If you've never had their green waffles, try it now. If you have, get more.
Bad thing is they used to be $1 but now they're $1.25. Now I can only buy 3 for $4 instead of 4. That's just a tragedy.

love it here. You have to try their Hong kong bread--the one that is long with the yellow bean/custard coconut in it. Scrumptious!!
Mmmmmmm... GREEN WAFFLES!! My favorite snack! Its healthy right, cause it's green? jk I've been coming here since I was still in high school when they were at the old location. The cakes are delicious too! Mmm...think I'll have to go get some today! :)

The green waffles are delicious! At $1.25 a piece, you can't go wrong. It tastes good plain enough. After reading the reviews, I came here on a Sunday morning when the place wasn't busy yet. I was able to get some hot, barely off the griddle waffles. However, service can be shoddy. Before ordering the waffles, I was looking around for other treats that I was contemplating on trying. The lady at the register kept raising her voice at me to order when I wasn't ready yet (it's like "HURRY UP AND BUY!!"). I told her I was looking around first and then she threw a hissy fit. Then when I was ready, she took my order and I handed her the money (pausing for a moment to ask my husband if he had an extra 75 cents in coins since I only had bills). The cashier immediately reacted and raised her voice at me as if I wasn't going to pay the remaining 75 cents. As soon as I gave it to her, she just threw the waffles in a paper bag and shoved it at me. For my first visit to this establishment, I was appalled by the treatement I got. Don't get me wrong though. When I first walked in, I wasn't expecting 5 star treatment at all. Just shocked and caught off guard by the worker's reaction towards me. I don't recall ever being mistreated so bad at a store ever. My husband even saw what happened and was turned off as well. If it wasn't for the green waffles, I probably would have just left the place without purchasing anything. Hopefully the next time I ever go back, I hope they'll be a little nicer. I give 3 stars only for the waffles.

I have to admit, their waffles are indeed good but that is until i started noticing little black particles in the waffle. I thought nothing of it at first. In fact, i thought they were little burnt pieces of crust from the previous batch but after taking a closer look at it, it appeared to be the nonstick teflon coating on their waffle griddles coming off onto the waffles. I dont know how safe it is to consume teflon but i know it cant be good for you. I stopped buying waffles at this place after my discovery but you can take your chances. Next time you buy your waffles from this place, take a closer look to see if you have additional black particles in your waffle.

I ordered 11 green waffles. I passed them around and everyone wondered why the hell they were green. I said don't worry and just eat em, no syrup needed. Now mind you I probably ate like 3 of em before I started to feel queezy but, still worth it. I also bought some creme puffs but they were hard and didn't taste good. They were not light and fluffy with a flaky outside.

Would've been 5 stars...HOWEVER, I asked if it was possible to make fresh waffles while I waited since it was so early in the morning and no one was waiting (hell no one was even INSIDE the mall!). The lady who took my money smiled and said no problem.
However, the biatch who picks up the ladle and pours the batter on the waffle maker started yelling about how none of her shiet is old, they just made it, it's still fresh blah blah blah. I don't doubt that it was just made that day..I just wanted a HOT one, right off the maker. Is that so freakin hard? Am I bringing down the house by asking you to do your job? Besides, how am I supposed to know when exactly you made those damn waffles?! If the mall doesn't open until 10, then why do you have 15 of them ready to be sold at 9 am?!
Waffles ended up being too soggy and innerbread like doughy-ness. It was super hot (score!) and yummy, but I prefer a crisp one (parents are having a hard time eating crispy things). Not too bad, $1.25 a piece! However, I'll just take my ass over to Tully Rd in Lion Plaza instead you meanie lady you!
GREEN WAFFLES!
I know it sounds weird but they're fantastic. My friend, Jane, introduced me to these this morning. They make a really good snack. You don't have to put syrup or butter on them. The flavor is in the "pandan" waffle. My friend said that they jacked up the price. They use to be a buck, now they're $2.50 each. Who could really blame them? They're selling like hotcakes. LOL
Don't order anything else except for the green pandan waffles.
On the weekends they tend to make big batches and have the waffles sitting there for quick service. This means, when you get your waffle, its either overcooked, rock hard, or its undercooked, and soggy. Ask for fresh ones!
The other pastries are mediocre, and just not worth it.

I only come here for the green waffles.
Everytime I'm back home, I beg someone to take me to Grand Century so I can get the waffles. I haven't tried anything else here, expect perhaps the iced coffee, which is pretty good.
M.T. is definately on the spot in where, if you come on a busy day and they're bustin' out the waffles out of those little waffle makers they got, the quality is definately inconsistent. Plus, being that its right at the entrance of the mall, it can get super crowded and busy on the weekend.
SOOOO if you're craving some great green waffles, come on a good day and Century Bakery won't let you down. Think twice though, about a busy weekend visit.
I was here the other night after my boyfriend's mother's birthday party. I got some steamed buns... they were good. We were there right before close so she gave me a deal, buy a bunch, get some free. I didn't really want a bunch but I'm an easy sell so I got them and gave them to my bf's family. I kept an extra for me but when I went to eat it the next day, it was gone. *sigh* I think my boyfriend stole it...
Now that I read the Yelp reviews, I have to go back for the green waffles. Thanks Yelp, I was satisfied and now I'm not. *sigh* LoL
Oh yeah, they had some really cool looking Vietnamese cakes in their display too. Those weird jello cake things. :-D Haha... I'll post a pic of them...
See ya there!

Food - 3.5
Service - 3
Ambience - 2.5
Love the sweet, sweet smell of the pandan waffles. Love that they are not too sweet. My company has an annual Waffle Day celebration and I always make a bee line for the woman who brings in the green waffle batter from this place.
Have also purchased the young coconut cakes from this bakery. It's the Hubby and my favorite kind of cake because the cake is light and fluffy and the coconut filling is simply heavenly. Plus the frosting they use is just sweet enough without being overbearing or heavy.
Service is about what you expect from an Asian bakery that always packed with customers on the weekends. It definitely helps to know Vietnamese but I've found a few employees who also speak Cantonese, so that's been a good bonus for me.
I love the green waffles but they raised the price, or did they rip me off??? I got the buy 10 get 1 free and they charged me $12. I think they need more competition. Who else sells these waffles?
The first time I got the waffle here it was crispy but the last few times they were soggy. The best thing to do is bring them home and toast them in your mini oven. I think they are so popular they rush making them.
Love coconut? Pandan tastes like it.
The green waffles here are THA BOMB!!! Try them with some sweetened condensed milk drizzled on top. HELLA BOMB.
Four stars for their yummy yummy fresh pandan (green) waffles. My daughter LOVES it and it is by far the most flavorful one I've tasted. The ones at Lion plaza are bland and they hardly give you fresh ones. I've also tried a few places in LA but they were gross.
YUM. I think the green waffles the best thing you can ever buy from an asian bakery.
My favorite color, plus bread?!? Get out of here!
Everyone sure enjoys the green waffles enough said.
The jello arent bad either, multi layered each one a different color cant go wrong with that can we? not traditional american jello which is mush and can barely sustain itself these are agar based and it's texture is much more firm.
Next time you're ordering a green waffle TURN AROUND and try a jello, and get a coffee while you're at it, Starbucks is coffee for people who hate coffee i mean the ratio of coffee to sugar and flavorings is just staggering, THERE'S MORE SUGAR THEN THERE IS COFFEE burns your damn wallet just going there. after you got your waffle and the jello is at the counter being paid for, get a coffee now you're set for a restless night

*Disclaimer: I'm a dork....*
That being said, I decided to head over to the Grand Century Mall for dinner. After eating a delicious bowl of pho, I noticed Century Bakery right around the corner from the food court as I was about to leave. Time stopped for a second, then an imaginary light bulb turned on above my head.
Century Bakery for my 100th review!
*refer back to disclaimer now*
I just couldn't resist...sorry!
We ordered the green pandan-flavored waffles (think vanilla/almond-y for the flavor) and they weren't hot (since I don't think they were all that fresh...it was close to closing time). However, they were absolutely delicious!!! I love waffles, so these were a definite treat. I can't wait to go back on a busier day when they're cranking them out, production line style. Once I do, I'm sure this review will immediately change to 5 stars....
Until then, 100 cheers for their bright green waffles!

The green waffles here are the best! I usually stop by here after eating somewhere in the plaza. They aren't too sweet and perfect for rounding out my meal. I've tried some of the other pastries and they are alright, but you can't go wrong with the waffles.

I go here all the time for the Pandan Waffles.. aka "green waffles".
So I can only judge the place by that. I also got those jello things in the fridge. The ones with 4 small pieces. It's a bit more firm than ordinary jello and not as sweet. I guess I bought with my eyes because they look cool. But it wasn't anything special. There are several other types, but I don't know the names, but if you've tried them too, you know what I mean.
Back to the waffles, this is the spot for them. I think they should be cheaper though. The Q-cup over in Oakridge sells them for $1 each and was pretty satisfying. I guess when no one else around the area makes it, you can monopolize. They are good though. The staff has always been nice even though I'm not viet. Maybe one of these days I'll try something else.
when i was younger, i was dragged here constantly by my parents (vietnamese pride they are) since it was the only vietnamese mall in this area. i constantly sighed & dealt through the painful hours of walking relentlessly behind them as they entered each store, enjoying what it offered (which can last up to 20 minutes to my dismay), & then me leaving the store & sitting on the bench outside, waiting for them.
oh how i'm glad those days are gone.
but, after a long days of painful boredom, my mother always bought me a special little treat from this bakery, & you guessed it, it was the PANDAN GREEN WAFFLES! they taste so much better than other places, & i guess this treat was a gift from my mom for my patience. yayuh!
& you can't help but not leave this mall without one because since the bakery is right next to the entrance, you just can't escape the euphoric aroma that the green waffle gives off as you enter this mall.
this item is a MUST!

All I can say is, I drool every time I pass by this bakery :) I love bakeries.
I love Vietnamese pastries. The Century mall is so clean to start off with, so I enjoy coming here. The cream rolls, green waffles and boba coffee are what it is all about.
The BEST GREEN WAFFLES EVER!
It reminds of the Dr. Seuss book of "Green Eggs & Ham"
So here is my own version of it
Would you like some green eggs and waffles?
I do not like green eggs and waffles
Would you like them here or there?
I would not like them here or there.
I would not like them anywhere.
I do not like green eggs and waffles.
I do not like them
FINE THEN! Eats the green eggs and waffles myself!
*CHOMP* Mmmmms tasty delicious green waffles
The real "Green eggs & Ham" version can be found here. ( http://boe.berk.k12.wv... )
The green waffles are really great, they are fluffy on the inside w/ strands of coconut and its just a subtly sweet taste that is quite heavenly. I love the green waffles here, they cook it just right so that its not too raw or burnt. 1$ for a waffle straight up.

Their pandan waffles are freaking the best thing! It's a little daunting going into this mall especially you aren't Vietnamese, but, dude, it's worth it for these flavorful treats!
The funny thing is how they make them. It looks like that they went to the WalMart down the street and bought out all the low-cost waffle making machines, lined them up behind the counter, and churn out these bad boys one at a time. They're worth the drive down to that area. At $1 a pop it ain't that bad. If you buy 10 you get 1 free. I'm a sucker for a deal.

UPDATE 7/2

To get the full experience, I went there on a Sunday afternoon. It was hell. Also, given that I'm not Vietnamese, I found it hard to order as the lady seemed to ignore that I was a. taller than most of the people around me, and b. probably about 40 lbs heavier than most of them. Give me my damn green waffles, woman! Be forward if you go there on a weekend for the green waffles, and hold up your money like you're at a bar (a la "BARTENDER, GIVE ME A BEER!" ).

Hot. Green. Waffles.
Any shopping excursion through the Grand Century Mall should always include Century Bakery's crispy hot pandan-flavored (kinda like vanilla, kinda like coconut) waffles, made fresh to order. Not sure where to go? Just follow your nose.
(Note: I have yet to try anything else at this bakery, though I've always been intrigued by the artfully sculpted jello creations in the fridge.)

The service is so-so and especially harder for those non-Vietnamese speaking people.
I swear the lady at the counter tried to cheat me! She told me the cream puff was 75 cents when she told another lady right before me that it was 50 cents. She thought I couldn't understand Vietnamese. Grrrr!! Yes it is 25 cents difference but that just pissed me off.
BUT I sometimes like the DURIAN flavored cream puff. lol. My boyfriend's worst nightmare. He hates the smell and thinks it tastes like garbage/sewage..
The waffles smell sooo good! They taste equally as great and you can get them with ice cream too.
Everything is moderately cheap, definitely compared to high end type gourmet bakeries.
The jello is great! Not too sweet or artificial like American jellos. A light flavor. Usually coffee or that green leaf that is nice smelling...
The rest of the baked goods don't look so good to me though.
CASH ONLY!

Best Green Waffles when they are straight off of the waffle iron. When it's busy on weekends the waffles are pumped out one after another, sometimes the wait is as long as 10 minutes just to get a waffle! When they come off the iron and are piping hot most of the time they are crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Sometimes the ladies that serve them undercook them so they aren't as crispy. They're still good but not as good as they would be crispy.
There really is no line here because it's an Asian place, imagine you are at a crowded bar and have to get the attention of the bartender. You really have to stick your elbows into the crowd, shake your head or wave your hand at the waffle lady and make an order.
I remember before the bakery opened they just had about 10 waffle irons in front of the store with 5 gallon buckets on the green waffle mixture and constantly served waffles. Talk about making a killing on waffles. I haven't tried the other desserts and purely come here for the waffles.
I would give them a 5 for the waffles but sometimes you come when it's not busy and the waffles are only slighty warm and a little too soft. I'll be happy to wait 5 min for fresh waffles and give it a 5!

Best green waffles around. And yes, they are green all year long, not just for St Pat's. The downside is that it is located in a mall and parking during the weekends is tough. The other pastries are good as well, but the waffles are the reason I tend to make the visit.
