its the best deal on cheap pizza in miami!
pros..
one slice is like half a pizza at some places. dont order two slices, you'll be sorry (or have luch for the next day)!
cons..
the amount of cooking of the pizza varies quite a bit. check whats on the cutting table before ordering. if you like your pizza well cooked play it safe and ALWAYS order it "crispy".

lost a star for serving burnt pizza. not just my slice but the samples were burnt too? whats up… Read more »
I have had many a drunken night in this wonderful establishment, and that is not to say I don't enjoy the food just as much when I'm sober! The pizza here is so delicious - but the steak sandwich is also to die for. What to choose! And the portions are so hardy you really will die trying to eat both. I like to go with someone and go halfsies on the pizza and sandwich. I've heard the salads are also great, but can't say I've ever had one because why get a salad when you have all these other amazing things to try!
Just remember two things: it's cash only and please, don't be that guy/girl that stands by the sample tray and eats all the free samples. Don't get greedy!
Its simple really, if you like New York pizza, you'll like Cassola's. Its classic NYC style pizza that as you guys already know, is hard to come by in South Florida. For a long time this was THE pizza place for me and still, every time I pass it I think..."ooh, pizza sounds nice".
The service is good, self serve sodas (so you get to do that thing where you mix sprite with fanta or whatever else) and they even give out samples of their cheese pizza. They are also very generous with their toppings which I may be speculating, but is generally the sign of a great pizzeria. They also have fantastic sandwiches, I just don't get them that often because the smell of pizza makes my decision making a little biased
Overall, its a fantastic place. I wouldn't recommend it for dining out per se, but its a perfect place to stop by for a quick bite or for a late night stop on the way back from the bars. If you are remotely near this place, do yourself a favor and stop by. If anything do it for the free samples, I guarantee you wont be able to try one and walk out of there without a giant piece of their delicious Hawaiian... or peperoni... or cheese for that matter , no need to get fancy. I swear this is the last time I write a review when I'm hungry
I saw some else wrote how this was the last resort on party night and that about sums up the quality of the pizza.
If your main goal is to be as full of as much dough, tomato sauce and cheese as possible for cheap before you pass out in a drunken stupor - this is your place but the slicker than WD-40 grease from the pizza might activate your gag reflex or at least make praying to the toilet gods a little easier.
I would as soon drive 5 more minutes and go to Walgreens and buy frozen pizza ... maybe it warmed only by the hood of my car before eating their pizza again.
Casola's = EPIC FAIL.
This is some of the WORST food I have ever eaten in my life.
I didn't come here with high expectations... I had a long day from moving all my possessions into storage and was dead tired. As a result, my beau and I were ready to eat anything as long as it was hot and comforting. So, a pizza place seemed great.
Casola's is not a pizza place. It's where pizza goes to die.
First came the bout with the owner. The site has a coupon "free 2 liter with pizza order" which he refused to honor. Long story short, he ended up being curt and uncooperative.
We still ordered from here. We should have accepted the bad omen and left.
The pizza was REVOLTING. There was NO sauce?! What's up with that? Despite not having eaten all day, I could barely choke down the briney canned mushrooms and slop like overly oily cheese. The cheese on the pizza was congealed and thick, as if they compensated for the terrible quality by drowning the crust with it.
So I abandoned the pizza and sought refuge in a swiss cheese croissant sandwich. Sounded great, tasted terrible. The lettuce was bitter as all hell and the swiss cheese was disgusting.
It's not cheap pizza either. Again, this is by far the WORST food I have ever eaten. You couldn't pay me to consume this garbage.
This is usually a last resort spot like when you are driving home from a late night party that had little, no food or just bad food and thoughts of Taco Bell or anything open comes to mind. Like Taco Bell and all other fast food, expect to come across the weird and over weight people. However, this old Miami staple has never proclaimed healthy eating.
I love the enormous slices of pizza and the fast service. So fast, you only get a chance to have a bite or two of the free, fresh and warm samplings strips of cheese slice. WARNING, AVOID THE MUSHROOMS, I believe they are canned. I am a huge fan but this thick, slimy, rubbery version of a mushroom will gross you out, believe me. Stick to the good old reliable thin slice of cheese with an ok crust and you'll be glad you did.
there's only 2 types of people in the world: chicago pizza lovers and NY pizza lovers. that's what it comes down to.
question is: which one are you? do you like deep dish pizza or thin & crispy? if you're like me, and are more of a NY pizza kinda person, then guess what? CASOLA'S is for you!
casola's pizza is thin, crispy and perfect. wanna know something else? you don't have to be intoxicated to think it tastes good, because it really does taste good.
This place is an automatic answer to late-night munchies and hunger. The pizza slices are outrageously large. They actually taste good too. If you come in to the restaurant (they also deliver) there are always pizza strips to munch on while you wait.
This is an every-man's pizzeria, meaning that you get all kinds of folks in that place. That is part of what makes it good. A freak eating pizza next to a grandma and both of them happy to have that cheezy slice going down their pipes together.
No excuses, make it happen and get a slice at this place.
I'm a little torn, I would put Yay, I'm a fan! they're good, but they're not that good. If you're looking for gourmet Italian, keep looking. They do stay open late, the prices are cheap and they feed you while you wait.
The pizza is good, no denying. Can be a little greasy, a quick blot with a paper towel can take care of that. If you're not sure, you can stand around and they cut slices of pizza into little pieces for you to nibble on while you wait for your order. (Great marketing gimmick) Beware of their salads, they're huge!! I ordered the tuna salad a few times and had leftovers for days. They pile on about 3 or 4 huge scoops of the stuff.
Casola's has been around for a while. The locals know it and love it. It's a great place for the late night food hunters. Pretty good location too, being just off of US 1, so if you're headed home from South Beach or downtown or anywhere and you need a little junk food. This is the place.
Believe it or not, I think tasty and well priced pizza in Miami is actually tough to find. For this reason I love Casola's!
The pizza is made fresh, thin crusted, and just perfection! The pies are huge so you can feed a small army on a budget, at work we splurged one day and ordered extra large pies, we ended up eating leftovers for 2 days!?!
Another great selling point is Casola's is always open super late, so you can drive by for those late night munchies after having a few drinks somewhere...
Tasty, well priced and reliable.... not to mention a neighborhood staple, may they never tear that place down!!!
Ok, I was drunk last time I ate food from here. They botched my last order, but thankfully credited my next order. Nonetheless, the pizza just ain't that great.

What happened to this place?
I remember this used to be my last stop before going home on a Friday night after drinking too much at the Grove(when the Grove was actually cool). The pizza slices were huge and delicious. A regular cheese pizza would his the spot everytime out. Cheap, good, and fast.. The staff has always been rude but when you are paying 2 bucks for bad ass pizza who cares!
I have now noticed that they have switched to cheaper ingrediants. The cheese has no taste and the pizza sits in my stomach like a bowling ball. My last three visits to Casolas ended up being visits to the bathroom shortly after. Sorry for being so graphic but the food has really gone down hill.
I cannot believe that people go here. Its always packed and the food is sub par. To be fair, I am only judging the pizza. I stopped in once for a sauasge and pepporonit slice on the way to a friend's house. To this day, Casola's is the only slice of pizza I have ever not finished. Calling this stuff pizza is an insult. The crust is chewy, the sauce seems off/missing, the cheese is cheap, and the toppings were not good. I took two bites and instantly threw it in the garbage. That is were it belonged.
oh Casola you old reliable. I can't even count how many times I've been to Casolas or in what condition, but I can remember that they have the best pizza in Miami.
The best part about ordering pizza at Casolas is eating the free samples while you wait for you're order.
Well, I've tried their pizzas and their sandwiches. (Haven't tried their ice cream or gelato, but after trying the other food, my expectations for the desserts wouldn't be too high.)
Large quantities of cheap but not very good food.
A great choice if you're hungry and don't care too much about how good what you're eating tastes so long as it's filling (ie, great for drunk college students or moms with large broods of kids and the kids' friends).
But there are much better choices if how the food actually tastes matters.
Take this for what it is: a pizza and sub shop.
The pizza is good as long as you stay away from the mushroom. The mushrooms must be canned, and added to the cheese just makes this weird, extra thick layer of not-goodness. Plain cheese is pretty solid. As other reviewers have said, slices are huge (one slice is literally two someplace else, keep that in mind when ordering!).
The best thing about this place though is the cheese steak subs. Really delicious. If only Miami folks used wet hots life would be perfect - I get mine at the store and add it to the subs later.
I love Casola's larger-than-your-head slices! Maybe I have a less sophisticated taste for pizza but I think their pizza is great! I am easy to please; I'm a cheese-only type of gal.
I love their thin slices that are easy to fold and dripping with pizza grease! (Only the best pizzas are dripping with cheesy grease!)
I've ordered from here multiple times and I have never been disappointed. Just make sure you have cash or you'll have to use their ATM. (How convenient for them.)
wow cant believe i had never reviewed casolas.. one of my fave childhood places since my grandparents lived 2 blocks away!!
last week i stopped in for a late night pizza with my old college roommates.. ahh to be 19 again...
a slice of cheese and soda was about 6 bucks, so not exactly cheap but fair considering you get free refills and the slice is huge, really equivalent to 2 slices somewhere else.
the quality has gone down a bit but its still a great place to stop in for late night munchies.
Well it's the most infamous day if the year 4/20 LOL and let's jus say the crew an I wanna grab a bite to eat. While heading to the grove we see a small but lit pizza sign do we pull in to the parking lot for cosolas.
The spot is full of action families church group even a few other up to no good kids like ourselves. After studying the menu I see reasonable prices an order a cheese dlice an a drink. Thank god I had cash since they dont take credit cards. After a 5 min wait my number was called then I gazed upon the biggest slice of pizza I've ever had. I'll post a pic up so u can see !!!
All an all fast service good prices can get crowded fast but worth it !
I am never disappointed with Casola's. Whether my friends and I go there to eat some late night pizza as a sure fire way to deliciously sober up after drinking or getting delivery. Casola's is always so good.. They have subs and pastas but I never have had to venture past their bomb cheese pizza and chicken wings. There just hasn't been a need for it. My absolute favorite pizza in all of Miami. If you ever go to the restaurant be ready have cash, as they only accept cash. There is an ATM on premise if you do need it.
I thought I reviewed Casola's awhile back and wanted to review again. Searching through my list, I see that I haven't. Awhile back I would have given them a 4. These days, not so much.
Stopped by there yesterday for a late morning lunch while caching in the area. Ordered a slice of pizza with onions. I haven't had onions on a pizza in a long time and kind of had a hankering. FoodMuse wanted a slice with tomatoes and mushrooms.
Received the slices and was HIGHLY disappointed. My slice had a huge pile of roughly sliced, barely cooked onions and FoodMuse had slices of barely ripe tomatoes and canned mushrooms.
I don't know about you but I remember pizza onions as being finely diced and caramelized onions. Furthermore, mushrooms on a pizza shouldn't be from a can. Slice them fine when fresh and toss on top to let them absorb all that milk-fat from the cheese and get yummy.
I wasn't all that impressed with the crust either. It seemed dry and listless.
I've been told that Casola's sandwiches are always very good too. Seems like everytime I'm there I can't stay away from the pizza. Maybe I'll give them another chance and try that next time. I'll give them another chance just because but will be on guard for mediocrity.
yeiii ~ i love casola's!!!!!
Hadn't stopped there after a night out in a long time, and we stopped last night. The slices have gotten a tiny bit smaller, which is great in my opinion.
I had the cheese slice, Em had the pepperoni slice, but they were cutting up a Hawaiian for people to try - OMG - so so so so good!!! Em said he'd try to remember to order that one next time. We don't go often, but I have a feeling we'll return soon so he can order it. Tons and tons of pineapple and ham, not just a couple of pieces here and there. GOOD!!
I've also had their subs and salads there. Everything is pretty good. I really love their salads most. The portions are huge, and they come with their delicious garlic bread - mmmmm!!!
There's sober pizza, drunk pizza, and every time pizza - this is definitely every time pizza.
It just keeps on getting worse. BOO...
Portions tinier, pizza dripping in grease, and service dismal. Prices? Keep on rising. For what I pay here I would rather go to a sit down restaurant where the waiters at least pretend they are happy that I am dropping a hard earned dime there.
I respectfully believe most people love Casola's still because they remember what it used to be, not what it has become. I used to love this place.
Plus remember when you are thankfully looking at the ATM because you forgot cash, they charge AN ARM and a LEG to take out money. So you are adding another $2.50 to your bill.
Never to return.

It really bothers me that a place that is already succesful chooses to rest on its laurels and allow service and quality to slide because they already have a corner on the market !! Big Mistake Casolas !
Went back today for lunch - gave them another chance despite my repeated bad experiences ...
Nah - they just don't care- prices keep getting steeper, portions keep getting smaller and service is OK -
The thing is ... we remember when this place used to be good and we hold it to that standard -
Come back Casolas ....we miss you :(

Pizza is top notch. U definately want it rebaked to get the ny into it. But comeon the steak & cheese subs ade the best in mia. Meatball sub is quite fantastic. The tuna salad is very good as well.
I have mixed feelings about Casola's.
The pizza, at its best, is 4 stars of tasty ooey-gooey-cheesy-mess! At its worst: a disgusting heap of soggy mess.
The roast beef croissant sandwich at its best: flaky, crunchy and hearty 3 stars of goodness.
At its worst: Gristle between two oily thin sheets of phyllo.
Inconsistent but usually better than bad.
A cautious 3 stars.
Have you ever been with a group of friends trying to figure out what place you want to eat and someone mentions a place that makes you feel queezy? For me, it's Casola's.
I think it's the memory of all the times I've eaten the greasy, tasteless, rubbery slices that make me sick. I think the pour the same grease on their sandwiches, because they are pretty slimy too.
Why two stars then? Because every once in a while I grab a sample piece they just cut and it reminds me of when this place used to be much better.
This place survives because it's open late and fast, and I doubt the drunk club goers really can taste anything anyway and the cops that frequent the place lack the time or imagination to go anywhere else.
One redeeming factor: the food makes a great laxative.
Oh how I wanted to love you so...but you failed me every time. Your colossal sized slices were just not enough to be your savior. :'(
What others have been saying about this place is completely true.
I do remember my first visit was memorable with a huge slice that came with a good taste. Now it seems the pizza has lost something. Other than the size, there wouldn't be any other reason to go. Better slices are elsewhere. BUT, you should try it at least once.
And what in the world is the deal with cash only? It's even more ridiculous that it's been going on for a long time while i'm sure they get a percent from that ATM machine in there. Thats just bad business.
Everything here is greasy... really greasy... pizza is ok... i usually only come here if its late at night... so its either Casola's or McDonalds drive through... sometimes McDonalds wins out!
another thing, if you want to eat in, this palce is really loud... i usually leave there with a migrane...
cash only = lame
Late night, last minute, larger than life pizza.
This place is well known as an after partying gathering spot for ending the night on a familiar note, munching on huge slices of pizza.
Casola's, is a must for everyone the place is noisy, crowded, and only takes cash. Still, there is an overall old school, neighborhood authenticity to this joint, you'll find families dining here during the day and large groups of revelers late into the night.
While you're placing your order you'll see a lot of people eating samples, so go ahead and grab a few pieces wile you wait. Get a stack of napkins for your table, trust me you'll need it and assign someone the first refill round of duty.
Great for quick take out at lunch time, usually packed though,so patience with the crowd. The pizza is very good, and their sub sandwiches huge, and tasty.
The worst pizza I have ever had.
The worst other "italian" food I have ever had.
I can't imagine why anyone eats here.
This place has been around forever. The first time I came to Miami was in 1989 and Casola's was there. It's a reliable source for late night pizza, subs, sandwiches, etc. I don't have an explanation, but for some reason the pizza is only good when you eat it fresh and right there. If you try ordering the pizza, it can be pretty gross. I think the greasiness of the slices ends up congealing on the way to your house or something and makes it kinda nasty. If I order from Casola's, I get the philly cheese steak sub because it's actually one of the best Phillys I have ever had. Put some ketchup on that thing and it's good to go. The pizza is good when you dine in though. A little greasy, but a slice of pizza that does the job. They also have things like Baked Ziti, salads, subs, french fries, etc. The delivery menu is pretty extensive and can take care of most cravings.
Casola's has been a staple in my pizza eating for almost 20 years. I've seen this place grow over the years from a small sub and pizza stand to the full restaurant it has become. It's a great place where I almost always run into someone I know. If you like pizza by the slice (These slices are HUGE!), then this is a place you have to try. They are open late night and right off of US1 South -- great location to stop after partying on Miami Beach and heading home. If you're really hungry, try one of their subs or a calzone, or some of the gelato they sell. They don't take credit cards, but they have an ATM inside.
1 slice = 3 slices. Enough said.
No, I was right the first time. It's pretty flavorless. I'm sure their pizza was good at some point. There is NO flavor in the ingredients they use. I'm absolutely sure if it. Hate to say it, because I favor local over big chains; but Papa John's, P.Hut, even Costco has more flavor.
True the slices are pretty big here, but what's the point if you can't taste anything. : /
**************
Hmm..... maybe I need to check it out one more time. I wasn't that impressed. I've heard so much about the place too. I'm really not that picky when it comes to pizza. I mean, it's pretty hard to mess up. But the slice I had, didn't have much flavor. Maybe it was just an old slice. I don't know. I'm willing to give it another shot though.
I've only been to Casola's on late nights after partying and drinking...and let me tell you..nothing hits the spot more than a big slice of pizza after that. The slices are HUGE...one slice is good enough for a late night snack. The only reason I didn't give this place five stars was because the last time I was there I had a slice of mushroom pizza...and it seemed like the mushrooms they used were out of a can...and they weren't even cooked. I guess you have to try them to see how you feel about them...but they weren't for me...and I love mushrooms. I'll just stick to my plain ol' slice of cheese pizza
Two words, Spinach calzone!! AMAZING!
This is a "Must wear shoes and shirt establishment". The cop was there to strictly enforce it...or so I'd like to believe. The cops have it good if they can hang out here the whole time and get Casola's free pizza samples. Okay, so the pizza slices here are known to be gigantic and that's the only great thing about it. My $4 cheese slice had hardly any sauce so it tasted more like a cheese quesadilla. Forget about getting any toppings besides pepperoni. Your pizza slice will look like it went through the salad bar rather than the oven. The veggies toppings just come out looking raw and unappetizing. Plus, the red pepper and parmesan shakers were missing from the counter so I had to go a table with the MIA pepper shaker and ask for it. Awkward. Other things about this place: They have okay gelato. They also serve sandwiches. Beware: they are huge! The croissant sandwiches are the size of your stomach, maybe bigger.
