Caterman is a wonderful catering company! They catered our wedding, and I have nothing but positive things to say about them. Erika Kellar was our event specialist and she was so attentive to everything we needed. She worked with our budget exponentially better than any other caterer we contacted. She also is QUICK in her responses to you!
Chef Rene was the head chef, and his food was so delicious! The staff went around asking all of our guests if they were happy with the food, and if there was anything they could get for them. SO. GOOD!
One of the things I love about them is their honesty (no hidden charges or fees), their attention to detail, their willingness to tailor their menu SPECIFICALLY to your needs/budget, and the personal touch they give to their service. They also allow the client to choose what they want to give for gratuity.
All in all, I highly recommend Caterman to anyone looking for a caterer. They are incredibly reasonable, and you get nothing short of amazing service and food. They seriously know how to go above and beyond. -

We had a fantastic wedding overall -- much in thanks to our wonderful guests, but also with thanks to the vendors we worked with. Of all of the vendors, though, I feel I have to review Caterman first. Here's why:
We planned a wedding over a relatively short period of time (four months). Caterman was the second caterer we talked to, but they won us over. From the beginning, we worked with Erika -- and up through the week leading up to the big day, she helped us: We picked out menus together, the linens, the tables, and even how and where everything would be arranged (meeting up with us at Hakone a month before). Our wedding reception was planned to be a casual brunch/lunch -- no formal seating or multi-course meal. Rather, we wanted to have hors d'oeurves and passed items. Our final menu consisted of a number of fancy-ish items, the tastiest of which included the spring rolls, turnovers (some with chicken curry and others with walnut and cheese), and cucumber slices with lox.
The staff from Caterman was there early, and wasted no time getting set up with little direction from us. The setup was beautiful, and better than we expected. Staff was friendly, always on-hand, and constantly cleaning up after guests. The chef, Rene, was fantastic -- he checked in on how we liked the food and even helped us wrap up leftovers at the end of the day.
Overall, Caterman was really impressive, and was very reasonable when it came to pricing. You're going to wind up spending more on catering than any other vendor for a wedding, and there's good reason why. However, Caterman really shined through. If any business deserves a YELP! It's Caterman!
I just got WOWed by reading their reviews and seeing their amazingly beautiful wedding arrangements... and here I was ready to write a RAVING review about Michelle & his crew for their OVER AND ABOVE service at our Company's Annual Picnics! haha
We use them every year. Even when we dont know what we are doing for activities or what DATE we will have our picnic. We KNOW Caterman will be a part of every event here at my company. I just love them! They have always beat me to the location and are already WELL on the way to being set up for us as I am pulling in... Last year when a co-worker didn't show up to help me set up the volleyball nets? Michelle's team said "NO Problem, Jessica! We will take care of it... Have a cookie and relax." OK! hee hee
Not only is their service top-notch but Holy WOW to the arrangement of the food! I'd say it's too beautiful to eat, but... It's TOO Delicious to stare! haha My absolute favorite are the Mozzarella balls and Cherry tomatoes on a stick that they put into a pineapple - it's an extravagent bouquet of YUMMINESS!
So give them a call! Choose them for your next event! & now that I've read these other reviews... I need to plan a wedding!!! =0)

Last night I had the best dream ever. It was my wedding day again. I couldn't be more bummed that it's over. All the hard work and planning definitely paid off. We had about 400 guests and all my dreams wouldn't have been possible without Caterman. They truly made my wedding what I wanted it to be. We worked w/ Erika and she was wonderful. From the first time I talked to her on the phone to seeing her at the event. We set up a tasting before deciding on a caterer and my mother is allergic to almost everything: wheat, eggs, dairy, certain greens, pork, and chicken. Basically anything that tastes good my mother is allergic to. So for our tasting they made her a special plate of food w/ everything she can eat. Then we had two site meetings to tour the facility. She was always on time and so easy to talk to. Everything I asked of her was performed w/o question and with a tone of "of course, it will be our pleasure" There was really nothing more I could ask for.
On the day of the event all the tables and drapery looked awesome and they even let my Aunt who was doing the centerpieces share their work space in back to prep. She even made some vegetarian plates for the few vegetarians we had and brought a special plate to my mother for her to eat. All of the wait staff that they hired was so nice and friendly. The food itself was awesome. We got three different passed Hors d'oeuvre: Chicken Pinewheel, Eggplant Bruschetta, and a Stuffed Mushroom. Everyone seemed to enjoy them all and they even brought us some on a plate to the head table to eat. For dinner we had a mixed green salad, roasted vegetables, tri-tip, salmon, and mashed potatoes. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their meals and the salmon was perfectly cooked.
The only bummer of the night I found out about later was one of our guests had a peanut allergy that they think was in the salad dressing. I let Erika know and she was very said and talked w/ their chef. There were notes in the order which I was told they are really good about following. I know mistakes happen and I'm very fortunate my guest was able to get the help he needed in time. Even despite this mishap I still love Caterman though and would use them for any of my future events. -

What can be said that hasn't been said already? We used these guys for our Staff Picnic and they did a great job!!! So much better then the caterer we used last year. All the food these guys did was excellent. My only complaint and it's a small one; we had Ribs, Chicken, Veggie Burgers and Burgers the veggie burgers and burgers were not homemade, but they were still well prepared and very tasty and the ribs and chicken more then made up for it, cause they were kicken.
As far as staff goes they were amazing and did a great job, getting things set-up and served on time. They were even cleaned-up and ready to go before we were cleaned up and ready to go.
These guys are GREAT! -

So, my wedding planning process was fraught with disaster at every turn. The wedding coordinator we hired quit on us a month and a half before the wedding, giving "California notice" ie, not returning phone calls and just disappearing. I had a dress disaster, makeup drama, etc.
Planning a wedding is stressful, and I couldn't believe how many vendors behave unprofessionally in the wedding trade.
Thank the GODS for Caterman, and thank sweet Ganesha for Gomi Kamboj, our Caterman event manager that took over for the flaky wedding planner and hit it out of the park. He is organized, personable, and does not break a sweat in the most stressful circumstances.
The food was great (although we did have to micromanage the chef, Rene, a sweet, sweet man with very strong opinions, a teensy bit,to make sure he heard us). The linens were wonderful. Gomi was on top of everything. I was extremely anxious and ripping my hair out, and this guy was totally there for me and my family.
The tasting was a great experience. All of the people there are good people who care about customer service.
The menus were awesome to choose from, we had a great time picking out the food, and would love an excuse to have a catered event just to try all their other spreads. They can handle pretty much any ethnic cuisine-and this is coming from a total food snob in a family of food snobs.
Presentation was gorgeous, and they managed to work well with every other vendor we hired (and did not push their own vendors on us).
I can't say enough good things about Gomi, either. Ask for him before he gets hired away or starts his own thing. =) My maid of honor and I called him the "wedding whisperer".Comment from Abe C. of Caterman 7/13/2010

We ordered 60 people lunch for my company. They charged us $12.95 each which include BBQ chicken, kula pork, macaroni, garlic bread, and some grilled veggies. The chicken is not BBQ chicken. They just put BBQ source on top of it. The kula pork has no kind of Hawaiian flavor what so ever and it's very dry. Everything is so bland. More important is that wasn't enough food for even 40 people, but the bill was over $800. COMPLETELY RIP OFF :(

Caterman has that WOW factor. Michelle and the staff are fantastic!
I used to use Caterman for my company's holiday parties before the responsibilities of company events moved over to HR.
After contacting them for an event, Michelle invited a coworker and me for a taste test at their facility. This is something every catering company should do! The food was sooo good! During the party everyone raved about the food and we always ran out, although a few did complain they didn't provide enough food. Maybe it's true or maybe people liked it so much they went back for seconds!
The staff they sent over were a group of lovable guys! LOL! Yes strangely put but I find it is the best way to describe them! They were extremely professional, prompt and friendly. I never had any issues with Caterman. I would definitely recommend to anyone in need of an awesome catering company! -

Our wedding venue was 6 hours away from where we live, so it was very inconvenient for us to schedule meetings with vendors, etc. We had 2-3 Catering tastings before Caterman, and we were disappointed at how expensive it was and how much DIDN'T come with the price tag.
We didn't have the chance to have the tasting with Caterman, but when our friends went for us, and came back with positive reviews like how the tasting was free (when the other ones were 50-100 dollars), and they let us choose one appetizer, one entree, one dessert for the tasting for two people... we knew they were the one. Through the planning process they were incredibly flexible and they strived to meet our needs and were willing to customize.
We stayed within our ideal budget for our food (impossible with all the other catering companies we contacted).
On our wedding day, the food presentation was great. We had a dinner buffet, and guests could go back for seconds and thirds. We had servers that went to each guest table to pour wine for them (totally bonus considering we provided our own wine and it was buffet style anyway), we had the chef personally carve the meat on-site (impossible to get anywhere else with our budget)
I am almost certain they brought pitchers for us for free and ice too.
Everyone complimented on the service, and it was above and beyond our expectations. The food was lovely, and Michelle was very helpful in offering alternatives and different ideas.
I would highly recommend Caterman :)
Husband's notes: Excellent food and service at incomparable prices. I found the food very much to my liking, although after 5 months, the highlight that stayed in my memory was one of our main entrees, the Boneless Pork with Shallots and Port Sauce. They added a vegetarian entrée without changing our budget and quantity never became an issue. Also, the servers they provided were excellent, cups never stayed empty long and they served our wedding party so we would not have to go through the buffet lines. Somehow they managed to be magically invisible yet omnipresent, dressed immaculately, remaining attentive and classy. -

They have catered our corporate Quarterly lunches twice so far and we are anticipating the yummy food for our third event this week. Caterman Catering provided the catering for my wedding June 6 and I cannot say enough good things about the company. Michelle, the event planner, was very flexible and accommodating with me throughout the planning process. The event staff provided the highest level of customer service a bride could ask for. All my guests commented on the good food and the reception layout, which Caterman Catering helped with. My glass was never empty and knew my big day was in good hands with this Company.

Caterman catered the reception for my wedding back in February and they were awesome! Everyone loved the food that was served and our guests definitely went back for seconds. They're the most reasonable catering company in the Bay, but offer so much for the price. I already have 2 friends who want to use them for their wedding.

Caterman is fantastic! I recently used them for my mom's 50th birthday celebration. I was a little concerned about using non-Vietnamese caterers for my family party but the staff there proved to be so versatile in selecting a menu that would please the Asian palate. My relatives who are very picky about the food they eat raved about the menu and even asked about Caterman so they could use the company too. The staff was so professional and paid a lot of attention to detail. I especially enjoyed working with Vy. She's super friendly and knows what she's doing. I would definitely recommend Caterman to others.

We were married this weekend and used Caterman for the dinner. The food was fantastic! Most guests went back for seconds. They brought so much food, they had trays to send leftovers home with people (who were VERY happy to take them). We even had enough leftovers to enjoy lunch the next day! The staff were attentive, friendly and unobtrusive. They were always on hand to take care of any requests, the service was great. Many guests commented on how nice they were. It helps if you're organized and have a schedule for the day. That way they can just follow instructions and let you enjoy your party. Caterman also handled all our rentals which went smoothly as well. The total bill was also reasonable and they were willing to work within our budget. The billing was very clear and accurate. I felt they were very up front with everything. I was planning my wedding while working full time too. They were always willing to work around my schedule and accommodate me. I would recommend Caterman to anyone having an event in the area.
