For the price you can't beat this place. It's only $40 for an hour. I often go whole hog and do 2 hours for $80. I love that it's affordable pampering. They are not open regular hours so call in advance to grab a spot. I find that often they have cancellations so you can call day of to grab a slot.
I have been several times over the years. I have a good time each time, though some times are fantastic. It's a school so don't expect the same service each time. Be flexible. I believe though that some people have natural technique so you often get folks who are really good.
It's located in a business building but I feel the students and staff try to make it feel like a relaxing experience. A high end spa is more comfy, cozy and personal but the price at those locations is double so I'll take the noise and less frills for the price.
When you are a looking for a gentle rub down and a deep tissue work out then hit up the massage area. You'll get undressed to your comfort level. The tables are your standard massage tables, each table is separate by a medical style curtain so you do hear the neighbors occasionally. The students are very professional.
They now offer some spa services, such as mud rubs, exfoliating, and herbal wraps. I tried one recently. It was ok, not my favorite. But a neat experience. You lay on the standard bed but a foil sheet is between you and the bed. I was exfoliated first then, rubbed with scented mud (I asked for the oiil to be added- mint- very relaxing). After I was rubbed down with mud I was wrapped in a foil. While I sat in the mud he rubbed my head and feet. Then when the timer went off he took warm damp towels and wiped off the mud. Then proceeded to massage me almost like a regular half hour massage. It was his first time so he missed a few steps and such but overall a unique experience I would recommend.
The shiatsu is fully clothed. It's really interactive. They stretch, pull, and bend you while they rub and push in all your sore spots. If I'm really tense or have a sports injury I prefer the shiatsu.
Overall a great spot for a fantastic price.
Be forewarned- it's by the U so - parking is a pain in the butt. You have to pay the lot next door $4 an hour or more, or wander to find a spot around the block.
Well worth it.
Got an hour massage for Kristi last weekend. $40, but if you're a first time client they throw you a $5 coupon. Masseuses are students at the U who are getting their clinic hours, so you cannot tip them, therefore you're maxing out at $40 for an hour. Can't beat it.
Kristi was very happy and came out looking well relaxed.
Guys, want to do something nice for your girl?
Girls, want to treat yourselves?
Look no further.
When's the last time you got that much pleasure for 65cents a minute? Wait, don't answer that...
I have gone to Centerpoint twice, and am glad I waited until my second visit to write a review. Not that my first massage was bad - you see, because it is a school - the rooms are more like hospital rooms, one large room with sections curtained off. Which is fine if other patrons are courteous and speak softly. My first experience had two grown men moaning rather loudly around me their ENTIRE massage. I couldn't stop giggling. The second time I went back all was great. The massage and the atmosphere.
You may feel a bit apprehensive to strip-down as it is a large room, but I did not have any issues.
I received a one hour shiatsu massage as a gift from my son. I have fever had this kind of massage but I absolutely loved it! The facilityis in the old Marshall University High building in Dinkytown. There is ample parkind in two adjacent lots but if you're looking for street parking it is hard to find when the U of M is in session. The massages are given by students and Gabby did an excellent job! Very professional and her technique was great. I think that this may become an addiction! The stretching made me feel great and my body is very happy!
I am a girl who likes to be touched. I am not afraid to admit it. I am also a girl who isn't afraid to pay for someone to touch her. There is no shame in my game. It's how I roll.
And when I want to be touched and am willing to pay, I usually roll on over to Centerpoint Massage and Shiatsu School. Love them!
Massages and Shiatsu are 35 dollars for an hour. They are preformed by students, but by the time the student is in clinic they are more or less done with schooling and are picking up their client hours. And there are some fantastic students that come out of Centerpoint.
Appointments are needed, and students usually see clients Friday nights and all day on Saturday.
For 35 dollars you cant wrong. And if you have never tried a Shiatsu, get one there. A. MAZ. ING.
Bottom Line: Centerpoint Rubs me the right way.
