Make sure to go early ( meaning before 9pm), this place gets packed quick!! It's not pretty waiting in the hall or waiting outside in the cold!!!!
When I get a chance to get together with friends, I definitely have to order my black mussels!!! Theyre a delish!!!
I highly, highly recommend the sangria!! It's to die for!!!!
Service is awesome! Even if it's very busy, they always make time to make sure everything is superb and that we are all happy!!!
Environment is amazing! lively and energetic music!!! -

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! We always come here (or the one on Mission) whenever I'm in town with my fam. Always great food, and consistent at both locations. This location is smaller, but nice & quaint (on certain nights) compared to the one on mission, which is very busy!
Our favorites are the tapas menu:
-Fried calamari - coated and fried to a perfect crisp and great texture dipped in a lemon-garlic aioli.
-Cajun shrimp (w/ extra sauce) - sauteed in a creamy, flavorful sauce with a slight smoked flavor to it. I highly recommend the extra sauce...it's to dip your bread in...SO GOOD!
-Sauteed mushrooms - mushrooms simmered in wine flavored with garlic and herbs.
-Jerk chicken - succulent baked chicken thigh, perfectly seasoned with a slight sweetness and a tad spicy served over rice.
Oh, and you can't go there without ordering their sangria! It's a must ;)
I have yet to order the other food they have in their menu, but it makes it harder to try the other foods when you've already got awesome tasting favorites that you look forward to and crave every time you're there. *Sigh* Next time, I will try to have enough courage to do so, but for the meantime, we haven't found a reason to try the other stuff as our usuals always satisfies our palates. -

It was okay nothing fancy. My shrimp was bland but the cream sauce with bread was slamming after a fee glasses of sangria which is okay. Nothing spectacular at all but the sangria prices.
$5 for glass (small glass)
$12 half picture
$50 whole pitcher which is cool if you have a group. -

Delicious sangria with very reasonable price! Came here for drinks last Saturday with two of my girl friends and I loved it! We ordered the big pitcher of sangria and it was strong and well-made. Oh, and it definitely did its job. We were all buzzed after finishing the pitcher and none of us are light-weight drinkers!
Service was super fast and friendly, they give us a basket of bread after we mentioned to the bartenders that we were slightly hungry. I can't wait to try their food, saw so many great reviews on their tapas! -

Amazing that at 7:30p we were promptly seated on a Saturday night. Amazing. Oh- wait. I forgot to mention that someone in our party of four put our name on the list at 6:00p. This is a complicated way of telling you- expect to wait on the weekends!
Cha Cha Cha is so garishly decorated. It's kinda cool- but it also looks like a tropical somewhere threw up all over the place. I was super surprised when I didn't see pink flamingos and water wings hanging from the walls.
Our waitress was either having a bad day, had smelled something awful that she couldn't get out of her nostrils- or simply suffers from "b*tch face." Customer service was not exactly friendly. Kinda kills the meal when asking for a glass of water was met with a sigh.
We ordered:
Calamari (This was good, I liked the peppery bite it had.)
Spicy Shrimp (These were ok...I didn't expect them to be in a cream sauce, and I think that threw me off a bit.)
Potatoes (These were good too- but they didn't scream Tapas to me!)
All and all it was an enjoyable meal, but nothing wowed me. It was good, but not great. I did appreciate how fast they brought us the dishes!
If I was going to go out for Tapas again I'd rather go to Picarro or Alegrias. -
Review from reyz a.
Crowded, with a nice decor. It's a nice change for the Haight.
Sangria is good here and moderately priced tapas. As in any tapas place, these are all suppose to be finger food. The potatoes, spicy shrimp and calamari or little sandwhiches that other people were eating were pretty good. -

Four stars because the parking is tough... but i've tried to convince myself that the food and drinks made up for the time looking for a parking......
It get's pretty crowded, I sort of just hang at the bar area and order up Sangia and food there, it seems to be the easiest.
Easiest in a sense that you still get great food and service is more imeadiate.
Favorites are the Cajun Shrimp and Warm Spinach Salad....Yummm
Try it you will love it, I assure you!! -

BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS!!!!!!
Sweet tangy and strong you can't go wrong. The food is great too!!!! I love the tapas. It is a fun place to eat and drink with friends. It gets ridiculously busy. Make sure to get in early so you can reserve a place and or lock down some seats at the bar. -

On a recent Saturday afternoon I was wandering amidst the modern day hippies and the twentysomething homeless drug users on Haight St. Time for lunch. Cha Cha Cha was pretty full with a hipster crowd but still managed to get a table. The restaurant was buzzing. The decor reminds me of the House of Blues voodoo chic before it was franchised. Hipster indeed.
Ordered the Cajun shrimp, the ceviche, chicken paillard, sautéed mushrooms, and the calamari. Everything was really good especially the saucy shrimp and chicken. The ceviche was also quite good. The calamari was pretty pedestrian but I deserved that for ordering one of the least inspiring things on the menu.
Atmosphere, food, and service were all quite solid and I would be happy to return. -

I had walked by the Haight Street Cha Cha Cha a number of times, and it was always bumping.
When my girlfriend and I finally went, we weren't too impressed. We started with a pitcher of sangria while waiting for our table (it was crowded as hell, but that's the way I like my restaurants). The sangria was very good- fairly strong and delicious, for the right price.
When we sat down to eat, we ordered a few small dishes to split, none of which blew us away. The new potatoes were decent, but they were nothing more than french fries with aioli, and the calamari and quesadillas weren't anything special. I admit we both really liked the chicken wings with the guava chipotle glaze. Probably the saving grace for the meal.
Maybe we just ate the wrong things, but I wasn't too impressed with the food overall. I'd go back, but probably wouldn't be looking forward to it. My recommendation, though: there are other better options for tapas or small bites, across the whole price/quality spectrum. I'd head elsewhere. -

I love it here. I really, really do.
This was my first meal of the new year, and my, was it QUITE A FIRST MEAL OF THE NEW YEAR.
My friend and I came here to meet with a few other friends for a late lunch on New Years day.
It took a little while to get seated, but what better way to wait for our seating than to head over to the bar and load up on some sangria?
All sangria'd up, we finally got to our seats, and my friend, who was familiar with the place, started ordering various tapas dishes. He ordered (let's see if my memory serves me right):
- A couple of pitchers of Sangria (which my friends and I all agreed was good. really good)
- Cajun shrimp
- Steamed black mussels
- Sauteed mushrooms
- Fried new potatoes
- Spanish rice and black beans
- Ceviche
All of these hit the spot in the most tender, delightful way..... Most notable were the fried new potatoes and cajun shrimp....
I'll be back............ -
Review from Jean Y.
Fun atmosphere. No inch of wall without art. I personally found some of the decor a bit freaky, like the gigantic bronze angels hanging from the ceiling.
The wait can be long, but you can hang out at the bar while you wait or even order food at the bar if there are seats available instead of waiting for a table.
The tapas selection is small compared to other places I've visited, so with a large group, you can sample a high percentage of the menu. I recommend:
* Ceviche - $9.75: Extremely delicious. Served with mixed greens and a really tasty dressing.
* Cajun shrimp with spicy cream sauce - $9.50: The sauce was so delicious we kept asking for extra bread to dip in it. I ate way too much rice just so I could get more of the sauce.
* Sauteed mushrooms - $8: Soft and garlicky.
* Sangria: The sangria here definitely hits harder than the sangria I've tried at other tapas places!
I do not recommend any of the raciones (large plates) we tried, including the chicken, mahi mahi, and pork options. They all came with too much rice, and the flavors were pretty average. -

I love the food here but seriously, I have been here since 6:30 and have yet to be seated! It is now almost 8:00pm. Food is awesome, sangria keeps you company but the wait, ridiculous!!! "First come first served," means if you're next on the list you are next to be seated! The waitress planned on waiting until the next two seated table was available(with only 3 available) when groups of four and six people bypassed us within 5 minutes of coming in. Who thought of that business model! Surely the reason for their poor rating; come as soon as possible if you're a party of two, or eight without reservation, or wait forever, oh, unless you don't mind sitting at the bar!

Review from Tracy T.
Sangria is seriously amazing. Really. Get the Shrimp dish and potatoes. This place is definitely known for their tapas so opt for that rather than an entree. Good company, tapas and a pitcher of sangria easily makes a fantastic night!
The wait can be a pain but IT'S WORTH IT! -

Decent food, bad service.
Dropped into dinner at 6:30 with an ex-GF and it was decent. 2 small shared orders (small being the key word) and a pitcher of Sangria cost $50, but it was at least good food.
My big gripe came towards the end of the meal, as the bar started to fill up and we we were about done. The good looking female bartender (with zero personality) had the nerve to ask me to "move over," which was impossible considering I had already bumped into the guy next to me about 5 times. It felt more like a request to leave, and after responding "If you bring the water I've been waiting on for 15 minutes, we will leave," she brought the water immediately, and we left.
Would have been a lot less of a big deal if my ex GF wasn't such a pushover, and controlling person, and once we got outside she immediately started to chastise me for not just listening and moving over. -

Cha Cha Cha is great for Tapas (quesadilla, fried calamari)
BEST THINGS ON THE MENU:
-Chicken Paillard!!! Omg the sauce is delicioussssss so make sure to ask for extra you can dip the complimentary bread and butter in!
-New fried potatoes!!! Their side sauce is also great!
Sangria is also very good (reason why most people dine here)... Slightly overpriced.
Internal Advice: the Haight location is cheaper than the mission! -

Num num num!! By the name, I didn't expect a nice place at ALL, but this is one of my bf's fav spots in the Haight, so I came.
The decor is very .. interesting. It's a bit loud and cramped so don't come here on a first date or anything. The sangria is good :)
Service was fast upon arriving, our bread came a bit late though (they serve it when you first get your food.. I prefer it to come right after I order 'cause I'm a hungry, hungry hippo all the time..
Prices were fair for a Spanish tapas place, not too expensive.
The price is TOTALLY worth it though for well-cooked and flavorful food. EFF I am totally craving for those garlic mushrooms right now. Dip the bread in this sauce (omg, HEAVEN)..
We also got the ceviche which was really fresh and yummy. The portion was decent as well. It woulda went better if it came w/ tortilla chips though!
Forgot what else we ordered, but everything was REALLY good...
I was sick but the fried new potatoes and calamari looked hella bomb so we didn't order those. EEP! Must. Come. Back. -

Portions are filling. We ordered an appetizer before our two entrees and were stuffed. There seems to always be a bit of a wait here during the busy times, but there's a great vibe inside. In my dream world, I would like a block away from here and have large servings of sangria to wrap up the working week.

quaint and warm
I was there not that long ago for a company outing and waited days for our large group to get seated but it was fun nonetheless. Man o man that place was full, warm, and just right. You have to understand it was a cold night with a lil bit of sprinkles. My oh my was it brrrrrrrr but it was ok cuz the food and the sangria kept me and mine warm all night.
Speaking of which I do not know how I made it home. Whether it be a force of nature or sheer will.. the combination of countless tapas and endless sangria should have put me into food coma with food babies to spare. I had always had an issue with the size of the portions because they are so good and I just want so much more but since the tab was on Tito G we all had more than our fair share of deliciousness. And did I mention the sangria. Red.. red is the only sangria I care for and it takes care of me in a great way.
I hear the other location is a touch bigger but there's nothing like the original.

Came here one cold Monday night and got seating at the bar. Really liked the ambiance of the whole place and all the interesting decorations.
Service is quick and friendly. Not a huge menu but interesting selections. We shared a seafood pallea and had the fried plantains. Oh and also half a pitcher of sangria yum hehe
Food was pretty good though nothing super duper but the meal and drinks sure filled us up and kept us warm!
Great place to chill out and chat over a nice meal! -

I recently came here with my girlfriend on a thursday and we got a seat right away with no wait at all. The food we ordered was good and it came in a decent amount.
Here's the break down:
-Cajun Shrimp: delicious! I loved the sauce with bread, pretty much put that sauce on everything I ate
-Seafood Paella: it's enough to share between 2 people, very well made and authentic, delicious as well!
-Sangria: I heard that their sangria is famous so I had to try it. It's a spanish sangria and it was pretty spot on.
They also had other tapas that I wanted to try but didn't have a stomach big enough to eat them all.. but definitely coming back some day to try them all! -

A friend of mine and I were house sitting for her sister who lives just a few blocks off of Haight-Ashbury and we had been recommended to go here for dinner. We're both recent college grads, so we knew it would be a splurge, but we went ahead and traipsed over after our long tourist-y day including walking the length of the golden gate bridge. We walked in a few minutes before 5, when they start serving dinner, and they warned us that the kitchen wasn't open for dinner yet, but we could sit down and have drinks in the meantime. We gladly came in, chose a table, and ordered a pitcher of sangria. The sangria was truly spectacular and I've tried a fair number of different sangrias. Although the kitchen wasn't yet open, the waiter who sat us came by to offer us chips and salsa (which was AWESOME and just the right amount of spicy)
A few minutes after 5, a waiter came up to us and took our order. We got the chicken wings with the guava-chili glaze, the shrimp in cream sauce, and the fried new potatoes with the aioli and a house salad. All great choices and far too much food, even for two who entered starving.
Waiters were attentive in refilling water glasses and asking about our experience and didn't even hurry us along despite the fact that the restaurant was filling up and we sat chatting for two hours with our tapas. Highly recommended and will come back at my next opportunity! -

Recently moved into the area, and Cha Cha Cha quickly became my go-to spot for good, reasonably priced food and great sangria.
Overall sentiment: fantastic place for tapas, pitchers of sangria, and an interesting ambiance. Does get busy, but you can hang out by the bar.
The Good:
- Best tapas in San Francisco I've found for the price. Highlights are chicken wings, prawns with a great sauce, and fried new potatoes.
- Pretty authentic sangria, and option for half or whole pitchers.
- Good entrees too, but the real specialty is in the tapas.
- Unique ambiance
- Consistently solid service
The Bad:
- Cramped, and gets busy. You can wait and order drinks by the bar, but that gets crowded too.
- Don't take reservations
- They've brought the wrong food to me a couple times, but I've always received the correct order very soon after that.
Cha Cha Cha is a fun and delicious little haven that rests towards the end of Haight, right before it fades into Golden Gate Park craziness. This is a really versatile place; you can dress up or down, you can go on a date or in a group, you can order tapas or entrees, and you can get drunk or have less fun.
The only entree I've tried is the steak, which was marinated in a Spanish-style sauce and cooked deliciously. Sangria is always top-notch, and they have a few beers on draft (last time they had Death and Taxes, one of my favorite beers). Because of the small size of the restaurant, they only have a few servers on at once, and they get really busy. I've never seen them lose their cool though, and they always do a good job of checking on people.
Check it out as a starting place for tapas and sangria, or as a dinner destination, you won't be let down. -
Review from Liz W.
Portions are small (literally 4 pieces of shrimp in the Cajun shrimp...which was a little too creamy and salty BTW) ...but SANGRIA IS GOOD!!!!! The food I'd say is alright...I've definitely had better tasting tapas and better tapa presentations... but for the atmosphere and the nice waiters (who happen to be quite slowwwww), I GUESS I'll give it 3 stars...

Went here for tapas and sangria with a friend of mine earlier this evening. Really, really liked this place. Cozy, not too crowded, but lively. The calamari and mussels were delicious. Great place to get drinks and/or food, and enjoy the atmosphere. Located in a very trendy location on Haight.

I love this place! Their tapas are delicious! I ordered a ceviche salad, sangria, and some fried calamari with some aioli sauce.
I'm hardly in the city but when I am, I always want to get a bit of that sangria. Call me a party animal, but that drink is the s***!
Best place for sangria and although the inside looks pretty janky, it mixes well with the ambiance and the restaurant theme. -
Review from Diane N.
I would only go to Cha Cha Cha with the right company because such a fun place would otherwise be a waste! The tapas are very tasty, and if you are a sangria fan, Cha Cha Cha's sangrias do not disappoint. The rumor is that the fruit basks in the sangria all night long like a real rockstar. Although everything is a little pricey (as a full meal can add up quick), the cozy seating, eclectic decor, and yummy food makes this a heavy hitter for a relaxing meal with your besties.

I overall love the impression and flavor of Cha Cha Cha. If you want the chief of all sangria I'd suggest coming here. It's delish.
It gets packed on weekend nights, but who cares. The drinks make up for it.Listed in: Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am.

Cha cha cha had big portions but quality was alright. When I was there, I ordered potatoes, canjun shrimp, and calamari. The potatoes came with a dipping sauce which was interesting, canjun shrimp was fresh, and so was the batch of calamari. The atmosphere was great -- definitely a great place to catch up with friends. SO...all in all the experience was good.

This place did not live up to the hype, in fact hype was about the only thing I could come up with to explain the popularity of this place. The ambiance is decent and I imagine the sangria is OK (I didn't have any but it's pretty hard to mess up sangria), but the food was bland at best.
We actually experienced great service from our server Eva, who went out of her way to ensure that my girlfriend's order adhered to her dietary restrictions (we tipped her accordingly). I had the seafood paella, which was basically some soggy rice tossed with a bunch of cheap seafood (I have never seen baby shrimp in a paella- this is something you usually only see in fried rice), canned olives, frozen peas with a good half inch of liquid in the bottom of the dish. I understand that not every paella has to be Spanish-style Paella a la Valenciana with Socorrat at the bottom, but if you're going to advertize it on the menu as having saffron, please don't throw half a packet of Sazon in the rice and pretend that's the same thing. -

Cha Cha Cha-ching!
So I haven't been back to this tapas joint in 5 years, every since I'd graduated from State. Because of this I had forgotten how awesome the food and Sangria are! Now I've been to both stores in SF but from what I remember, and experienced tonight, the Haight location is preferable. Definitely a crammed space for dining purposes all made up for by the super tasty tapas. If possible, choose seating at the bar.
We started with the calamari which was on point, though I wasn't a fan of the what seemed to be mayo based dipping sauce, but I prefer to just eat mine with lemon anyways. I don't think I've ever had the wings in the sweet sweet glaze, but extremely glad I chose them this time. Always get the plantains and black bean sauce, and even though I have for some reason developed a crustacean allergen, I would almost insist anyone patronizing this venue to order the Cajun shrimp. When recalling past flavors from my college glory days, this dish tops my brain synapsis. Also the steamed muscles are the best I think I've had anywhere. And of course their wonderful sangria compliments all the dishes superbly!
Glad I finally made it back to this old haunt, and that its still as good as I remember. -

One of my absolute fav place to go when I am in San Francisco!!!! I am not sure if it is the crowd, the food or the drinks that make it so much fun. Everytime I go, it so crazy but a good kind of crazy. I just love drinking that Sangria and talking s** all night long!!! The people of San Francisco are so friendly!!
I came here on a Wednesday night, while on a two holiday vacation. Have only been before on a weekend night ( what a big difference).
Wednesday night was kinda dead, but had good company. Will be back on a weekend night!
Be ready to wait a while for a table, but no worries, that is why they serve up some killer Sangria....and sometimes you drink so much, you do not want to even go eat when they call your table.
I Chicken Paillard with Dijon mustard cream sauce. I ordered extra sauce and it is worth it!!! The sauce alone I can eat with bread, so yummy, reminds me the kind of gravy.
Fried Platanos Maduros, tropical sweet bananas with black beans & sour cream
Cajun Shrimp ,sautéed in a spicy cream sauce
and the Lechon Asado, Roast leg of pork seasoned with adobe criollo served with habichuelas guisadas & white rice ,.
all dishes were excellent, I could have done without the roast leg of pork and had more tapas instead....next time i guess! -

I chose the place because of the Yelp reviews, but boy was I disappointed! Decent appetizers (that sadly, you can't order at the bar), good sangria, long wait, horrible service, arbitrary rules, mediocre entrees.
With our sangrias, we waited around a small table at the bar for our main table at the restaurant, but our chairs were taken away because we were told the chairs weren't supposed to be there! We couldn't order appetizers at the bar if we were waiting for a table, because 'it's too much trouble to move stuff over'. Also, you aren't seated until your entire party has arrived. The atmosphere would be tolerable, even fun, if it weren't for the rude service.
And yet, surprisingly, the place was crowded. I can't think why anyone would be ok with such low standards of service. -

Amazing food and Sangria! I would suggest doing a bunch of appetizers and splitting them (large servings)... Must get the fried plantains and the fried potatoes, if you want something lighter try the mushrooms.

YUM!! So a friend recommened this place to go to for my sister's birthday. It really is just a little hole in the wall, nothing I would ever have picked out myself. The place is super small, so when you walk in there really isn't anywhere to go. There is someone standing right in front of you when you walk in to seat you. We went on a Wednesday night and the place was PACKED. We were told it was going to be about a 45 min wait for a table for 7, but it only took about 20 min which was nice. When we were waiting for our table we tried to go wait at the bar, FORGET IT! Super packed, so while 2 people stayed behind the rest of the group went wondering down the street. (great for people watching).
The Sangria was awesome, best I ever had (ok besides in Mexico but that doesn't count). The food is somewhat family style. One dish serves about 3 people. The warm spinach salad is GREAT! I also enjoyed the dijon chicken, the potatoes, and the chicken quesadilla was surprisingly bursting with flavor. My mouth is watering as I'm writing this because the food was so good, and I can't wait to go back.
So the only downsides would be that the place is very tiny and there is really NO room when you sit down you are right next to the other table, close enough to eat off their plates. But it kind of adds to the experience. The food came out really fast when we ordered, but it was hard to get a server to order drinks and the drinks took awhile, but understandable since the bar was so packed. I would def recommend!! so good, and a different experience than I've had before. -

What a poppin' little place for sangria! I have been dying to try a good tapas bar in San Francisco, and I have yet to find one! UNTIL NOW! This place was really packed on a Friday night - there was even a waiting list to sit at the bar! Unfortunately, we came for drinks only. We had 2 pitchers of sangria for 6 people.. not bad eh? On your first sip, you may think.. "Hmm not bad.." It's a little fruity, a little girly, and yes it is strong! I don't think my tolerance is low, but after a few small glasses, I started to feel a slight buzz kickin' in. That's the best part! It will hit you like a rock :)
I also love the ambiance here. It's pretty bustling and vibrant, very much like the cultures of Cuba and Spain. I was immediately drawn to all the color decorations and music. This is a great place to hang out, but like I said before.. it gets crowded.
I will definitely have to come back to try the food! An update is a must.. coming very soon! -

Yummy! I have to stop in every few months when I'm in the city to get my fix. Start with the sangria, then order family style and share with your party. Don't miss the warm spinach salad and Cajun shrimp. You can order extra sauce with the shrimp then use it to dip bread(it's phenomenal!). If there is a long wait you can snag some chips and salsa at the bar. Our frequently ordered items are fried potatoes, calamari, BBQ quesadilla, chicken wings, and mussels.they are all crowd pleasers and you end up spending less if you order the small plates.
