Central Coast Trolley Company
3 reviews for Central Coast Trolley Company
The last thing that you want to do when going wine tasting is make someone be the designated driver and miss out on the experience. I took a bunch of people up to Cambria for my wife's birthday and planned to take everyone wine tasting. I found Central Coast Trolley and spoke with the owner Patti, to plan out a nice 4 hour loop of wineries. She was so helpful with picking locations and making suggestions. She actually has acreage with grapes that she sells to wineries, which means she knows people that you want to know and that comes in handy.
I arranged for a van (not the trolly) to drive my party around to a handful of wineries and at each stop Patti gave us some great information and told us little secrets. When we would go inside most of the staffs knew her, so my party got just a little special treatment. At one winery, the owner gave us a bottle of his private stock, not labeled, just for his drinking. Cool.
The kicker was that Patti knew of a local olive oil company that was in the middle of their harvest. From what we were told, this only happens for a few weeks out of the year, so we took her suggestion to visit. The place was off the beaten path, but she arranged for us to get a tour where we went back and got to see the olives being pressed and ground down for their various olive products - oil, beauty products, etc.
That was really an experience that we would have missed out on if not for Patti and her tour. And it was a great location to take some pretty cool photos.
It was just great to find this service and have it play out so well.

Do not use this company for a wine tour! I reserved two spots on their Paso Robles trolley a month ahead of time. I didn't hear back from them after leaving several messages on their voice mail a couple of days before the scheduled tour. My husband and I waited for them to pick us up at our hotel, and they didn't show up! Thank goodness the hotel was able to book us spots on another tour with another company (Grapeline, which was fabulous by the way) last minute. Though it worked out for us, I never heard anything back from Central Coast Trolley, and would never recommend such an unprofessional company to anyone.

If you want to visit the wineries of the San Luis Obispo or Paso Robles areas, you can forget the need for a designated driver by booking a five-hour tour in an enclosed, air-conditioned/heated, motorized San Francisco-style cable car through this company. The $65 per person price tag includes visits to several vintners, lunch in a restaurant or a vineyard picnic including a variety of sandwiches and salads, unlimited bottled water and snacks, and a bottle of wine to take with you. There's ongoing commentary enroute. Advance reservations are required; call 1-800-992-9633 toll-free. The area provides lots of scenic photo ops, so be sure to bring a camera.
