This is Adam, owner of CCR in Santa Cruz. We just finished up our first year in business and it's been the fastest, craziest year of my life! It's my goal to simply get you what you need to find success in whatever you do. If we don't have it, let us know and we'll get it. If we're out of it, we'll get more of it.
Of course we're not perfect, but everyone that works at CCR is committed to helping the wonderful running, walking, and triathlon community in Santa Cruz. What we like most is sharing stories and offering advice. Stop in and find out what a fun place CCR is to be a part of.
I love this place! They are super friendly and they know their stuff. This is hands down, the best place to buy running shoes in Santa Cruz. They do that thing where they make you put on the shoes and run, while they watch for the arch in your foot and whatnot, guaranteeing that you get the right shoe for you! I love my shoes that I bought from them, and I got a 20% discount for being a student!
Because of them, I can run super fast and super long. Okay, not really, but at least my knees don't hurt anymore!
They also have running clothes and other props, and they have a lot of great information on races and running clubs, etc.
Adam and the Central Coast Running crew is awesome. They are great supporters of Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training in Santa Cruz - and running in general.
Thanks Adam for investing in the Cruz.
We stopped by with our coupon after the Firecracker 10k race in July. Even though they were supposed to be closed, they kept the store open while we browsed. The Otter talked shoes and found them to be very helpful and knowledgeable.
Good selection and super-friendly. Don't be intimidated by their lithesome runners bodies, ask for advice.
UPDATE (5/6/08): I had previously complained on my review about The Otter trying to return some defective shorts. The owner PM'd me, apologized for the mix-up and even sent his cell phone number. Wow! Back to a five-star review for CCR!
I went here based on another Yelp review, and I'm glad I did. The staff are all friendly and helpful; they let me order a pair of shoes in my size to compare against some others, and let me have the Wharf-to-Wharf 20% discount that had been in effect when I first visited, even though I ended up buying the things two weeks later.
If you're buying fancy running shoes (Asics, Brooks, and Mizunos seem to be their main brands) then this place is definitely worth considering.
Old school...all the way. Remember service..remember when you used to shop for shoes with your mom and they actually sized you and helped you get what you needed and stood behind what they sold you. If you do then go to CCR.
I even send my clients there because they have it and will help you find it.
This place is great! Its staff of young runners and its super-knowledgeable and friendly owner, Adam, will answer any running related question you have. If you want some serious personal attention that bigger chain stores can't offer you should stop by the store and see what it's about! Aside from it's great customer service, I was impressed by the wide selection of apparel and running accessories in the store. I got a flashing light for my bike and Luna bars for way cheaper than most stores offer. I also purchased some practical Asics winter gear that has helped me get through my freezing morning runs.
During my checkout, I was delighted to learn that Central Coast Running is starting up group runs from local spots like the lighthouse on Westcliff and Nisene Marks park! What would be greater than joining a group of cool and experienced runners a couple of times a week? I would strongly recommend coming into this store. This place will lighten your day :)
