I'd eaten at the Cathay located in Menifee and was pleasantly surprised to see this new location nearby when recently I moved down the road.
As with the other location, I adore their cream cheese won tons and orange chicken. Every now and then I get a combo or rice bowl but usually I just order my orange chicken and the won tons. Cheaper and like the other reviewer said, they usually make a fresh batch when you do.
I tend to come in around 8PM or so during their last half hour of business but they never hesitate to whip up a fresh helping if I'm interested. Other than orange chicken, I've tried the garlic chicken, Hawaiian chicken and sweet and sour pork, all very good, just not something I'm in the mood for often.
Even when there are a lot of people the service is quick, extremely friendly, and always willing to give samples to help this poor decision maker out. The ample dining area is a huge improvement from the Menifee location, though I've only eaten in once.
I have lived here in the French Valley for the past 3 yrs. I've thought of trying Cathay but never did, after looking at the reviews I finally gave them a try. Wow all this time I have lived near really good Chinese food & didn't know it. This Chinese takeout is so much better than Panda Express!!! They're set up like Panda Express but that's where the similarities end. They also offer cook to order meals that are great, they're one of the only Chinese places that offer barbecue pork fried rice! Their Chinese barbecue pork is so good!! Their food is not salty like alot of Chinese takeout it's just very tasty!! Their prices are comparable to Panda Express but they give you alot more food than Panda Express does.
My husband loves this place but I would say the food is just ok. If you're really hungry for fast Chinese and are in the French valley area then this is the best option.. If not the only option. They give you massive amounts of food. That would probably be the best part. Overall it's ok if you want some Chinese fast and nearby.
They have good food but it's way better ordered ala carte. Ask for the ala carte and the owner will cook to order. I come here whenever I am in the Temecula area.
