Review from Amelia B.
Burgers, beers, and fries. Everything a girl wants after spending 40 hours awake running through the streets of D.C.
To be honest, I was so tired and hungry by that point, anything would have tasted like the best meal on earth, but the bacon chicken sandwich hit the sweet spot. Draft beers are rather limited compared to some other nearby places, but the selection gets the job done.
Great layout, and plenty of space for groups. We had about 30 of us, so they put us upstairs. On a Saturday night, we had plenty of room to stretch out, which is impressive given the area.
A solid pub & grub type of place. -

Strolled in of a recent Sunday afternoon and got a couple of seats at the bar for brunch. The bar had a full-service food menu and the bartender was extremely friendly and attentive. I had the classic pancakes and a mimosa and both were terrific; the pancakes were light and fluffy, but definitely hefty enough to fill you up for the rest of the day, and the mimosa was generously proportioned. My dining companion had a breakfast burrito that included andouille sausage and beautiful golden potatoes on the side.
If you are coming with a larger group of people, I would definitely recommend reservations if you want to get Sunday brunch as it gets crowded and people stick around all day--bottomless mimosas for a great fixed price! I am so glad I finally got the chance to visit this classic Georgetown bar and will definitely be going back. -
Review from Tom M.
It's a Friday night in Georgetown. I'm alone and don't want to drink. I know I have lots of options for dinner but can't get one out of my head. My man-crush on Anthony Bourdain has me wanting to go to Chadwicks and order the cheeseburger he ate there. Bourdain called Chadwicks the "kind of place that serves a solid cheeseburger and is special for, well, not being all that special."
I go downhill to K Street, enter to White Room playing on the speakers and it is immediately obvious why Bourdain included this place on his DC show: it must be where many Bourdian-esque chefs of M Street, those popping Advil like candy to make it through the dinner rush, head to when its beer o'clock.
I sit at the bar and order the cheeseburger. It's a pleasant restaurant cheeseburger. Good grill taste. Not elite but pretty darn good when that is what you are in the mood for. The fries are solid yet not elite.
I doubt I would head back there but I enjoyed Chadwicks for what it was worth: another place successfully enjoyed stop on my personal Anthony Bourdain tour. -

**Taste of Georgetown 2011**
This is one of those places that I always park near, scan the menu, peep inside and walk on by.
Silly me.
I'm so glad I tried the peach-stuffed pumpkin dessert during this year's Taste of Georgetown event. It was VERY good and filling (not that that stopped me from eating, but...you know!). Not too sweet, even with the dollop of whipped cream. This treat is good for someone (read: ME) whose not a big fan of peaches. The pumpkin offset the usual "yuck!" that I get when I taste anything peach-like.
The more warm pumpkin I scraped from the side of the mini pumpkin, the more I wanted.Listed in: IN: Georgetown

I don't know why I end up here so many times. If you asked me to imagine a restaurant in Georgetown that I would return to again and again, I probably would not have picked the pub underneath whitehurst freeway.
But the food is consistent, and a nice perk, discounted movie tickets! They offer AMC movie vouchers for $7.50 each, no expiration date. -

This has got to be the worst food and drinks we have ever had. It seriously is like an Old Country Buffet. Greasy, not well prepared, heavy in lard and fat and just generally bland. All three of us has the same experience. Not one menu item out of three tasted good. The Bloody Mary was just tomatoes juice with a little vodka, no other spices...that's it. I can't warn you enough about eating here.....there is so much better in the town!

Review from Jim D.
I must confess, the champagne brunch hoopla is what reeled me into Chadwick's on a rainy Saturday morning. I won't deny it. Who am I to turn down a bottomless champagne brunch for a mere $22? Yes, I'm an easy target when it comes to morning libations and brunch - very easy.
Fortunately, the decent champagne was flowing freely because it made up for my rather standard Chesapeake eggs Benedict. It certainly wasn't great but it wasn't bad either. Meh. My partner's sunny side up eggs were equally standard but that's not so unusual given what he ordered.
The service was efficient and the prices were fair. However, there are better breakfast destinations in this area with better food. Chadwick's might be a decent place to grab a drink or two but I'd recommend other places for your morning eats. -

This has become our new Brunch spot on Sundays. My friends and I love finding new brunch spots that offer great deals with great food.
We tried this out one day on a whim and have been going back and will keep going back.
Champagne brunch - GREAT PRICE and the service is outstanding . Our glasses never go empty :) -

Great service at the bar. We came in after rowing on the Potomac and they were serving up great deals for the fourth of July. We sat at the bar and the bartender made excellent conversation. Great burgers and fries!

My friends and I stopped in here while in Georgetown. We were walking down the street and it started raining, so we decided to duck inside.
Overall, we were presently surprised. They have an inexpensive happy hour and the food we ordered was good. I ordered the clam chowder and ribs, and my other friends ordered ribs as well. Good sized portions and friendly service. I don't remember the name of our waitress, but she was very helpful in pointing us toward other D.C. sights. -

Went here on business travel and had a fantastic time. I would describe this place as a borderline divey, Cheers-type bar. The happy hour specials can't be beat. $2 domestics, $2.50 margaritas and a myriad of other drinks.
The bartender actually looked at the name on my credit card and used it when talking to me -- something I find incredibly endearing. He was super-attentive and on top of his game. I appreciate when a bartender makes a beer suggestion and I actually like the beer. Shocktop Raspberry Wheat, you are my new BFF.
Overall a great night! Go here. :)Listed in: Washington DC

How can a place serving unlimited mimosas get anything less than 4 stars? Chadwicks champagne brunch with girlfriends was my absolute favorite thing in DC when I first moved to the area.
Now that I'm a mom of two, it's probably not acceptable for me to be in bed, hungover and useless by 4pm on a Sunday.
But for all you other folks who don't have to be responsible for the lives of minors in your care, grab a $20 dollar bill and a few friends and head to Chadwicks on a Sunday for friendly service, a decent breakfast entree and glass upon glass upon glass of champagne. -

I got a coupon off http://restaurant.com where I spent $3 for a $25 coupon. What a great deal!! I got the deal 2 days ago, so you still might be able to cash in.
Onto the review.
The good:
The service was beyond what I expected. The waitress asked how we wanted the calamari cooked (you mean we get to choose?!) In general she was a great server. The food was good for what it was. The fried chicken was juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The spinach salad had a wonderful blend of flavors, was not overly dressed, and was fresh.
The bad:
When you walk in, you may feel transported to a mix between the corporate sports eatery and some hole in the wall bar lost in time. The benches are worn and wooden along with the seats. The tablecloths are plastic. And the place looked very corporate sports bar-ish - like a TGIFs or Chili's with all the sports TVs everywhere. I like a dive with great food and atmosphere as much as anyone, but it was just too familiar.
After our awesome coupon deal, we still owed $35. This is for a calamari appetizer, fried chicken entree, spinach salad, and 2 beers. If it wasn't for the coupon, we would have paid $60 for that. I know it's Georgetown and I know those are dinners, but the quality of food is average and the atmosphere is lacking.
Tough review to give cause I want to like it, but in the end too much to pay for just good service and average food. -

2.5 stars, but I'm going with 2 because of several phony reviews that have been written recently - check out (and flag) the 5-star reviews that seem to be written by bartender Nicole and/or her friends (or maybe people she "bribed" with free drinks?!) I was rushed when I searched Yelp for good Sunday brunch places in DC and didn't have time to read the reviews carefully, so I fell for the inflated rating for Chadwick's.
The brunch is OK, but not worth a special trip. It probably is if you're a Georgetown undergrad and/or want to cash in on the bottomless champagne that you can get at brunch for $22 (entree w/ unlimited champagne, OJ separate.) We weren't drinking so things didn't look quite as rosy through our sober glasses!
I got the Eggs Chesapeake, which was basically eggs Benedict but with crab instead of ham. The waitress said they were known for their crab cakes, but I thought they were actually kind of nasty to be honest. Really small, thin and over fried - nothing to brag about. The service was fine and the place started filling up with college kids around noon. -

By far my favorite bar in Georgetown (disclaimer: I don't like Georgetown). Drinks are reasonable, food is pretty good, and staff is friendly.
Most importantly (especially for Georgetown), even on a Friday or Saturday night, you can usually find a seat. It being a little off the beaten path and near where I usually park near the water is a plus too. -

Arrived Friday night around 7:30pm for dinner. Sadly, we'd just missed the happy hour. Our less than satisfying experience was the result of a combination between average service and mediocre food. After being seated, it took 10 minutes until we were approached for our drink order. Then another 10 minutes passed until we received glasses of water.
For the food, the clam chowder and seared ahi tuna entree were tasty, but the rest of the group who ordered fish & chips were left disappointed. One suggestion - sub out the chips (french fries) for a side of mac & cheese. Overall, for what we paid, even while we expected the price tag that accompanies the Georgetown location, we felt underwhelmed and will probably not return. -

Chadwicks champagne brunch may just be my new favorite thing in DC.
For $20, you get a brunch plate plus bottomless champagne until 3pm (or so). The food may not be gourmet, but it's very tasty. I couldn't tell you how many glasses of champagne I drank because they never let my glass sit empty. One of the servers regularly came around to top off everyone in the restaurant.
All of the servers were really helpful and friendly. They didn't mind that we stayed for an extra half-hour drinking champagne after we finished eating. Granted, there were a few empty tables available, but I never felt like anyone was trying to rush us out the door.
I'll be back. This is a great place to take out-of-town guests. -

We lived in Maryland for about 20 years and used to go to Chadwicks for Sunday brunch about once every two months. We'd also drop in for a drink or a snack if we were in the area. It was one of the things we missed most about the DC area - there were LOTS of others, of course - when we moved south almost 15 years ago.
We got a chance to return last Sunday, and it was just like going home - same gracious staff and friendly atmosphere and great food as always. We went with a small group and I didn't hear anyone complaining about anything except maybe having eaten too much, although my daughter was bummed that they had removed sliced bananas with brown sugar from the brunch menu. (I'd have given a five-star rating but my Eggs Benedict, while not bad, weren't really all that special.)
This is a good hanging-out place at the edge of Georgetown, and we'll keep going back every chance we get.
Parking has always been something of an issue in Chadwicks' neighborhood, and it hasn't gotten better over the years. The lot across the street from the restaurant has been turned into a park - not a bad thing to be sure - but on-street parking on K Street down the street from the restaurant has gotten significantly better as the area has been redeveloped - it used to be a bit scary down under the freeway back in the day. -

Another Anthony Bourdain's place. Although the original burger was good, I still expected better since this place is popular. Great happy hour prices!
The place has an older woody like feel. Lots of room and space. 4/5 -

My wife and I walked over from Rosslyn for a late meal at around 10:30 on a stifflingly hot Saturday night. We knew not many restaurants would be open and we chose Chadwicks ahead of time, based on their participation in the American Airlines AAdvantage dining program, which was a small enticement since we were able to get a few more miles per dollar than the usual 1:1 for using a credit card. Other airlines have similar dining programs and they're all run by the same middle-man, so you may want to look into that if you're a mileage fanatic like I am. Anthony Bourdain's visit here in the DC episode of No Reservations was also part of the draw.
When we entered there most of the stools at the bar were taken, but the bar definitely wasn't packed. The person who seated and waited on us seemed stunned when we came in like he wasn't expecting any other diners for the rest of the night. The whole time we were there only one party of 4 came in to eat in the dining room, where we sat. What was immediately noticeable was the presence of a few men who were rather intoxicated and loud. I get it, it's sort of late and we're at a bar, but these people were disproportionately loud compared with the other drinkers. 'F-this...she was hot..you stupid SOB....blah blah blah." They were an annoyance almost the whole time we were there. I think they probably should've been cut-off before our arrival.
The service was fine, but the server's pleasantries seemed forced, like he would've rather been doing something else. I ordered a Shock Top, their beer of the month, for $3.50 out of the bottle. I like that they serve a solid beer for such a reasonable price. We ordered the Caesar Salad, nachos (without chili for the veg wife), clam chowder, and I got a seared ahi dish with peanut sauce and wild rice, something that I might normally have the sense not to order at a pub-like place.
As far as I know, the only bathroom is upstairs. I'm not sure how someone with a mobility impairment would get up there, but maybe they have a contingency plan. The crowd at the upstairs bar was more subdued and less douchey, having passed by a couple times to use the facilities.
The starters came out pretty quickThe salad was super-disappointing. I make better Caesars at home a couple nights a week. It was drenched in dressing and the lettuce had seen better days. The chowder had the faint taste of cleaning products and/or a urinal biscuit, but I doused it with Tabasco sauce and finished the whole bowl. I'm not one to waste food, much less send it back. The fish was surprisingly good. Nice pink center, decent sesame crunch, and good flavor. I'm not a big fan of wild rice, but it worked in this case and the peanut sauce was good and used sparingly. I have a strange feeling that if I witnessed the storage and preparation of my fish I wouldn't have approved--I can't articulate why though. The rather large nacho platter, which came as an entree per our specs, was fine. Nothing more or less than you'd expect to get at a decent pub. I probably wouldn't go there for dinner again, but perhaps to grab a couple beers and some pub grub. -

Brunch is a very important aspect of my life. So, it was crucial that my first brunch experience in DC was good. Chadwick's didn't disappoint.
Spinach artichoke dip
Eggs benedict
Huevos rancheros
Eggs chesapeake (eggs benedict...but with crab meat!)
+ Cute waiter

Awesome start to a weekend day! The view is great if you're on the second floor, the service is friendly, and the food comes out fast. We didn't indulge ourselves in the all you can drink champagne as we didn't want to spend the rest of the day belching but I can only assume it would make the meal that much better. Obviously not a fancy brunch place, but a great go-to restaurant when you want to sit back and enjoy some goooooooood times. -

Nothing too exciting. Joined friends for lunch because one of them had a groupon coupon. Cramped booths. The clam chowder soup tasted sour, portions were large though, I'll give them that.

This is more like a 3.5... But I am a bit stingy with my 4.0s. Basically, this place isn't bad, but it isn't somewhere I would be dieing to come back to every time I am in Georgetown. Came for the Tuesday Happy Hour as found in random places online, it was great!!! Yup, 2$ beers, 2.50$ wines, .50 cent wings. We added some nachos on, they were ENORMOUS!!! The service was OK, the waiter was a little confusing at times and not very clear about the special (even though i knew it was there). In all, we were satisfied. I could maybe see myself here again for another happy hour, but not likely for normal day. Overall not a bad choice.

What's better than brunch (which we already all know is my favorite meal of the day) with your sig-o and a great friend? One that involves a breakfast burrito... and more importantly, unlimited champagne!
I rang up Chadwick's on Sunday morning to inquire about reservations, but because we planned to arrive right when they opened at 1100, they told us to just show up. It was clear once we arrived that we definitely didn't need to bother. It was deserted when we got there, and by the time we left (somewhere around 1330) it was a madhouse. Lesson learned: arrive early, drink slowly and drink often.
For a quite reasonable sum of ~$19, you are provided bottomless champagne (and it's really not bad!) and your choice of an entree. We also split a half carafe of orange juice between the three of us to mix mimosas, and their half carafes are -giant-. We didn't even finish off the one.
While I have to say that my breakfast burrito wasn't all that, it -was- absolutely ginormous. Like, Chipotle-size. And that's not even touching on the potato-worth of home fries that come on the side. Tasty crispy skins with mushy starchy goodness on the inside. Mmm mmmMMMmm. I about had to loosen the button on my shorts to finish it all. But you know me, I'm one of the founding members of the Clean Plate Club - it was a marathon, but I finished it all.
Be sure to grab a seat where you can look out the little porthole-sized windows on the upstairs floor. You can watch paddlers and kayakers out on the Potomac on a nice day. Nothing like a meal and a show! -

The old guy is rude. The old bartender guy yelled at my friend cause his order was complicated. Told him to "just order something off the menu". The food was great though, but that type of anger and obvious disdain for ones job makes the visit less enjoyable. We ordered about 40 dollars worth of food that day and will probably never go back now.

Ever craved potato skins at brunch? Perhaps with a glass or six of champagne?
I am pleased to announce that this is possible in Georgetown. Simply order the Eggs Idaho and for $16.95 you'll get three eggs scrambled w/ cheddar cheese, chopped bacon and scallions in potato skin shells and unlimited champagne.
What more could you want on Sunday morning? -
Review from David K.
Chadwicks is a great place to utilize on 3 day weekends. It has become traditional to go there for their champagne brunch during said weekends. As a result, it has also become traditional to pass out around 4 PM on said weekends. For 17 dollars, Chadwicks offers all you can drink champagne and a brunch entree. The champagne brunch runs from 11 AM to 4 PM. THAT IS 5 SOLID HOURS OF CONSUMPTION! If you're not a mess by the end of this, you may not be human.
As far as the food, its passable. The breakfast entrees are a bit bland. I sampled the huevos rancheros which were not at all huevos rancheros. It was egg with a little bit of pico de gallo and a ton of cheese. It ended up just being a large melted cheese platter. This goes for the breakfast burrito as well. If I wasn't drinking endless champagne at the same time, I would be a bit more disappointed. Luckily, I think value wise, you are getting a great deal even with the subpar food.
Chadwicks is also a great place to watch morning after couples getting a quick awkward meal. We've also noticed a fair number of cougars clearly on the prowl so be on the lookout. -

Maybe it's because it's half a block and around the bend from the movie theater, or maybe because I don't make it to G-town that often, but I was surprised that I never wandered into this place before.
The bartender was very nice and professional. Patrons (of what few there were) were very friendly. They'll cook your burger medium, and they've got the Baltimore O's game on tv, along with a signed picture of Cal behind the bar. (and as further proof I belonged here, I was wearing my O's hat that night!)
Great spot, good vibes, I'll definitely be back. -

After getting kicked out of the Georgetown 14 due to a fire alarm... (this is the second time this has happened to me in the middle of a movie) my friend and I decided to get some drinks instead.
Chadwick's has always been my go-to after-movie place in Georgetown. It's usually pretty empty and if you're lucky you're greeted with such fabulous ditties as the thong song.
Prices on food are a little high, and I'd avoid the "veggie wrap" which should be called the big ol' ball of cheese with a few hidden vegetable wrap. But the bartenders are really nice and attentive and will even shake your hand and thank you if you give them a decent tip. I guess that comes from working in a town of college students who'd rather spend their money on $500 shirts from Intermix instead. -

This place is solid. Great food, great service. Their happy hour is the best happy hour in DC. Their blue cheese dip with their yummy wings is fantastic. Confession: if there's still some left after the meal I will eat the rest with a fork (cause it's that chunky. Mmmmm.) Perfect place for a date before a movie at the AMC theatre next door if you're looking for something refreshingly unpretentious yet still elegant.

Review from David R.
Oh boy...Chadwicks. I have spent two extremely hazy late Sunday mornings/afternoons in D.C. thanks to their all-you-can-drink champagne brunch. The food is actually really good, and if you drink your fill the price is fantastic. The service is very friendly too. These ladies and gents must really enjoy seeing lushes like us make fools of ourselves every Sunday morning. Somehow, this place was not full on either visit. In Chicago there would be a 90-minute wait for this joint.
The first time here, a buddy and I were visiting our newly transplanted D.C. friend, and we came here with a few of his work acquaintances. They watched in bemusement as the three of us consumed refill after refill for about two hours. I won't go into the rest of the hijinks from that day.
The second time, we came with a very similar crowd of my friend's work buddies, and this time we decided to keep count of how many champagne refills we each got--15, 16, and 18, which we felt was a little less than the last time.
I promise, we're not usually such boozy dopes, but those two brunches were a hell of a lot of fun. NFL football, good company, unlimited cheap champagne, great breakfast food, not fighting a crowd...what more can you ask for? -

Came here on a Saturday for the brunch. But I was in the mood for a burger. Nicole, the bartender, recommended the Angus sliders. They were juicy and flavor-filled. The sweet potato fries seemed hand-cut and were delicious. Nicole pours a nice Absolut Bloody Mary. Most patrons @ the bar with me were taking advantage of the $22 Brunch Entree & Bottomless Mimosas. Maybe next time! Also, a great view of the Potomac!

4.5 stars for:
-Amazing Happy Hour specials ($2 yuengling and house wine, $2.50 margaritas)
- Great specials every night.
- Laid back atmosphere. Never too loud or obnoxious.
- Fun Bartenders...I love the old man named Bill.
- Food is great, but I wish there brunch was a buffet.
*I've come here by myself to grab a nice porter or stout and I've came many times with friends. I've never been here past 9pm though, so things might change with the late night crowd. -

Well,
I'm just going to stand up and be the apparent lone dissenter amidst the chorus of support for Chadwicks. I really didn't find this place to be all that special. However, I will say that I wasn't there for happy hour or for brunch, which seem to both be big hits here. And, sure, I don't a long history of tradition with the location, so maybe that carries some weight as well...
Basically, I got the impression I was eating in a tourist trap offering mediocre bar food at inflated prices. If you're going to pay that much for a burger, go to Matchbox where it's actually worth the investment. Now, you may argue that, despite their prices, this is one of the more affordable Georgetown venues, but for me the ticket price was not representative of the food quality.
So, I'm sorry loyal fans, I remain unapologetically unimpressed until further notice! -

I just love this place. Looking to have a casual drink with friends and maybe some dinner but can't be bothered with reservations? Chadwicks is the perfect place for a low-key evening in G-town. The staff is super friendly and I always walk away with a smile on my face. This is one of the few places in G-town that feels like a neighborhood bar. It is a great place to grab a drink before a movie, watch the game, or to hang with friends. The noise level is manageable and the clientele tends to be pretty low key. The dining room upstairs tends to be less populated, which makes it a great place to get raucous with friends or bring kids. Food is a far cry from a 10, but they do standard bar fare well. Thumbs up for the fish and chips.
Sadly, I cannot recommend the bottomless champagne brunch (its not bottomless if you have to constantly remind the server to fill your glass). Service was slow, if non-existent, and the food was cold. Save your money for the bar. -

This was pretty good. I've been to the Friendship Heights location a few times but never to the Georgetown one. It's rather spacious with two floors and a bar on each one. Service is fine, nothing spectacular or poor. I had the fish 'n' chips which tasted pretty good, but I have had better. Nothing really stood out otherwise, but it's a pretty good option for dining after seeing a movie at the silver screens a block down.

I can't say much that everyone else here has already said. Friend had a house wine that wasn't very good, but upon request the bartender worked his magic and turned it into something amazing. Nothing short of a miracle. The man is there M-Tu-Fri-Sat, so if you're in the area, head in for happy hour, a great bartender, and an awesome vibe.

Chadwicks is a good place to go if you want to have drinks or dinner before seeing a movie. It's regular old bar food like nachos, burgers, soups, etc., and it's convenient as far as parking goes. (There is a pay lot across from Chadwicks and tons of street parking depending when you come.)
A few times when I've been here, the service has been bad, but mostly it's a very pleasurable experience. The bulk of their menu is pretty solid but I would say do not get the egg rolls. They are not good. Stick to the basic "American" items on their menu and you'll be fine.
