Our mission is: "To Provide the Ultimate Human-Powered Transportainment Experience".

Chariots of Philly is Philadelphia's first and most trusted bikecab (aka pedicab, bike taxi or rickshaw) service, established in 2003.

History

Established in 2003

We were established in Manayunk in October, 2003. Believe it or not, we began providing rides on Main Street before any of the following businesses opened their doors: Kildare's, Yunkers (formerly Tonic on Main), Munk & Nunn, Duff's Steaks, Cooper's, 105 Social, the Grape Room, JD McGillicuddy's, Machismo Burrito Bar, Manayunk Tavern, Cactus, Mango Moon, Sapphire Lounge, and Mad River.
From 2006 until 2010, the city restricted our operation while regulations were established, but we are finally back  (in addition are one or two other new companies) with expanded service, serving not only Manayunk but many more neighborhoods. Those include Center City, Northern Liberties, Fairmount, the Museum District/Ben Franklin Parkway, Rittenhouse Square, Society Hill, Bella Vista, Graduate Hospital, and other parts of South Philly. We also provide tremendous outdoor advertising opportunities on our mobile billboards.

Meet the Business Owner: Ben, Tom D.

Chariots of Philly was founded by Ben Dambman of the Philadelphia neighborhood of Roxborough in 2003. Service focused on evenings in the Manayunk neighborhood for the first 3 to 4 years. When service expanded to the rest of the city in 2006, city officials decided to put a hold on operations until regulations were put in place. Ben's brother Tom joined the company in order to help expand and integrate this new service into the transportation network of Philadelphia. The regulation process took over 3 years, and toward the end of this time, 2 other start-up companies joined with Chariots of Philly to form the Philly Bikecab Alliance. The city issued official licenses to these three companies on May 28, 2010, and Chariots of Philly is now operating a comprehensive short distance, human powered transportation service. They also offer exciting, head-turning mobile outdoor advertising opportunities for both local businesses and large corporations.
