My girlfriend and I walked in around 7:15pm and were seated right away. Within 15 minutes I had a hot plate of food in front of me!! Never had such fast service at any restaurant in my life.
Had flautas with beans and rice and ,boy, was it yummy!
I highly recommend Celia's for large groups or even just yourself. They have a full bar and banquet room. I have never been to the other locations before so I do not have anything to compare this to but I have to say that my experience was really good.
Apparently they have great flan, but we didn't try it. -

It's not often that I'm in Petaluma after dark, but if I am there's a decent chance I'll head to Celia's.
I've been to several of their locations around the Bay, and I like their old school Mexican joint vibe, although the food usually kinda sucks. Especially the one in the SF out in the avenues.
But this spot hasn't done me wrong yet. They make good nachos, the service is friendly (albeit a little slow,) and they have a couple of tvs if you want to watch a game while you eat.
I know I didn't rock your world with this review, I'm just telling you if you want to sit down to dinner in Petaluma and you don't want to go to one of the highfalutin joints in the heart of downtown, this might be your best bet. -

Celia's is a small family chain of 6 places around the bay area. I like the one in San Rafael. This one in Petaluma is not nearly as good. The food here lacks the over-the-top flavors, goopiness and pizazz that you get in San Rafael.
The food here is just plain boring and not very fresh tasting. It's no better than a suburban outlet of Chevy's.
The location here is a better neighborhood than San Rafael, safer and more economically prosperous. The dining room here is nicer than the San Rafael restaurant, it's newer, cleaner and roomier. But also more sterile and less fun.
Eaten here twice. I won't bother to return. -

No Mas! I cannot flush that fast!
beans and rice, not so nice!
not as good as the san bruno or san mateo counterparts though im not sure why. not a horrible experience but it makes me miss living near the mission district..
I will keep walking to the mi pueblo down the street -

You want Mexican food -- tainted memories of BAD Mexican food have made you wary, however. Let's take a moment of reflection. Ok Stop it! NO worries like that at Celia's. The same people that own Fernando's in Novato own this place too, it's been around forever. This particular Celia's used to be in Santa Rosa, but has relocated to Petaluma -- let me tell you I couldn't be happier! I am now down the street from some of the best Mexican food available. Huge variety, all very fresh and authentic -- tasty! I love the cancun platter myself. You got crab, chicken, shrimp all in a glorious sauce, spicy drenched with cheesey goodness. You will not leave unsatisfied, have a drink or 2 while you're there from the full bar. Alex the owner is a kick. This is not to be missed!

We were so excited to have a Celia's in Petaluma after having patronized the outlets on the Peninsula for years, but this Celia's is no where near as good as the others in the chain (San Bruno, Burlingame, San Rafael in particular). Service is slow, food is dull and overpriced. What a disappointment!
