Only fascists don't drink tea!

This place was way cool and I highly recommend everybody check it out at least once.  The only bad thing about this place is that you have to pass through Boulder (see my review) to get to it!

You get there and sign up for the FREE tour.  Your admission ticket is a packet of some flavored tea.  They tell you to wait in the tea room where you can try up to 103 free teas.  Awesome on a cold day!  Anyways, after you drink some delicious tea, you get herded into a video room to watch a short video of the company.  Then you tour the factory, which is pretty cool.  Fun to watch all the equipment doing its part as it moves the tea around the factory room.

The Mint room was crazy cool...if you like mint.  The prepare you (yeah right!) before they open the large containment gate/door.  You go in and you are immediately overwhelmed by the smell of mint.  Peppermint and spearmint.  It is EVERYWHERE!!   It effects your eyes, nose, mouth and skin.  Don't mint out for too long...I don't think there are any studies on its lasting effects.

After that, you go through the gift shop which has as many tea flavors that you could possibly want to drink.  They also have other stuff.

I had fun.

Seeing as it's cold and flu season I feel compelled to review my favorite "fix me" teas.

Throat Soothers- By far the BEST sore throat tea ever made. It's hard to find in stores, so stop by if you are at their factory or order online. I swear by this tea when I'm coughing a lot.

Detox AM - Best hangover tea ever. Also good for when you first start feeling sick.

Tummy Mint - pretty good tummy settling tea.

I mostly drink tea when I am feeling under the weather or cold. But I do like a lot Celestial Seasonings teas. I also appreciate (even though it's semi annoying to have to get a spoon or stick your fingers in your cup) that they do not use a string with a paper tag. Apparently they save "a lot" of trees this way. (can't find the stat online but it was in the tour a friend took and he was shocked)

I love tea. I drink it like water. (I know it is water, but you get my drift.) When you arrive at the factory, you are greeted by a tasting bar -- 4 pre-set teas sit on the counter for you to taste at your leisure. In addition, you have the freedom to try any of the hundreds (or maybe just under a hundred) kinds of teas they make. I would have liked to go straight down the list, but I only ended up tasting about 5-8.

As you sip your teas, you can browse their art collection. Did you know Celestial tea packaging consists of comissioned art by really talented artists? The original art pieces sit on display and seriously, the tea boxes do not do justice to the art!

When you're done drinking and gazing at paintings, the tour begins. It's a pretty standard food factory tour and I would recommend visitors go to the factory during a weekday, when the machines are pumping out tea bags. (It's not as fun on the weekends when you stare at empty machines.)

When the tour is done, you MUST pick up some things at the shop -- there are teas not available in stores (I bought 3 boxes) and they're available at the fraction of the price. Overall, a great way to spend an afternoon... especially if you're thirsty for tea.

What a well-rounded and worldly tea AND it come straight out of worldly Boulder itself.  Actually, Celestial Seasoning's tea is quite renowned.  In fact, during one visit to N. Zealand, I did come across loads--even in the houses of the most divine tea lovers.  And so... I can only conclude...there really is something to this savory and multi-faceted tea...something that attracts even the Kiwis, who , God knows, have more coveted tea of there own.   I love Celestial Seasoning tea, personally.  Mmmmm, sleepy time tea, is just the recipe for your distress and insomnia.
