It may not be the greatest museum but it sure is pretty to look at from the outside...so pretty. Worth an inside look just to say you were here.
This museum is really small, only 3-4 rooms, and not terribly inspired. But if you're futzing around on Catalina Island, I absolutely recommend it. You'll learn a ton about the history of the place, including the origin of 'Moomat Ahiko' (don't make like you haven't wondered too on your way down Ocean Ave). There are great old photos of the stars and politicians that used to come to Catalina to get away from it all...and did you know the Chicago Cubs had their spring training in Catalina in a specially built replica of Wrigley Field in 1922-1942, 1946-1947 and 1950-1951? I think Mr. Wrigley is responsible for most of the initial preservation and development of the island. There is some boating paraphernalia, and a small store packed with moderately priced tzotchkes. It's located in the backside of the Casino, so you'll get to wander around that too. I think it costs 4 bones to get in.
