This place has seriously good cemitas.  We had the pork Milanesa and everything was so perfect about it:  hearty buns that didn't fall apart, thin pork that was perfectly breaded and fried (not a drop of residual oil detected), fantastic house-made chipotle sauce, the addition of summer cilantro, etc.  My only criticism is that their horchata was a little thin, both in consistency and flavor.  And the Negra Modelo wasn't perfectly fresh.

Shock of the day:  they're open until 4 in the morning from Thursdays to Saturdays!

Ok so my fiancé and I came here after he heard about it on Lopez Tonite, so we thought that it was going to be omg so good. It wasn't. I guess maybe because my fiancé is from Oaxaca I really know what good oaxacan food taste like, unfortunatly this food was just ok ;(. I was expecting the tlayudas to be out of this world since George lopez gave such great reviews. I'm  on a diet and I thought oow a cheat day, I wish I would had opted for a different option instead, this was a waist of my calories ;(. I gave it 2 1/2 for the nice service that was provided.

Wrote about this place way before J. Gold had his say on the EXACT same things.  No chapulines on Michelada, that haunting, earthy taste are Gusanos de Maguey (Maguey Larvae) and that almost savory taste of it is Worcestershire sauce

Seriously, it's actually the newest naughtiest food child of the same family who brought the L.A standard Guelaquetza restaurants. This place is perhaps the only restaurant positive of making even the most pizza/flaming hot cheetoes-esque of my old East L.A Garfield High School homies become even the most diligent of austere foodies.

It's a concept that Lopez and her father Fernando Lopez brought to life after a recent trek to Puebla and discovering the delicate beauty of their street staple, a Cemita Poblana, the omnipresent sandwich of Puebla. Freshly baked, dense, rustic roll dusted with Ajonjoli (Sesame Seeds) and made with the legit stuff, not Crisco...yeah, you know what I'm talking about. Seethed with Milanesa, Quesillo, Queso Panela, Avocado, Chipotle, and the ever acquired taste of Papalo, an herb that smells like if a really thirsty deer just walked on top of it....

Jonathon Gold is THE Food God, he has never steered me wrong and once again he has hit the jackpot here. Read Javier's review for the intricacies of the plates, I couldn't even begin to tell you what I was eating, but I will say it was completely different from anything I've had (even at Guelagetza) and I've tried a lot of different foods and a perfectly wonderful surprise.

I ordered two Las Cemitas which it turns out are very large sandwiches, the first was marinated pork and the second was seasoned lamb. I also order the a Pacifica Chelada drink, which apparently is beer with some concoction on the bottom and the rim of the glass dipped in salt, chile and what I thought was crushed grasshopper but according the really sweet owner is some type of crushed agave worm? can't remember and not sure. Anyways, the beer was odd, it might grow on me but it reminded me of my college frat days where we'd drop tabasco sauce in the bottom of a mug and then down the beer before the sauce settled. The only  difference is that this tastes rather like the hot sauce has already settled. Between that and the rim paste and the secret mix in the glass, it's just  a really strange combination, a little bit hot but not overbearing and a little bit sour. It wasn't exactly refreshing, but I'd probably order it again. I can't wait to return and try the Clayudas.

The decor is funky fresh, and has these hilarious cartoons depicting various types of women and guys on the walls. The men's room is the piece de resistance however, you really have to see it for yourself but it's essentially got pictures of women gawking at how large you are as you urinate. Funny stuff, I love a good bathroom and haven't seen one in a while.

The girl at the counter was great, helped me choose what I wanted and gave great suggestions because I had almost no idea what I was doing. The young owner is sweet, talks personally with each customer and beautiful to boot, can't beat that combination. If you are adventurous and want something completely different, you should make some effort to come and check this place out. One-of-a-kind.
