Santorini in late August it is not, more like Nikki Midtown a-la Queens but with enough of a culture mix and a Greek flavor to try it on at least once. For Manhattanites, I wouldn't recommend going there on purpose but if you find yourself late evening somewhere between LGA and JFK looking for a place to eat and party, this is the one.

Awesome Greek food, hot girls without Meatpacking pretense, great dance mix of pop, hip-hop and reggaeton, and  relatively inexpensive bottle service. If you don't have your own driver, black cars usually wait outside for $30 back home.

Two minuses are 1) they keep throwing lots of napkins in the air, so you are wandering around a floor which looks like a toilet at a dirty train station (wtf?!), 2) the sound system in a big room is not well calibrated and it times deafs you up

Okay, so I'm going to be really honest here. Cavo has amazing food, but the atmosphere is really pretentious and the food overpriced. Overall, I was really turned off and probably won't go back unless I have someone visiting that needs to be impressed by a ritzy restaurant.

From the outside, Cavo looks like a nice mom-and-pop kind of restaurant. I was delighted to discover it about 1/2 a block from my apartment. But once inside you quickly realize that you are in fact in a restaurant that is catering to a Manhattan-esque ritzy crowd. Which, in my opinion, is somewhat disappointing as I live in Astoria for a reason! When first entering, you are in the bar area which has a huge lounge seating area. After walking through this area, you move into the restaurant section - which is really quite large with a loft space and outdoor seating (which has its own running water wall).

I've only been once and the staff were very nice and efficient. I went during the summer, so they were all dressed in matching white linen outfits (very Greek of them). The food and wine was delicious, but definitely Manhattan prices. I think for 4 people having dinner, dessert, and sharing a bottle of wine it was over $200.

They have a really packed crowd on the weekend - I've walked by and seen a line of people going around the corner. They do have valet parking, which is nice for those who are too lazy to walk.

Fun time. Lots of different areas to venture into and a large outdoor patio.

Hard time getting right up to the bar b/c the predominantly Euro crowd tends to linger around well after they've ordered and began drinking their cocktails. Cranberry and vodka runs $10 per drink which isn't bad. Drinks are strong so it's worth the $.

My main complaint is the bartenders think it's cool to throw napkins (and I mean A LOT of napkins) in the air. Why do places do this? Ugh.

It's not that I mind napkins fluttering through the air once in a while- The problem is there are literally THOUSANDS of torn, stepped-on paper napkins COVERING the floors of every room and stair.

Bottom line: Girls, you won't look cute constantly picking what looks like used toilet paper from the bottom of your shoes every 30 seconds or worse, not realizing and walking around with tissue stuck to your heels. Dozens of ripped napkins even coat the sidewalk out front. There is no escaping them!

It's a nice, good-looking space otherwise and draws a pretty good crowd.

I try not to judge a place when I go with a super large group (12 of us last night) but that's the case for the first time I ate at Cavo.  I have gone before for drinks, and the cheesy pick up scene would have gotten less than a rave review.

We had a reservation for 9:30 and were seated after 10.  I know a large group can be tough, but we did call in advance and it being late, people were getting hungry.  Had a glass of Chardonnay at the bar while waiting and it was warm and not very tasty; at the table, I switched to a glass of Sauvingon Blanc and that was much better.

After we were seated, the service was quick and pleasant.  I enjoyed my salmon, much more than the mashed potatoes that came with it and thought the pita with hummus was a nice touch for the table, vs regular bread and butter.  The meals were just as - if not more - expensive than in some Manhattan restaurants.  I can understand that Cavo has a lot of overhead with the large space and garden, but there is so much amazing, inexpensive Greek food in the area - you're basically paying for the atmosphere.  Which, on a summer day, is quite lovely.

"Great time", that's what I say EVERYTIME I leave Cavo.
I have ate there and partied there and still left there with the same experience.   I was there this past Saturday for a friend's 30th birthday and had a great time!  The beautiful patio wasn't as packed as it is during the warmer once, but that didn't stop the crowd.  The music was INSANE as usual!  Alittle mixes of everything, the DJ really knows how to keep the crowd moving! The people were having a great time which just adds to the atmosphere,
I have read some on the views and just laughed to myself.  The napkin throwing  bothers some of you?!?! COMON!! Live alittle LOL
The food is alittle pricey???....  you pay for what you get and everytime I have ate here, it has been EXCELLENT...

So 5 star rated... a great first date also!!!  ENJOY!!

Came here once on a date and thought it was beautiful. Our food was good and we were able to sit outside (as it was summer). The environment felt like I wasn't even in the city...I loved it.

The atmosphere at Cavo was very impressive. Went here on a Saturday night at 8pm with another couple. We got a seat in the outdoor courtyard. Apparently, there are other table up on the roof, but they were reserved for bigger parties. It was really beautiful with the waterfall facades, trees and it was just enormous inside and out.
Our waiter was very nice, but a little nosy responding to everything I said to my friends when he came up.
Anyway, we started with the saganaki (delicious), zucchini blossoms, and sardines. All was delicious! They didn't skimp on the glasses of wine either. Normally restaurants will fill up a glass about halfway, but they filled it up here and it was much appreciated!

My entree was the mushroom risotto. I tasted the saltiness right away. I got over it after eating more of it though.
The other entrees at the table were the baby lamb chops, and a fish dish. Everyone thought it was delicious...but they could have had more of the lamb chops on the plate as they were so tiny.
All in all the place really impressed us with the space. I would definitely go back again and go a little bit later, for when the music starts (I heard that it starts about 11pm).
Our dinner for 4 came out to $200. No desserts and one drink each.

After enduring a horrific week with two rejections and stress in other areas of my life I was able to wash the troubles away with my closest friends.  I came here for a threesome birthday after-party which I had a blast as it was the people that made a difference.

Cavo's music is monster-truck loud as nightclub patrons can hear it outside in the street a block away, thus my four star rating.  The genre of music is a mix of salsa, R&B, pop, and rock of old and current songs/artists.

Dress code policy is for both men to have sleeves on should one wear a tank top underneath.  Modern Greek cuisine in Astoria, Queens as there is an outdoor garden area which is quite spacious.  The entrance dance area is a obvious violation to the occupancy code as it's too crowded and way too small.  The gargantuan speakers are visible as it sits on the dance floor where it vibres the entire room which can be heard outside of the street also.

A valid photo ID must be presented for admittance of 21 years old. Minimum purchase for credit card is $20.00 which is ridicious.

Liquor is OVERPRICED.
We wanted to order bottle of Jose Cuervo Tequila the one you can buy in the liquor store for $25. They sell it for $230.
Of course there must be a mark up but almost 10X.... I dont know... May be. U be the judge.

I've been going to Cavo for a decade.  Over the years the menu has changed but only gotten better.  The atmosphere is stil the same.  Walking through the doors takes you out of Queens and into a tavern in Greece.  The outdoor space with its tranquil waterfall is a refreshing escape.  The service is wonderful as well.

Went on a friday night with a group of 6 friends, and everyone loved the place. The restaurant was enormous, both the inside and the outdoor garden, and the decor was elegant and beautiful. I've been to a good number of expensive restaurants before and I have to say - there are a number of nice touches this one provides:

1) First, the owner came out to greet and seat us. The owner - that's not so common in a big restaurant the size of Cavo, albeit the night was slow and the restaurant was less than half full. Still, it was a nice start to the evening. He really seemed to care about food and service quality, and introduced us to their new chef that specializes in seafood before handing us to our waiter for the night.

2) The waiter was completely on point all night. He appeared at all the right moments and we never had to look for him long before he materialized in front of our table. He also gave good recommendations when we asked for it

3) Everyone enjoyed the food. I had the lamp chops and my best friend had the risotto - both very well prepared, and just sized about right (although I would guess that for a big guy, the proportions of the lamb chops might be a tad small).

4) We were never made to wait long and we were never rushed.

5) The outside garden is one of the largest and nicest I've ever been to. Good for a group of friends or for a date.

The only downside is that you pay for what you get. A normal dinner will cost you $50 easily, and with drinks and dessert, it may cost you more but that price is just reasonable I think. The bunch of us had a few white sangrias, and the cheesecake and hazelnut chocolate at the end to share (may I say - both desserts were delicious! Not out of the world delicious but worth the extra splurge at the end if you're craving for a sweet ending to the meal. :))

All in all - a good dinner to start of the night! All 6 of us left happy and full. We'll definitely be back!

Impressive.

I wasn't sure what to expect of Cavo, although I know it loomed seductively on the corner of my street with beautiful lights adorning the roof and beckoning to come in. I've learned to trust restaurants with the yellow sparkly lights.

Upon entering Cavo you realize how huge the place is. You first walk through a lounge area with sofas and reclining couches. I half expected to see Greek gods with grapes dangling over their mouths and goblets of wines at their table. The lighting was dim and the atmosphere sleek and modern. Once entering the actual restaurant tables and booths littered the inside. I was seated at a semi-circle booth which was perfect for optimal closeness to your date without the awkward sitting on the same side of a normal booth.

The servers were extremely knowledgeable about their products and the wine especially. We ordered a bottle of Greek red wine and our server explained thoroughly how to best choose a wine and his thoughts on our decision. Appetizers and entrees were reasonably priced for the environment, about 10-25 dollars a plate. I settled on the special: Red Snapper with spinach and lemon potatoes - fabulous! For dessert we ordered the sampling of gelato (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry) and the chocolate hazelnut bomb. Go for the gelato, it's the perfect way to end a satisfying meal.

It was an overcast evening when I went, so I look forward to going back over the summer on a warm night to check out the garden area that everyone is raving about!

Overall, for a very impressive night in Astoria, surrounded by a cool, European crowd, treat yourself to Cavo.

I am such a huge lover of Cavo...what more could you want great food, drinks, music and the atmosphere is HOT!!! They have a loungey feel inside with cozy couches that you can dine at or just order bottles. On Saturday they are reserved, but any other day you can more than sit in this area. The large dining room area has great music and plenty of room to enjoy some Mediterranean food and drinks and then after dance with the DJ spinning on the weekends. They have different themes as well, such as Sunday's Belly Dancing starting at 8:30pm.

They serve food til like 2am and are open til 4am. It is a eclectic mix of people and always has been a lot of fun. The food is fantastic, the Greek spreads, grilled octopus, calamari, short-ribs, fish dishes and my favorite was this speciality was a cold seafood mix served over Israel Couscous. I wish it was on the main menu.

The Prosecco is divine and Sangria is a classic. The outside garden area is a great place to have dinner and feel like you have left NYC. I would highly recommend coming here for not only a great meal but a great time of drinks and dancing.

This is the number one "take your friends from Manhattan" place to go in Astoria.  This is a gorgeous restaurant with exceptional food.  There is a beautiful outdoor patio for those warm summer nights.  The crowd is good looking and there to have fun.

The food would be considered modern Greek cuisine, that is slightly on the pricey side but great for what you are getting.  Excellent (huge) hanger steak is a star of the menu.  Whole fish is fresh and delicious.

Go in the late evening with a fun group of friends, dine and then enjoy as this place turns into a true Astoria nightclub.  This will give your Manhattan friends the full Astoria experience.

What better way to soothe my hangover than a Pomegranate Martini? Absolutely none. It took me back to sweet childhood memories of getting high on cherry cough syrup with my sister..yummy! I absolutely loved it. And my date said I'd love Cavo because "It's Euro-trash." Gee, thanks babe, I knew I wouldn't disappoint you. And I knew he'd enjoy the scenery as there was a belly dancing show on a Sunday and I kinda suspected he had the hots for one of the dancers.

The outside garden is absolutely gorgeous, and makes you feel like you're anywhere but in New York; I could actually see the stars. Service was excellent and I got complimented on my choice of Greek pasta, which is lamb and penne with goat cheese. Hmmm hmmm hmmm, so long my vegetarian days.

In terms of the menu, it's not traditional Greek but more on the contemporary side. Also, while belly dancers add a nice touch, seemed like there was an effort to push all things ethnic on our plates. Most Greek-style belly dancing establishments are traditionally more like modest taverns and not posh restaurants such as Cavo. But these are all minor points really.

The fact that the manager came around twice and asked us how we were enjoying our night was a huge bonus. All and all, it was a great, romantic atmosphere, with delicious and plenty food -which was lunch and dinner next day for me-. I'd definitely go back, yes please.

I am having my engagement party at Cavo in a few weeks in the upstairs balcony. Today I decided to check out the space/food before the main event. I LOVE cavo! what a sleek gorgeous space....WOW i'm impressed. The food/service/drinks are all awesomeeee! Its def a bit pricey for dinner, we spent over 200 for 4 people with 1 drink each. I have to say that planning a party here for a large group was SUPER easy!! I never expected it to be so seamless and smooth. I picked out a banquet menu which is served family style and the drinks and that was it. They're super accomodative and flexible. I am looking forward to my event and will report back on how it goes.

I threw my 21st b-day here..wow 3 years ago!!!!!!!!!! I feel old :(

They have this cool marini menu that have a variety of martini's to choose from, which was cool. FYI after 3 am they permit smoking so just be prepared to either 2nd handsmoke to the 10th power or leave. This place is not that diverse. Mostly greek and euro's here.

Food and garden: EXCEPTIONAL!!!!! You'll be surprised on how big the actual garden is and the decor is realllyy nice. Lost a star bc of the 2nd hand smoking but all in all a good place to just come in sessions. I was a regular and its like dejavu all over again. Same music and same kind of ppl. Its a "sometimes" place.

We were going to a house party in the hood and thought it would be fun to make a night of it in Astoria. Asked a friend for a local recommendation. My only request was that it be "good and something you can't get in Manhattan."

It's a funny spot. From the outside it doesn't look like much and so I thought "ah he sent us to a local hole in the wall." Then you walk into what looks like an empty bar. Walk a little further and it's like you're in the Astoria version of Tao. Huge space, bolts of fabrics swathed across the ceiling, a huge bar lit from behind, etc.

We started with a Greek beer Aris. At first I thought it tasted strange (i.e. not like Stella) but it grew on me, it almost had a hint of honey. Then we had the gratis tapenade (we asked for more, it was so good), shrimp in fillo, scallops with capers, shortribs over polenta, various spreads. My advice is to order everything Greek, the shortribs were the least good. They were good, but everything else was excellent.

And our waiter was really cool. Not overbearing, knowledgeable, and just gave off a good vibe.

Was here on a date recently and I was really impressed with the decor. Apparently, Cavo has been around for 10 years now and I went to JHS and HS in that area. Who knew? Loved the garden and the outside dining. The inside is like a lounge and I believe they hold shows there (belly dancing, tango, and what not). The food was decent. I ordered the mushroom risotto and it was too salty for me. My date ordered the scallops which looked really good (but I'm not a fan of scallops so I can't tell you how it tasted). The octopus appetizer was good and I loved the bread and the chickpea (at least I think it was chickpea) spread.

I didn't eat here; I'm reviewing for the nightlife.

After a low-key Queens dinner on Austin St. my two girlfriends and I decided that we wanted to go dancing, but without the hassle of going into the city.  One of the girls knows someone who works at Cavo, so we decided to check it out.

The place is HUGE.   I was really suprised; there is a front bar area, then a loungey area with couches and tables, then a large dining area, then a gorgeous outdoor patio.  The dj was spinning mostly house, which I'm not usually a fan of, but he did throw in some hip hop and reggae for good measure, and he was good at mixing and keeping it moving.  My goose & soda was $12, but it was so strong that it really was the equivalent of 2 of the same in the city.

It's free to get in, just $2 for coat check, and there is no line.  The crowd was mostly Greek and Latin, and had a good energy.  Everyone was just having a good time: no drama, no pretentiousness.  I would go back for another low-hassle night for sure, especially in the summer when I can check out the patio.

Parking is a bit tricky...just be prepared to drive around a few times.

Living five (5) blocks away from Cavo is such a treat for us. The place is elegant and relaxing and the garden is fantastic! I pretend that Cavo is part of our home, our backyard. After all, I can dream, can't I? Don't worry, I don't dine with anyone imaginary at Cavo.

I am addicted to their short ribs which they used to offer with orzo and then they changed it to polenta and now they serve it on a pita bread. Please, please the short ribs with orzo was the best and spectacular, bring it back!!!

By the way, they have these battery run "candles" that look like the real thing. The waiter was even kind enough to tell me where they purchased it although for the life of me I can no longer remember where I wrote that down. Anyway, it's great to have Cavo in our neighborhood.

Huge fan of Cavo!!!

The people that go there infect each other with vigor and craziness. Can't recall any other bar that allows napkin throwing ;)

I think the prior posts really speak to the impressive decor and sheer size of Cavo. It is just a beautiful place to be. I like the fact that there are essentially four areas of Cavo each with its own distinct vibe. The front area of the bar is the scene of the napkin throwing. Fun and lively. The couch area just in back of it is romantic and low lit. The large two level "restaurant" or back bar is energizing and the garden area is just mesmerizing. Drinks are a little pricey by queens standards but the drinks are made well and selection at the bar is great! It's a Vegas style club right in Astoria. Really top notch.

Love the house music and the Greek music DJ also has a couple throw back tracks in the beginning of the night (I think I was rocking out to "This is how we do it" one night ha ha)

If you haven't gone give it a try!

I had a good meal here although nothing was great, besides for the fish, which they did next to nothing to, so if anything the fish gets the credit!  If i had the option i would give this place a 3 1/2 star rating.

I went on a Tuesday night, it was busy but not packed, still a few tables and we did not have to wait.  Very nice large open space, great staff, helpful friendly and professional.  Meal started with warm pita and olive spread which was very good.  For Aps we had the chicken suvlaki, it was not great.  In a tomato and onion sauce, not alot of flavor, kinda a miss.  We also had the Greek spreads: Humus, tzaziki and a feta and red pepper spread.  It was all good, nothing great, the humus was a bit flat, the feta and red pepper spread was a bit intense and not easily spreadable.

For the main course we had the black sea bass, head left on but deboned, very nice fish, very fresh, cooked perfectly.  The spinach on the side was bland, could have used garlic, the same can be said of the potatoes, which were slightly undercooked.  There was a special with sirloin steak over mashed potatoes (with of course a much fancier name, was it 'pureed'?) which came with a 'garnish' (???) of short ribs!  This was alright but misleading, it was not sirloin steak, but a few cuts OF a sirloin steak, my father was disappointing.   The steak it self was ok, not very tender.

Overall not bad, not great, kinda overpriced, but a very nice place that would be perfect on a date.  They have red and white sangria, the White i preferred much more, i think i tasted a hint of peach in it, more like a fruity beverage than a wine drink, but very good, recomended, although it was $10 which is crazy high for basically  1/2 a cup of wine.

I like this place. Believe me. I do. Why the two stars? because... i only like it for VERY specific reasons.
1) The ambiance, decor and how just plain old beautiful this place is. Go on a warm summer night. the outdoor garden is absolutely lovely!
2) its a great place on a quiet weeknight. its quiet, not many people. go bring a date! just enjoy eachother's company in this beautiful bar

DO NT GO IF.........
1) you are hungry-- the food is NOT amazing. good, yes. GREAT? NO!

2) if you're cheap-- this place is EXPENSIVE! considering the neighborhood and the quality of food... its WAY too much money

3) wanting specialty cocktails-- TOO SWEET! I might as well go suck on a sugar coated piece of jolly ranchers! yuck! instead stick with something basic like a cran vodka... johnny and soda.... those things. the bartenders here like their drinks to be intolerably sweet

4) planning to bar hop-- the closest bar that isn't some sports dive is maybe.... five LONG ass blocks away

BUT! GO FOR THE DECOR! go for that quiet weeknight date for pre-or post dinner drinks or go to drink with the girls before you guys head out to dance (you'll get a LOT of laughter from all the sleazy douchbags hitting on you... but some men there are quiiiiiiite attractive too! ^^)

Cavo has a wonderful atmosphere and first class cuisine...great service also.
We were three girls having dinner this past Thursday night, we were seated in the garden arae, there was a great guitarist playing and it was not too loud.
There are great choices on the menu !  We started with 3 appetizers and shared all our dishes, we started with risotto which was excellent and not too salty, we also had the crabcake which was amazing you can see large pieces of jumbo lumb and the sauce or dip was great with that it also had a great crunchy salad to compliment and the 3rd app was the zucchinni squash blossom stuffed with goat cheese  oh we had a 4th app! shortrib and polenta! for the main course we had the Angus beef striploin excellent, Bronzino filet beautiful and fresh and tuna napoleon, the fish is excellent the desserts were really great the lemon cello tiramisu can get us into a lot of trouble addictive as well as the hazelnut chocolate bomb and the cheescake, oh and the raspberry white chocolate tart!!!  I must say the Chef Richard Farnabe is excellent and we will recommend Cavo to our friends and be back for more, we had a french red burgundy and the drinks we had before our wine were made very well.

I've been to Cavo on 2 occasions: a birthday party where we did not have dinner and separately for dinner with a group of friends.

Partying: This place is not my type of party destination. It's pretty and a good size, (I don' t know about massive though.) But the music wasn't my cup of tea but if you like house and techno garbage then you'll love it here. The guys aren't very good looking either, their spikey hair could cause  hazardous conditions. The women were good looking though and dressed very well, I'm a big fan of a good looking crowd.

Food: The host and wait staff are very professional and friendly. Gave just the right amount of attention: they didn't harass us every 5 minutes but we also didn't have to cause a scene for their attention. The hummus was good stuff, we had lobster rolls that were good, I had the seafood spaghetti was bland but spicy. But I also tasted the skirt steak and the chicken which was really good. The sangria was light but ok. The chocolate martini was good and so was "The Diva." We sat outside and it's beautiful but people in Queens don't know that smoking is out of style and were puffing away like chimneys which ruined it for us. It'd be nice if they had a smokers section outside. Let them kill themselves.

4 stars for the food, 3 for the ambience, 2 for the hostess who forgot we were waiting for a table and never called despite putting our name and phone number on the list.

Very trendy place on a nondescript street in Astoria - apparently turns into a club later at night on the weekends.  I was hoping for a nice romantic meal, the DJ clearly had other ideas.  Beautiful decor, as you can see in the pictures, but it is really hard, despite all the mood lighting in the world, to seduce someone when you lose your voice halfway through drinks from shouting.

Drinks are meh - at least they're queens priced (~10/cocktail).  Mussels are surprisingly excellent despite it being a greek place.  Dipping the fresh slices of pita into the tomato cream sauce is an experience everyone should have.  Fried rice balls are wonderful as well - better than at Ciprianis (my only other data point on fried cheesy rice balls).  The beet salad tasted like something I would make, just tossing 2 types of beets on top of arugula with a piece of goat cheese, half a can of white beans, and a liberal sprinkling of balsamic.  Didn't even have the large flakes of pepper that goes so well with the flavors.

Would love to come by in the summertime and experience the garden.  Definitely one of the highlights of Astoria, but go before 10pm on weekends if you want to have a conversation

came in while waiting for a singer/songwriter show at blackbird's, a long block away, to have some food. The place is attractive in that outer borough faux-classy sort of way. sat at the bar. bartender was a perfectly cute, sadly married, greek woman. very sweet, good bartender, just the right mix of attention and space. had a few small plates of food - a big romaine salad with an anchovy feta dressing, some saganaki, and some shrimp wrapped in filo, as well as a few ouzos.

the salad was tasty. the saganaki needed lemon , bur hot feta is a good thing, i just wish it had been a feta with a bit more character. the shrimp was decent, but really not memorable in any way. the ouzo was good.

it was pretty early, so the place was empty. dead empty. so i have no idea what the crowd is like, or how the service is or anything.

better than cheap nasty greek food, not as good as something innovative from a great chef would be, a little better than average food, with pretensions of being more; so a solid 3 - 3.5 stars. you could do worse.

God help me, but I actually liked this place.  After enduring a long cab ride out to BFE Astoria and a quick glance at the primarily guido-esqe B&T crowd in line outside, I was skeptical.  (I bear no grudge against that type of crowd, but it's just not my scene)

The Good:
Once inside, I was impressed by the thumping and well mixed house music, the mature crowd and the efficient service.

It's easy to get lost in a place like this - it's absolutely massive!  If the heat of the place gets too overwhelming, theres a large outdoor patio area in which to chillax (I hate that word).

The bad:
Interestingly enough, I witnessed girls getting hit on while in line to the bathroom.  This was probably due to two things:
 1.  The place is a sausage fest
 2.  The lines to the restroom were really long
I'm not a girl, but I am sure that this is one of the last places I would want to get hit on.

Girl:  "O gosh o gosh, I really have to pee!!!"
Guy:  "Yo girlie, where u frum?  Long Island?  Yeah, I love dem long island chickz, boyeeee!"
Girl:  "...."

The Ugly:
Numerious fashion faux pas.  For example:
- Open backed shirt with non-open backed bra
- A dude w/white pants and white shoes (it's not quite Memorial Day yet, brah.  And you look like a douche anyway)
- Black with navy blue
- Von Dutch trucker hat (does anyone still wear those anymore???)
- Significant amounts of exposed chest hair
- Enough cologne to set off my allergies
- Dragonball Z hair styles (pre-super saiyan color though)

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly was such a great movie, and I am a huge nerd.

Cool place to go. The place is huge. Great atmosphere, nice workers, foods not bad. See I am Greek and I can tell you it's not bad. Just the portion was a bit small. Our bartender was always bringing on the drinks. Cool.
Wait can it be that we over tipping him?
It's o.k. he was a nice guy.

From the outside, this place looked like a small, unassuming bar.  I wondered what all the hype was about as I looked around at all the shiny expensive cars parked in front and across the street.  Once I went in, it was a shocked to find a crowded, bass-thumping bar jammed with people at 9pm on a Saturday night.  Wandering further in, I realized this place was enormous.  There's another bar in the back, as well as a two level restaurant area (converts to bottle table service later in the evening).  There's also a large outdoor space in the back.  The entire place was elaborately decorated and strategically lit.

We came for a late dinner and people-watched from our table.  This was what I'd imagine a trendy mega lounge/club in Europe must be like.  People were dressed in brightly colored designer duds from head to toe (I especially loved the guy in the skintight white buttoned down shirt with "Dolce & Gabbana" scrawled all over it in black "graffiti"), and cooly bobbing their heads to the trance music thumping throughout.  We were obviously underdressed in our non-name brand t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers.

But we were here for the food.  Our waitress wasn't the most attentive, but we figured out how to successfully flag her down for menus and drink refills throughout our meal.  The sangria was yummy and served mai-tai style in a fancy glass with a paper umbrella and orange wedge.

I ordered the short ribs appetizer.  It was only lukewarm, which sucked, but otherwise delicious.  Everyone else liked what they ordered too, as I looked around at all the empty plates, with the exception of the person who ordered the porkchop.  Cavo's porkchop reminded me of the Flintstones, it was HUGE!!!

The manager came by our table towards the end of our meal to greet us.  I thought that was a nice and classy touch.

The place was a little too scenester for me, but I can see how it can be fun for someone looking for that kind of environment.  Which is why we brought our houseguests here, for the wow factor.  Just remember to wear your most expensive outfit!

The place is beautiful! It is HUGE! It has the vibe of a chic wedding-reception/restaurant.
I didn't hang out by the bar but will keep this place in mind when I want some drinks and a cool environment (music was pretty loud).

The service is good.

The Food was OK. Not anything to brag about but if you have a date or want to impress someone, this is your place in Astoria.
I had the Filet Mignon and it was good even though I've had better (in the city, of course).
Sangria was OK, a little of the light side for $10 each glass!

Hummus is complimentary and it was also ok.
Patrons were dressed well, so I would advise not to go in flip flops or athletic gear.

Would I go back? Yeah, when I want something more elevated and don't want to travel to the city.

The Place: This place is huge and really pretty. We sat in the garden which was an amazing space,  I could see that being a really nice place for a rehearsal dinner or some such thing. The drinks were good. The service was great.

The Food: I ordered the sea bass and seafood risotto. It was NOT good. Not good at all. Tasteless and bland. So that was disappointing. No worries, I just had more drinks.  One of my companions had the suckling pig with polenta.  It was OK.  The other had the steak with the mashed potatoes.  (Also bland).   But we shared the fried calamari which was good.  They fry slices of lemon--- surprisingly interesting and tasty!

Would I go back: I would go back, but I agree with some of the other reviewers. This place is geared towards Euro types. Not "folks" if you know what I a mean. While we sat outside, on our way to the back garden we walked though the restaurant.  What a racket!  More of a party place than a nice dinner out.  Also I know that is this is a modern take on Greek food. While I get what they are going for, I prefer old school Greek.

WOW, I went there for an early dinner.  AMAZING.  The bartender was super nice.  It was quiet early on, it gets very busy.

I'm all about size and space and this place is high ceilings, windows, and white waitered staff.  WOW, I can't believe how big it is.

Went there one night before the place turned into more of a lounge. Great atmosphere, it's a great place to be on the nice spring and summer nights. Food was great, I would hang out for the appetizers and drink menu. I went for the lamb chops with lemon potatoes and spinach. Spinach was a little too over flavored but the rest of the meal was great.
