I had a really great time the friends I went with made it more fun also.
Good prizes on beer pitcher and alcohol. love this place =0) -

Pros:
Solid Bowling Alley
Decent Selection of Draft Beers
Full Bar (But a Little Weak)
Decent Food
Arcades and Tickets
Plenty of Parking
Cons:
Owners get stingy on off nights and may turn some lights off and a couple of draft beers empty -

San Dimas, CA
my family and i went out to play some pool and listen to music. we were hoping for karaoke but that wasnt going on this night. we meant some friends there too. they were drinking pitches of beer and i ordered food. we took my son, 7months old, he loves music, dancing, and socializing. everything was going great until this security guard came up and told us that we had to leave because my son was not 21yrs old or older. what?! we were already there for 2 hours with no problems. and we had just ordered food. i understand he was doing his job but this guy was just plain rude about it. i believe you can say anything, it is just how you say it. i told him to give me his card so i could complain about how he was treating us and he said we could go up and talk to the manager right now. so we did. i explained to her everything, and she said we could finish our food and go. oh the guy was pissed that we could stay! needless to say we did not see him the rest of the night! and the best was that the security guy was an undercover cop; he said he was concerned for my baby's safety, but yet when we were allowed to stay he was no where around to keep my son safe! he is great at doing his job! harassing a 7month old! way to protect and serve!!
the manager Mandy was great though, very nice and understanding.
we did not even stay much longer after that, because my son got tired. we just wanted to have a little fun while we could, while my son was awake himself and having fun.
needless to say, we will not be returning, which sucks because we enjoy playing pool!! -

Ahh, last night was tons of fun! I haven't gone bowling in so long! (Which reminds me.. I have no clue why I am up this early since we drank pitcher after pitcher of beer -_-.)
Anyways.. Chaparral Lanes, to my understanding, has been revamped since the last time my friends came here. It was my first time and I didn't really have anything bad to say. It was neat, spacious, and drew in a good crowd. We arrived around 9:15p and it looked busy but we were able to save two lanes for our group. While we waited for the other party, we sat at the bar and started ordering beer pitchers of Hefeweizen. They had a pretty standard list of beers and beers only.. sorry no hard liq-s! The only downside about the pitcher was the $14.50 pricing.. at least give us a bigger pitcher so a group of 4 can have two full glasses (hence the 'pitcher after pitcher' detail hehe).
The other half of our group lagged so we went ahead to start bowling. On Thursdays, it's $5 for a game and shoes.. then it's $2 per game after the initial start. Sweet deal! Also, the people at the desk were super nice and informative. If you couldn't find a good-sized ball at your lane, you could just ask them and they would kindly give you one to your liking.
So even though I'm no Lynda Barnes.. I can still bowl a mean 113 for being a little tipsy and still make it to 3rd place HAHA! Good times for sure! =)Listed in: For fun & then some.

Went here to hang out with friends and fam. Kids had a good time. Good selection at snack bar. Durning the last hour of out visit we had a large group needing a few lanes in a row. The manager came over and kindly explained the situation and offered to send over a large pizza if we were able to help accomodate and just move 1 lane over. No problem, we would have done it with out the pizza, but it was extremly nice and profesional for them to compensate us for moving

If you want to bowl in La Verne/San Dimas this is basically your only option.
Its a little run down and you get the feeling that with a hairstylists and a vacant spot this place seems a little desperate.
Prices are ok if you look for a deal.
I always will prefer bowling in Vegas.
You cant beat one dollar games at a top of the line alley with free shoe rentals!Listed in: Saintly San Dimas

I was very dissatisfied with the service/the ability for the owner to explain to us how we should be situated. paid for a lane for the kids and one for the adults. They claim it was our fault for not knowing what lane we should have bowled on. Ruined our day, kids were crying they wanted to keep bowling we made the choice to leave!! They said we are RIGHT!!! customer is wrong!!!! Good going in a bad economy!!

I came, I bowled, I got drunk.... Hahahahha! Actually, it was a friend of ours that got drunk...but what else is new!?!?
The lanes are easy here, which makes bowling fun for everyone! We paid $20 an hour for each lane, unlimited players. Since there were no leagues playing that night, we were able to reserve 4 lanes: 2 for the serious bowlers and 2 for the drinking bowlers. Guess which group I was in....
The have a good selection of draught beer, including my faves: Widmer Hef & Hoegaarden (yummmy!).
The guys were drinking Long Island iced teas, which was my drink of choice, when I bowled in league here a year ago. The C-Lanes Long Island iced tea was the reason I needed to drink "hangover juice" every Thursday morning after a night of league. I had never felt that way after drinking Long Islands from anywhere else. The reason, I think we finally discovered on that evening of June 20th!
Sooooo...you know how LIIT are usually made? The bartender pours a billion bottles of licker into a cup and splashes in a bit of coke or diet coke at the end. At C-Lanes, they use what appears to be a soda dispenser: they sit the cup under the spout, press some buttons and voila, your LIIT is ready! I got nothing but love for C-Lanes, but the shyte they put in your LIIT can't be top shelf! Could it be all that low grade alcohol with a SPLASH of the residual coke/diet coke caught by the soda dispenser tray? Ewwwww...heck if I know!! But that shyte made my friend drunk as hell!
The next day, I text his wife the recipe for my hangover juice. I'm sure he needed it badly. -

Chaparral Lanes is a really fun place to bowl, drink and hang out at especially when you get to do all of that for free. One of my buddies works here so every so often when we get bored we'll come here to have fun. This is the only place I have ever bowled at and done well. I even beat Nik Riddick once here. They have plenty of lanes (more than the Cadillac Club!) so there is plenty of room to bowl. At the bar the liquor and beer selections are pretty good as well. I wasn't expecting such a wide variety at a bowling alley.
The only bad thing I can think of is their music stations they have are out dated but other than that this place is awesome. -

The bars pretty cool here. They make a great bloody marry. Don't usually get those unless I'm here though. Karaoke fun! Went bowling here yesterday too. $3.75 a game plus shoe rental not bad. For something to do local it's a good place to hit up.

This place is large! Lots of lanes and a big lounge with plenty of tvs, darts, pool table and karaoke.
It's not too shabby, just shabby enough to be a relaxing place to hang out to bowl or watch a football game. The prices are fair for games/shoes/drinks. But the food here leaves a lot to be desired in terms of taste/price. -

Spent 5 mins in the bar on a friday night at about 10:30pm, it was dirty and trashly.
I love a bar with lots of random people but the people who were their, just sat their like slugs watching people walk in and out like they were vampires waiting to eat the group i walked in with....
The karaoke system sounded like crap also... -

First time here was last night. An old friend of mine invited me. The place is HUGE like everyone says outside of the place doesn't look like an bowling alley more like a bar on the left side of the huge building.
It was a saturday night @ 10pm so its Cosmic Bowling for $15 including shoes. there's a sign that says "$60.00 for group of four for one lane" we have the total of eight people somehow we got two lanes. There's no ins&outs so they make you wear a risk bands. At the bar when buying a pitcher of beer everyone in your party has to show ID's to get a damn cup, if your drinking. We played about 4 games 10pm-1:30am not bad for $15. DJ played some good music through the night. Will be coming back here again. It gets crowded so get there early! -

the first time i bowled at chparral lanes was when i was fifteen and i accompanied a good friend of mine to her sadie hawkins dance (not really a dance, she went to a private christian school). that was 10 years ago (wow i'm old). since then i have been back a few times to go cosmic bowling but it's been years since i've been because before friday night i hadn't been there since before i was old enough to drink. now that i am more than old enough to drink i finally made it into the bar section that i so desperately wanted to go to as a kid. it was pretty cool, reminded me of a dive with pool tables, karaoke and those people you can tell are regulars.
the bowling section and the bar are very spacious, the staff is very nice. my only complaint is that it does seem a little bit run down and has the vibe of a place that would be located in the middle of nowhere, like the outskirts of norco or somewhere like that. i would hit up many other bowling allies before i hit this one up. but i definitely had a good time celebrating my cousin's birthday that night and i'm happy to finally have made it into that bar =). -

San Dimas, CA
I've been coming here for years and have always had a great time. We used to refer to this place as CRAParral, but I must say the recent renovations have greatly updated this place. Changes have scared away a lot of the old riff raff and brought back a safe atmosphere. The bar is now very pleasant and even has a stage for live bands. There is a bunch of pool tables and even free dart boards. They now boast a huge beer selection although half of them are flat or out of order. If you're looking to have a good time for fewer than 20 bucks come to Chaparral.

S.M. - I wouldn't even give them a 2. At least not for bowling. The owner is rude and I had a big gouge taken out of my ball. Then 3 days to fix it. I will drive to Covina bowl. (And Diamond Bar is owened by the same)

I bowl here every once in a while, but since turning 21, it's one of the few good hang out spots in the area. Guess where most of my time is spent? ;D The bar is pretty nice, especially since they have started remodeling. Pool tables, a few video games and Karaoke on the weekends. The drinks aren't as great as they used to be as they have a little machine that measures out exact shots now (insert sad face here), but prices are still on the cheaper side. The bartenders are friendly and fun to talk to. All in all, a good time. :)

We come here a lot for karaoke and we always have a great time (mind you, we make the best of every situation though). Karaoke is always a good time, and the drinks are reasonably priced. The only complaint that I have is the bartenders were extremely rude to my husband last time we went, but are usually pretty nice...maybe they had a rough night, who knows. All in all, good times have been, and continue to be had here!

bowlers are serious. they don't mess around. saturday nights are insane. nuke at night, they like to call it. $15 per person from 10 pm to 1:30 am including shoe rental. not bad at all.
the bar was ridiculously busy. don't get in the way of bowlers and their drinks. i gotta say tho, those damn 21 and over bracelets don't mean much. i still had to show my ID even tho i clearly had my bracelet on.1 Previous Review: Show all »

You get what you pay for, reasonably price for the drinks and bowling. Walked in on a Saturday night and no waiting, mixed crowd young, old, couples and families, nice athmosphere. After 10pm forget about you score because the disco lights are on and it's time for grooving and karaoke in the bar.

Review from S. M.
Pasadena, CA
Boy has this place taken a turn for the worst...it seems the owners of this place don't care about the lanes, at all.
They only care about the appearance of the place. They have spent quite a lot of money to upgrade the bowling alley cosmetically by replacing all of the counters and chairs. They added flat panel TVs all around, including the snack bar menu (not sure why). They also upgraded the air conditioning (but I don't think they ever turn it on). They even upgraded the gutters! (Whoop-di-doo!)
But it seems the lanes are deteriorating quickly and the pinsetters have gotten pretty bad, in the last year, and they don't care. Getting nicks and scratches on your ball seems to be a regular occurrence. I've had 2 instances where my ball was significantly damaged (required fixing at the pro-shop) and my teammates have had 3 instances.
Lately, the owner has been pretty rude to the league bowlers (I'm not sure what that's about). If you are a league bowler and make any type of complaint to her, she will snap back at you and (I swear I have heard her tell this to at least 2 people) she will tell you that she doesn't need your business and that you should go bowl somewhere else. Pretty damn rude if you ask me, especially since the leagues are the lifeblood of any bowling alley.
The rest of the staff is still very courteous. Snack bar is still good. Bar is still good.
I'd recommend this place if you are just going out to bowl with some friends. But if you are looking to join a league, go somewhere else...the owner doesn't need your business!Listed in: My Neighborhood
