Talk about your stoner heaven. They let YOU pile on as much meat and stuff as you can fit into a bowl. it becomes like a game of reverse jenga to see how high you can pile your fixins until it's time to hand your leaning tower of strip steak to the guy behind the counter.

2 minutes later, voila, fresh stir-fryed goodness.

I have to start by saying that the only reason I gave this two stars instead of one is because I didn't get food poisoning and it wasn't the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. Since those are the only two bright spots, however, let's move on.

I am surprised how many people on Yelp give Chang's a good review. My husband and I went because we had a coupon from one of those Entertainment books. Anyway, having been to a Mongolian Grill before (only it was in Jacksonville, FL) and enjoying ourselves, we had high hopes. They came crashing down faster than Comcast thinks their internet is.

If you haven't been to one of Chang's restaurants before, it can be a tad confusing. For instance, I have never been to a Mongolian grill where the meat was dried (Or is it just frozen and shaved thin? I can't even tell. Scary.) which was quite a turnoff. Really, quite unappetizing. Moving on, the veggie selection isn't great but there's not too much to complain about there. Then you get to your liquids. Not a Mongolian chef? Good luck. While they do offer tips on a board above the sauces, (one I didn't even notice until my second buffet visit to try and make something better) they aren't very inspiring and are only based on the level of spice you'd want. Many of these sauces weren't even labeled, so I didn't know what they even were. It's fun to watch the chefs cook your stuff in front of you on a big, circular grill, but not at all worth it.

Oh, and the "egg drop soup" is not egg drop soup at all. It's like chicken-noodle-egg-drop-soup with peas and carrots or something, and it tastes terrible. Neither of us (my husband or myself) will probably ever return. There is MUCH better food to be found in Portland.

I've been going to Chang's since they started out down by the Burnside Bridge. I've followed them to both of their MILWAUKIE LOCATIONS. The food is the best. No Mongolian grill I've ever been to compares to Changs. The variety of spices and liquids to cook it in is the best around. Yes, their plum sauce is excellent, but I'm the only one in my family that will eat it. The service is always good. Nice people.

I love this place. It's sooo good! It's a buffet type. You go through the line with your bowl and get some noodles then pick from a variety of meats and veggies and sauces. Then the cooks will cook it up for you on this huge cast iron thing which is kinda fun to watch. Then you can load on some teriyaki sauce or sesame seeds if you want the one thing that just puts it over the top is there "plum sauce" which should be at ur table. It sounds a lil weird but oh...my...god...AMAZING! I can't even tell you how many bottles of that crap I've stolen (oops) Then you can order some wraps or rice to go with your creation you've made. I think lunch is about $8 and dinner is like $12. It's all you can eat though. One trip is usually fine for me. and if you go be sure to check their hours they are a lil awkward. man I'm hungry now I might have to go there for lunch today haha

i love this place so much.  I have been going here for years.  First of all, the staff is very friendly.  You are able to go and get whatever you want to put  in your dish.  I always put way too much meat on!  It sounds weird, but I love pineapples with my dish!  The hard part is getting the sauces down.  They have a chart for you to go by, but it takes a few times through to get your flavor down perfect. It is a little spendy at dinner, but well worth it.
