I work right across the street from Cero's and have worked here for over 2 years and have never eaten there. I am not much of a sandwich guy as I think it's kind of a waste to pay someone $ for something as simple as a sandwich, yet, I tried it for the first time today....

...and I was pleasantly surprised! I told my co-workers that I will never again go to Subway or Quiznos and overpay for a sandwich that's not half as good as the one I had today. I had the All-American and the ham was delicious, it tasted like it was from a fresh deli and the bread was delightfully fluffy and buttery. I was just totally shocked!

I agree with other posters in that they do over "lettuce" the sandwich as I had lettuce falling all over the place around my sandwich, but that's a small price I am now willing to pay for such a great sandwich. And the size!!! Wow, I ordered the half, which is 8", and when I got it, I thought they had made a mistake and given me the Whole...it was huge!

In the end, I have a found a new sandwich shop that I am not going to add to my list of favorites.

When you walk up you have the expectations, it looks kinda like a dive.  This place HAS to be good.  At the counter proudly hangs the "Best of Dallas, 2002," Observer sign.  And I asked myself why they haven't won it since.  I found out.

Don't get me wrong, the sandwich was okay.  I ordered the International which comes with ham, turkey, salami, sausage, and American cheese.  There are two ways to order, regular which is mustard, mayo, lettuce, and tomato; or spicy with oil, garlic, crushed oregano, green and red crushed peppers.  Go spicy or do not go at all.  I was sharing the large sandwich with my daughter so we had it regular.  It tasted like something you'd get from Subway, but with chewier bread and way too much lettuce.  The meat was totally lost in the sandwich.  I'm assuming the spicy would have been better.  The half sandwich, which is plenty runs about $4-$5.  I will try it again next time I'm there, and we shall see.

Also, make sure you have cash.  One would think a long standing neighborhood favorite would have the ability to accept some other form of payment, but no.  You will have to cross some seriously heavy traffic to get to the nearest 7-11 to get cash.  The hustle and bustle of busy downtown Grapevine should influence the owner to make it easier to get his subs...there is a Quizno's across the street and closer than the 7-11.  Not that it would have been as good a deal.

Everything is larger in Texas, so they say. After eating here, I believe it! Holy cow, asked for a whole sandwich, thinking it would be the pathetic size of a quiznos sandwich that you can finish with two bites. Received what look to be some kind of armed assault weapon, a mortar launcher, 16 inches long! Dayam thing almost did not fit in the car door! Eating the dang thing was pretty good too. I ordered the international, with salami and ham, and cheese after asking the counter person what is the most  popular sandwich. Let me tell you, I ate the first half for lunch, and saved the rest for dinner. Even after sitting in the trunk of my car for 4 hours later, it was still good to every last bite! Jared, you better not start to eat these sub's, you'll become a fat-ass again!

I'd long forgotten about this place until a friend "discovered" it a few week ago.   A sign in their window says they're in their 4th decade, so evidently, they're doing something very right.   At the corner of Main and Northwest highway, north end of Grapevine's historic district, it's a park your car, walk-up drive-in;  Mostly take-out, but there are a couple of picnic tables.  While ithe sandwich isn't bulging with meat, it is very filling and fully satisfying.  I would liken it more to a meat salad on a hogie roll.  The international, which has salami, ham, turkey, swiss and provolone, is my choice, but there are about 6 others, including beef and a hot meatball.   The "spicy" sauce is a concontion of oil, garlic, oregano, red crushed peppers and small rings of green (sport?) peppers.  Of  course, it comes with marinated, shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes.  They cater to the lunch crowd as shut-down is 3 p.m..  Not open on Sunday.
