Teena catered our Super Bowl Party for 40, and everyone loved the food--chicken sliders, chicken skewers with peanut sauce, taco bar, one alarm chili (veggie-style), and potato salad; we added a fruit salad. The food was great and abundant! Teena was extremely easy to work with, showed up on time, and set up. We'd do it again!

We LOVE Teena! We have been coming here for about 2 yrs now and the food never disappoints. This is definitely the place to be after drinking it up in Oakland. Or not drinking it up. Fried food fix.
The catfish is the only thing we order, it is to LIVE for. The batter is hands down better than most chain restaurants. The fish is fresh and the fries are so yum!
We took friends here on Saturday night after a night of debauchery and I think it was the best batch we've had. The next day, that's all any of us talked about. We debated going back Sunday evening, but decided on something green and non-fried.
The prices are amazingly reasonable, and you get fantastic service. Teena is the kindest & sweetest owner in all of Oakland.
Hands down best place to get your fried goodies on.

The owner of this place is a sweetheart. My friend had to grab some food so the bouncer recommended Catered to You as your go to place for a late night snack. If you're looking for a true hole in the wall, this is definitely it. There is no seating what so ever but since the crowd dispersed, we ate and chatted with the owner for a bit. The menu changes nightly so be aware of that if you're expecting something regular. My friend and I split the chicken nuggets and fries special which was reasonably priced. She serves it with ketchup and BBQ sauce. The fries had an interesting flavour to them.
I'm sure if I'm in the area again, I'll stop by if not to get something quick, but to say hello to the lovely owner.
She also does to go orders as well.
We were accosted by the owners of the adult shop next door. Oh Oakland, there is so much character in you. -

You've been drinking. Food is in necessary demand but that Uptown bar you're at doesn't serve it. Well, think of that awesome way those bacon dogs feel going down and imagine eating something just a touch healthier (in that it's more fresh) but no less savory. Get the fried catfish when it's available!
Teena's humble hole-in-the-wall satisfies on every level and the dame herself is an absolute sweetheart. Gotta give major respect to a one-woman operation who still manages to keep a smile on her face. Teena's part of the movement to revitalize Uptown and I even remember reading that she donated food and organized other restaurants in the area to feed 148 homeless people around Christmas.
If Mother Theresa cooked, it'd be something like Catered To You. -

For being a hole-in-the-wall cafe, its definitely worth finding, she is fair priced and super friendly... my favorite thing is her fries... and she caters... what more could ya ask for, great food, awesome and friendly service to boot... I would give more stars if I could

This place rocks when you are looking for a quick bite on your way out of Somar! They have a bunch of grilled/fried staples like burgers, wings, french fries etc. The wings were cooked perfectly and the fries were delicious. I will have to get them next time "buffalo-style" along with a burger on my next Somar outing. -

Catered To You really did cater to me!
Late in the evening, famished from a long day's work, I looked for something to eat. I stumbled upon this glorious hole in the wall after hearing such a boisterous crowd chanting "catered to you! catered to you!" Ok, so maybe they weren't chanting, but they might as well have.
The actual place is really small and a very good environment to really get to know your neighbor, but the lady that runs the place makes it work! She looked like a pro at preparing comfort food, while efficiently running her kitchen by herself AND still maintaining a level of customer service!
When I looked on the menu, I found one vegetarian option, but sadly they had run out. I asked if she could make me a regular sandwich with my likings on it, and she did! This was probably the highlight of my night! No one ever goes out of their way to make custom sandwiches anymore, but this lady did! It was a regular sandwich (mayo, mustard, lettuce, cheese, onions, tomatoes) with a taste that can be replicated at home; nothing too distinct that would place Catered to You at the top of my Food Goals List.
I don't know how expensive the bill came to be since my friend picked up the tab while I walked to Somar and ordered beers (PS: you can take her food to Somar bar). When I received my majestic basket of sandwich and fries, I really did have to close my eyes and savor the goodness of the spicey fries. -

Although this is a kind of a hole-in-the-wall place, man is the food great!
All this talk of fresh, you may be asking, how fresh can a sandwich place be? I can tell you from observation that the tomatoes were not cut until my sandwich was ready to be served! I wouldn't be surprised if she killed a turkey and a chicken out back right before she made the patties! That's how fresh this place is!
The turkey burger and the chicken sandwich were great tasting! The sauces she uses really adds her signature touch on every sandwich. The combination of sauces is probably illegal in 7 states, but damn! IT'S SO GOOD!
All orders come with a side of fries, and by "side" I mean a bucket-load. They are seasoned with her cajun seasoning and she definitely does not hold back on the portion.
This is a great place to eat before going to see a show at the Fox Theatre right down the street. It's great tasting, fast and affordable! -

Catered to you is a hole in the wall, with the best fries in Oakland.
Now, I'm vegetarian, but once, after a number of drinks next door, I ordered the chili cheese fries without really thinking about the fact that it would probably have meat in it... and MAN did it make me sad to be a vegetarian. Not because I didn't eat it (I ate it all, every last little juicy bit -- and there was a lot of it!), but because my conscience won't let me order it once a week, or, like, every day... I've been back and ordered the same thing, as my one non-veggie exception-guilt-trip, but next time I'll try the catfish or the veggie sandwich (my partner had the grilled veg sandwich, and it was fresh and exceptional-looking).
Basically, I LOVE having this place nearby! -

Crime, police and government corruption, apathetic leadership, ailing public schools, ridiculously high property taxes, tons of red tape for EVERYTHING....just a few of the problems that plague the City of Oakland. And with all these debilitating ailments...Oakland keeps on going. Why?
Amongst other things, Oakland has a heart and soul unlike any city in the world. That coupled with a core group of people surviving through generations that have an impassioned desire to see this city achieve the glory it should.
This tiny little hole in the wall epitomizes that heart and soul: warm and friendly owners and staff, delicious but simple food all priced reasonably. Its frequented by a diverse, educated and out-going crowd ready to befriend and pick your brain at the slightest inclination.
We stopped in famished after an entertaining Yelp event and got into a conversation about many things including Jill Scott Heron, the importance of caring for our elders and racism in America. My husband and I walked to our car and said almost simultaneously: "I love this city I really really do. And my goodness this Chicken Sandwich is GOOD!"Listed in: What I love about Oakland

My friend Tommy had been raving about this place so we swung by before a Chromeo concert at the Fox Theater for a quick bite before the show. This place is a hole in the wall and doesn't offer much. However that's all it needs because the woman behind the counter was funny, friendly & fast (the best three Fs ;) and the catfish we ordered was more than enough for 1 person and was freaking delicious. I will definitely return.

yum! this place rules.
Some friends and I just so happened to see this place when we were going to a concert, and had to try it. I was not that particularly hungry, but my friends had the fried catfish special, with corn bread, and collard greens. I had bites of theirs, and I have to say it was the juicy-est catfish ever. The collards were to die for, and I am not a huge fan of those.
The lady chef here knows what she is doing, is super friendly. The place is small- it is a kitchen. YUM, and I will definitely go back! -

The spiced fries bring me and my coworkers back for a fried food fix. I get the albacore tuna on wheat (simple but delicious) and my coworkers typically get hot dogs.
Teena is an incredibly friendly proprietor, sweet as can be even in the Oakland heat. I was excited to see she had "Sweet purtater" pie out today. Too tempting to pass up!
Even if the food wasn't great I'd still enjoy walking in to say 'hi' to Teena. This is the kind of business I hope continues to get support from the community. -

If you want a fast and quick meal, aka burger and fries, hot dog or hot link and chips or a chicken sandwich come here. The place isnt 100% gourmet but it will do the job.
The staff is pretty friendly and seems to always have a line out the door! I like the simplicity of the food and it doesn't break my budget. I think the most I have paid for a sandwich and fries or chips was 6-7 bucks. Not bad in this economy! -

catered to you is a true hole in the wall with a counter and no seating. the rest of the shop is an open kitchen. menu is very short and thru questions, teena johnson told me essentially everything here was either frozen or canned.
mr. stomach wanted something tasty really bad.

-cup of chicken & corn soup : pretty spicy & tasty
-and half turkey sandwich(7.50) though the turkey tasted cold, the 3 thick slices with the rest of the sandwich tasted pretty good.

I work right around the corner, so I stop in every now and then and order the chicken breast sandwich with a salad. My friend and I usually post up on the crates right outside and enjoy our meals. Teena, the owner, is friendly and knows Oakland. She cares about her customers and always suggests the healthy choices she has on her menu. Also, she stays open in the evenings when most of the businesses in downtown shut down. Gotta keep her small business alive in the wake of gentrification!!!

Walked by this place on my way to a show at the Fox and a lady was out front calling us in to get some grub. My friends and I were looking for a place to eat so it was perfect. She was super friendly and cooked the food perfectly. It was exactly what we were looking for. We went back after the show for more food! Great seasoning on the fries!

I was so happy to find a place that makes potato salad that is not sweet. I tried the fried Catfish and was amazed at it's deliciousness. I have never had Catfish this good before. You should check it out if you are in the area. She's only open on the weekends though.
