3777 Stevens Creek BlvdNot too bad if you need hardware fast, but I'll go to Fry's first because of their return policy and selection. Central isn't HORRIBLE, it's just not my first choice.

Watch the return policy here, it's tighter than anywhere else.
I just bought a processor that is incompatible. While it can be said that it is my mistake, if I had bought it from Fry's or newegg.com, I could return it.
But I bought it from Central Computer, so I'm out $160 plus tax.
Otherwise, they're nice people.
It's like Fry's, but with less fluff and more of what you REALLY want.
They ALWAYS have deals on HDDs. You just can't beat them for consistency of sales. No rebates...just good prices.
Then there's all the other cool stuff, like their music players, peripherals, computer cases, music gear....no coffee makers or vacuum cleaners here!
The store is relatively small, so it's easy to get around.
The staff is really attentive without bothering you.
It's possible to walk in and walk out with exactly what you need within 10 minutes. Try THAT at Fry's!
I've bought like 12 HDDs from them. I love these guys.
Update 03/07/08:
These guys rock, seriously. Where else can you geek out over the ASUS EEE PC? Not only do these guys sell it, but there were a few employees that were down to geek it up and talk shop about modding these little guys. Way cool.

Wow, I thought Fry's was nerdy...holy cow, this place is uber nerdy. I was sent here by a nerd friend to buy some new fangled wireless router that he was really amped about. Of course, I had to write everything down because I didn't know wtf I'd be asking for. Anyway, I go up to nerd SA and nerdily, I take out piece of paper with said router and show it to nerd SA. Nerd SA immediately knows what I need, and gets the box for me. Nerd SA rings up item, and I'm all done.
Nerds rule!

I was following around one of my co-workers because he needed some memory for one of his build it yourself computer Frankenstein projects. I have to admit there was a lot of shite they carried here and they were much friendlier and useful than Fry's. Now if they could just be more conveniently located...
I work in Sunnyvale and I am an I.T. person, so I work a lot with computers and what not. This is a really good place to buy any computer bits and gits you need. The prices are reasonable and you don't have to deal with a bunch of people walking around and being in your way, like you do at fry's.

This place is incredibly ghetto. I swear things are just placed anywhere without any planning. For example the ASUS products are placed in a random cabinet, which you cannot even touch and play around with. It seems that this store need some serious marketing help. Seems like a smaller Fry's, with less things.
This place rocks... Way better then Fry's. Often the prices are the same or less then Fry's. And the sales seem to go on for longer then Fry's. Way less crowed too! Me like Central Computer.
Wow, I can't believe the SERVICE I recieved from central computers. I bought a motherboard from their retail store. It just did not work at a stable condition with my set up, so I tried to return a motherboard to their store. THEY WOULD NOT LET ME RETURN the product.
The motherboard just did not work with my setup, so I attempted to returned the motherboard. They accused me of damaging the motherboard itself, so they gave me two options:
1. Keep the piece of crap motherboard that only Central Computers carries.
2. Try to contact ASUS to fix the motherboard.
3. Pay Central $45 so they can get it fixed, giving me the difference of the amount.
So instead of getting my refund with a 15% restocking fee reduction, I HAD TO PAY 45$ for them for repairs. What a load of crap. Bunch of bs. They just lost all my future business and I will make sure to let others know.
-limited selection of products
-crap customer service
-horrible return policy
** DO NOT LET THEIR PRICES TEMPT YOU, if anything goes wrong with the product, you will not have a good time returning it!!***

a great computer place without the fry's or best buy hassle. i brought a PC i put together a few years ago and they fixed the problem in no time. they are straightforward and honest - they wont try to trick you into buying more equipment that you dont need. the employees are helpful with any questions you have and wont make you feel stupid for not being up to date with the technological mumbo jumbo. they dont have all the products you would see at fry's or whatnot, but they do carry the newest and best items.
it's a bittersweet feeling coming here...im glad that i can trust these people with my computer, but it's disappointing that my computer is sick.

I've never used the repair service here, but just about every PC that I have built has had the majority of it's guts come from Central. Prices are good and component selection is great. I don't think I've bought a processor or motherboard anywhere else in the last 10 years.
When I build my army of robots that I shall use to take over the world, a lot of the parts in the prototype will come from Central. That's the evil genius stamp of approval.
As others have said, you can get much better prices than Fry's, and their stuff hasn't been returned and repackaged like Fry's either. You can get slightly better prices online, but I don't bother unless they don't have what I need, it's close enough.
Staff at this store is pretty friendly, and you can be assured that when you ask for specifics between two motherboards, they can answer your question confidently and clearly.
The sole reason why logging onto World of Warcraft is the first and last thing that I do everyday....
My gaming computer from Central!
I always buy my components online to get the best price, but when I need something RIGHT NOW, I'd skip Fry's and come to Central. The people that work there actually knows what they are talking about.
What a find! Generally knowledgable staff, a wide selection if parts, GREAT (for retail) prices, ample parking; what more could you ask? Granted it doesn't carry the volume that Fry's does, but it has what you need at prices usually less than full retail. If I needed to replace a hard drive or keyboard or CPU fast and didn't want to wait for mail order, this is the only place I'd go.
Oh, I have picked up a number of interesting gadgets here, such as a brightly lit 5" cooling fan for an ego machine. Computer cases, cables, and parts galore. Mostly 20% cheaper than Fry's and such. Pick up your ASUS mommy bird here.
I use this place all the time. They're not as flexible in their returns as places like Fry's, but you get better prices, and the ability to buy something new, and not something that's been returned 5 times. (I loathe the "returned" stickers on nearly all the stuff at Fry's.)
They get the newest components quickly, and their staff actually has a brain when you ask them questions.
They're more of a specialty store than some other places, but they're worth going to if you need quality components.

Probably the best place for day to day computer parts shopping in the Bay Area. Their salespeople generally know what they are talking about (a HUGE plus!) and their prices are generally very reasonable when compared with other stores. If you are a fan of Asus products, then this is the best place to go since they seem to stock just about everything Asus has ever made. One major plus in my opinion - their prices on cables of all kinds are TOP NOTCH! No one beats Central Computer on cable prices of any kind.
My only complaint about Central Computer is their hours. They close to early on weekdays and even earlier on weekends. Where oh where is the 24/7 computer store?
I've bought a build-your-own-PC, a laptop and a big monitor from Central Computer and some parts like hard drives and fans etc. I've been happy with my purchases and their prices are good. This place is kind of like the anti-Fry's... they don't have a huge selection of anything-under-the-sun-that' s-even-slightly-re lated-to-electronics, but they do carry a decent selection of the things you would need if you're buying / building / fixing / upgrading a computer. Their employees are helpful and actually know things about what they're selling, but they're not pushy at all and you don't get hounded by some random salesperson trying to write up your hard drive as a custom order so they can get a commission on it. and they don't have stickers on 60% of their merchandise that indicates it's been returned and re-shrink-wrapped. Don't get me wrong, sometimes you just gotta go to Fry's... but I'm glad there's an alternative.

I think this is the best place to get computer stuff in the Bay Area. They are pretty big but not as big as Fry's and Best Buy, but they specialize in all computer stuff. I like this place because it is an independent and not all corporate so the people are a little more friendly and knowleagable. Most stuff is cheaper here also.
