I really love Char Hut, I have been a customer since I was like seven years old. It is totally a South Florida staple and I feel bad for all those other states that are missing out. In a nutshell its amazingly fresh food that is fast. Not to get confused with "fast food". When you get in line at Char Hut you can pick from a variety of freshly made options. I usually pick either the chicken sandwich or the steak sandwich. Customization is the best thing about Char Hut. You get to pick everything you want on your meal. From the bun to the cheese to the toppings. Then after you choose what you want, you get to watch them make it right on the grill in front of you. The service is friendly, the place is clean, and the food is fresh. Whats not to love?! I highly recommend you checkout Char Hut. If you're in a rush they have a drive thru so you can get your fix a little quicker. Check it out ASAP.
Note: I think this location is much better than Pines. -

If you love a great burger then Char Hut is a must stop for you. Flame broiled burgers at its best. I prefer my juicey Char Hut burger med-well on a wheat bun, good old fashioned american cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, onion, mustard, bbq sauce, and a hint of ketchup. It's like cheeseburger heaven these cheeseburgers will make your mouth water even if you ordered yours plain. The hot dogs are great too so if you love hot dogs, your kids love hot dogs, or you just need another reason to go Char Hut well hey I'm always ready for a meal. So stop in soon i intend on going there as a usual for my lunch break now.
Oh and for healthier eats try their grilled chicken sandwich on a wheat bun two thumbs up from me. -

Char Hut is a South Florida ONLY pleasure, and the quality tastes un-mass produced! My parents first brought me to Char Hut as a kid & it was all about the hot dog. Now-a-days, I insist on ordering the grilled chicken sandwich every single time without deviation. I keep wanting to try other items like the gyro but I always end up ordering the chicken sandwich combo with jalapenos and the fries with lots of malt vinegar. For $8 you get a real breast of chicken cooked to order with options to top cheese and/or bacon with your choice of different breads. You can even order a draft beer at their Sunrise location!
There are a few locations throughout Broward and is a must-do if you are passing by any of them around lunchtime. Since they make your food to order, you will have to wait for it to be cooked but is well worth the wait since the ingredients are real and fresh.
I haven't tried their catering but I think I will recommend this for our next office group lunch. I've always had great service and will be at one of the West Broward locations again soon!Listed in: My Neighborhood

This is a great place to get a juicy cooked to order Burger. They cook your Burger in front of you so you know its not sitting under a heat lamp. Will be back!

This place serves it's purpose for a quick (not fast), cooked-to-order burger and fries, and the grilled chicken is pretty decent as well. The quality and freshness of everything is above-average, the restaurant is spotless, the staff are nice, and there is a good selection of toppings, but there is nothing here that really stands out except for the onion rings, which are more like onion shreds but pretty amazing.

GET THE CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE! OH MY GOD. DELICIOUS!
This cool little burger joint is set up like Subway....but backwards. You order/pay first then watch your cook grill up your burger on the line. Then, you get to select what toppings you want smothered on your juicy piece of meat. MMMM....meaaaat.....
This place was clean and has lots of TV's everywhere. The staff was friendly, too. In fact I thought it was cute how the cook was talking football with one of the older customers as he was cooking up his burger. Nice to see people being nice to other people these days. It's rare! -

Food that's fast but far from fast food = CHAR HUT
This place is great in so many ways. All the food is cooked to order and grilled right in front of you. Both the chicken sandwich and burgers are some of the best I've ever had. Once you finally come to a decision about which one to get (or you can get the "Jack Stack" that has one of each), you then get to decide what you want on top of it. They have a huge selection of condiments and toppings to choose from. The fries and onion rings are flawless and always nice an hot. They also have veggie burgers and a variety of kids meals.
All this and more can be yours for the low price of....LESS THAN $10. A fresh, delicious sandwich, fries/onion rings and a drink for about 9 bucks. AND THEY HAVE A DRIVE THRU.
I recommend this place to every living soul. Please, do yourself a favor and get some Char Hut in your life. -

Now that's a tasty burger!
Very solid. Cooked to order in front of you. Looking forward to returning with my kids. -

delicious, made to order burgers with a killer condiment selection. their hamburger patties are made fresh daily. Cheese burger combo (with chili and drink) cost just shy of $8.
menu also offers grilled chicken, veggie burgers, hot dogs, and shakes.
when i'm in CA and craving a burger i hit In n Out. when i'm in FL it's Char Hut for sure... -

You can't go wrong here, everything on the menu is very good.
The original was in Hollywood, but now there is not one by my house, so anytime I am out west, I must go here. I always get the same thing, like I have for over 10 years...

A weekend of repeated trips to the promised land of cheap furniture and awesome photo frames (aka Ikea) lead us to this burger joint since the bf said he knew some guys at work that recommended the food. I'll give it to them that everything is cooked in front of you, and is completely custom to whatever tickles your fancy, but it stops about there. I've had better burgers and the strawberry shake I ordered was lacking in flavor - I prefer a shake with the real deal (ie real strawberries, not the syrupy stuff).
The staff was super friendly though, so that was really the only thing I was impressed with. However, compared to the other reviews I can see I'm definitely in the minority on the tastiness of the burger. Maybe we went on an off night. Regardless, I'm not sure I'll ever stop in to give it another try.
Side note: You know you're in South Florida when you can order black beans and white rice from a place specializing in burgers :-) -

How could you possibly go wrong, great food, friendly staff and it's always spotless clean. I order a double char burger with cheese and bacon, plus a side of chili cheese fries. Excellent every time ! A bit pricey but you get what you pay for, but its great ingredients !

Have I eaten at the same place as all these other reviewers, who are giving them 5 stars?
Char-Hut burgers are ok, but nothing I would crave or ever drive out of my way to get. Personally, I prefer McDonald's or Burger King, or even Wendy's, as far as chain burgers go.
The fact that Char-Hut burgers are grilled to order, NOT microwaved (which kills the flavor in the other chain burgers), and completely customizable as far as condiments and type of buns go are all pluses. Also, the staff at this branch have been friendly when I visited, and the place is always very clean.
Their fries were pretty awful the one time I tried them, so wouldn't order them again. I also don't love the cheese the put on cheeseburgers -"Swiss American," whatever that means. I'd prefer plain American, or cheddar, or several choices.
Note that Char-Hut burgers aren't exactly the cheapest chain burgers around. And adding bacon and cheese will bump the price up $1.50.
Another plus though is that this branch is just a few yards down the road from Scruby's, where you can get some decent barbecue. -

I feel compelled to write a review for one of the best restaurants on the planet. Char Hut is an institution in South Florida. I grew up in Fort Lauderdale and Davie, and though I haven't been back to Char Hut in a year or so (since I haven't visited in a while), the burgers are the best.
They're cooked right in front of you, the meat is fresh, the buns are so soft and good and you can choose what you want on your burger. Even better than the burgers is the Char Chicken. I used to get this with provolone cheese, some mayo, lettuce and tomato and I was in Char Heaven.
I think the Char Hut has moved since I used to go to it. I think it's in a shopping center just off Pine Island Road and SR84. It used to be on University just north of Orange Drive. And of course there's another one in Hollywood on 441. No idea if that's still there, but that was a staple during high school lunch runs.
For those of you in SoFla... please have a Char Chicken for me. -

It may be slightly more pricey than Wendy's or BK - but it's worth it.
Any of the grilled items are cooked right in front of you behind a glass counter, so you see what's happening. Once the food is finished, there is a full condiment bar so you can instruct the staff on exactly how you want it.
Fries are fresh and tasty and the onion rings are even better.
There menu is large with chicken, gyros, sausage and more - but I never strayed from the excellent burgers. They even have good wheat buns, for all you semi-health conscious burger lovers.
I've used them for catering a kid's party in a park and it turned out great! They cook on location, so the burgers, chicken and hot dogs came out really hot and good! The food was so good that some people were having third helpings!. Needless to say, I didn't order enough, but they bring extra in cases like this, so no one even noticed.
A few locations throughout So Fla. This place is definitely worth a try! -

The burgers are very much like any typical burger. The only great thing they got going for them is that they cook it right infront of you. I do however like their chicken sandwhich.

Very good place thats better than fast food...personally theyre known for their burgers, but Ive never had one...I ordered grilled chicken sandwhich--delish!! You order what topping u want, they have, I usually get it with cheese and lettuce. Also onion rinngs are very good too, thats what i recommend a burger or chicken sandwhich. A little pricey around $7.00 but u get your money's worth.

This is a fast-foody type place where they serve wings/burgers/sausages/latin dishes. After reading the positive reviews of the burgers, i had to experience it myself. Although the burger itself was good, i prefer Quickies (see my review). The burger at Charhut had grilled meat where they make it in front of you. After the meat is cooked you customize your burger to your liking, much like the setup of a subway, where they have ingredients that you just tell them to add. I made my burger mayo, honey mustard, lettuce, jalapeno, onion. You can also add bacon for an additional cost. The choice of buns are wheat, regular, poppy seed. I chose the poppy seed since the picture they chose to feature on their website had a burger with poppy seed buns. I also ordered the fries "dirty" which means chili/cheese. Any place that offers chili/cheese fries gets props from me! It was additional 1.50 from the combo that i ordered. The total cost was over 10 dollars, which is more expensive than Quickies. I would say the food here is above average, but not the best.
There is ample parking, a drive thru, and some small lcd tvs throughout showing espn. the seating is the same as any fast food place would be
I will return when im in the area. -

If you're looking for the best burger in South Florida, it ain't at Le Tub. Screw Oprah, man... She never tried Char Hut. The one minus at the Char is that you have to watch the people make your food. If you are hungry, this will make you want to grab the spatula from their hand and beat them with it, because it CAN'T COME FAST ENOUGH. I want some now...

Char Hut has the best burgers. My kids love it there. No matter what we order its good. Very organized when ordering too. Prices are a bit higher than average for a burger. Grilled chicken is a must for those wanting to eat lighter. St road 84 location...Why doesnt anyone eat outside? It fun to hear the cars on 595 and the orders being given at the drive thru. Better than sitting inside with the AC so cold.

It kills me that so many char huts have been closing down in south florida. When people talk about their favs like in n' out, 5 guys, etc., all I think of is that it's NO char hut. Char hut is by far my fav fast food type burger. And, even the hot dogs are good. Please char hut stay around!! And, open more locations. The burgers are made right in front of you.

Like the other review said, you order your food and then watch them make it. If you're in a hurry this can be a little frustrating. You want to reach out and flip your own burger! But once you get the food it's really good. And you can always go get yourself a drink while you are waiting. My friend had some special requests (Atkins diet) and they handled them with no problem. I had the veggie burger and it was good. I also got the fried plantains as my side dish and they were excellent.

Char Hut is not fast food. It is a hamburger restaurant. They also have chicken sandwich, sausage, etc. but you're there for the burgers. A single or double Charburger, with or without cheese, is cooked right in front of you. You see your burger transform from raw patty to cooked hamburger, and then transferred onto your toasted poppy seed bun before you advise them how to top it. And their veggies are always good and fresh. Awesome cheese fries too. I would eat Char Hut every day if I could.
