We could not be happier with Central Bark! Our dog goes once or twice a week and absolutely LOVES it! We toured 3 different day cares before deciding on Central Bark as it was heads and tails above the rest. From the very first day we came in Bonnie has been beyond friendly, extremely helpful and shows such love to our dog. The facilities are great, and very clean, as well. Drop-off and pick-up times are very convenient and the loading zone out front is a huge bonus. To top it off, they carry food, treats, toys and accessories, making them a perfect one-stop shop. We love Central Bark and our dog loves it even more! We wouldn't dream of taking him anywhere else.

I meant to write a review for Central Bark a year ago and never got around to it.  Ladies are nice and helpful HOWEVER when I called to let them know that my puppy had the flu and spread it to my older dog, they were very non-chalant and were insistent that he didn't get it from there.  Which is not the case because the only place he ever went besides our backyard, was to Central Bark.  The older dog didn't go anywhere except our house/yard.  So yes, he did get the flu from your establishment.  Which is NOT a problem. It happens...BUT the lack of concern, no calls to check on him (when he used to come once sometimes twice per week) was most unprofessional and not impressive.  I really wanted to like them.  We are a better fit at a different type of establishment...

I take my pup to the Animal Sense training at Central Bark's facility.  I've met the owner and some of her staff, they seem caring with a genuine love for dogs!  The facility is always clean, well taken care of, and they seem to have a nice selection of treats and gear for all dogs.

Next time we go out of town, our baby will be in good hands at Central Bark!

My girlfriend took her Samoyed here for a deskunking and groom. (haha on the skunking)
Anyhow, the groomer was very knowledgeable and helped her decide the proper way to trim him down for the heat.
Her pooch, Samson, came back fresh and with a beautiful groom.  He looked like a slimmer and very neat, brand new dog.
    We will go here again.

Prices were par for the groom and nails.

I was really impressed with the place overall and how friendly and understanding Bonnie was.
Unfortunately, my dog did not pass the test and was unable to stay.
If things would have been different I would have definitely planned on using Central Bark.

Bonnie and all her staff really care about the dogs that are in day care.
The place is spotless, the dogs all seem to be having fun, and the caretakers actually watch them and interact. Great place!

We wouldn't take our dog anywhere else in Chicago!!! Bonnie has been so accommodating with our schedule and our mutt always comes home happy and tired. We think that if he could stay here round-the-clock, he probably would. The staff also takes photos of the dogs playing and creates a new album every month on their website so all the owners can see their dogs playing with everyone else! It's fun to see who our dog hangs out with.

Our dog is easy to bath, so we haven't used these services, but CB trims his nails occasionally and they do a great job, for a reasonable price. There is also a nice selection of high-quality dog toys, treats, and dog food.

    Thanks Central Bark!!!

We were pleased with the level of professionalism and the attention to detail that this facility provided for our dog.  We recently moved to the city and needed to locate a new kennel for boarding our hyper and neurotic German Shepherd; Bonnie and her staff were more than welcoming and seemed to go the extra mile to ensure that our dog was comfortable.  We are relieved to have found a new place to kennel our dog, since our regular place unexpectedly closed.

Full disclosure: Bonnie, the owner, is a yelp friend, and we had bonded over our mutual love of dogs. I went here today with my two dogs to meet her two for a play date.

It's a fantastic facility! Plenty of indoor and outdoor space for dogs to romp and exercise. It's very clean with no obvious doggy smell. The best thing about it is that you can tell how passionate Bonnie is about dogs and their well-being. She truly cares about animals and it shows in every aspect of her business - from the people that work there, to how much the dogs love her.

Four paws up for Central Bark!

After a negative incident with our old groomer, we decided to look for a new place to take our Yorkie for grooming.  Central Bark had such good feedback, we gave them a shot and we're glad we did.
Although this place seems does more than just grooming, we've only used them for grooming so this review only reflects that aspect.  We've used Central Bark twice now and they do a really good job.  Our Yorkie is very sensitive about having his paws/legs touched so trimming his nails can be a chore--to the point where our last groomer would not trim his nails half the time or do a bad job.  At CB, trimming his nails has not been an issue.  Also, he didn't act weird or reserved on our second trip so it looks like he doesn't fear this place.
Grooming time has taken a couple hours, which is very acceptable--even quick by some standards.  Pricing is higher than our last groomer but only by a bit and if our Yorkie is happier, it's definitely worth it.
We look forward to returning again for future groomings and maybe even consider them for boarding when we need to travel out of state.

The staff is extremely friendly with both customers and dogs.  From what I saw the facilities are amazing and state-of-the-art.  I never really asked the prices, and I couldn't really say what I paid, b/c I bought some treats for my yellow furball at the same time.  The total came to about 60, so it couldn't have been all that bad considering the doggy treats I bought.  I did like that they took my concerns very seriously.  Lucky, my slightly psychotic lab, has small issues with things, but I'm aware of what they are.  So, I attempted to warn the groomer of these little quirks and she listened and Lucky didn't freak out on her and all was good.

The only bad thing was is they didn't blow dry him completely, cause he didn't like it, but that also meant they didn't get as much fur from his undercoat as I had liked.  I'll have to give them one more try, but for now 4 stars.

Central Bark is awesome!!! I adopted a very odorifous, matted pup over Memorial Day weekend, and he needed grooming like no one's business!! Everyone in the city was booked. I thought I'd give Central Bark a try based on the Yelp reviews. As it turned out, the reviews were well-earned.

I spoke with Bonnie on the phone and explained the situation. Initially, she didn't think she had any availability, but she took my number and aksed to call me back. Within ten minutes she called and said she spoke with her groomer, and he agreed to do a late afternoon appointment for us. Wonderful!!

When I arrived for the appointment, Bonnie and the groomer (George??) were very friendly and handled my pooch very well.  I got a phone call 15 mintues before he was done, and when I arrived he was all done! He was beautifully groomed, smelling great, and very happy!!

Thank you, Bonnie! I would definitely recommend this business.

I've never had my little angel groomed before but with the changing weather she was in bad shape and needed something quick!  I picked Central Bark from the many positive yelp reviews, and couldn't be happier.
From the moment I called for an appointment until I picked up my sweetly scented, shiny dog, everything was perfect!  The owner is extremely friendly and the groomer took the time to listen to what I wanted and explained what was best for my girl's fur type.  She's never looked or smelled better and was completely happy when I picked her up.

**This is a modification to my previous review**

    Initially I gave two stars.

    Here is the first review:
I REALLY wanted to like this place!!  It is close to me and convenient!!  I was pretty excited to try it out.  I just wish I had been given the chance!

Upon looking at their site, I noticed there were no rates for the dog daycare service.  After explaining my situation, via e-mail (dog new to day care, would like him to possibly attend once a week and become acclimated to the environment before we go on a trip), I received a disappointing one sentence reply simply asking me whether or not I would be bringing him once in a while or once a week before my trip.  That was it!! No details!!  It was completely unprofessional and transparent.  It wasn't even signed by anyone.  After reading some of the reviews on here, I really expected more of detailed reply versus a typical "are you going to spend money here or not" kind of question.

Okay, so after this e-mail I decided to remain positive and be even MORE specific even though I thought it was obvious I was highly considering the once a week option.  I asked about both rates anyway, just in case - once in a while and once a week.  Again, I receive a one sentence response.  This is the exact response, "Hi Gabi, we have a one day per week requirement and the rate is $27.00 per day...." These two responses have been the kind of responses that one would visualize comes from a sad and unamused face.  Notice the ellipsis?!?!  Hmm, am I supposed to guess what comes after this sentence??  Okay so now it's a REQUIREMENT to bring my dog in once a week.  That is fine!! That's what I want to do anyway!!  Okay, so the effort continues... in a THIRD e-mail... I asked for MORE details (is there a contract, hourly length of day care stay, etc).   This was a day ago.  Honestly, this seems like too much effort to get a simple rate and some basic information!!  I will wait to see what response I get and maybe my review for this place will change.  Until then,  canine social club is looking good.... and I already know their rates!!! IT'S ON THEIR SITE!!!

To be fair, overall, I guess I could have called.  Yet, this e-mail experience does make me wonder about the true essence of this company.  This experience could have definitely been A LOT simpler!

Here is my response to Bonnie's comment below:

It seems like you are stating everything I would have liked to initially hear before spending so much time searching for answers.  On top of that, you seem to have exaggerated what I said!  Okay, so I did not initially find the rates on the website!!  My apologies!! I was REALLY hoping this whole time I had not been in correspondence with the same Bonnie that I see has received so many positive reviews.  It gives me the impression you are putting on a persuasive face to many of your clients?  Well, Bonnie, I LOVE loving places, people, and products.  You have made that hard in regards to Central Bark!  I have not written a bad review until now!  Bonnie, my dog is not a complete anti-social canine!! I was attempting to be as detailed as possible with you in order to see what can be worked out!! I really expected more professionalism.  To state that your facility is not suitable for my dog (via Yelp) without even meeting him is ridiculous. I feel discriminated against.  After reading my initial review, perhaps it was not evident to you that I was open to changing my mind in regards to my initial impression.  Now, since I am obviously not welcome, I am even more turned off by the integrity of the establishment you are running.  The impression I have now is that you have enough customers to keep you running.  So why be nice to clients you don't like for some reason?  Farewell Central Bark!

    This place is fantastic!

Bonnie the owner is extremely nice and accommodating. She really takes times to get to know you and your dog(s). She has really done a great job with the layout and decoration as well. There is an indoor and outdoor play area for your dogs while visiting and on hot days even a baby pool outside for those dogs who love to splash in water! The place is clean and bright. There are grooming services and a pet taxi here as well. The boutique has great foods, treats and toys!

My Boston Terriers attended a Boston meet up group here and they just LOVED it! Highly recommended for meetups if you are planning one. Want to plan a birthday party of your dog? They have the attractive packages for that as well!

A+ for Bonnie and her facility!

The staff here are so friendly, helpful and very attentive.  The times I have called to make grooming appointments and have gotten voicemail....I get a call back right away.  Bonnie has also been accomodating when I've had to drop of Duke early to an appointment.

My 4 legged friend is on the shy side since he was rescued from a puppy mill. When it came to handing over my dog, the groomer did a fantastic job of helping us start right in his new home.  She offered to clean his teeth and ears, which normally would have been extra, but she wanted to make sure he had a good start in his furever home. I was so appreciative of such a kind gesture.

The only thing I wish they'd do is give doggies a bandana after a grooming.  ;P   My brother takes his dogs elsewhere and they simply look adorable with their clean coats and neck accessory.  :)

Bonnie is a very kind and generous person who invited a group of yelpers to use her space for a pup socializing event. FREE OF CHARGE.
    Beat that if you can.

The space is terrific. There are three, divided areas for dog frolicking, and one can oversee them all at the same time. It is clean and appears to carry many items doggies want and owners need. Grooming and boarding services here as well.

    Thanks again Bonnie!

I cannot say enough about how great Central Bark is! I found Central Bark while searching Yelp for a dog groomer. The groomer I had been going to faithfully in Glenview for 3 years was completely booked one weekend and I was desperate. My dog was beginning to look like a ticked off Ewok. I phoned Central Bark, left a message and received a phone call the next morning. Bonnie said she had a few spots open on Saturday and Lola fit right in. Saturday came and I immediately fell in love with Central Bark as soon as I walked in. Bonnie is the most kindhearted, gentle woman I've ever met. She is caring and considerate and has got to be an Angel in disguise. I met with their groomer, George, who scooped Lola up right away and made her feel comfortable. I was surprised to receive a call just a few hours later letting me know that Lola would be ready soon.

When I arrived, Lola looked amazing and so very happy! She pranced around the front of Central Bark like she too owned the place! I grabbed some fliers on the way out with information about daycare. Never having thought about doggy daycare before, I entertained the idea that it might be good for Lola to have a few play dates instead of trying to chest bump the cats at home, who want nothing to do with her. I called Bonnie the following Monday and set up time for Lola to come over. After her first day, I KNEW I had made a great choice in Central Bark for both grooming AND day care!! Lola now goes twice a week and is completely DRAINED on the drive home. The cats are happy, Lola is content and there's no better feeling.

Bonnie and her staff have always been most accommodating and pleasant. I feel great knowing Lola is happy and spending the day with such a great group of people who treat her like their own. You won't find a place better than Central Bark. Anywhere.

I love Central Bark. My friend suggested it as his dog use to go here, and I can't say enough good things about the experience I've had so far.
Mojo takes the Canine Cab every Monday to daycare, and they bring him home at night. I know he loves it because Monday morning when Mandy knocks on the door to come get him he goes berserk. He makes noises of excitement and ecstasy I had never heard from him before he started daycare, and he was already 6 years old when he started at Central Bark! I know he plays hard because when I come in the door Monday night, he wags his tail from the bed, but is too exhausted to actually get up and greet me. His demeanor is better and he seems happier since starting daycare. It makes a big difference in a doggie's life to have friends and activities! The price is VERY reasonable, especially when you compare the actual love and care your pet is receiving. It's awesome because they have grooming on site too which is so convenient for someone like me who doesn't have a car. I think their grooming rates are actually lower than most places I've gone, and I know they aren't mistreating him, which I've had problems with in the past due to how difficult he gets during nail clippings. The owner Bonnie is really nice and you really get the feeling that those dogs are her dogs too. This is important when you think of your pet as more of a child. And if that's the kind of care you want then I would recommend you go here. I never have to worry that Mojo's day is short on compliments and kisses when he's at Central Bark.

Our puppies can not wait to go to daycare. They cry in the car since they can't wait to get there and then they don't want to leave at the end of the day. It is so cute! They love it there so much.

I have never been more confident with leaving my puppies for overnight stays too. I have total peace of mind!

I was impressed by the many positive reviews for Central Bark so I decided  to bring in my cockapoo puppy for grooming. I was even more impressed after I went to pick up my puppy and saw that they were able to give her an even haircut. My dog is a super excited and a super squirmy puppy and I honestly could not believe how Wendy, the groomer, did it. My dog also had her ears cleaned, her nails trimmed and filed, and her sanitary all trimmed out. I dropped her off early morning and within about two hours, she was ready for pick-up. The only thing is that when I brought her the second time, I'm not sure if her ears were cleaned and that her nails were not trimmed as smooth as the first time. Also, I'm not sure about her glands being expressed as I didn't ask and I don't remember them mentioning it. But I can always specify those things on our next visits. Their location is great and they have a loading zone in front for quick drop-off and pick-up. Overall, they give excellent grooming service and if I would need to leave my dog for any reason, I will consider using their pet boarding service.

I was blown away by how friendly the staff were, and the awesome job they did grooming our Lhasa/terrier. Grooming prices were much more reasonable than chain pet stores, and the appointment took a third of the time! We dropped the dog off at 8 am and they called us when they were done at 9. The staff loved the dog, and the dog came back clean and happy. We will definitely be back here.

Unfortunately, my time with Central Bark Grooming was short-lived. It really kills me to write this but I can't avoid it because it is unpleasant. Bonnie is amazing, and I'm sure the boarding and training service is great based on the staff and what I've seen of the building. However, the grooming didn't work out for my Yorkie or Shih Tzu.
Let's start with the good. It's a great location on Pulaski just North of Milwaukee. They have the street in front designated as a 15 minute zone so you can throw on your flashers on and run in. Every time I've been there I was able to do exactly that. The facility is clean, doesn't stink, isn't sticky and has lots of open room for the dogs with access to an outside area. Bonnie is the nicest person in the world and genuinely cares about your dogs. My dogs were never scared going there. Even when we got inside they were excited, not scared. That's always a good sign. I was happy with the look of the cuts and the dogs were super cute. They smelled nice and felt soft. They are there for a couple hours, not all day, which is very nice.
Now the unpleasant. I had an issue with the dogs needing to go to the vet after grooming for anal expresses, a shot of Prednisone, and eye drops for an eye irritation, over the course of 3 trips there. The last time there Bonnie got the groomer (Wendy, I believe) and I spoke with her before the grooming. I relayed the previous issues, gave special instructions this time, and even brought in the special allergy shampoo my vet recommended hoping this would help prevent anything else. Unfortunately, it did not. They had to go back to the vet.
I called Bonnie to let her know what happened. She was very receptive and asked intelligent questions to try to pinpoint the cause of the problem. She also asked if I would like to speak with the groomer. I declined and let her know I wouldn't be taking them there anymore. Even then, she was very gracious and sincere. There was no hostility at any time. I feel so bad having to write this because she's been so nice and helpful, even when I had to reschedule an appointment the day before.
I'd like to clarify that THIS IS A REVIEW OF ONLY THE GROOMING, not the boarding service. I have not used that service and this review in no way reflects on the quality of it. I really am sad I can't take the dogs there anymore. I wish Central Bark the best of luck and have no hard feelings.

Central Bark is fantastic! Our golden retriever has gone there every week for the past year and a half. It is his favorite place in the whole world. I literally never see him as excited as he is when we walk in the door.

We also board him there from time to time and he doesn't seem to mind because they give them so much play time.

The staff is really nice and accommodating. They have nice surprises from time to time like Doggy report cards and even free baths. They keep the place really clean. I never worry about him picking up a bug and bringing it home.

I'd recommend Central Bark without hesitation and have already referred a few friends there.

I need to review this place, because I found them through YELP and I want others to know that YELP has not led me astray. The women here were absolutely wonderful. We have a long-haired miniature dachshund, Helga, who needed a haircut desperately after running around in the forest at grandma's house. Upon arrival, we met a hispanically-named chihuahua, and our groomer. She was entirely enthusiastic, examining Helga for a while before offering to scale Helga's teeth while she was at it! I was thrilled. I figured she was going to offer to brush her teeth, not perform dental maintenance. Whatever the case, Helga was ready to be picked up 90 minutes later, but I was stuck at work. They kept her for 4 hours, all together, without even a peep of objection. Helga looked great and seemed quite happy when I returned. I don't have enough praise for these ladies!

This is an AMAZING facility!! I love taking my dog Chuy there. Bonnie is very flexible as to when I can bring him, and very accomodating! She and her staff make my puppy feel very at home and welcome. I was quite impressed with how clean the place was when I took the initial tour. (You didn't think I'd leave my baby just anywhere without checking it out first, did you?) If I didn't know there were dogs there, you'd never be able to tell-it smelled SO good in there!!! They also do the cutest thing for naptime..... they dim the lights, give the pups aromatherapy all while listening to classical music!!!! Awwww!!! I mean, come on, how could anyone not LOVE that?!?!?!

Well, I really want to give five stars, but I can't do so as I have not used this place except for grooming of my cat. Bonnie was very friendly and George did a good job of grooming my cat with a lion cut. She never had one before as usually I take my cat to sit, but they were booked for a couple of months. I am not too fan of the lion cut on my cat and wish George could of done a trim instead the guy at Sit does, but he did do an excellent job of the lion cut. The look just isn't for me looking at my cat. If my cat didn't have so many clumps I think she would of turned out perfect.

This place is by far the best grooming place in the city.  I brought my precious Pomeranian for a grooming service and was very impress with the greeting, the professionalism of the groomer, and the detailed questions on how my dog will look.  He did an amazing job.  After a short conversation with Bonnie after picking Mango, she enlightened me about her groomer, and he happens to be the only groomer and does and astonishing job with all types of dogs.  I highly recommend this place to any one who wants a detailed job for their pet.

we adopted logan about three weeks ago and she was smelling like straight ass. so i called Central Bark and they agreed to see her the next day. I messed up and forgot to set my clock an hour ahead, but Bonnie and staff were really great and saw Logan anyway. My other dog used to go to Petsmart for grooming and would be so depressed after his experience that I decided to never put another pet through that again.

Logan was not only happy, but they listened to me and held off on the perfume and nail clipping as I requested, most places conveniently forget requests like these but not Central Bark.

Logan will be attending daycare here in a couple of weeks, and I am excited for her.

My new puppy went in today for her first grooming experience. She came out smelling good and looked like a cute little bear.. George explained what he was going to do to her and was very careful in handling her and it was obvious that my little girl received a lot of attention and love. I was very pleased with her experience, and the price was affordable although I didn't get a full haircut for her. I found this place through Yelp and I had to create an account today and leave a review because I recommend this place as well.

I've been to a few groomers with my little fur baby and I've never been quite satisfied until I found this cute little place.  It's nice on the inside and doesn't reek of dogs, which we may love them...but they don't always smell the best so it was nice.  The groomer was a sweetheart as well as the owner, whom I believe is a vegetarian (which probably only matters to me).  They also have doggy treats that I had the urge to eat based on how delicious they looked!  I'll definitely keep coming back to this place for as long as I live anywhere near it.

I get my dog groomed here- Love them! My dog is old, and of course we believe she is the best, sweetest, most amazing dog in the world:) Anyway, she's got some issues (can't do crates, freaks about her nails, etc...) Bonnie and the grooming staff are awesome, completely accommodating and really sweet w/her. She always comes out looking and smelling pretty- and best of all, not freaking out- like she has at many other grooming spots...definitely a good sign.

The facility is clean and tidy, and a good set-up.  I liked that when you walk in you can see a window through to the play areas and see the groups of dogs playing and having a good time.  The storefront had different premium foods for sale as well as treats and cute collars.  The owner is dedicated and knowledgeable.

I brought in my 5 month old Yorkie for her first grooming experience to Central Bark and was extremely pleased with the experiance and price. I couldn't cut my puppys nails because she was extremely difficult to handle. When we got to the store I described what I wanted and the groomer told me exactly what he would do. We were told it would take 3 to 3 and a half hours and I could get a call about 15/20 minutes before they are done with her. Almost to the minute 3 hours and 10 minutes after drop off Bonnie called to tell us Chanel was almost ready. We went to pick her up and she was soo soft. The haircut looked great, her hair was soft and smelled wonderful for about a week. I particularly liked the way they shaved her belly and trimmed her paws. Very friendly staff, nice and clean facility.
