I've gone for breakfast twice and lunch and have had consistently good food and service. It can get a bit crowded  and when it's busy, the food takes a bit longer, but the cornmeal waffle (around $8) is worth it!

For lunch, I tried the chicken panini (around $10)that had some kind of grilled pineapple mango salsa or something like that, and it was DELICIOUS! My Mom and Grandma shared one Ciopppino with caesar salad and the portions were VERY generous, all the varieties of seafood were as fresh as can be, and our waiter, (I think his name is Troy) was so polite and well-mannered and helpful.

This is now my go-to for lunch with the girls, breakfast with a friend, and I look forward to trying dinner sometime soon and maybe dessert too!

Park along main street in Edmonds and enjoy a lovely stroll through a beautiful, quaint, artsy seaside town.

We just moved to Edmonds and are wanting to experience all the local spots. We stopped in for a light lunch and after reading the reviews on Yelp we agree with most of them. The food is nothing memorable. I had the Grilled chicken and Brie panini with the pear chutney along with a cup of the lentil/leek/chorizo soup. The soup was a bit salty, and the chicken was bland. The panini would have been good if everything was seasoned properly, instead it just came off as bread and sweetness from the pear chutney.

However that being said, it is a cute little joint that I think we'll give another chance. I grew up in a small town and it really has that "small town" feel. But I just wish that the cooks would learn how to season the food, then there would be no need for salt and pepper shakers on the table.

I dined here for the first time on Saturday night with a party of 6 and ordered from their specials menu (soup, salad, and an entree).

The soup and spinach salad I had were actually pretty good, but the hazelnut crusted chicken was overcooked, the veggies were tepid, and the mashed potatoes were definitely from a powdered mix. Two of my friends had the scallops and they were so overcooked one of them didn't eat them.

Oh and it was over an hour from when we ordered until we got our entrees, and the restaurant wasn't crowded at the time we were seated. It's a shame since the menu has tasty sounding food on it, but the execution is very poor. I could have done a better job cooking all of the entrees and I'm a software engineer, not a chef.

We were there in time for the $11.99 "early-bird" dinner menu (4-6 pm), and the food was easily worth three times that. The tomato bisque was freshly made, and wonderfully rich and thick; the clam chowder was packed with clams. I had the pork loin with apricots and cranberries, and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. My friends had the lasagne and Dijon chicken, and were equally impressed.

I'd write about the desserts, but I'm afraid I'd drool all over my keyboard. All I can say is that I'd go through all nine circles of hell for the Dante torte...

The service was as amazing as the cuisine. We arrived when it was close to empty, and left when it was close to packed, but the service never wavered. I think every member of the staff checked in on us; our actual waitress was cheerful, knowledgeable, and prompt.

I just wish I lived closer so I could go back more often!

I have had breakfast and dinner here several times. I almost always get a #1 eggs over medium, cranberry/lemon muffin and bacon. I recently had dinner there and I had the pork chops. They were very scrumptious... BUT the tomato bisque is the most amazing part of Chanterelle's for sure!

The atmosphere is nice and very Edmondsy. The location works well for me to meet family and friends.

I can be pretty picky about say .. dressing on the side and bacon not over cooked and eggs perfectly medium.. you get the idea. The servers are very courteous and are always helpful to make me happy.

There are two things here that are outstanding: the tomato bisque and the brie and pear quesadilla. They are both delicious.

Everything else? Not so much. I have tried a few seafood pasta dishes for dinner, and they've been bland and overcooked. I've also had a couple of breakfast omelets with ingredients that tasted past their prime. No thanks.

The location is nice, right in the heart of downtown Edmonds, but the interior is tired and sad. I think they were aiming for a kind of country, antique-y feel, but instead, they landed on drab. The service could be better, too.

What they ought to do is narrow down their menu and do a few things well, rather than have dozens of bland options. Or, if good food isn't going to be their thing, they need to at least have a better atmosphere and good service.

I will say they offer a number of good, local wines. That's a big plus, in my book.

I have family who loves this place because it's easy walking-distance from their home, but I'd rather stop here for a container of tomato bisque to-go, and get a good meal someplace else.

I'm always hesitant to order eggs benedicts because it is (mystery to me) somehow so easy to screw up. I ordered it, and wisely so, I ordered the sauce on the side.
First of all, the coffee sucks. Probably hours old.

Second, the hollandaise sauce was like melted butter colored with some space-age polymer yellow. Thank god it wasn't smothered all over my food.

Third, the chef seems to not know the difference between poached eggs and hard-boiled eggs. Also, they were laid out on some Costco-brand english muffins that were soggy. If it weren't for the smoked salmon that carried the whole plate, I don't know what I would have done.

My friend's crab cake benedict was no better. Again, hard-boiled eggs on top of soggy yet dry (never knew that was possible) excuse for crab cake.

To make things even better, the service sucked. (Somebody teach this waitress how to pour water without pouring it all over the table. Also, that if you do spill water, you are to clean it up)

    All for ~$17.
Umm... yeah, just don't go. Head out on the street, turn the corner, and go to Red Twig if you're looking for decent breakfast.

Walked in at 11:15am, we sit down and notice the lunch portion of the menu doesn't start until 11:30am. We order coffee and by the time the server walks over to take our order it's just after 11:20. We ask if it would be possible to order lunch rather than breakfast. She says, that wouldn't be possible. We asked the manager/owner, he also says they cannot provide lunch yet. We thought this was a little weird, but we couldn't spare any more time because we were getting on the next ferry.

Long story short, my wife and I both ordered a greek omelet. And it was a huge mistake. 100% canned and frozen ingredients. Not one fresh veggie. Many of the ingredients mentioned on the menu were not included, and other things were added.

To conclude, the meal was terrible, the service was sub-par, but the coffee was good. I feel like I'm being extra generous with these two stars I'm shelling out. But they did allow me to pour my coffee into a to-go cup and leave with it (that's how they saved themselves from a single star rating).

    Will I return? Absolutely not.

Dinner tonight at Chanterelle was upsetting because it ended up being $60 worth of let downs. The salad was overdressed and wilted while the clam linguine was completely unseasoned - I mean not one grain of salt was to be found or tasted!  Both the linguine and poor clams were overcooked;  the former being soggy while the latter were dried, shriveled and chewy. Even squeezing half a lemon on top of everything didn't help.

Their desert menu was pretty impressive with a lot of choices. The bread pudding was ok, should have gone with the pumpkin cheesecake.

We went here for Valentines Day and I must say I love this place!  It's cozy but not too close to other tables.  The accoustics are great so even if it is full, you can still hear conversations without a problem.  The bread and tomato bisque are absolutely wonderful.  I had the Baked Chicken, Boneless breast, stuffed with Brie and Baby Spinach andPink Peppercorn and Brandy Cream Sauce served with Risotto and seasonal Vegetables for 19.99 and that came with a salad and soup.  For dessert I had the white chocolate coconut cake.  Delicious!  And what they say is so true:  Casual Fine Dining without the Expense or Pretense. For $100 before tip we each had soup, salad, entree, dessert and purchased 2 bottles of wine.  You've got to give this place a try!

Went there for Sunday brunch and had the crab cake Benedict. I gave 2 stars only for the staff who was friendly and quick to attend to us and for the fact that with the fresh fruit came real pineapple and not canned...crab meat was really bland, hollandaise tasted like it was instant or from a box, eggs were good though. Was over priced for sure for what they serve, could get the same quality for half the price elsewhere. Decor felt like they just dressed up a dive cafe with pretty art and wine. The sign is deceiving, nothing super special about the food...

Best tomato bisque you can probably find in edmonds and the brie and pear quesadilla is great.   Rest of food is solid but mostly uninspired.  Still, it's 5 star bisque, so 4 stars it is.  Uneven hours make planning to go here difficult unless you are on a standard eating schedule.

Cozy and very comfortable. Went to Chanterelle for breakfast and ordered the crap load of food. Eggs with ham slice and the salmon omelet. The Eggs with Ham slice was cold and the salmon omelet was a bit on the salty side. At least the pancakes were good. Nothing really to rave about but not a horrible dining experience.

We go here for breakfast about once a month.  The prices are a tad on the high side, but I've had consistently good eggs, waffles, muffins, and coffee (the things I usually order).  The one item I've never liked is the potatoes that come as a side for many of the entrees. Now they offer fresh fruit as an alternative to the potatoes (for additional $, natch). It's nice to have an option other than the rather horrible potatoes, but I feel it shouldn't cost extra, unless they work on making the potatoes a lot tastier and therefore a viable option.

The decor is a little passe (fake flowers and tired artwork), but the actual architecture does have a kind of cozy, homey feel to it.  I noticed they recently hung several acoustical panels from the ceiling, so that really helps cut down on the noise.  I've been for lunch and dinner a few times, and it was not as good as the breakfasts (not bad, just not good enough to justify the price). Yes, the tomato bisque is good.  Other than that, they really don't have much in the way of consistent vegetarian options, which is why I usually don't bother to try them for lunch or dinner anymore.  When all you can order off the menu is one soup, one salad, or one pasta dish, it gets old really fast.

The service is always excellent, and I feel like everyone really cares about our dining experience.  Really, if not for the service, we probably wouldn't come as often as we do for breakfast.  If only the lunch and dinner options were as varied and tasty as the breakfast menu, I'd be giving them five stars.

What happened?  Chanterelle had become our go-to breakfast spot, especially when we have guests, but the last three visits have been very disappointing.  Service was fine, but the food was just not what we were used to.  Portion size went down, but plate size did not: our plates had the food spread thin over the surface to fill up space, resulting in food that cooled practically before you get it.  Quality went down: grilled potatoes that were way over cooked, an omelette that was actually a scramble (and a messy one at that), and a muffin that was small, oily, and with a taste that makes me think it came from the store - just to name a few.  I don't want to give up just yet, but I think we will be taking a break from here for a while.

I've only been here for lunch (twice), as I work in Edmonds but live in Seattle. Both times, however, were really good.
The first time I had the steak sandwich with a side of the broccoli salad. Although the steak sandwich was not quite as flavorful as it could have been, the bread it comes on is perfectly chewy and the sandwich was still quite tasty. But, OhMyGosh! The broccoli salad was *awesome.* The broccoli itself was fresh and the dressing was wonderfully piquant. The raisins and red onion were a great texture and flavor addition. Scrumptious.

Today, I had the chicken & brie-with-a-touch-of-cheddar-and-pineapple-chutney panini and a cup of the -- yes, amazing -- tomato bisque. The bread it's served on is, again, yummy; the chicken was of good quality; and the brie 'allotment' was decent. However, although the chutney was interesting, it seemed to lack something. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I think the classic combo of chicken, brie, and honey mustard would've been better. Still a tasty sandwich.
Annnnnd the bisque... It seems to have all been said before, but I will reiterate: this is a deliciously seasoned bisque with just the right amount of cream. The chunks of tomato were a pleasant surprise and make it rather unique as far as bisques go. I'm sure a big bowl of this soup is perfect on a cold, wet Northwest winter day.

I will definitely return here to sample their other lunch items -- and select something from their tantalizing dessert case!

This is a very cute and casual dining spot in downtown Edmonds that supposedly has great breakfasts and definitely has amazing tomato bisque soup.

What I've Had:  Tomato Bisque Soup, Chicken Enchiladas

The tomato bisque is creamy and just amazing.  Probably the best tomato bisque that I've ever had.  Huge chunks of tomatoes, amazing taste, herbs, spices and just wow.  I would come here JUST for the tomato bisque soup and I was tempted to give 5 full stars because of how good it was.  The chicken enchiladas were average although very nice chicken breast was used.  It just didn't taste authentic at all and had a very americanized feel/taste to it.  Very good, but not what I was craving.

Loved the tomato bisque soup, the service was super friendly and the place is very cozy.  Put these together and I had a very pleasant dining experience here and look forward to trying out the breakfast sometime as well!

The first thing that we did once we arrived in our new hometown of Edmonds after a long road trip up from California was to walk into town and get something for dinner.  We decided on Chanterelle and although I don't know if I'll eat there that many more times, we still feel like we picked a good place for our first meal as new Edmonds residents.

I had a three course meal consisting of Tomato Bisque (very good), a salad (solid) and salmon topped with red thai curry.  The salmon was fresh, huge and cooked perfectly but the red thai curry was bland and the dish would've been wholly unremarkable if not for an amazing slaw that topped the whole thing.  That slaw took the salmon from pedestrian to very good itself.

My wife had a gigantic pastry filled with chicken, spinach, mushrooms and goat cheese that she enjoyed, mainly because they didn't skimp on the cheese one little bit.

The problem with both dishes was simply that neither were really remarkable.  Something was missing in both and, considering the price, it should have been there.  What that something was, I'm not totally sure, but it was missing whatever it was.

The best thing about the meal, and the reason that I am willing to give Chanterelle four solid stars despite food that was missing something is that the service was outstanding.  We brought our five month old baby with us and all of the waitresses were very friendly and wanted to see her.  And when she managed to get a hold of my wife's wine and spill it all over herself, the waitresses didn't get mad or anything, they just quickly got a towel, helped mop it up, and even gave my wife a new glass of wine.  It was a very classy move that they didn't have to do and we would've understood.

So for having excellent service, being our first meal in Edmonds and the being the site of the first really huge mess that our little girl made, Chanterelle earns itself four stars.

I am not a fan of french toast at ALL- but Chanterelle's was pretty good. The space at Chanterelle is nice and the atmosphere VERY EDMONDS. Basically a lovely place.

For breakfast on a weekday, Chantrelle's was easy to get into and the menu had more than a few promising items. My father's scramble with fresh vegetables looks quite delicious- while my lightly egg coated airy French toast was just right for the beginning of a busy long day. I didn't even need the syrup that came with the dish.

The service was hit or miss. My father was please though that our server followed his instruction on how to assemble his iced americano.

A nice classy place to have Breakfast in Edmonds. The food is good and they have wine and champagne available. There is also espresso available. Prices are mid range. Your going to pay a little more, but the food is better then your average breakfast place. Service is good but can be a little slow if they get real busy.

They get real busy so you can expect to wait if you come a weekend.

I really like their breakfast menu.  I haven't tried dinner or lunch here in several years, but I'd like to.  My favorite breakfast item is the smoked salmon scramble, but the mexican scramble and the spinach/ mushroom scramble are both excellent too.  The eggs benedict was pretty good, but honestly, I've had better hollandaise sauce at other places.

I'm happy to see that they have retained many of the items on the old breakfast menu from about 10 years ago.  Though I do wish they'd switch back to Torrefazaione coffee (or does it not exist anymore after the Starbucks acquisition?).

As for dinner, the jambalaya is amazing!  I wish I had ordered that instead of the dry, tough steak I ordered.  :(  Their tomato bisque soup is legendary.

Chanterelle was recommended to us (by an engineer -- we should have known better).  Three of us went for a late-evening light meal after a long day of meetings.

I've been eating lots of Caesar salads topped with salmon while working in the Puget Sound area.  Chanterelle doesn't offer salmon on its Caesar, so I went with chicken.

What I got was under-dressed romaine, chopped too fine, with the most bone-dry chicken breast I've had in many a year.  How dry?  I had to take swigs of water to choke down a few bites before giving up on the chicken, and I basically had a plate of romaine for dinner.  Chicken breast drier than the dust in the old college textbooks in boxes in my garage.  Drier than a dust storm on the Black Rock Desert.

Seriously:  The Tiki Taki around the corner makes a better Caesar, by far.

The three of us split dessert, which was good.

Note to self: do not eat in places with fake plants...

If I didn't know better, I would think Chanterelle meant "trying hard to be good". It's like a girl that looks pretty with lots of makeup and fancy clothes, but looks scary in the morning. This place wants to be a chic cutesy bistro, but the food does not live up to the name.

My fish taco was dosed in salsa that tasted like they dumped cumin into some Pace. The Caesar dressing was not house made.

For the prices they are charging and the way they present themselves, the food should be much more delicious.

My daughter's hot ham and cheese was pretty damn good though. Hard to get that wrong.

To be fair, I've only been here for lunch.  As far as Edmonds dining goes, Chanterelle's is definitely above par and a better choice than say, Claire's Pantry, for brunch or lunch.

I've had the Salmon sandwich, tasty but not amazing.  Honestly I think that Anthony's Beach cafe cooks their fish better.  The Main Street Meatloaf is enticing and a must try, but actually for a meat lover like myself, not up to par with my sister's homemade version.  Lacking flavor, but definitely savory and comforting.

The cafe itself is cute and full of Edmonds charm.  Good, dependable service; casual, calming atmosphere; and decent food are the attributes that makes this an Edmonds staple.

Chanterelle. You have given unto me one hearty and rich but overpriced dinner, a single good breakfast and a few more inconsistent ones. The menu is typical Edmonds '80s, as are the numerous impressionist self portraits of the restaurant. It's like a hubristic teenage girl posting shots of herself under the guise of celebrating friendship.

The high ceiling reflects a lot of noise making for a loud dining experience. Under the side tables and service areas is a typical diner hash of creamer cups, napkins, toast crusts, and miscellaneous crumbs. While the food itself may suffer from inconsistency, the aforementioned collection is ever present.

I've had one good latte and one bad, barely warm latte with 50% too much syrup. The drip is decent. I've had toast come late and eighty-sixed muffins. One person's plate can come hot and fresh while another's simultaneously arrives cold and coagulated. The breakfast potatoes suck but they can scramble eggs without overcooking them.

While the eggs benedict may have had nicely poached ova and silky hollandaise, what it rested upon was atrocious. The canadian bacon was not readily recognizable as a ham product. it was a veritable sausage of some kind of salty pink emulsion, encapsulated in a brown plasticized casing. Lastly, I would have liked the toasted english muffin to have been buttered.

Stick with the bagel and lox, you get a ton of capers, sliced tomatoes and greens but you need an extra cream cheese.

For lunch, the cioppino came with toasted bread hunks sinking and getting soggier by the second in the middle of my soup. When the waitress saw that I was using my shell bowl as a bread plate she paused to ask if I wanted a bread plate. The flavorful broth was thick with tomato body and herb, having a nice liquid to fish ratio. Mussels and clams were accompanied by firm textured and properly cooked pieces of white fish and salmon. It was filling and felt healthful.

As for the overpriced dinner. It was a roasted leg of lamb in a deep brown sauce with too much demi-glace. Tender, crisp veggies and creamy mashed potatoes were nothing original.

Chanterelle is hit and miss, dish by dish or more often having inconsistency on single plate.

    5 stars for breakfast/brunch!

    The skinny:
    --cozy atmosphere
    --friendly, prompt service
    --delicious food

I recommend the Lox and Bagel, Smoked Salmon Scramble, and Crab Benedict.  When asked whether you want toast or muffin--yes, muffin!--get the muffin.  Comes out oven-fresh: crispy on outside, soft and warm on the inside.  Both the Cranberry/Orange and the Morning Glory are excellent!

    Their potatoes are okay.
Pancakes are of the thicker variation (not fluffy), but still good.
Fresh squeezed orange juice, while really sweet, tastes like fresh squeezed orange juice.

The whole experience is elevated when the sun shines so check the weather forecast.  Afterwards, you can stroll around Main St. to walk off the food and take in the charm of the city.

I love the Tony's coffee. They have very goooood espresso also, and you get an amusingly large cup if you order a grande for table service.

Food is very good, not gi-normous portions like most restaurants, but enough to fill you up. I like the salads, the tomato bisque is always a hit. They gladly substituted tortilla chips for flour tortillas with something I ordered, so the can accommodate gluten-free needs.

Dinner is something special, but I haven't been lately.

I haven't had a bad experience bringing kids here, but another reviewer has.

They aren't great for large groups, they just don't have the room. And they don't do separate checks for large groups. But I've had great service and luck with  groups from 2-6 people.

A great combo of casual, fresh Northwest cuisine!
Their breakfast is delish- we had the eggs benidict with canadian bacon and southwest omlet. Both were very good.
For lunch I had the chicken pesto sandwich with broccoli salad- SO GOOD!
Very cozy environment, very good food for a fair price.

For lunch - get the tomato bisque!! Delicious!  Prices are a little too much.  Breakfast is typical breakfast, but a great place to meet friends and socialize.

Yelp's two star definition "Meh. I've experienced better." sums up my thoughts precisely.  I had a fish dish on my first visit which I would rate maybe 2.5/3 stars.  On my last visit I tried a roast pork loin special which I'm certain was a chop cut and not a tenderloin cut.  It had a cream sauce with fruit that I believe broke.  The sauce wasn't completely creamy, it had a partly watery consistency.  It would have been a better dish if they just blended up the fruit and put it on top and skipped the cream sauce.

There are a few other places nearby that I think are much better.

Best breakfast in Edmonds. For lunch go with a sandwich and the outstanding tomato bisque. Dinner is okay but nothing special.

    Disappointing-

I agree with the reviewer who said Chanterelle was"trying hard to be good" - it looked fab from the outside and I was so hopeful.  Service was ok but the food - eh.  I was in the mood for a salad and combed the menu to pick the one that sounded best - Chicken and Goat cheese salad.  Well, I might as well have stopped by the grocery store and whipped this up myself.  It was fine - but not great.  BF had the meatloaf sandwich that came soaked with sauce but still had two pieces of bread - there was no way you were gonna pick this puppy up.  It would have been a total mess.

I want to go back... it seemed so promising - but really I think we shouldn't.

Enjoyed dining with gourmet Salmon sandwich and delish tomato bisque!  Impressive little place! I love those small town restaurants! We are from Portland, OR and Riverside, CA visiting the NW states!

I used to love Chanterelle... well, basically the tomato bisque. But something has changed and the last few times we've gotten the bisque it tastes different. Not that it's bad mind you... but just not the same as we were used to for years (not AS good). So whereas before we used to get it once a week, now it's more like once a month. And before, you would get a bowl to go and they'd throw in bread & butter. Now you have to ask, beg, PLEAD for that bread & butter. And they'll give you a tiny portion of bread unless you request otherwise. I know times are tough... but don't change a good thing!!!

    Breakfast is pleasant.
Dinner is yummy (garlic shrimp & lamb shank)
Lunch is OK... nothing special for my liking.

Our second choice for breakfast out in Edmonds.  When Pancake Haus is too busy we are happy to go to Chanterelle for something different.  Nice atmosphere and good service.  Good place to bring out of town guests.

My favorite place for breakfast.  Their service is good, the food is good and it's fun to meander around Edmonds for a while after your meal.  I've had lunch there once and it was ok...not great.  Stick with breakfast and you won't be disappointed!
