The experience and service I received at Celadon was phenomenal. On a Tuesday night, my boyfriend made reservations for 7:30pm, but I took longer than expected to get ready. We called to move our reservation back to 8:00pm and they were very accommodating. Surprisingly, Celadon had a more casual atmosphere than I expected. I wore a red dress, and I have to admit I wished I had worn something a little less dressy.

We ordered a small plate first. Steamed buns with soy-braised pork belly, micro greens, kecap manis and sambal. When we ordered this, for some reason we thought it was going to be similar to a dumpling, but when we were served the small plate they were more like sliders.  There were only three of them, so we split the third. I would recommend ordering this dish because the pork was simply amazing. It was tender and melted in my mouth. The sauces and greens were also well paired with the pork. The server gave warning about the hot sauce, but unless you happen to be sensitive to spices, it was mild.

My boyfriend ordered a special for the night, rainbow snapper from Hawaii garnished with carrot slaw served on garlic mashed potatoes  and sauteed spinach with a whole grain yellow mustard sauce. He thought the fish was perfectly cooked and the potatoes were "exquisite" as soon as he tasted them. He complemented the sauce and said it tied the dish together. Overall the dish was not overpowering, but perfectly balanced.

I ordered the duck breast with spaghetti squash, roasted chestnut, dried cranberries and sage jus. I have never had duck before, but I thought it was well cooked. I ordered it medium rare, which the server suggested. It was not greasy at all, and had a rich flavor. The spaghetti squash was great and the chestnuts had an unexpected softness which went well with the meal. I really enjoyed the combination of ingredients , and I would order this again.

For dessert we ordered the strawberry raspberry crisp with vanilla bean gelato. The plate came out sizzling hot. The apple crisp was delicious and the vanilla gelato gave it subtle creamy taste. I ordered Dr. Loosen beerenausles riesling - mosel. The server told me that was her favorite dessert wine and I completely agreed with her.

The server was very attentive and nice. We had ordered a half bottle for dinner, and she always filled our glasses before it was completely empty. We even asked for her to take a picture of us on our date!

All in all, I would recommend Celadon for any occasion. With wonderful dishes and service I put this on my 'must return' list!

Pros -
1)  Large wood burning fireplace with central location great to hit that romantic note
2)  Great service
3)  That soy-braised pork belly - yummy yummy, not over the top
4) Nice wine list
Cons -
1)  Overall decor was reminiscent of that from a double-wide back home in Kansas
2)  Expensive and nasty cocktails, I've had better and cheaper in SF any day (yes I understand it's all about the wine, but give me some options)
3)  Rack of lamb super tough and "cabernet jus" did not help
4) THE WORST CRIME OF ALL - my dessert was actually STALE (Gooey chocolate cake).  Dudes, this type of cake needs to be eaten within 12 hrs, not 2 days post bake

Celadon was fabulous.
4.5 stars on the food, the lamb was divine and nice wine selection.
5 stars on the service.
4 stars on the ambiance. (We sat outside, seemed quieter than inside and not as bright but inside looked nice.)
Good idea for reservations on a Friday -Saturday - unsure what mid week is like.
I would definitely dine there again.

I really expected better to be honest. The hostess was cold and our waiter tried too hard and came off as fake but the bartender who served our wine while waiting and the manager or owner who came to check in on us made up for it.

Now for the food, I really enjoyed the clam chowder, my boyfriends spinach salad, pork belly buns and the creme brulee. I would never order the mussels again they were undercooked and although the broth was flavorful the mussels were not and several were unopened and therefore inedible.

I'd probably go again for lunch, but not dinner.

We made a reservation for 7:15 on Saturday night on OpenTable 2 weeks in advance. They ended up filling up completely that night. It's a small restaurant with a closed in patio and bar seating inside. The hostess and our server were super friendly. The wine pro on the other hand seemed a little stuffy. They have this guy on site that will go around and recommend wine for your dinner. He recommended Pinot Noir, which I'm not a fan of. I opted to get a White Sangira to change it up from drinking wine all day. The wine guy wasn't too happy about my choice. Oh well.

We ordered and shared the mussels for an appetizer. They were the meatiest mussels I've ever had! It was also a huge portion that could easily be someone's entree. We both ordered the sea bass special served in an awesome spicy plum sauce. The sea bass was excellent and was served with garlic mashed potatoes and spinach. We both shared the peach crisp a la mode for dessert. I was soooo full when we left. For everything, our meal was about $100. It was well worth it though as it was my favorite meal of the trip.

They call the dress code here, "California Casual".  My husband called  beforehand to see if he could wear jeans and they said yes.

Atomsphere: Meh... seen better decorated places.  This place is sort of a mixbag of designed thrown together.  The otherside tent dinning area had more atompshere than inside.

Food:
-Buttersquash soup, thick and good!
-Pork chop was good, well cooked, but overspiced.
-Chicken plate was also good, and way overspiced and salty!
For a place that advertises "comfort food", it's not.  My mouth was looking for water to sooth it after dinner.

Price:
A bit over priced for a casual place like this.  But ok not over the top.

Ate here on a Thursday night; restaurant was full. Our table was ready when we arrived at 8pm.  We sat at the end of a long bank of tables along one wall.  It was a bit odd in that one person sat looking down the whole row of tables in the "father position," particularly for the people at the next table.

For the appetizer, we selected the macadamia nut-encrusted goat cheese.  It was an excellent combination;  the figs were an excellent complement.

For dinner, I had the lamb shank with couscous.  The shank was nicely done and not too fatty.  The couscous was sweet -- with raisins and almonds -- and was a good complement to the lamb.  I found myself taking bites that had some lamb and some couscous together because the tastes matched so well.

My GF had the roasted chicken breast.  It was nice, but not up to the level of the lamb.

A bit hard to find as it's part-way down a street that's under construction.

I would go again.

Beautiful and delicious!  The chef himself served us our appetizers, the pork belly and the goat cheese, and it was a lovely touch!  The goat cheese was underwhelming, but the pork belly was sublime if you enjoy good, fatty meat.

For entrees my husband and I each ordered the lamb sirloin, which was tender, perfectly cooked, and served with a rich cabernet sauce.  That plus the layered potato dish made for a rich, well rounded meal.

Minus one star because I'm not a fan of the green beans or of wax beans that came as a side, but that's just me being picky.

What a wonderful way to end our culinary tour of San Francisco and Napa!

Californian cuisine with bewildered Asian elements.  That means random Asian influenced appetizers (see below) matched with traditional new American entrees and desserts.  Puzzling.  It's a bit yuppie and is the type of establishment that hasn't seen a diverse clientèle.

++ | Roasted quail w/truffle, risotto, sautéed spinach, topped w/fried shallots (Special) |
Almost a 3star b/c of this dish, the BEST quail I've had - deboned & ultra juicy.  Rich flavorful glaze that's given a great contrast with the crunchiness of thin strips of fried shallot and buttery spinach.  Plus, you get to nimble on a sliver of truffle for fun.

-- Crispy Pork Belly w/Watermelon
Not.. crispy.. at all and more horrifically, the pork belly was hacked into rough cubes, to emulate the accompanying watermelon cubes.  It's really an attempt at Chinese soy-sauce braised pork, with the wrong kind of meat.

-- Calamari
The Chinese fast food chopsticks in the red wrapper were an artistic fail.  Calamari was lightly dressed with a Panda Express sweet & sour sauce & slices of pink ginger from the jar.  BUT at least the execution was done well : the Calamari was still crispy and light in stark deference of the out-of-place sauce.  I should also note, don't get fish here.  It's not a seafood restaurant (e.g. DRY hammered fish).

Acceptable:
Duck Breast w/sweet potato gnocchi
Chevré stuffed Chicken
Morrocan Lamb Shank w/cous cous

I had higher hopes for my $:
My dinner (in a party of 8 w/corkage x2) = $60

My wife and I made reservations as we were staying a few days in Napa on our way back from San Francisco. The visit to Celedon was very good with good service, well prepared/presented food, good value and good ambience. While I was impressed I would not rate it a 5 as the wow factor wasn't there on any front. I would definately visit again when in the area.

Went here for dinner with another couple back in February.  It was a
bit cold, so we opted out of the outdoor seating with roaring fire and
heat lamps in favor of the main dining room.  The interior is very
nicely done, with very high ceilings and warm colors.

Between the four of us, we shared:

-Appetizer of pan roasted mussels with applewood smoked
bacon, tomatoes and white wine.  Nice, smoky flavor, but somewhat
conventional.

-Macadamia nut-crusted goat cheese with port poached figs,
apples and crostini.  Goat cheese is the equivalent of liquid plumber
for my GI, so I passed on this, but others thought it was good.

-Kobe flat iron steak with yukon gold potato gratin, broccoli rabe
and blackberry sauce.  Cooked to medium rare, it was fairly tender,
but less so than I expected from a Kobe.  It was also a lot less
beefy in flavor than I had hoped.

-Heritage pork t-bone with sweet potato gnocchi, brussels sprouts
and honey truffle glaze.  This one was quite tasty, and accompanied
me on my journey to being a born-again pork-liker.

-Seared Ahi.  Don't remember the prep on this one, but it was pretty
standard.

-Papardelle with three mushrooms, pulled pork.  Mushrooms were
to die for, and pork.... ??  Hey, baby.

Wine selection?  I dunno, I don't have that sort of metabolism.
Seemed good, and the sommelier seemed to know what he was
doing.

Overall, it was a very nice place very tucked away from everything
else in the town.  The food was nicely done, but the flavors weren't
as memorable or uniquely outstanding as I've grown to expect from
dining establishments in this category.  3.5 stars with a round-up to 4.

My first time at this restaurant was more than a year ago for a dinner while on an offsite meeting. I was pretty impressed with the food preparation, the casual ambiance, and very reasonable prices.

So impressed, I made reservations here for our first night here in Napa Valley for a long needed break away with just the two of us. About a year ago, there's was a lot of construction around the Napa Mill. New parking structure and new residences were being built, making access to this part of the City of Napa difficult. Now, it's looks pretty impressive.

The restaurant is located in the Old Napa Mill. It's a rustic brick building. Half of the restaurant is in a courtyard setting, while the other half has a more intimate feel, with the bar located inside. This where we were seated, in a two-person table in a corner of the restaurant.

Here's what we ordered:

Starters:
-Soy Braised Pork Belly with watermelon: The watermelon was marinated in rice wine vinegar and Asian herbs. I had this the last time I was here, and I thought it was pretty good, even though the watermelon wasn't in season. This time around, watermelon was in season, and it's sweetness worked well with the vinegar. The pork belly was nice and crispy on the edges, but soft in the center. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

-Steamed mussels: My wife ordered this. Steamed in a white wine broth with bacon and garlic, and finished with tomatoes, then topped with two slices of crostini. Mussels were fresh and fat! http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Large Plates:
-Grilled quail Salad: Really not a large plate, but my wife wanted two small ones instead. This was a special of the day. Frissee salad was topped with yellow beets, arranged with a quartered quail. Very moist and juicy quail. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

-Lamb sirloin: this was another special of the day. The sliced sirloin came with a sauteed string beans and a large rectangle of a potato gratin. Very moist and juicy lamb, prepared medium rare as requested. Went well with a glass of cabernet. Nice cheesy taste with the potato gratin, and the beans were crisp, yet hot. Very satisfying! http://www.yelp.com/bi...

and of course desserts......

-Warm chocolate pound cake: This was a special of the day. This came with a scoop of creme fraiche gelato, marinated bing cherries, topped with chocolate shavings. The chocolate cake was dense, but was subtly sweet. Went well with the gelato and cherries. Nice crunchy crust on the edges! http://www.yelp.com/bi...

-Sorbet of the day: The sorbet of the day was a white peach with port. Two large scoops, served with two pirouette cookies. Very refreshing, and good peach taste with a touch of port. http://www.yelp.com/bi...

Overall, this was a good as the last time. A nice, casual restaurant, and as other Yelpers stated, a great place to come for dinner after a day of wine tasting. Good and attentive service as well.

A truly solid place for lunch or dinner.

to break down this review, the food gets 4 stars and the service gets 2 stars.

the food: kinda bigger portions (which is ok).  the mussels were excellent.  they were just perfectly plump and seasoned perfectly, with some bell peppers and toast to mop up the broth at the bottom of the bowl.  none of that extra chewy or even sandy texture.  the calamari was really well done as well, and it had some asian-like glaze on it.  the pasta was good, but not the best.

the service:  so my pasta was barely half-eaten, and i completely nailed myself with some pasta sauce whiplash on my expensive lacoste polo.  this warranted a bathroom trip.  i go and chat with another table for a couple minutes, and i come back and MY DAMN PASTA IS GONE!  wtf guys...really?  the waiters here are like trigger happy.  they just cant wait until the next thing to take or give or whatever.  its like leave me the f- alone please.  i dont need 5 different wine glasses, and i especially dont need you taking my pasta when im only gone for a few minutes.  also, i would prefer a little more down to earth attitude, but i understand that this place caters to a richer, wine-tasting kinda crowd so i guess thats to be expected.

lastly, they give you free corkage on a bottle when you buy one of theirs.  not bad...we got a dry riesling of theirs for pretty cheap.

I thank Yelp for this amazing find. My friends thanked ME for such an amazing dinner selection, so all is good in the land of eatery and reviews.

Small plates are prefect for sharing. Have more than 4 in your group? The chef will add a few more bites if you like. We had Coconut shrimp, Crab Cake Salad and Calamari. All were A++!

The highlight of our dinner was our shared Filet Mignon with yukon gold rounds. I simply cannot wait to visit again in a few weeks and have this dish all to MYSELF.

We were here on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Service was excellent and our quickie napa tour ended with a belly full of amazing dishes!

My husband and I stopped by Celadon for a late dinner last week. I'd done my research before we had gone to Napa, and Celdaon was my first choice for a dinner destination.

It did not disappoint.

We started with the calamari, which I though was the best cooked and tastiest calamari I've ever had in my life. My only minor complaint was that they sauced the calamari for us; I think I would have preferred that on the side instead.

For entrees, I ordered the halibut, and the husband got the pasta special for the night - parpadelle witth mussels, scallops, and mahi mahi. Boy, was his dish delicious. I nearly polished off his dish for him. The halibut had a crispy crust, but onve I cut into the fish, it was moist and buttery.

For dessert, we split the rhubarb and strawberry crisp with vanilla gelato. It was fantastic. I loved the crumb topping, and the fruit filling wasn't too sweet.

Overall, I had a great time at Celadon. We were beat after a long day in the wine country, so we slept off our food coma at our hotel. What a great way to end the night!

I rarely find myself in Napa, but this weekend I ended up in town.  It had just passed 9PM and we were rushing to find somewhere decent to eat before everything closed up for the evening.  Yelp steered me to Celadon and I'm very happy it did.  The waitstaff are very friendly, not rushed, and spend plenty of time answering your questions about the dishes and the available wine selections.

I had the vegetarian polenta tower, and it was fantastic.  Their coconut shrimp appetizer is also a gem that I'd highly recommend everyone try (assuming you're not allergic to shellfish lol).

The only negative I can mention, is that my fiancee's dinner has a piece of a chipped plate in it.  Luckily she didn't bite down on it since it was very sharp.  I brought it up politely with the waitress, and shortly thereafter the manager stopped by to apologize and offer us a complimentary dessert.  I felt they handled it professionally and I will DEFINITELY come back to dine again!

I was very disappointed in this restaurant. I had heard it was very good and had read good reviews but we did not have the same experience. We had the crab cakes I kept trying to find the crab or at least some crab flavor. Maybe they ran out of crab that day because ours were more filler than anything else. Need to stick to ocean towns to have crab cakes I guess. Then we had watermelon salad, it was just okay. Then we had flat iron steak which was not as tender as we would have expected. We had to eat at the bar since the rest. is small and was full and the service there was okay. After our two glasses of wine which was the best part of the meal we decided to skip dessert and go elsewhere. I was not impressed.

In Short: If you are in the wine country and need a great place to wind down, have a few bottles, and cap it off with a great meal: this is the place to go.

It's pretty conveniently located downtown but when we went, their was construction nearby and the entrance wasn't obviously noticeable.  The atmosphere is somewhat formal but not really enforced.  Probably not a place for young kids, but great for a romantic evening, or for a group of 4.  Especially in the entrance area right by the fire place, is very inviting on a colder night.  We went off season so there wasn't much of a crowd, which was fine by us.

The cuisine was contemporary American but with noticeable, french, italian, and Moroccan.  The menu wasn't elaborate, which in my opinion is a sign of a better restaurant.  The wine selection was great but we chose to take a few bottles that we picked up on our tour, but they do charge 15$ a bottle fee.  The food is fresh and local, and so delicious.  None of the dishes we got were burdened with heavy sauces over unnecessary garnishes.  Everything had purpose, and nice clean presentation as well.  I had the lamb shank on a bed of couscous, the lamb was just falling off the bone.  The couscous was well cooked and had almonds in it which provided a nice crunch.  I was very pleased with my visit here and I'd recommend this place to anyone in the area.

i give this 5 stars just for the macadamia nut-crusted goat cheese with port poached figs.

i had a salad that was pretty good and some good wine, but that goat cheese takes the cake.  as a vegetarian, i had little choice, besides the one vegetarian item on the menu (which didn't sound appealing), but that's ok because that goat cheese made up for it.

mmmmmmmmmm so delicious! This place makes my mouth singggggggggg!
Although everyone raves about the calamari, I thought the dressing was too sweet.
The coconut shrimp salad was so good! And we had the chef's special, which was fettuccini with pork and I don't remember what kind of sauce, boy it hit the spot!
The best clam chowder I have ever had in my life! And I have had a lot of chowder cus that's one of my favorite soups. It sucks that they only have it whenever the chef decides to make it, which is NOT everyday ='(
Mmmmmmm thinking about all the yummy food makes my mouth water *drool*
The duck was good, but not like crazy good.
I want some chowder! And that chef's special fettuccini thing, he probably only makes that once in a while too =(

This is a cute place with a very bright and clean look.  Too bad it's not along the water.  One of the big pluses about this place is that they have half bottles so you don't have to commit to just one varietal of wine.
The food is very good.  The Macadamia nut-crusted goat cheese with port poached figs sounds a lot better than it was - portions were on the small side. The Duck Confit salad is well dressed, has lots of lean duck and shaved parmesan - lots of flavor.  The vegetable napolean is very large and the vegetables well seasoned and grilled, the polenta discs hearty but creamy - on the very expensive side though - $16 for a vegetable "dish" that should really be a side.
We got the special of the day which was a seafood pasta with a saffron sauce.  They were nice enough to split it into 3 portions and they were very nice portions, with nice whole pieces of seafood in it including chunks of fresh fish.
For dessert, we got the gingerbread dessert with vanilla ice cream.  The gingerbread was a bit stale and dry.  It had a raspberry sauce on the side which was a weird match, caramel would have been a better choice.
Service was pretty good.  Overall, I give this place a 3.5 stars which rounds up to a 4.  Would I go again on my next trip to Napa?  Probably not.

We had a great time at Celadon. Admittedly, we chose this restaurant because we were making a last minute trip to Napa and all the other famed Yountville restaurants were booked. I chose Celadon off of other Yelp reviews (thank you!) and luckily they had an open table at a reasonable hour.

My fiance and I arrived at the restaurant and just had to wait a few minutes for our table to be ready. When they walked us back into the main dining room, we noticed our table was literally going to be the last one before the kitchen - not the most romantic spot since we were celebrating our anniversary. We asked the hostess if they have had a table outside (the ambiance there was great) and sure enough she did, so they moved us outside to a great spot by the fireplace.

My fiance ordered the acai and basil gimlet - delicious and refreshing..definitely recommend. I just stuck with wine with dinner. Drinks did take a while to come, but our waitress did come by and apologize for the wait, but said they were up shortly and so they were.

Apps: mussels - delicious. I typically don't eat bacon (i know) since I'm not a fan of smokiness, but these mussels were outstanding. They were plump and huge and so tasty - definitely recommend.
Salad: endive and pear salad with walnuts and blue cheese. This was my least favorite meal of the night. It was tasty, but I wasn't expecting it to be shredded/julienne style. I would have preferred the endive leaves to be whole, but the flavors were good. Don't think I'd order it again though to be honest. Would rather try a diff. salad.
Meal: Pork T-Bone. Oh my God, this was good. I typically go for tenderloins and stay away from pork chops, but this sounded so good I decided to go for it and am really happy I did. I can't remember the last time a dish has been this flavorful.  The apple cider sauce was delicious and the pork was very flavorful. We did have to send it back when we first got it since it was a bit rare (we asked for med-rare and it was still oinking), but glad they undercooked rather than overcooked. When they brought it back it was cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend this.

All in all a very pleasant experience. Our server was very attentive, but not too in your face. All the staff was very friendly. I'd definitely recommend to others looking for a reasonably priced restaurant without the pretentious vibe. Seemed like a lot of locals were at this place, too.

Celadon was our pick for our second night dinner. We were seated right away in their main dining room. They also have indoor patio seating with nice lights and heating lamps.

The service was good. I had a question about the sauce that the braised lamb was cooked in since i dont enjoy sweet food. The waiter promptly brought out a serving of the sauce without me even asking. I definitely appreciated that and enjoyed the sauce.

We started out with the mussels which were very good. The mussels were very large and cooked well. The mussels were tender and the sauce was tasty. For our entrees, my bf had the filet mignon which was melt in your mouth delicious. My bf is a steak eater and ate steak almost every night we were there. He described celadon's steak as the best steak he had in napa. I also tried it and it was amazing. I had the Moroccan braised lamb which was cooked very well with the lamb falling off the bone. The sauce was tasty with a little kick. It came with a couscous which I did not really enjoy since i despise raisins. With our meal we had the Oberon Cabernet which complimented our meal well.

We will definitely be back for the filet!!

Hubby took me here for Valentine's, and WOW, the food here is awesome.  It's a beautiful restaurant and service was top notch.

We were having a difficult time deciding what wine to get, so our server had their in house wine guy come over with suggestions.  And we were not disappointed.  The wine was the best I had ever had.

We started off with 3 appetizers (small plates) and had the steamed buns with pork belly, crabcake, and mussels.  One too many dishes since we were practically full when our entrees came, but oh my God I have never had anything that was so delicious in my life.  I didn't stop with the wiggling the whole night, everything was soooooooo good.

Our server timed each dish perfectly, so we had time to "breathe" in between courses.  Then came our main entrees.  Hubby had the filet mignon and I had the lobster, both from the special Valentine's day menu.  My lobster was good, but the filet was by far the most delicious thing of the whole night.  The truffle oil and mushrooms enhanced the flavor of the meat, which was so tender and juicy, I was able to cut my pieces with a butter knife.  *sigh*.  I know for sure I'll have dreams about that filet.

Then came dessert.  We were already extremely full, but when our server described the dessert, we couldn't resist.  And I'm so glad we didn't.  The chef even brought it out to our table!  That was awesome.  It was the perfect ending to the meal and was soooooooo good.

I left a very happy (and full) girl.  This is definitely a place to enjoy a wonderful meal.

Great place for special occassions or even just a nice dinner once a week. We were happy with everything we got. The calamari, the CRAB CAKE (my husband is so picky about crab cakes but amazingly he loved this one!) The pear and endive salad, the lamb, yum yum. Place is very romantic and staff is great. We went on a Saturday night and even in this economy the place was packed. We sat next to a couple from Chicago who picked the place after seeing the reviews. That is how i found the place too so i figured they deserved another superb review. Thanks for a great birthday dinner!

We took a look at the wine list before coming and since we couldn't really decide we drove over to Del Dotto and grabbed a Cab Franc to enjoy with our meal.
I had a glass of sangria to start but I don't believe it is on the menu anymore. We had the macadamia nut crusted goat cheese to start (and I do not like goat cheese) - it was awesome, especially with those port figs!
For entree I had togarashi crusted scallops with sweet pea coulis which is also no longer on the menu however this is a wonderful sign that a restuarant is constantly switching their dishes - they have too many superb ones!
For dessert: the vanilla bean creme brulee - perfection paired with a glass of the Beringer Nightingale late harvest wine.
What a way to end the meal!

I was Goldilocks Saturday night.
      5:30PM- Reservation at Ad Hoc
      8:15PM- Reservation at Greystone
      10:00PM- Reservation at Bouchon

All were great restaurants, but Ad Hoc was too early; Greystone was too far; Bouchon was too late.  After a very long day of wine tasting, I (aka Rebel Mochalocks) decided to cancel all 3 reservations and book a table at Celadon.

Arriving a tad bit early for our reservation, Michael and I took our seats at the bar. While checking out the cocktail list, the "lazy hound" immediately caught my eye. Grapefruit juice, honey, and house infused lavender vodka? Yes please! Lavender vodka sounds like a bathroom air freshener, but go on & spray me from head to toe with this stuff. It was lush.

The hostess sat us in their enclosed patio (adorable patio, but the tin roof doesn't help decrease volume noise when an obnoxious table is nearby). With a glass of Acacia Pinot in hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the sake-steamed Alaskan halibut. After devouring the halibut along with the bok choy & shiitake mushrooms, I stole a couple bites of Michael's duck dish. Yes, Michael likes to share and thank goodness! A couple bites of the duck, squash puree, cabbage & apples made me say "oh my gawd- this is sooo good" a bazillion times.

Yes. This fairytale had a very happy ending...Michael and I fought over who got the last bite of the berry crisp with vanilla bean gelato.
I won. Duh.

To sum it all up (and for those of you who have no interest in reading my long boring review):
-Ambience: Romantic but not stuffy.
-Food: Divine and competitively priced.
-Service: Super friendly & helpful. They also have a sommelier onsite for all your wine needs.

Was taken here with my friend by my boyfriend and her husband for Valentine's day.  Didn't know what to expect as this was my first time in Napa and there were so many highly rated restaurants to chose from around here.  Celadon was a great move on their behalf as the food was AMAZING.  The complimentary bread and oil+vinegar was yum, my caesar salad was yum, my pasta of the day (and my boyfriend's pork chop) was delicious, and the fruit crisp, which I absolutely had no room for, was yum.

The only one thing that blew our mind at the end of the evening was when we asked the hostess to call a cab for us, upon not being able to reach one, she told us to try walking three blocks down the street (into the cold and drizzling rain) as cabs are SOMETIMES seen there.  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!  We end up calling our hotel concierge to help us instead.

Excellent food and service!
Wonderful food. The calamari, figs and goat cheese, duck, and any of the salads are standouts, but you really cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The covered patio is a beautiful and quite relaxing place to enjoy such a nice dinner.

We went to Napa twice for the 2009 crush and we ate both times here since we liked it so much the first time.  One word is how we feel about this resturant "FANTASTIC".

I had the best salad at Celadon, trust me on this. I did not want to share . Spinach salad w/ duck confit , petit basque cheese, dates and truffle vinaigrette. As soon as the salad hits the table you can smell the truffle vinaigrette . It's great. I ate every last bit of my salad.
For my main I had the lamb special with a leek risotto and Swiss chard. It went perfect with the 92 Raymond Private Reserve that we had brought.
Our server Jaynel was so sweet and attentive. She was very accommodating to our needs.
Celadon is at the end of main st right in the middle of construction .(They are putting in condos on the river). But it is worth it to seek it out and find parking. It's also not as expensive as some other restaurants in the valley.

How nice.. I had an afternoon with Son-ray and his GPS system gave us Celadon. What a nice place, located almost on the river front, in an ancient building. It was late in the afternoon, and there was a lot construction going on outside, but we sat inside away from the construction noise... Great service (even, just for fun, we went through the wine bottle sizes with our server -- the magnum, jereboam, methuselum, nebuchadnezzer, etcetera) and our waiter clearly enjoyed that we knew something about that, and so we had a little quiz with him {fun}.  I a server who enjoys his job!!!  We ordered the calamari small plate (Around $13.00), came drizzled with a sweet chii glaze. Very crispy and fresh. I ordered the 1/2 ceasar with a generous, moist serving of grilled chicken breast for $7.50 ($13.00 for a whole order); initially I thought it heavily dressed, but when Son-ray tasted it, he deemed it nicely dressed. I'm a little calorie conscious, so as I ate and let the guilt go, I realized he was right. Son-ray ordered the Grilled Chicken Club (around $13.00) -- it looked really good, with good, crispy bacon, lovely fresh avocado and a nice slab of grilled chicken breast. The sandwiches come with either fresh tarragon-coated, house-made thin french fries or a micro green salad. We got the fries; this is where I stopped feeling guilty altogether and simply enjoyed them! Very good fries.   Overall, I'd give this place an A++ -- I saw another late lunchers order the pasta du jour , which I won't describe because it will just make you ravenous, but when I saw the serving portion, it was an AMAZING, large serving!!  I wish we'd been there for dinner, as I'd order that daily special in a heart beat. Great cocktail menu, too, though it was 2 p.m. and waaay too early for cocktails. Service was impeccable; available when we needed him, absent when we didn't, and able to recite the various wine bottle sizes, which made him fun, too. Perfect!  We ended up spending somewhere around $45.00 for the two of us, with ice tea, no alcohol, no dessert. and we left full and satisfied. A big plus is that this restaurant is housed in a very old industrial building, and is very novel and historically interesting.

Lunch ended with a very nice espresso... well executed by our waiter, not a barrista.

Overall a 4 star experience, and I bet I'd give them a five for dinner service.  Service was excellent, food was very, very good... worth a try if you're in the upscale lunch kinda mood in Napa.

What a nice afternoon we had.

This restaurant is located in a historic building loaded with charm beginning with the walk way which s decorated with beautiful flowers and succulents.  The outside seating is wonderful especially at night with the fireplace going--very romantic.  For starters we had macadamia nut crusted goat cheese with port poached figs, apples and crostini and grilled polenta with mushrooms, tomatoes, wilted greens and balsamic glaze, they were both delicious with tons of flavor!  Oh they also bring complimentary bread with a yummy dipping sauce, I only with they had warmed the bread.   Then I had endive and pear salad with blue cheese, candied walnuts and honey mustard vinaigrette and my friend had the baby spinach and duck confit with dates and petit basque cheese, truffle vinaigrette without the duck and the dressing was divine!  I will definitely be going back for more!!

Went for an early dinner after wine tasting.  We were seated by the chef, who was very pleasant.  Had two fantastic cocktails while waiting for our entrees.  One, the "spa martini" made with house infused cucumber vodka and ginger syrup.  Sweet, but the cucumber made it refreshing and unique.  Hubby had "madame taylor" with scotch, lime and ginger beer.  Both were $10.00.

For dinner, we both ordered from the nightly specials.  Hubby had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and broccoli raabe, and I had the Pasta with porcini and chanterelle mushrooms topped with a braised short rib and a dollop of horseradish cream.  The sauce for the pasta was the braising liquid from the short rib.  This dish was just magnificent. If there is some version of this dish on the specials or menu, you will not be dissapointed to order it.  Hubby liked the rib-eye, it just wasn't as memorable as the pasta dish.  This is the only reason I am giving Celadon 4 stars instead of 5.

Chef Cole came by to ask how our dinner was.  A nice touch to show the Chef is interested in his guests.

At under $100 with tip, Celadon is fine dining for a reasonable price in Napa.

greetings napa diners...i was uber excited to come here based on the raving reviews but unfortunately was a bit of a let down for me. Being in the napa valley most restaurants just have to raise the bar just because there are so many top notch restaurants in the nearby vicinity just to be competitive...first of the waitress came and mentioned the specials which was nice and when she asked us for our drink order, i asked if they were known for any drinks and she said "no". I was puzzled because on their website the moment you point your browser to it a pop out window mentions the womens drink of choice called the "bella". Anyways...after putting in our orders for the entrees and appetizers it took about 20mins to get our appetizers and about an hour for our entrees.  I wonder because the restaurant was not busy  and the kitchen seemed a little slow from the outside...much to my delight i ordered the Moroccan inspired braised lamb shank with golden raisin and almond couscous which was delicious. the couscous was cooked perfectly and the lamb meat was so tender that it literally falled off the bone with my fork a great redemption for the appetizers....the fried calamari and the pork belly with watermelons were a disappointment...overall dinner service went well..charged us 30$ for corking 2 bottles (which is typical in any restaurant i thinks) dinner, a round of nice vodka and appetizers for 8 ppl came out to $451. Which i think was fairly reasonable for a good meal. ill come back for lunch someday to see if its better...otherwise it might be a one stop wonder.  3.5 Judochops in my book.

I've been wanting to dine here for the past two years! Finally found time in my schedule and I must say, Celadon did not disappoint. I went for dinner;  had the pan-seared calamari with ginger  as an appetizer which was delicious!  For my main course, I tried their signature dish, Moroccan Lamb over couscous... ahhh... fabulous.  I loved the fact that the waiter paced the entrees, I never felt rushed to eat or that all the food was served at one time.  Had time to chat, enjoy my cocktail, and absorb the beautiful surroundings.  Did I feel pampered or what?  I'll be back, I want to try their lunch.
