6 reviews for Charleston Alexander Diamond Importers
I had a reasonably good idea of what I wanted in an engagement ring but you never really know until you see the right ring in person. I made an appointment for Saturday morning and received a very warm & friendly welcome.
Patricia was extremely helpful without trying to sell me on anything in particular. I never felt rushed in the least. It was nice to take the time necessary to make such an important decision.
The prices are as good or better than anything I've found in the area. I'll put in another post once I pick up the finished product.
Although I'm not a "fan" of any jewelry store, I think all the 4 and 5 star ratings are appropriate.
Although things didn't quite come out as expected, they reassured us that they wanted to make sure we were completely satisfied even if it meant a full refund. The lady that helped us with everything was very pleasant and cordial.
They pay full attention to the customer at hand, which means you may have to wait around for a little while before someone gets to you...but once they do...you're golden (no pun intended).
I give five starts to Charleston Alexander Diamond Importers because my overall experience with them has been exceptional. They have two locations and I am reviewing the one in Bethesda, MD.
I have purchased two pieces of custom made jewelry from Charleston Alexander and each purchase experience was fantastic.
My first purchase from them was in March of 2006. For my husband's 33'rd birthday I wanted to do something really special. I had been promising James a diamond pinky ring since we got married (he took the diamonds out of his pinky ring and had them made into earrings for my first birthday present after we got married)
I started my loose diamond search online. I had a set price in mind and was really shocked at how BIG the diamonds you can get for your money at Charleston Alexander! I made an appointment and James and I stopped in to the Bethesda location to see the diamond in person. WOW! We purchased him a 1.75 carat cushion cut sparkler and we were able to find the platinum ring we wanted and the onsite jewelry maker custom fit the diamond into the band. I won't divulge the exact price but it was WAY less than we had budgeted and we have had SO many compliments on this beautiful custom piece over the years.
Fast forward to August of 2007. My second diamond / ring purchase.
This time for our 4th wedding anniversary. Again, we searched on line for the perfect stone and I found a 2.4 carat modified cushion cut in L color - I absolutely HAD to have it! James let me go to the store on my own and build my ring. It took me about 5 hours to find the perfect match between stone and setting - the salesman was patient and very helpful.
When we finally found the perfect match he was as excited as I was!
My ring is THE show-stopper. The diamond is amazingly sparkly and beautiful, subtle yellow - it looks like a glass of champagne sparkling away on my hand! The setting is absolutely gorgeous, by House of Baguettes. I added on a side treatment to the ring- I had the sides of the ring pave'd with diamonds for extra sparkle, and had my original platinum wedding band also pave'd with diamonds to match the new band.
I won't divulge how much I spent but again, it was FAR less than I had budgeted so I was really happy about that.
I am a true diamond aficionado, and Charleston Alexander is the real deal. My rings are one of a kind pieces of artwork, total show stoppers.
I wear them proudly and I love the compliments i receive!
If you are looking for excellent service and great prices please do yourself a big favor and go see them first.
Charleston Alexander was probably the 10th jeweler that I had visited in my 4 month long hunt for an engagement ring. When I first stepped into the store, I got the expected amount of attention I would from a reputable jewelry store: a warm welcome and service from a sales rep with an overly perky personality.
By the time I had set foot into the store, I had narrowed down the specs I was looking for in a diamond down to about a dozen very specific requirements in terms of GIA specs and dimensions. Given how specific I was, I was baffled to find that Charleston Alexander had not one, but two diamonds that matched what I was looking for, and at pricing that could match if not beat similar diamonds on BlueNile. I ended up picking the larger of the two diamonds, and to their credit, every other jeweler that I talked to, told me that it was an excellent bargain, and admitted they couldn't beat their pricing.
Customer service at Charleston Alexander was also top notch. It was a Thursday night when I decided that I was going to propose less than 36 hours later, on Saturday. The next morning at about 9am, I called and asked if I purchased a diamond and setting now, could they have it set and ready for me to propose by 2pm. Their immediate answer was "Done", and bumped my request to the top of their priority list. Now that's putting your customer first. Every other place I asked, said it would take a few days. Charleston Alexander made it happen. Oh and fyi, they did a good job setting the diamond too.
As a point of reference, I do not have much experience with this kind of store. But, I had a good experience here - friendly and effecient staff. We chose it because their website is informative and actually gives info about what's in stock, prices, etc. The Falls Church location gets crowded on weekends so if you are need assistance appointments are helpful to have.
I am always pleasantly surprised by the friendly, customer service oriented staff at CA. Diane usually helps us, but everyone is top notch. If the owner is in the back he always waves. Their selection is extensive and if they don't have it ask and they will make it happen. Price wise they will work with you, well I always think you should ask (bargain shopper here). DH got my engagement ring here and our wedding bands-every time I go in for a cleaning/polish they treat me like I walk in there daily and spend thousands-NOT! The weekend are crowded so go early-there is also one in Bethesda now so that may help with some of crowds.
