Good food - friendly, fast service=WIN.
Husband and I went at around 8pm on a Saturday. No reservations, seated immediately. Waitress was very nice and made a great recommendation for husband (his first time eating Thai).
I got (my fav) phad see ew tofu - classic and delicious. He had crispy garlic chicken. Both were delivered quickly and devouered just as fast. The rice that came with the dishes was PERFECT. (I know weird to gush about white rice but it's an often overlooked component)
Bonus - Husband couldn't finish his meal so we took it home and they gave us extra rice for the road!!
Decor is nice, modern and still inviting - Will DEFINITELY be back soon!! -

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night with a couple of co-workers.
This place was super hard to find when you are looking for it while driving in a car. But walking in the cold for 5 minutes was well worth it!
There was bit of a wait when we arrived so we sat at the bar and ordered some drinks until our table was ready.
We ordered the princess curry, chicken and vegetable dish. One of the best currys I've had, all the vegetables were cooked perfectly not to soft or under-cooked.
I would come here again during my next visit to Seattle. -

Going here for lunch is good, providing you with some yummy congee soup that comes with your main dish. Their lunch specials are yummy as well. My favorite is the Phad Kee Mao and Thai Basil Fried Rice w/ extra basil. It does get crowded at times for lunch so plan accordingly.
As for Happy Hour, all I can say is WOOOOOOWEE!! Drinks are strong YO! Definately come here if you are looking to get pre-funked or wasted. -

I like Chantanee. The service can be somewhat slow, but their noodle dishes are darn good. I really enjoy their pad khi mao noodles with chicken. The chicken is never overcooked and there is always plenty of egg in the dish, as well as vegetables and noodles of course.
I have tried their curries and I am not as big a fan of those and tend to stick to the noodles or stir fry dishes here.
The sizzling beef dish is also fantastic and I have always enjoyed their lunch specials. -

The space is hard to find. Park in the subterranean parking lot of the Key Bank Building. Take elevator to 1A, walk straight through the lobby and out the doors, immediately turn right and walk down the stairs to the entrance. The BEST PART of this joint is the cocktail bar in the back of the restaurant. Naga Bar gets 5 starts - hands down.
As it concerns the restaurant: The Yum Salad w beef gets 5 stars, as do the Fresh Salad Rolls with Prawns. The super nice staff and the beautiful decor also get 5 starts.
The Pad Thai gets 0 stars. Among the worst I have ever had. There is also this beef thing that I would avoid. It smells good as it comes sizzling on an iron plate, but it is too sweet and is not good as a left over (which should be against the rules). I have not tried many menu items after the pad thai incident... but the things we get are PERFECT every time and the cocktails are AWESOME IN ALL REGARDS.
Parking is validated in the evening, but be careful before 5pm, as the parking is only good for 2 hours. And yes, I have had occasion to be there for more than 2 hours on a weekday afternoon. The Cocktails at NAGA BAR ARE THAT GOOD! They are among the best craft cocktails in the Seattle area. PERFECT! They also have, what must be, among the largest selections of ABSINTH in the area and all the accoutrements.
BONUSES:
+Open ALL AFTERNOON!
+SERVING PERFECT COCKTAILS
+They have regular (not sweet) sticky rice!!!
DRAWBACKS:
-Terrible Pad Thai (sorry guys--- fix it and I'll change the review, and eat there even more than I already do, but it had to be said.) -

Very nice place. Upon Entering I expected to be served small portions at high price but was pleasantly surprised as the dishes were quite large and very good. The prices are reasonable for the atmosphere and the food portions. They could have been a bit hotter but overall they were quite tasty. Really enjoyed my experience and would recommend it to other peeps as well.

Yummy pumpkin curry!
This is probably the most widely known Thai place on the Eastside and perhaps the second most revered in the area behind Thai Tom. Chantanee is one of those places that I have had on my "to try" list that I never got around to trying until recently when I had a work lunch here.
There are several Thai places in the vicinity to choose from. Of these, Chantanee is the largest and most elegant looking. It is located in the Key Center across from the Bellevue Transit Center. Take the stairs down from Starbucks to find it.
Despite the locale in downtown Bellevue, they do have validated parking. There is even a Facebook page video showing you how to get to the parking garage!
The interior of this restaurant is modern and expansive. They also have a nice lounge called Naga that is among the best in the area in crafting cocktails.
For lunch, they have a lunch specials menu and also the regular menu available. The lunch specials menu consists of several combos which come with phad thai and crab wonton. They also have standard entrees that come with a choice of white or brown rice. I have noticed that sometimes Thai places like to charge extra for rice, so it is nice that it is already inclusive in the selection.
I decided to go for the pumpkin curry with chicken ($10). It sounded like a very intriguing dish on paper. Before the curry was served, I was given a complimentary bowl of hot & sour soup. It was okay. Similar to the Chinese version.
The pumpkin used for the dish is kabocha which makes sense as it is naturally sweet. Adding it into a curry turns out to be an excellent combination. The curry was rich and fragrant. The coconut was in full effect too. I would gladly get this dish again if it was an available offering.
Service was good throughout the meal and it was cool of them to split the bill into separate checks. If you are looking for a Thai restaurant which has good food, ambiance and can make a good cocktail, Chantanee is where you need to go. -

I'm so sad to write this review, because Chantanee has always been my favorite Thai place.
I called today to place my standard to-go order and Chris (the manager) was so rude and disrespectful! When I arrived to pick up the order, I asked him about it and he looked at me like I had 5 heads. I think that when the total cost of my order is significantly higher than normal, I have a right to ask what I am being charged for without being met with a seriously bad attitude. They also got the order wrong.
I love the food, but won't go back now. It's amazing how one terrible experience can ruin a long history of good experiences. There are plenty of other good Thai places in the area who don't treat their customers like crap. :( -
Review from Karen L.
One of the many Thai restaurants in the area, I've been here a few times, and for good reasons. The food is good, the restaurant is clean and well decorated, the service is friendly, and the ambiance feels a bit "fancy."
What I like: glass noodle salad, pad see ew, and sauteed eggplant with tofu. I've tried their pad thai, and it's alright. But so far, my experiences here have been great, and I will (soon) be returning. -

World-class cocktails (I'm all about the Death in the South Pacific) and yummy Thai food (I like the sizzling golden chicken, as I'm a spice wimp)--what more could you want?
Just to repeat, their cocktails are literally world-class and regularly win bartending competitions. And they're in the middle of downtown Bellevue. Can't argue with that. -
Review from Kayan L.
Before the big move to this fancy Bellevue office building, Chantenee was a shack that served yummy, inexpensive, delicious thai food. Now, the food is still pretty delicious; however, while the portions seem smaller, the prices have gone way up. There are plenty of good Thai places in Seattle that are more economical, so it just makes me feel bad to waste money on decent Thai. We're in a down economy people, so while I'm all about paying for ambiance, regular Thai just shouldn't cost this much. Sorry.

I really miss the original location. Service has changed for the worse at their new spot. Emailed the business about our recent visit and got this response from them, "We are sorry for the service you got, please come back again." Couldn't have been more generic. The ambiance feels a little tacky, and more focus should be on the Customers who are paying. Will only do take-out from now on. If you enjoy tacky business folks "talking" deals, this is the place for you. There are a couple if Thai Cuisines I would rather give my money to. Hope this helps.

Review from Tanya J.
Chantanee, the place I expect so much out of but never quite hits the mark for me.
My friends love Chantanee. Perhaps it's because as a vegetarian I'm not ordering the Crispy Garlic Chicken or Chicken Panang Curry which they seem to love so much. I also don't go for spicier dishes which seem to be popular. I order the Vegetarian Rama, Veggie Phad Thai or Veggie Fried Rice. Whatever the case might be, Chantanee is a popular place amongst friends yet I continue leaving here wondering if I ordered the wrong thing once again.
I recently ordered the Vegetarian Rama. On the menu it says, stir fried mixed vegetables with peanut sauce. That's not what I got -- I got spinach (only spinach leaves) with peanut sauce. Thank goodness I threw in the tofu for some protein - could you imagine eating only spinach leaves with some sauce for dinner, and for $12 (this place is expensive by the way)?
Now, the spring rolls were super yummy but they are tiny itty bitty half your pinky finger sized spring rolls so don't expect to make a dent in your appetite with those.
The ambiance is great but parking is weird not being obvious at all so I parked under Tap House and had to pay $17.50 for 2 hours last night. Last time I parked in a nearby lot I thought they owned I got a $35 parking ticket. That's no fault of Chantanee's but it still puts me off with my repeated experiences here.
The service is great, but honestly, Chantanee's is a place I'll go for group events but would never chose it on my own. As a vegetarian I would say there are much better Thai places nearby for sure. BLECH! -

Recently visited here for lunch and dinner and had a great experience both times.
Lunch: Got here a little after 11am and it was a good thing because this place gets packed for lunch.
Beautiful, clean, cozy atmosphere!
Our server greeted us, took our order and we were served immediately with a cup of chicken rice soup. This was made with ground chicken, jasmine rice, and ginger then finished with green onions and a bit of cilantro. It was served very hot and a nice beginning to our meal.
Our food came out very quickly as it is lunch hour on a Friday.
Crispy Garlic Chicken - $15 (heat 4 out of 5);
Chunks of battered fried chicken tossed in a spicy, savory, dark, garlic sauce. Served on top of deep fried basil leaves.
Pro's: Flavor was fantastic! chicken was crispy as well as basil.
Con's: I like my food served hot especially deep fried foods. This seemed like the chicken was done ahead of time and then finished in the sauce. It was good enough that I didn't care much.
Combo 2 -$12 Crispy Chicken with Cashew Nut.(All Combos come with Phad Thai and Crab Wonton)
Lighter batter, smaller chicken pieces, red/green peppers onions in a lighter sweet/sour sauce. This is not sweet/sour chicken though. Served with a small dish of phad thai and 2 crab wontons.
Pro's: Nice looking dish, chicken was pleasant, pad thai although looked like chopped rice noodles in sauce had one of the best phad thai flavors I've tasted.
Con's: Wontons were not made to order therefore were served cold. unpleasant.
Panang Curry- $10 (heat 4 out of 5)
Spicy red curry with coconut milk and sweet basil. (ordered it vegetarian)
Pro's: This was a properly executed curry. Spicy, creamy & flavorful.
Con's : a little hotter (temp) would suit this dish better.
Service was spot on. Never waited on water refills (I drink at least 32oz a meal)
4 Stars
Dinner: (arrived about 8:40PM on Sunday they close at 10) They do not serve the chicken and rice soup at dinner. (see note below)
Crispy Garlic Chicken (again) - $15 (heat 4 out of 5);
Pro's : Consistent flavor
Con's Still not served hot. This was colder than my lunch plate
Massaman Curry $13 beef (heat 4 out of 5);
Beef chunks in a massaman curry with coconut milk, potatoes, carrots and peanut.
Well executed dish once again. Beef was tender, good size pieces. potato was a bit undercooked. Dinner portion was same size as lunch.
Service was great once again!
4 Stars.
A little story:
We first met Lalita on our 2nd visit which was on Saturday night.
We arrived about an hour before the listed closing hours. She greeted us but informed us that they usually close the kitchen an hour prior and that only one chef was there and could not execute some of the dishes. We were going to order the usual so we sat down.
After a little consideration we decided not to stay. You all have had that experience where the food served during the closing hour is not on par usually? We really liked it here and did not want to chance spoiling our first experience.
Lalita was so nice and really made the attempt to make us stay but our minds were made up. She even told us she hoped that we would return.
We did =) Sunday night. We returned which is my dinner review above. My fiancee' really loved that chicken/rice soup and they were accommodating enough to make it from scratch and it was perfect!
Lalita was very friendly and we spoke a bit after dinner.
Overall, if we lived here in Seattle, we would be regulars. Very nice atmosphere, great service, good food. I don't think I've rated anything 5 stars because it takes away the specialness of that rating.
4 stars is a winner in my book. This place was a pleasant find and we will miss it..
Thank you Lalita,

I love their food, which is flavorful and balanced, albeit a tad overpriced. The Naga bar also used to be one of the best in Seattle for creative drinks (think Zig Zag or Liberty), but lost that flair when they got rid of the 4d6.
And tonight they dropped at least two stars when they closed much earlier than scheduled without notice. That sends a strong signal that this restaraunt cares more about going home early than it does its customers.
What a shame.
EDIT: I've since updated my review from two to four stars, based mainly on the fact that the owner contacted me directly to address my review. This shows me that he cares about customer feedback, which I respect in business owners.
I will be going to Chantanee again this week and will revise as appropriate if necessary. -

Wow! I have been looking for an Eastside bar that serves vintage cocktails and finally found it. I was very pleased that the cocktail list consisted of obscure liqueurs, absinthe's, Japanese whiskeys, and other imported spirits. The bartenders were very attentive and helpful. New drinks came in record time. I had the Nordic Reviver, Turf Cocktail, and Bensonhurst. Each one delicately balanced so that all ingredients mix well together and no one overpowering the other. The food I had was also great. The chicken pot stickers & crispy won ton and Chantanee hot wings came out quickly and tasted better than most Thai places I have been to.
If you are looking for a swanky bar with great tunes, exquisite service, strong cocktails, and quality food this is the place. The fact that these house drinks cost only $7, bites $5, and Happy Hour goes from 3 to 6 PM. everyday means I will be coming back more frequently. -

This place wasn't that great. Our server was VERY nice but the food was not good. I ordered a salad (which I thought was a Thai salad) and it was very tasteless. The server understood and brought me Phad Thai with chicken (per my request). It tasted like noodles with ketchup. So needless to say, we weren't too impressed, unfortunately!

First time visiting Chantanee since their move to the new location (was a frequent at their old locale) and pleased that aside from the venue, very little has changed. Excellent service and food. Today had the Tom Kha Gai soup, Heavenly Beef, Fried Rice, Pad See Ew and Swimming Rama. Was with a person who has no tolerence for spice and at 1 star, everything was just right. No complaints at all! Oh and props to the restaurant website for having an actual video of how to get to the restaurant, very smart.

The restaurant is SUPER hidden!!!! We parked where they recommended us to in the garage and I swear we walked all over the building. If it wasn't for my friend I would've walked in circles.
I like the food but I don't know if its worth coming back. The food was decent, probably not the best Thai restaurant I've been to. The food were on the sweeter side..I feel like they super extra sugar in everything. I think if they cut down on the sugar it might be a lot better! -
Review from Liz M.
I spent a lot of time here with my co-workers when we were all working later than normal over the past few months. Mostly we came for the bar, as Chantanee makes some of the best drinks I've experienced anywhere. The No. 5 is beyond fantastic! I'm also addicted to the crab wontons, although their deep-fried goodness is not so good for me. I no longer work on the east side of the pond, but when I occasionally venture back that way, Chantanee will be at the top of my list.

Review from Duane L.
I came here for lunch and was quite wowed by the decor for a Thai restaurant. I guess what do you expect for being in downtown Bellevue and you have to park in a garage. At least parking is free with validation.
The place pretty much screams "look at me! I'm a Bellevue restaurant!" In other words, it's very pretentious looking. But, at least it backs it up with the food quality. The crispy garlic chicken was delicious. I'm talking big chunks of white meat chicken. Whoa, at a Thai restaurant? Yup. Big chunks.
Their prices are a little high. $10-15 for lunch. I guess they gotta make up for the more expensive lease they have now. -
Review from Katy H.
NOTE: I have yet to eat any food hear and while I've heard and read that it's amazing, I came here after dinner specifically to drink at Naga Lounge.
Evan and Michael are among the best bartenders in the NW, making cocktails that rival Murray Stenson's with creativity and flare. I came in to pay Michael a visit and just gave him some vague guidelines. Something light, something fresh... nothing too fruity. I mentioned I like gin and he was off to mix up something magical.
He hands over this beautiful glass and I sip down this perfectly delicate, smooth, tasty treat. Knowing that I had to drive in a bit, I asked for a light pour and he was thoughtful enough to concoct something that would taste great but not impair my ability to drive an hour later. I felt safe in his hands and appreciated how he listened and took some super vague directions and turned them into one of the best cocktails I've had in a while. Michael... does that drink have a name? I want another!
Can't wait to go back, eat some food and drink some more. Of course, I'll find someone else to drive next time! -

Great drink menu; my husband loved knowing the history and origins of the cocktails. Fresh ingredients in the crab wontons, delicious and hot (level 4) Tom Yum soup, and killer noodle dish. Service was average, decor average upscale Thai, but food and bevs were perfection!

Review from Kay C.
I used to love this place. I've lived in DT Bellevue for 7 years now and this was my restuarant of choice for Thai food. I frequented the old location for both lunch and dinner.
Now, I don't know maybe the new location is just not good for them but ever since they moved, the food feels overpriced, the drinks are too expensive, and now the service is terrible.
To give an idea on prices, the cheapest glass of wine you can order is $8, cheapest beer you can order is $6 (a Singha!?), and a "large" soup is $10, and can realistically only fill 3-4 small bowls of soup. Most of the 'normal' dishes avg $12 which is acceptable, but then the 'specials' are way more exp.
I won't elaborate much, but last night we went in a group of 5, late (around 8:30pm), so it was emptying out. Only 3 or so other tables there. We didn't come all at once, the girl only asked a couple of us if we wanted drinks, and then she left abruptly when I couldn't decide (instead of saying, I can come back later). Out of 5 orders of dinner, one was a salad which I was treating as an entree, but came out as an appetizer - was never asked if I wanted it to come out with everything else. One dish was completely forgotten, and one dish, we asked for a fried tofu version, and when it came out it wasn't fried tofu. Instead of apologizing, they took it back, and obviously picked out the steamed tofu, and stuck in some pieces of fried tofu and reheated it. Oh, it also took forever for our entrees to come after the soup. So the one dish that was forgotten, it took even longer.
To top it off, one of the people in our group had the curry and got food poisoning last night.
I give it 2 stars only b/c besides the food poisoning, the food still tastes great, and I used to think it was worth it. -

My craving: Thai Iced Tea. Usually that's enough to fill me up, but each time I've been here I've ordered the Pad See Iew which did not disappoint! The portions are large enough that they should fill you up, or, if you're a wimpy eater like me, you'll have some to take home. You choose your heat level 1-5, I've only done a 1 which gives it a nice little kick and doesn't cause sweating or color changing in the face. My husband was trying to show off the first time we went here together and ordered a 2 or 3 and had those 'side effects' to the heat (no negative to the food, this was definitely just the heat factor!). He's had several different dishes there and none of them have been bad -- just read the descriptions of the food if you're unfamiliar with the cuisine and make sure it's something you might like!
Thai Iced Tea = DECADENTLY DELICIOUS! It is somewhat pricey though (maybe $4 I think, but it seems to be pretty much everywhere in this area). Still, it's worth the splurge to quell the craving.
I've only gone here on weekends around lunch time and we always get seated promptly and the service is quick and attentive. My husband had one of the bar drinks at our most recent visit and it was beautifully presented and a strong drink, well prepared.
The one kind of tricky thing is finding the place. It's across the street from the bus stop (look for the Starbuck's - actually that doesn't help... there are two across from each other there!) on the same street as the Mexican restaurant. In a nutshell, there doesn't seem to be a designated parking for this place, and it's along a walkway attached to one of the buildings. Once you find it, though, it's worth it!
Oh! And the bartender who was there during our latest lunch had his pandora radio station playing which was awesome! It was a nice variety of mellow-rock ("mad world" "creep" etc.). -

3 strikes.
1) They forgot to put my order in.
2) They brought wrong food, so they got my order wrong.
3) After they brought my order, garlic duck, it was terrible. I mean really
bad. I ate 1/4 of it and then left it there.
The only positive and still not worth another star - the hostess was cute. -

Best pad thai in Seattle and best I've had. I've been going to this place for over 6 years and love it so much. Everytime I go I get the crispy garlic chicken and chicken pad thai and heavenly beef. Very very good food. The new location sucks because they had to raise the prices (that's why I'm assuming they raised the prices) but I just get take out now. It's amazing!

We went here for this first time and had such a great experience. We were greeted nicely and seated in a prime location. The decor was very modern (microfiber seats were nice too) and it was just the kind of place we were looking for. The waiter was very polite and helpful and when the food arrived it surpassed our expectations.
The spice levels go up to Level 5 and we both just stuck with a Level 1 but it was spicy. Our meals also came with white sticky race which was great.
Following our dinner, the manager came over to our table and introduced himself and thanked us for coming- what a nice gesture! Then he promptly brought over a delicious dish of homemade ice cream on the house after finding out it was my birthday!
Couldn't have asked for a better night out.
Side note: Both of our meals were $12 each (very affordable) and their menu appears to have a great happy hour but we had missed it so we will have to return for that. Hours advertised for the happy hour were 3-6 and 10-close. -

Chantanee... Apparently has a You tube video site how to get here b/c it's confusing.
The pros:
They serve good thai food. Friendly service, awesome decor, and promp food. They serve wine and beer too. Think of the thai food that has been amped up to serve the residents of bellevue. I guess i didn't realize how much of a rep bellevue had until recently.
what to get??? geeze... any of the fish is good. And the always safe pad thai and pat see ew is always good too. I usually always ask the waiter to guide me that day. (i have only been there one day). Anyways I don't htink you can go wrong with a dish here.
The bad: hmmm cheapest chop sticks I have ever seen at a sit down fancy restaurant... -.- they fail there...
So over all... Solid thai food!!! Would of been 5 stars only if they had ok chop sticks... I don't know why i'm hung up on it. -
Review from Robert K.
Oh this place...Used to be a 5, but then they moved, raised prices, shrunk portions, and just killed my buzz. I waited anxiously for the opening date and checked their site and called their phone so many times. I know its been open for quite some time but only decided to start reviewing today though ive been yelping forever.
The food quality is still good but I can't say it's worth the price. The changes disappointed me so greatly that I even stopped going. Even with the higher prices I may have gone occasionally but the inconvenient location also physically prevented me from stopping by, terrible place for take-out in a logistical sense.
Disclaimer: went twice since opening, not sure when I'll go back unless it's free or wanting to eat at a fancy designed thai place. I will claim I know Thai food decently and the taste has not changed one bit. -

Amazing!!! The outside is deceiving & upon entering the restaurant I was pleasantly surprised. The decor is beautiful & has a great vibe. The food was heavenly - Phad Thai w/ shrimp and yellow curry w/ rice.
The most amazing part was the drinks - not the assembly line type - each one was made with love, fresh ingredients & had cute touches.
Love that all their signature cocktails are $10. Be sure to order your drinks "Brock Sampson" style :) -

Went to Chantanee with two other couples on a Friday night. The atmosphere was a little loud for our usual taste but since we were out with friends on the weekend it wasn't bad. I don't know if it's like that on week days but it wouldn't have been very enjoyable if it was just the two of us.
They have an interesting Tiki theme to their cocktails which didn't make much sense but the drinks were actually really good.
We decided to order family style so we got 6 difeerent plates. We had a variety including seafood, pad thai and meat dishes. They were all really good. It leads me to believe you'll have a hard time going wrong with anything on the menu.
Overall our group had an awesome time and really enjoyed dinner. I'd recommend this place for groups or dinner before a fun night out in Bellevue. -

Jen L, my friend, you are so right.
I read almost everyone's review but knew I'd have to make up my own mind. And my mind is made up. This is my favorite Thai Restaurant in Metro Seattle.
The atmosphere is sexy, I'd say almost too sexy, with low downtempo triphop playing in the background, the waitress slides up and whispers something suggestive to us like "Can I get you something to drink" but it felt more like "I'm going to bring you something that will make your whole being cry out for more"
Their cocktail menu is suggestive as well, and being the classic girl that I am, I chose the No 5, which comes in a martini glass looking like it's full of the trademark perfume of the same name. One taste and I'm rocketed into orbit, seriously, my tastebuds were happier than I can remember them being in soooo long.
They weren't disappointed by the next few minutes either, first the satays, tofu and chicken, both perfectly cooked, tender with lots of flavor and the smooth and sweet peanut sauce and cool cucumber salad fit perfectly. He ordered the Tom Ka soup, gave me a taste and I reeled, the broth was dark and sexy, just like him.
Next came out the Red Curry with Pineapple and the Spicy Eggplant. WINNER! I now have a new favorite dish, with the pineapple and the red curry hugging the tender chicken, I was ready to surrender. We had so much left over due to the large portion sizes that I'm enjoying it again as I write.
Still, I am already thinking of when we can get back, that No 5 is calling my name on the westbound wind...Listed in: These are a few of my favorite…, My 5 Star Favorites

The last 2 times we visted this place... the flavors weren't the same. We ordered the same 4 dishes to share and take home. Yet, not one thing tasted as good.
As for the crispy garlic chicken. If you like theirs, you will LOVE Buddha Ruksa's!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Kathleen L.
Renton, WA
I wish they hadn't moved from their previous location. Maybe the overheard wouldn't have affected their food portions or their flavor.
Ambiance - 10/10
I came here in early February for lunch with my bf and was certainly impressed with the ambiance, trendy decor, upscale furniture and the central location of it. I was a little bit disappointed with the slight "stuffyness" of the place, as their location before had a more down-to-earth, mom and pop feel. My bf was in his suit while I was scrubbing it in motorcycle gear. To say the least, I felt like I was under-dressed...
Service - 8/10
We were seated quickly and informed of the specials for the day and what was on tap at the bar. We got our drinks fairly quickly and our server came back enough times to ask us if we were ready to order. Once our order was placed, the food took some time, which I found odd, since the place was not entirely packed. So we receive our order..
Food - 5/10
I usually go for my favorite and order the Chantanee Beef Phad Thai. I remember its flavor and tart and it always made my mouth water when I ordered it before. But this time, it was so-so. It tasted like every other Phad Thai out there.. No kick, no tang.. Nothing that screams, Chantaneeeeee!! I remember the last location oozing with flavor and I didn't get that here. My bf ordered the Beef Curry. Nothing super outstanding there. We also ordered an appie of tuna sushi.. All I can say.. is that it was boring. BORING. 6 tiny pieces of sushi.. that tasted like it was sitting in the fridge uncovered for forever.
Which segways into my other observation, portion size! They are smaller than what they used to be! Disappointing to say the least since the flavor and size do not match the price.
Price - 2/10
Beers were a good price.. average as expected. Food pricing is ugly and it reflects how they had to compensate for the overhead of their new location. Too pricey for me and certainly not worth it in terms of portion size and taste.
3 stars - but really its 2.5. Unless they can bring back the Chantanee that it used to be, its gonna stay that way.1 Previous Review: Show all »
