One of the Business' Favorite Reviews What's This?
Consistent in service and food, it's as good as it gets.
Came here with Kim M. and received spicy mussels, I still think it's an appetizer you have to learn to like. I ordered the Golden Gate which consists of fried soft shell crab, tobiko, salmon, avocado and drizzled in house sauce and Kim had the tuna roll.
The rolls were absolutely fresh, the quality of the fish here is superb.
Hats off to the wonderful owner, once again.
I always take into account whether Kim M. likes a sushi place or not, due to her allegies to nuts, seeds, or soy. The waitress was very clear as to what was inside the rolls. +1

Came here during Spring break with a couple of old friends to reminisce and catch up.

Went here for a last minute birthday dinner, and it was probably one of the best things we've done on such short notice.
I don't remember what we ordered, but it was good. I think I got the gyu-donburi, and Elaine got a couple rolls. Whatever it was that we really ordered, it was good. We also got the complimentary spicy mussels, but declined them since I can't eat them, and Elaine isn't fond of mollusks.
We also took part of the sake bomb presentation, and it was fun. Elaine had only one sake bomb and was pretty happy. She ended up calling our waitress, April, Egg Roll. Good times.
We'll be back.
My wife and I are constantly searching for local restaurants to support. We both love sushi and read the raving reviews of Cha Cha Sushi on Yelp.
The restaurant is located in a large mall with plenty of parking. The staff was friendly, but I had to constantly ask them to refill my water as they spoke on their cellphones. Also, after ordering...the server literally dropped off mussels on our table and walked away. We weren't quite sure if the mussels were on the house or a mistaken order. The server never bothered to come around again after taking our order.
The sushi was decent. The sashimi was fresh and melted in your mouth.
I would pass on the "free" mussels though, they smelled a little old and tasted TOO briny. I worked in a restaurant for years. I remembered when there were "specials"or "free" seafood, it meant the shelf-life was nearly expired.
The prices were a bit pricy, but not as bad as blowfish.
We might come back here again.
I just had to rewrite for this place, cause I really do love it here. The service is so NICE.
I usually always come in with my boyfriend, and he went without me once. And the waitress asked where I was...they remembered us!
AWww...how sweet of them

Where is this place?
This place isn't half bad if you can find it. What can I say, we don't all have TomTom or the Jeezus phone to help us get to where we want to go. But we did eventually find this hidden SJ gem.
and
and
and
why can't I remember what I ordered? What did we order? I can't seem to remember the crunch rolls or the baked scallops but I know I ordered uni and who knows what else. Everything else was ok however the uni was pretty good in my honest opinion. It just tasted fresh... lacking that all too familiar pungent ocean saltiness. It was clean and cold and refreshing and Maybe I need to better acquaint my palette with such a delicate urchin.
;D
Rating: 3.5 stars
Service: Nothing extraordinary , we were welcomed with a free amuse bouche, spicy mussels. At first we thought the waitress made a mistake and we were like "did we order this" "should we just eat it?" She just dropped them off and left, so you can see where the confusion kicks in. I am not a big fan of mussels, but the jalapeno salsa concoction was delicious.
Menu: A good variety of rolls and bento boxes to choose from. A little bit overwhelming, many of the rolls are vary similar with one different ingredient with a fancy new name.
Taste: We started off with a half order of the poki salad. It was just ok, could use alot more greens in my opinion to balance it out the loads of tuna. We ordered two rolls, sadly I forgot the names and they do not have a website with a listed menu to refresh my memory. The rolls were tasty, we did not leave anything on the plate.
Overrall: I've been to other Sushi places where you can get more for your buck and presentation and portion exceed. I might be back again...
I was pleasantly surprised by my late night visit to Cha Cha Sushi yesterday despite a few bad reviews on the front page (or I should say not so good reviews...) because of the most accommodating and awesome wait staff I've met a sushi place like this yet!
Cha Cha Sushi is your typical sushi place with an emphasis on rolls more than anything else as their sashimi is quite a bit more pricey than most other places or any type of sashimi combos you can find. I liken them to the same type of food served at Sushi O Sushi, Cherry Sushi, Sushi Zen, etc. Their two $$ price is about right if you order around 4 rolls you will spend about $50+ for two people.
Their rolls are inventive, creative, and most of all have a ton of raw fish in them. This place does not cheap out on the raw fish in their rolls and don't pack on the rice like other places. Their rolls are well made and most of their unique flavors compliment each other. Their rolls are also not overly saucy / drenched and most of the rolls aren't fried although there are a few baked / fried ones for those of you who like those kinds of rolls. They have great tasting fish so I'm sure their sashimi is fresh and good (although I did not have any).
They give you FREE spicy mussel appetizers and free ice cream dessert which was nice. Although I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't just forgo the mussels and ice cream to give you miso soup and salad which I imagine would be far cheaper ... because I love a good miso soup at a sushi restaurant. Anyway, all around good place, ambiance is nice and not too upscale but not too casual either. I am definitely coming back.
The sushi is good, but the service is better.
Tropic Thunder: It was alright! There was some taste in it I didn't exactly like, but I think that might just be personally.
Brandon's Roll: This was sooo yummy. I loved it! It's covered with cubed tuna and salmon. Cubed! So yummy! It reminded me of bo luc lac (cubed beef) in Vietnamese food. I've never tried sushi with cubed beef, so this was a huuge plus! It tasted extremely fresh.
Ocean Side: This roll was... yechhhh... when they brought it out, my friend and I stared at it, daring the other to try it. I think we might have caught them on an off day- the rice was soggy and drippy.
Because we were hesitant to eat it, the waitress came out and asked us if there was anything wrong. We told her that it seemed a little soggy, and she was extremely understanding! She explained to us that they'd just bought new rice and the scallops were different. We didn't get charged for Ocean Side, and she took it away for us!
+5 stars for good service and cubed salmon and tuna.
Oh, and they're open all day. They don't close in the middle of the day. Kudos to that!
My friend, who's not a sushi eater/lover, actually liked this place enough to COME BACK! Not sure if it was because I held a gun to his head =D Anyway, their Nabeyaki Udon was one of the best there is!!! As for sushi...most sushi tastes the same as long as it's prepared correctly and the seafood's fresh. Oh, and my friend enjoys their "house sauce".
Oh...and their overly LENGTHY, EXTENDED "thank yoouuuuuuu" is just too cute (at least for the first few times..anything more than that is just plain annoying).
I am a huge sushi fan and I thought that I had tasted all the good sushi places within my area. I always drove by Cha Cha Sushi and I just thought that it was a little place that sells not so great sushi. That was my thought...until I stepped in with my girlfriend. We bought the Spicy Rainbow Roll and it was the best sushi I had ever eaten. It is always packed with people day and night. I wish it was larger but how crowded it was showed how much the locals loved it. I am a fan. Hands down.
Pros - Great food and great friendly service. They give you free mussels when you are seated. Another sushi place that I enjoy is Sato Sushi and they give you miso soup. So it is equivalent . The icecreams here are AMAZING. My girlfriend and I buy the icecream here pretty often and the first few times we asked them " what is this ? " when they brought it out. The worker simply answered " it's different every time. " She smiled and walked away. Always fun to eat icecream there.
Cons - The sodas are not refillable because the sodas are cans. There is not really enough tables but nothing bad. It's kind of nice waiting for a table. Seeing a crowd of hungry sushi lovers is beautiful haha.
Sometimes they give you and your party free icecream. So brace your self if you are feeling lucky :D
I LOVE THAT THEY OPEN ALL DAY! woo-hoo
I've been here several times and each time I've left a happy camper. The restaurant is pretty small, and it does get busy during dinner hours. They sometimes have a wait, but it's not too bad.
Everytime I come here I order the same things;tropic thunder, ocean side, and seaweed salad. I love that they give complimentary mussels during dinner time. I usually order that anyways, but since they give it complimentary I don't need to. Yum. The mussels are absolutely delish, the 'salsa' they put on top has a nice spicy kick to it. The only gripe I have about this place is that the rolls tend to fall apart easily, so you have to pick it up just the right way with your chopsticks!
Another reason why I like coming to Cha Cha Sushi is because they have the "Spicy Chicken Roll".The boyfriend can't eat seafood and sometimes Chicken Teriyaki just isn't enough for him. Not many places offer rolls without seafood in it, so we were really happy when we found out that Cha Cha sushi has it on their menu!
Wow after seeing all the great reviews I have to admit I was a little surprised when we got there about how unimpressed I was, maybe I went on an off day?
While I appreciate the free mussels and the quick service, in terms of the food itself I thought it was just average. The rolls seemed like a lot of different variations of each other and after eating it, it definitely all tasted very similar.
After reading all the reviews and seeing all the other complimentary stuff other diners got, I'm wondering how they choose who they give what to...interesting...
Spicy mussels as an appetizer and green tea ice cream as a finisher. For free. Can't beat free. Pretty tasty to boot.
The rolls here are decently small and the tab can add up if you're trying to get full. The fish isn't bad, not necessarily super fresh, but it's about par with other similarly priced places. They give a wide variety of tempura pieces (yams, broccoli, onion, carrot, shrimp, etc). The wasabi is worth mentioning. It actually has some kick and tastes great. I still end up using the whole ball and adding a little soy sauce just because I like to cry when I eat sashimi. Overall, one of the better places if you want a fast sushi/fish/"Japanese"food fix
So glad we came here. We were at Bevmo and on our way home and were starving for some lunch. Since we had to run a few more errands at Lucky's, we decided to give this place a try.
The service was really great, the server was attentive and the food came in a timely manner. They gave us complimentary mussels to start. The mussels were very fresh with a mango salsa and a bit of spice.
We also ordered the sake roll, dragon roll, spicy tuna and seaweed salad. The seaweed salad was delicious and...they did not skimp!
Everything was very fresh and tasty.
If I were stuck eating only one thing for the rest of my life, it might as well be sushi... in other words.. I am a sushi-lover !
Cha Cha Sushi is a very cute sushi restaurant that has QUALITY ingredients, they're not shady on their servings. Their prices are average for sushi about $ 10 average for most items...but you get what you pay for and more. This place is definitely a recommendation to everyone who is contemplating on trying it. If you're a fan for sushi, this place will not disappoint you!
Goodness, this place is delicious!
This is almost better than sendai!
Actually, I'm debating between the two.
The experience was good. Once you walked in you're greeted warmly.
While seated, they give you a complimentary mussel with some spicy sauce on it. I was actually shocked and thought i had to pay. I've never seen that at a sushi restaurant.
We ordered a Little Jenny, Unagi Roll, & a 49er Roll. The Little Jenny is a must! It's spicy and crunchy and perfect.
Service was great, food was great, the only thing i did not like there was the miso soup.
No flavor, no salt, just bland.. if they fix that, the place is perfect!
i was very disappointed . The sushi here isn't great as I expected and won't come here again . The good things are free mussels and desert. I would rate about 2 stars
They gave us mussels for free (while we wait) and they were pretty good.
Fresh fish (cut right in front of us). Hot edamame.
Sake sashimi was delicious and cheap!
Good rolls - the titanic and golden gate were delicious!
Good service.
Green tea ice cream - our favorite! The ice cream was placed on top of tempera bits, all in a cup.
I'm not sure how to rate this place. The rolls were good and very creative, the service was good and sitting at the bar was both roomy but intimate, a mix that few places get right. But the freshness of the stuff was just not good.
I had a roll with avocado and it was so mushy it was like they put guacamole on the top of it. The maguro was not good either, with the fish tasting stale and simply unappetizing. However, the bento box the wifey had was really good and the chicken was nice and lean, with the tempura perfectly cooked.
I'm not sure if I hit them on an off night, but it will be hard pressed for me to head back. There are places to get decent sushi nearby so driving out have so-so sushi is just more than I'm ready to do.
I felt that I needed to add a chaser review to my original review. While I've visited Cha Cha a number of times since last year, this evening's meal was amazing! I ordered a 2 item selection dinner, which came complete with green salad, miso soup, noodle salad, salmon sashimi, and California rolls. Our servers brought the food promptly and quickly swept away empty dishes. My sashimi and California rolls were beyond perfection in terms of moisture and freshness, and the chef even sent over a complimentary duo of oyesters on the half shell. The oyesters were bathed in a siracha-like red sauce and a cream sauce, and topped with red and green peppers. They were fiery as they went down, but ridiculously good. I can't wait to go back!

PROS:
Fresh Fish, Complementary Mussels with tasty sauce, Friendly staff, Exotic Rolls, Good Portion....and then they end your visit with complementary desert which is yumm.. They are constantly checking up on you to see if you need anything else.
CONS:
NOTHING!
SECRET TIP: On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there is a HONDA meet in the very same parking lot where all the racers come by and show off their awesome rides..Starts@8..Don't be late!
FINAL ANSWER: GO NOW!!!!!!
Just makes me want to sing, "Cha Cha Sushi now ya'll! Turn it out to the left. Take it back now ya'll! One hop this time. .. One hop this time. .." Hehe, such a fun name for a sushi joint.
So, I finally gave in and decided to check out what all the rave about this place was. Complimentary this, complimentary that, who could resist!? Oh boy, not me, never! Best believe, I was definitely not disappointed with my visit.
First impression: This place is really small--15 tables, or so, all awkwardly positioned in the small space and a small sushi bar.
My date and I were treated to a complimentary appetizer--Spicy Mussels (two raw mussels on their shells, drowned in chopped red/yellow bell peppers and chili). The first bite was deeelicious but for some reason the last bite left my tongue burning. We also ordered some seaweed salad and the sashimi assorted appetizer. The seaweed salad was fresh and the portion was perfect--can't really complain, it was good. The sashimi assorted appetizer came with 8 thick slices of fresh fish. Yummy!
We ordered 4 rolls but they only brought out 3 (a good thing though because we were stuffed):
Tropic Thunder: Spicy crab and cucumber roll with crunchy soft shell crab on the outside. The soft spicy crab inside and the crunchy soft shell crab on the outside complimented each other very well. The combination was delicious.
Brandon's: A tuna roll, loaded (literally) with a mixture of different sashimi, Cha Cha's house sauce, tobiko, and rice crackers. This roll is huge and the combination of fish and rice crackers was "melt-in-your-mouth" amazing.
Orange Blossom: Tuna and avocado roll with salmon on the outside. Meh, nothing special.
We weren't treated to the infamous complimentary green tea ice cream though, we were treated to complimentary flavored sake (Fuji apple) instead. Probably because we were already drinking sake and Asahi.
Overall, well worth the try. Will be coming back very soon.
Thank you Yelp! You led me to another spot for tasty sushi rolls.
The nice thing about this place is that they don't close during those hours between lunch and dinner like most other Japanese restaurants, which is why we came here (our first option was closed between 3-5pm). And although it was 3pm, we were still able to take advantage of the lunch specials! We got tempura and short ribs (yes, short ribs!) with rice, soup and salad for about 10 bucks.
And for those who need a visual to make a decision when it comes to rolls because they all sound good, they have pictures of all their specialty rolls. Prices are typical for these 6-8 piece rolls ($6-$15 bucks, depending on the roll). The 49er and Golden Gate rolls sounded and looked appetizing to us.
49er Roll: crab and avocado roll topped with salmon and thinly sliced lemon. This was our favorite. The lemon slice on top gave that extra "umph" to the roll to bring out the flavors.
Golden Gate Roll: soft shell crab, spicy crab, topped with salmon. Pretty good, too! Soft shell crab was nice and crispy.
Lunch special was served on a plate (I guess that's why it's not called a bento box), salad on the side. Tempura was typical, but the short ribs were juicy and delicious!
But after reading the Yelp reviews, I now realize I should have came here for dinner. We got the complimentary spicy mussels (yum!) but not the green tea ice cream. That's OK - it gives me another reason to come back!
This place doesn't look impressive from the outside but their food is pretty good. The udon dish was good, sushi was good, chicken was a little too dry but overall I think this is one of the best sushi places in the San Jose area. They have been giving free appetizers for dinner, very nice treat!
When I first saw this restaurant, I thought "Haha, what a funny name!"
The restaurant is very small, so I do not recommend big groups, I'd say 6 people max.
Free muscles for appetizer and free apple flavored sake with your check!
Their fishes are FRESH! They also make really good rolls! They don't check ID's when you order alcohol, or they just know you're over 21(?)
This is not an authentic Japanese restaurant, the people who cooks and serves are Korean, but they're still great.
Great minds think alike! This place has been on my bookmark for a while, so last night I finally went to Cha Cha Sushi with fellow Yelper and part time comedian Lena D. Between the two of us, we ordered (I messed up and wanted to get the Brandon Roll after reading some reviews. But after glancing at the menu and seeing all these delicious rolls, I totally dropped the ball and forgot *sigh*):
-Alaskan Crispy Roll (http://static.px.yelp....)
-South Bay Roll
-Tropic Thunder Roll
-Ocean Side Roll (http://static.px.yelp....)
-Seaweed Salad (http://static.px.yelp....)
-Sayuri Sake
-2 Sawa Sawa Sparkling Sake (http://static.px.yelp....)
This is what I thought about the food last night:
5 Stars: Yum, give me more!
Alaskan Crispy Roll - Cream cheese and salmon deliciously fried to salivate my mouth! OMG, can you say delish? As always, I'm a sucker for those deep fried rolls with cream cheese. I was in heaven with each bite I took.
Sawa Sawa Sake - Sparking unfiltered Sake served chilled, sweet yet refreshingly light flavor. It's gentle as it goes down and has no strong after taste. It's hard to pin-point the actual taste, but it sort of reminds me of a cider. This sake is so scrumptious, delicious, and highly addictive as we had to order a second bottle. :)
4 Stars: Yay, I'm a fan!
Seaweed Salad - One of my standard appetizer dishes to start with, and it didn't disappoint. It was sweet, crispy, and quite delightful!
3 Stars: Ehh-Okay!
Ocean Side Roll - A baked California Roll covered with scallops and orange creamy sauce. I'm torn of either giving you 3 or 4 stars. I found you on the tasty side, but you easily fell apart. The first piece I had was good, but by the time I had my second and third piece I found you a bit boring.
Tropic Thunder Roll - I don't remember everything in this roll aside from the soft shell crap and spicy crab, and tempura flakes. This roll was very tasty and full of flavor. Sadly, it was a bit spicier then my taste buds prefer, but still a good roll. For those who like spicy, this is a good roll for you.
1 Stars: Eek!
South Bay Roll - Tuna Sashimi top with cucumber, fried shrimp, eel, and avocado. This roll looked delicious, but it was the least desirable roll of the night. It lacked any real flavor or substance.
Bonus (extra 1/2 Star): We also received complimentary spicy mussels(http://static.px.yelp....), green tea ice cream (http://static.px.yelp....), and 2 lychee sake shots. YAY! :) Not only were the freebies great, but the service was superb! The waitresses were very polite, tentative, and didn't try to rush us out at the end of the night.
Summary (3.5 Stars): Tasty rolls and delicious sake is a great combination. Throw in a few freebies and you got yourself an appetizing treat.
still 3.5 stars..
came here the other night for the sparkling sake i fell in love with last month. the sawa sawa sparkling sake was $11 for each bottle and had enough for 4 shots. yummm... still hunting down a store/site that sells it. if you google it.. you are sure to see my yelp review along with Mike S. lol
ok now that you're done googling sawa sawa sake (lol you know you did!)... i'll move on to the sushi.
there were 4 of us and we had: sashimi dinner, tropic thunder roll, fire cracker roll, alaskan crispy, brandon roll, spicy rainbow roll, and some roll kinda like a lion king roll but with scallops on top instead of salmon.
i did not have the sashimi but it was described as fresh. that's what you want to hear about sashimi right? good to hear.
the tropic thunder was my favorite. it was spicier than the first time i had it.. had a very nice kick. the alaskan cripsy was as good as i remembered.. deep fried cream cheese. *drool* the rest of the rolls were just okay IMO. the brandon roll was hard to eat cuz the fish was piled on top.. i had to eat it in pieces.
service was attentive.. water was re-filled.. sake was brought promptly with each request.. empty plates were cleared off after giving enough time to make sure we were done. we got free mussels.. ice cream.. and raspberry dessert sake.
its not the best sushi place i've been to but its good. the sawa sawa sake will keep me coming back.. until i find it somewhere else. lol

I have been to this spot about 5 times in the past 2 months.
All 5 times was awesome! I tried a different roll each time and they were all so good and all so yummy. I'm all about sushi so I've only ordered the bento boxes once. I had the salmon teriyaki box which was mediocre but good enough to eat. I've had better. Sashimi pieces are big and tastes really fresh.
I like how they have different kinds of rolls with really different kinds of ingredients. They are more unsual than other sushi places and very creative. And again..so good!
You get free mussels during the start of your meal, and they give you complimentary green tea ice cream after your meal! How awesome is that!
It is a cramped place but they have a few tables and a small sushi bar. I recommend it to sushi lovers. But as for bento box lovers..I suggest Yuri's on Aborn.
I love CHA CHA SUSHI! Great location too! And the Honda meet is on Thursdays at 8pm LOL. Ruckus crews are going to start meeting there too! GO HONDA! LOL.
There's a huge list of special rolls (with pictures!). I honestly forgot the names of the rolls I had, but they were big and good.
The decor and atmosphere is pretty nice. I think this is a new hot spot for the young kids.
I was craving sushi after moving back from memphis where there isn't a wide variety of ethnic food esp asian cuisine. There are a few places i go to like Sen Dai & TGI Sushi but i wanted to try something new. After reading the good reviews i had to check what all the hype was about. Customer service was great, we were greeted by multiple employees as soon as we walked in and the complimentary spicy mussels tasted great. Over all the rolls were delicious but it is a lil more expensive then what i'm used to paying.
I FEEL LIKE ROYALTY WHEN I'M HERE!
The head sushi chef/owner Hanson and his wife along with the staff always treats me and my boyfriend extra nice! ;) The service is wonderful. They make you feel like family.
Their sushi place is one of the best in the south bay! My favorite roll is the Highway 87 roll. I always daydream about when I'll be eating it again. Every roll I've had so far has been pretty good though so you can't go wrong when you're there.
I'm glad I was able to be a part of their 1 Year Anniversary celebration! Free sake all day?! How can you pass that up as well as being there to celebrate with their adorable family. We left with a free t-shirt, a cute fan, and a nice buzz.
Great place to eat free muscles and green tea ice cream
Came for lunch and the chicken teriyaki was so much better quality than any place I've been before. Portions were good and the wide selection of sushi has me going back for more!
Found this place thanks to Yelpers high ratings and I am still wondering what we missed out on. I will give them props on being clean and friendly but that should be standard at any restaurant. The menu had pictures of the food and while tacky to some I think it's a great way to chose food you wouldn't otherwise pick.
That said this is definitely not a typical Sushi place because many of the Sushi options have been Americanized. More so than at most Sushi joints around. Depending on who you ask this may be a good thing or a bad thing. For us not so good. Also Sushi options are scarce on this part of town. Maybe that's why Cha Cha is such a bit hit on Yelp?
These rolls were the smallest I've ever seen yet the prices were on par to other Sushi joints.
The rock - $9.95
Tropic Thunder - $11.95
GSW - $8.95
Ocean Side - $10.95
Of the different rolls we ordered none of them stood out as better than the next. We even ordered a baked one and that one was even worse than the others. We were given some freebies but even then that doesn't make up for the Sushi. I don't know how many restaurants have failed at this location but good luck Cha Cha. We will not be returning to get our Cha Cha on.
Yelp Rating 2.5 stars. We've definitely experienced better.
* Complimentary spicy mussels and green tea ice cream
I came here a few months ago with the family, bf's cousins who came from the UK. We had 3 kids with us and yes we did have to wait to get a table for 8. Definitely worth the wait. We have been here before and never got the chance to come back until now. I love the rolls. There are so many different varieties that we always end up getting more than expected. We use to live across the street from Cha Cha but now we have unfortunately moved back to the East Side of San Jose. I love their baked scallop roll. Yes, it falls apart, but something about picking every bit of the pieces is fine with me. =oD We don't come here often but it's definately on the top 2 for my list of "Let's have sushi tonight". Cha Cha, until we meet again...
Cha Cha wrote to let me know they appreciated all the Yelp reviews and would try their best to heed Yelpers' advice. I have to say that the miso soup is a lot better now and the udon has improved to the point where even hubby -- who is not a noodle-head like me -- asks to share my bowl.
(Sushi chef) hats off to Hanson and his crew. We love having you here.

At first I didn't believe it: A 5 star [Out of 65 reviews!?] hole in the wall sushi place in a shopping center??.. mmmmkaaayy.
But truth be told I got pwned by their awesomeness on BOTH my visits.
First time I came with 5 other ppl, one thing that stood out was their hawaiian poke [amazing]. They gave us complementary spicy mussels, and a shot of sake + and a dollop of green tea ice cream each after dinner.. Isn't it funny how we get a tiny awkward feeling of 'surprise' when we get things for free as a thank you' from restaurant owners? Like they're NOT supposed to do that? lol.. We asked to split the bill 3 ways between the couples and we didn't get any gripe about it, cool. We got a bunch of other stuff but I forgot, all I can say is that it was good enough for me to come back!!
The second time I came w/ the gf we just had a small dinner since we ate a few hrs earlier [ya shut up] .. we got the spicy mussels, just no ice cream or sake. No biggie.
The prices are decent, and from what I've tried they're all pretty good rolls.. plus the sake sashimi pieces are melt in your mouth buttery.. nom nom.
Get YOUR Cha Cha on, and soon!!
I decided to try this place since it is right around the corner from my house. I admit that I was a bit wary because it is in a shopping center and does not look that appealing from the outside.
Wow, I was pleasantly suprised! The decor inside is great and it looks very clean, which is important to me in any restaurant!
The menus are nice and they have a laminated menu that shows you the names & pictures of various items which is nice to see a pic before you order.
I have been here 2x already and will def be back. The first time tho, the server came to take our order and after my bf ordered, i changed my mind at the last minute and let the server know that i needed a couple minutes...well she came out about 7 min later with my bf's dish and never bothered to ask what i wanted! ugh. But it turned out ok because his dish had a lot of rolls and we shared and the 2nd time we went, we pretty much had immpecable service!
The dishes are very good and VERY reasonably priced. Bonus for the free oysters they give customers!~
last night after class, my friend and I were craving some sushi. checking out Yelp, we originally were going to go somewhere else, but they ended up being closed. so we went back onto Yelp and decided to check out Cha Cha Sushi. I had heard good things about this place, and decided it was a go. And plus, it was around 8PM, and if we didn't decide to just go somewhere, we would have missed out on sushi last night.
the decor at Cha Cha Sushi is pretty neat - semi contemporary but simple. They have some cool lights with glass design coverings (we think they're from Ikea).
The sushi is pretty good here. For sushi, we ordered the Unagi Lovers, Highway 87, and I had a Unagi hand roll. The rolls were fresh, and the Unagi was very good. The Highway 87 ended up not being as tasty as I thought it was considering how many ingredients were in it.
In terms of the food, I would give Cha Cha 4 stars - fresh, and solid sushi. However, the service made me lower a star. After we sat down, the waitress constantly came to ask us if we were ready to order literally every minute. If you're a good server, you should be able to tell when people are ready, usually signalled by putting the menus down, or starting to look around. anyhow, we were taking awhile to decide since we wanted to sit down and catch up really quick, and we just wanted to take our time! however, the server was really pushy, came to our table about 4 times in 5 minutes, and the last time she came, she asked me "do you need help?" for a second, i was a bit offended, but then i let it go.
funny thing cause after she dropped our food off, it took forever to get her to come back. like when we wanted to pay, she wouldn't come back. went from being too pushy, to not attentive.
one cool thing though, it was someone's birthday at another table. and when they came out to sing, they brought out a bunch of japanese costume hats and took pictures of them. fun!
I haven't been here in a while (like 2 weeks!), but I've been meaning to rate it from my last experiences. Plus, I've been craving it, so it reminded me of writing my review. This place really is awesome. I feel like they know me, not by name, but by face.. and it probably helps to remember me because I have a pretty crazy kid with me whenever I come in. They know my usual, which is so awesome. Even if I order it the normal way, the owner always makes it the way I like it.
Even if they didn't know me, I appreciate that they are very kind to every customer that walks through their door. It's hard to have kind people with some simple customer service skills nowadays or even someone that smiles. So I just wanted to say, Thank you Cha Cha Sushi, for filling my tummy with yummy sushi and kind service.
