf and turf for two (20oz each of surf and turf to share) was $100.

They have Claim Jumper-sized desserts. We split a strawberry shortcake generously amongst three of us.

What I didn't like was the atmosphere. Think fake italian mafia restaurant.

My dad, a banker, frequents this house 'o steak on business trips. Figures, he would drag his family here on a trip to Disney.

I loved the exaggerated, almost cartoonish, new york steak house decor and low-lit atmosphere. The open grill at the front of the restaurant was awesome to see all fired up.

The wait staff usually comes out and does a song and dance about the cuts of meat that are on the menu.  Ours, however, did not. No idea why. He was extremely attentive, friendly and quick on refills. The menu was the standard steak house fare, so nothing special. The shrimp cocktail boasted huge skrimps and was absolutely delectable! I ordered the fillet and asked for it to be medium plus. The waiter looked at me funny and performed his monologue for a medium steak; warm pink center surrounded in gray blahblahblah. Then I said "no, medium plus please." Then he gave me the medium-well monologue; "hot with only a slight hint of pink blah blah." So I gave up and just ordered it medium. It was cooked very well, but a little crispy on the outside for my liking. The side of mashed potatoes was split by four people perfectly. Everything is a-la-carte, which can be annoying, but it was totally worth it.

A good experience. I'm just glad I didn't have to foot the bill. Yowza!

Everyone else seems to love Charley's, but I think ranks close to Longhorn.  The steak that I ordered cooked medium came out charred on the outside yet raw when I cut into it.  I had to send it back to the kitchen more than once.  The rest of the food was sub-par considering Charley's reputation.  Because we saw our server about three times during the entire meal, I'm not too impressed with the service either.  Other, much better, steakhouses in Orlando include Flemming's, Ruth's Chris, Houston's, and Stonewood.  Try any of these before you go to Charley's!

Went on Mother's Day with no reservation and got a table right away.  By far the best steak we ever had.  Service was slow - but we weren't in a hurry.  Nice wine list and salad bar.  The steaks were huge and melt in your mouth.  The dessert tray looked amazing - but unfortunately we were stuffed and couldn't eat another thing.  You can go casual or dressy.

On a trip for work, we happened on the "Top Ten Steakhouses" list on the airplane and this was number 1.  (Don't know the validity of how this list is based). I do know that this is still the best steak I've ever had. My fiancee' ordered the special "one per stud" filet mignon. black n blue. That was the juiciest, most tender piece of steak. I had the porter house. Go here next time you are near Disneyworld.

went here with a few coworkers. I was staaaarrrrvving. After a long plane ride to muggy Orlando, I was ready to eat. So we came to Charleys and sat to have a very long dinner. For some reason the whole thing was drawn out.. .it was strange. Anyways, everything was really pricey. It's a bit too much for my taste. I got the Filet MR, and it was good, but it wasn't anything fabulous. I did however for the VERY FIRST TIME try es cargo.. YEP. I had snails. and you know what!? I loved it! It was sooo good! Has a consistency of clams or mussels. It was doused in butter, but I guess that is the way you have it. I went in for seconds. It was really good, and probably the most enjoyable part of my meal. Thanks Jack for ordering!
