Very Yummy! Overall a great experience, minus waiting for a drink 5 minutes too long.

Cashions changes their menu everyday and we were grateful our waitress was very knowledgeable about the selections. We started off with the pork belly, she crab soup and butternut squash soup. We then shared the salmon, which was cooked Indian style, it was amazing... and the scallops.

We didn't have room for dessert, but I'm already trying to convince my husband to take me back for brunch.

Highly recommend!

Customarily, when I write a review, I attempt to assemble a series of coherent perspectives that culminate in a cohesive, if measured, account of my experiences.  This time, however, the fervor of my enthusiasm compels me to express a string of independent truths:

If you fail to enjoy Cashions, the problem is with you, not Cashions.

If you've ever received more bang for your buck, than you're Timothy McVeigh (and you're dead, jerkoff).

If you've ever had a better Manhattan in D.C., than it was only at Martin's.

If you think the best steak & cheese lives in Philadelphia (where I lived for 10 years), than you've never been by for the after-hours menu.

If you think it takes a pretty penny to get a hold of some fine wine in a restaurant, than you've never had the half-price happy hour.

And one last thing, if it happens to be on the menu, order the halibut.

I hadn't been back to Cashion's since Ann Cashion sold it.  Well, that was the word on the street.  Well, I went there for brunch.  Waiting in the line, and all that jazz.  I was sad, what I ordered, at the recommendation of the server, it was a burger of some sort - ostrich, buffalo? Buffalo!  I don't mind a big hunka meat for breakfast. But it wasn't seasoned. It wasn't good.  I almost want to say that it was so bland it coulda used ketchup! OH dear.

It didn't help that the server totally forgot to put our order in so after having waiting in line since 11am, then not being served almost an hour later (I was retarded and got there really early), we were chatty cathies but still, blaming it on the kitchen ain't gonna cut it.  Buddy, the tables all around us are eating.  Peeps that sat AFTER us are eating.  I've been in the F&B biz for over a decade before I joined the ranks of loons that try to save the world.  Just tell me that you forgot, I would have been more sympathetic.  There is NOTHING worse than working brunch.

BUT having said ALL of that, I want to give it another go.  I remember having a magret there for dinner a long while back that was just so good.  Am I rooting for a lost cause?  Should I just go to Johnny's? Just so damn far away!

Perhaps my hopes were too high, but this was a particularly mediocre brunch experience.

I ordered the Traditional Croque Monsieur with Ham, Béchamel, and Mixed Greens with pumpkin bread on the side. Before taking our order, the waitress made it a point to ask if we had any dietary issues she should be aware of. I gratefully acknowledged that I am lactose intolerant and would appreciate if the bechamel could be served on the side so I could control how much I used. I was politely told no.

I respect the right of the chef to serve a dish as intended, but why bother to make a fuss about your willingness to accommodate my needs if, in fact, you aren't actually willing to do something as simple as serve a sauce on the side? What would have been a non-issue became a point of irritation.

To top things off, my greens were significantly over-salted and my pumpkin bread dried out. I'm unlikely to return to Cashion's anytime soon.

We got there a little early, and chilled at the bar which was a completely diferent experience than the dining area - but equally great.  It had a really hip feel and the bartender was super cool and attentive but not pushy.

The dining area felt like it was a million miles away.  It was quiet and elegant.  The food was amazing (had the buffalo) and I'm heading back next week.

I'm vouching for this place.

While I'm not the biggest fan of brunch, I have to say, I'd definitely return for those cornmeal waffles with raspberries and lemon curd.  Oh, and that bread was amazing.  But the orange juice was described as fresh-squeezed, but it tasted like they poured some tonic water in it (yeah, there were bubbles).  Next time I'll stick w/a bellini.

Cashions brunch wouldnt hold up anywhere on the west coast, but because brunches are so bad in DC, it gets accolades.  The potatoes in particular are dismal.  Its not bad, but its definitely not great.  Dinners are not as good as brunches.  On a price-weighted scale with no regional discount, this place is two stars at best.

Sweet place that I visited with the parents who had come to visit me in my new hood (b/c that's the only way I can rock the $$$ places). The service was really good and the interior is beautiful and calming. I enjoyed the crab appetizer (it's a pasta/crab invention) and so did my parents. Also, had a salad with figs which was yummy. The warm crusty bread they serve is amazing and they have a very comprehensive wine list.  My dad had the bison (whoa) and despite not being too keen on the idea of it (in the beginning) he said that it was cooked perfectly (read: bloody - which is what he wanted!). My mom and I ordered the curry shrimp. It was a bit sad because the shrimp had been overcooked and the taste ended up on the mushy end of things. Over all, I think that the shrimp mishap was an anomaly. I really enjoyed the evening and would like to go back!

I like this place-the food and service are good and almost enough to make up for the crappy parking situation that is Adams Morgan.

I wanted to start with the zucchini bread, but they were all out!  So I stuck with my coffee and went straight for the bison burger.  My friends opted for the grueyere omelette and the corn meal waffles--they looked fabulous!  We all liked our food.  My burger was flavorful and richness of the lightly poached egg on top really made the meat decadent.  So much for a "lean" burger--haha.  My one gripe is that for such a small burger, it was salted for 3x its size.  A friend had a bite and thought it was overly salty as well---easy on the salt people, there's more on the table!  The dessert menu was very limited and very season.  I don't happen to enjoy blackberries, so pretty much all options were out.

Our server was amazing.  He was polite, perfectly attentive--all coffee and water cups never dipped below 1/4 full before he came around with refills-- and most importantly, he didn't hover over us.  We were able to take our brunch leisurely and enjoy the breezy Sunday afternoon.  I wish I could remember his name because he deserves a shout out.

Finally a few words on decor.  Even though restaurant is in a warehouse style building, they fill the space well.  In fact, it's one of the homiest warehouse style establishments I've ever been in.  The walls are warmly painted and decorated with family pictures from their very own staff!  The mirrors give the illusion that the narrow restaurant is bigger than it really is and oddly still, you appreciate the high ceilings for the circulation rather than feeling dwarfed by a lot of empty space.

Probably tied with Cafe Bonaparte for my favorite brunch place in DC.  Just a short walk from the Woodley Park metro stop and a nice patio for people watching on Columbia.  Service was great - not overly friendly, but definitely on top of things.  You'd think they flogged their employees for letting the water glasses get less than half full or something - they were at our table with the water pitcher constantly.

Kevin L. has a great review describing the deliciousness of their bison burger, so I won't repeat everything he's said.  Just go, order the burger, and enjoy a lazy Sunday brunch.

I had dinner here last night for the third time, so I believe I am well overdue in writing a review. Just as a bit of background, the first time I ate at Cashion's I was nearly shocked at how good it was. All of it. Everything. At the end of the second dinner, all I could think about was how hungry I still was (not good).

I was a bit reluctant to try it again, but it was a beautiful evening, and we managed to score one of the half-inside, half-outside tables right next to the huge open windows; this was a great start.

As I perused the menu, I was having a bit of a hard time making a decision, mostly because nothing was really jumping out at me. I decided to ask the waitress for a recommendation, and she delivered. She was so knowledgeable about every offering, and not in an "I had to memorize and regurgitate all this shit" kind of way. She knew exactly how everything was cooked and why particular ingredients were paired with one another. When she said that she did not care for something on the menu, she caveated her statement by adding that she did not like the food itself, not that she did not like the Cashion's preparation and presentation. This type of honesty is what I would expect from an esteemed establishment.

I decided to start with the fried soft-shell crab appetizer, which was good but didn't blow me out of the water.

My main course was another matter, however. After much back and forth, I opted for the pork stifado with gnocchi and feta. I initially assumed that this dish would be too hearty for a balmy and breezy evening, but it was unbelievable. While all of the ingredients are more on the savory side than the light side, they composed what seemed to be the perfect dish on the perfect night. I was ever so happy that I did not order the $32 fish.

I didn't have dessert, as I was aiming to try Pitango, but I certainly had room for it. My biggest complaint about Cashion's (as has been reflected in many other reviews) regards the portion sizes. Look, I don't eat THAT much, but I do not want to leave a restaurant hungry. This is especially true when the prices are so inflated. This time was better than the second time, where upon leaving the restaurant I think I was actually depressed. I felt like someone had just stolen my lunch (and my lunch money). If I am going to pay for a $30 dish, give me $30 worth of food.

All in all, I really like Cashion's. The service is top-notch, the ambiance is lovely, the music is perfect (last night: Otis Redding), and the food is mostly outstanding. I just wish there were more of it.

Cashion's had been on my bookmarks for quite some time - particularly for the brunch experience - however, a friend and I accidentally stumbled upon it and decided to give it a whirl.

We arrived around 2pm on a sunny Sunday afternoon.  The brunch crowd had thinned out considerably, but they were still offering the brunch menu.  We both elected the blueberry waffles to lead us to gastronomic satisfaction.

When the waffles arrived they looked delicious.  In fact, the generous portion was artistically arranged on our plates with butter, powdered sugar and syrup.  Mmmm.  So here's the first bite...oh...uh wait a sec here...I'm having trouble getting my fork to slice through...seems a little...grrr...tough, eh?  There we go, okay and now the first bite.  Yeah, alright...nice flavor, but these are tough because they've been sitting out for awhile...probably under a heat lamp...or perhaps zapped in the microwave?  Kind of a let down, frankly.

The patio dining was nice, the staff was quick and friendly (particularly since they didn;t actually have *cook* anything for our order...hmph!) and the location is in trendy Adams Morgan.

3 stars - I guess you should go early and battle the crowds so your food is fresh and warm.  It'll probably be pretty good.  My experience earned a 3 though.  Happy Dining!

I went to Cashion's with the folks for brunch this morning and it was overall a "meh" experience.  First off, they have a very limited menu with only 2 veggie options - an omelette and some waffles.  Besides that, the mimosas had an insultingly small amount of champagne in them and they had no other exciting champagne options like bellini's (peach nectar), which I feel is necessary if you are trying to put on your gourmet brunch face (as Cashion's appears to be trying to do.)

Also, the portions were kind of small and the presentation was uninspired.  That said, the food was pretty good.  The waffles were excellent.  Overall, I would not even think about coming back for brunch with so many good and less expensive options in the vicinity (Bardia's New Orleans Cafe being my personal fave.)

Not being from the local area, we chose Cashion's based on other's mostly rave reviews, so we left there very dissapointed when neither our food or service was worth the high price of dinner.   We went at 8pm and the restaurant was almost empty but they were already out of items from the already limited menu.  The crabcake app was excellent but there was barely enough for 2 bites, let alone 2 people.  Our meals were fine, but not satisfying.  We knew this was not going to be a place with huge portions but when the taste was just so, so, it left us wanting more.   Perhaps we should have stuck with something safe away from home, like Ruth's Chris down the street.

Review based on brunch only:

We got there early and lined up outside the place to snag an outdoor table (success!) - the music wafting down the street from Perry's drag brunch kept us entertained while we waited.  Service was friendly and efficient, and the food was really good and perfectly portioned (not so much that you immediately wanted to go back to bed, but not skimpy).  I had the spinach omelet, and it was fantastic - light and flavorful.

My one complaint (and it's kind of a big one, for brunch) - the bloody marys were weak and not spiced.

I'd like to try dinner here sometime - have heard good things.

Cashion's was my brunch spot a couple of weeks ago, and I left feeling full and pretty happy.  I walked past Perry's on the way ... sorta made me wish we had chosen to go there, but Cashion's did the job in the end.  We were seated immediately when we arrived (bonus) and got a table covered table in the big, open window (bonus).  However, the host was the end of the good service.  Our waitress was SO slow!  And I'm not just saying that because I was really hungry.

The food was nice - I had basically a spinach and mushroom omelete, which came with some yummy potatoes.  I ordered a side of bacon, which was really big - I think there were 6 strips.  I might recommend splitting this with a friend unless you want all the cholesterol for yourself.  My friend had cornmeal waffles with yummy yummy pecans and apples.

The brunch here is good, but the service was too weak to make me want to return the next weekend.  It's a good spot to have in the weekend rotation, though!

Went to Cashion's last night with some friends for a birthday dinner.  They were very patient with us as two of our group were delayed by 40 minutes - but once we finally did order, our food came quickly.  Everything was delicious, beautifully plated, and portioned appropriately.  The five of us shared three appetizers - wild mushrooms with Tuscan liver sauce over artisanal polenta and rosemary, grilled quail with summer savory, Escarole, fingerling potatoes and a grilled onion vinaigrette, and a leek and dodonis feta tarte with "lamb-cetta" - all were flavorful and complex, but not overwhelming.

For dinner, three of the five had the Muscovy duck breast, and one had the ribeye - I didn't try any of them, but everyone seemed really pleased.  I had the mezzethakia spreads and the sweet potato soup with ancho chile - delicious and filling - just the right amount of food as I'd accidentally eaten some french fries before going out.

I can't believe that we had room for dessert - but between the lot of us, we tried the napoleon with mango and rosewater cream, the loukomades, the toasted almond ice cream, and the torta di noci.  And then we were rolled out of the restaurant, but not before paying our $400 bill (well, $350 after a very generous "industry discount" given to one of the group, who was a friend of the owner).  Oh, did I mention that we had cocktails and also two bottles of wine?

On the whole - a really lovely dining experience, but way too pricy for my tastes - most entrees run over $30, and that's before you get wine or an appetizer or dessert.  Go here if you have generous friends or parents who want to treat you for your birthday!

Excellent experience! Dined with JP and two friends and service was excellent, meals were delicious...I ordered the ling cod and it was cooked perfectly, and they have a decent wine list with a variety of offerings in several price ranges.

We started with the trio of Greek spreads and they were good once we were able to get someone to deliver bread to our table. Apparently it's not a given that if you order the spreads you also get bread! Our server quickly corrected the problem and we were on our way to some creamy goodness.

I ordered the mixed greens to start and the dressing was light and flavorful (I believe it was a champagne vinaigrette).  It was a decent sized salad but I managed to finish the whole thing. Tasty.

Our waters were always filled, which is a big deal for me...I like my water!  We probably didn't need the second bottle of wine, but that was our own fault.   I also liked that they called us to move our reservation up when something became available at an earlier time!  +1 for that alone!

Waffles. MMM, waffles!!! I drove my lazy self to Adams Morgan on a Sunday just for these supposedly delicious cornmeal waffles (what?! cornmeal??!), and it was totally worth the effort.  For $12, you get a plate full of waffles piled atop sweet apple "sauce" (more like pieces of stewed apple) and crowned with a generous helping of pecan better (this part looks a little iffy at first glance, but once you've tasted it - all doubts are gone!).  It comes with good maple syrup, and I added a side of tasty smoked bacon - though for $5, you get four slices of bacon, and this would probably be enough for two people.  My friend got the omelet, and although I didn't try any, she seemed to really enjoy her meal.

I think the waffles were really Five-Star material, but unfortunately the service wasn't quite up to that rating.  Our server seemed strangely unconcerned by the fact that my side of bacon didn't come out with the other plates, and only did anything about it after we'd asked twice about it and I'd waited a good 5-10 minutes.  She also took forever to bring our check, but then maybe she was just running on Sunday time - I suppose I should cool my jets, right?  In any case, I wasn't overly impressed with the service, but we did get a nice table halfway out on patio without any wait.  We got there at about 11:45 (brunch starts at 11:30) and there were still plenty of tables open, although the outdoor seating went quickly.

Writing this has me all geared up for a second helping of those yummy waffles.  I'll be back for brunch again!

I guess this place has a fabulous brunch, but their dinner is ehhh.  The hubs and I went there for dinner last Friday night and were seated outside immediately.  Points!  Then came the bread basket.  Minus points.  The bread was dry and semi-stale.

We ordered the mezzathaki, which was OK.  The best thing about it were the warm olives.  Reminded us of the delicious olives in Turkey.  For dinner, the hubs ordered two apps:  the short-rib shepherd's pie (deelish) and the haloumi cheese salad (salty).  I had the beef tenderloin, which was fine.  Dinner ended up being 70 bucks without tip, which was really overpriced for such mediocre food.  We will probably not return anytime soon.

Went here for brunch and quite enjoyed the food. A little limited on the options, particularly for vegetarians, but everything is really good, so I don't know that matters too much. Prices were actually much more reasonable than I expected and service was friendly and attentive. I'm not sure Cashion's is a "Woohoo! As good as it gets!," but it's very good. I've been for both dinner and brunch and think dinner is more enjoyable.

The brunch only has a few options and they refuse to do substitutions, which I loathe. I wanted the pork hash with scrambled eggs rather than a poached egg and was told it wasn't possible. Like, physically impossible? Scrambled is easier than poached anyways! I subsequently wound up having an ordering crisis because nothing else sounded good to me, and eventually decided I'd get the hash with the damn poached egg anyways. (I think very little of runny yokes).

In fact, if I hadn't been here for dinner, I would rate Cashion's lower. The brunch service stunk and the food took forever. But the truth is that brunch tasted good and my dinners have tasted great. If it weren't so expensive, this would be my go-to on a night where I wanted nice food close to home.

The menu changes frequently enough that I'm not sure if suggestions will help, but I've had crab bisque (delicious but a little heavy), beet salad, and pork collar. The pork was good, but the best thing I've ever eaten at Cashion's was this little corn fritter that came with the pork. Holy MOLY! That thing was a mixture between a Cafe du Monde beignet, creamed corn, and the outside of a gourmet corn dog. If you could have ordered a side of those, I would have. And I would have eaten them all in silence... so as to not tip off my dinner mates.

I've also tried the waffles, bison hanger steak, and random things... Obviously nothing else remarkable if I can't recall it. Bison was good, waffles were so-so.

My final gripe about Cashion's is that the clafoutis dessert takes 15 minutes to prepare, but they don't tell you about it ahead of time. Like a souffle, I think it should be listed on the main menu or the diner should be told when ordering entrees. Hello?! Fine dining 101.

4.5 stars... but I decided to round up. Thank you Alicia G. for organizing a Yelp brunch outing! This place definitely lived up to the expectations I had after reading so many good reviews. I hadn't been out for a decent brunch in a while, and Cashion's left me fully satisfied. I was having a hard time deciding between protein or carbs... and while the cornmeal waffle sounded really tempting, I decided to keep it pretty simple... eggs over medium with bacon (excellent) and home fries (very tasty). I can't wait to come back to try the bison burger (which they sadly were out of).

Thanks to the generous nature of everyone at the table I was able to try some of two desserts... pear clafoutis and their banana and cream tart (whose proper name I can't remember). Both were amazing, though if I were eating a whole one I'd probably go with the clafoutis since it was a bit lighter and not overly sweet.  While the banana cream dessert was good, it was very sweet and I think if I tried to eat an entire one I would have went into hyperglycemic shock.

Though the place was pretty busy when we came in, the service was amazing. I don't think my coffee cup went empty for more than a minute or so. Plus, they didn't mind us sticking around for a bit after we were all finished while we chatted away. Definitely a great brunch place, and I can't wait to come back again!

At the start of our UYE brunch we were informed that they were out of the bison burger and the pork hash. In my mental review notes, I was prepared to dock a star for this. I mean, come on! The bison burger was practically the whole reason I planned this brunch; make mention of brunch to Kevin and he always blurts out bison burger and Cashion's. It must have been a sign when Kevin had to cancel that they would somehow not have his beloved brunch favorite.

But alas, I decided to keep the 5th star for them based on the stellar service we received from Dean. There were 12 of us in total and it was a good mix of old yelpers and new. I was skeptical about how well we would be serviced but I know not to doubt anymore! The service we received was impeccable.  We were each brought our drink fairly promptly and drinks were replenished quickly throughout the 2+ hours we were there. Our meals were also delivered all at once and nothing came out wrong or was missed and he made sure we were all content.

I had poached eggs with applewood smoked bacon. Oh yum. Yeah, it's basically the same as what I had last time - but the bacon is oh so good. I was hankering for some dessert and ended up with the pear clafoutis. A tad too sweet, but still  d e l i c i o u s.

Other yelpers seemed to be hungry still post-dessert, but I was quite honestly stuffed.

To sum it up, brunch + yelpers + Cashion's = perfect Sunday afternoon. Thanks for coming y'all! Stay tuned for the sequel so hopefully we can get this burger next time!

I've been here for brunch several times now, both times with a rather large horde of Yelpers.  Cashions has handled us with class and tolerance each time.

I drool over their Applewood smoked bacon....

As with everything at Cashion's, every item offered on the brunch menu is well thought-out, and perfectly prepared.  This past Sunday I had the cornmeal waffles, which were very tasty -- I love the slight corn flavor. The bacon is uber-bacon - the best flavor, perfectly cooked.

The service was spot on -- nobody was forgotten, and the waiter managed to maintain a pleasant demeanor despite our self-involved chattering.

You will be safe going to Cashion's for brunch.  But, you may want to call ahead and make sure that nothing crucial is off the menu, lest you be as disappointed as some of my co-diners.

Bacon.
BACON.

$5 for a side of BACON but it is applewood-smoked DELICIOUSNESS.

In brunches past, I've had the cornmeal waffles and the croque monsieur, both of which are delicious and are highly recommended. At last week's UYE brunch, we got violently shafted with regards to the bison burgers and the pork hash which were, sadly, what I had been eyeing on the menu. Instead, I had to settle for an omelette (Hen of the Woods mushrooms, gruyere, tomato coulis, sauteed taters), by which I was not particularly taken, although there was nothing bad about it per se. I suppose the omelette was just somewhat bland and ever so slightly overcooked. I think the mushrooms were overpowered by the other flavours, particularly the tomato coulis.

Our server was lovely and attentive, with his mysterious tattoos, and so was his coworker who did not serve us but that's fine because he was tall and lean and, um, attractive, so all he really needed to do was exist. The food was prompt, warm, BACONY and, despite what Ben might say, filling.

The coffee was hot, bottomless, actually quite good, and just what some of us needed (or rather, probably just me, but not because I was hungover).

All in all, I'd say Cashion's offers a genteel brunch experience with friends, family or significant others, rather than somewhere to shovel in some fat and carbs to sop up the residual toxins, and to awkwardly avoid bleary eye-contact with last night's poor decision.

I came here as part of UYE setup by Alicia G.  It was a brisk sunday and we came expecting to enjoy some bison burgers.  Unfortunately, they were out.  And they were out of the pork hash too.  Not an auspicious begining for our brunch.
With 2 of the choice selections vacated, I ended up getting the omelet with gruyere, mushroom. The meal was very good.  I also had 2 really good spicy bloody mary's.   I finished off with the pear clafoutis that was excellent.  The light nutty crust really accented the sweetness of the pear.
While the bison burger was missed, it was overall, a very good experience.  The excellent yelp company did help in that regard.  The server was very attentive and expedient.  There were 12 of us and we all got our meals hot and at the same time.  I'll definitely put this place on my list to visit again for dinner.

This place was fantastic.  I had salmon which is not something I would typically order at a restaurant (it can be a bit too mundane IMO) but I took a chance.  This was perfectly seasoned, and seared with the skin on.  I couldn't believe how much I enjoyed it.  Also my friends and I were sure that ordering French wine without knowledge of the particular label would end in heartbreak.  We are more likely to go with South American wine because the quality to price ratio is often higher than that for European or Californian wine.  Instead we went with a premier cru Burgundy and it was fantastic.  My friends enjoyed their entrees too.  Dessert was solid as well - we ordered three different ones and shared.  We were even 15 minutes late (parking in Adams Morgan can be a nightmare so we ended up doing valet) but they were very accommodating.  Seriously one of the best places I have eaten in DC.

Coming here for brunch, I wasn't sure what to expect. I've been hyped up on the bison burger, and was interested in that. So of course they ran out of them. I ended up ordering the cornmeal waffles with pecan butter, maple syrup, and apple sauce, with a side of cheesy grits. Well, the food was wonderful, if not particularly filling. Growing up in the pseudo-South, grits were available pretty much everywhere, and I never really understood the appeal. Seeing someone else with a plate, I decided to order them, anyway, since they looked different from the usual bland concoction I'm used to. And oh were they good. Savory with some nice pepper flavor and enough cheese to add some flavor without overwhelming it. The waffles were sweet with just a hint of corn flavor, and the butter and syrup toppings were delicious. The apple sauce was, well, apple sauce.

Service was pretty good, and I really liked the decor - classy, but casual, I guess. The music being played was nice, and I generally enjoyed the place, although it's a bit more than I normally like to spend. Still, worth checking out.

Sweetbreads lightly fried and tossed with Catalan spinach, pine nuts and currents.  AMAZING.  "Cretian" Penne made with olives and organ meat, a bit bitter, but still really good.  Hearth made bread to die for.  Squash stuffed with octopus and other stuff.  Meh.  Still, it was a nice dining experience and the sweatbreads made it really heavenly.  Funny :  I asked the waitress how they came up with the name "Cretian" and she said it was because it was made with tomatoes, organ meat, etc.  She could have just said, "that's how they make it on Crete."

I went her for brunch on Sunday with 2 friends. Luckily we had an astute member of our group, so we had a reservation and did not have to wait (although we arrived right when it opened and seating didn't seem to be a problem at that time).
I really enjoyed the decor of the place, even though it was bit eclectic. Lavender walls, exposed piping, and black and white photos of farm scenes...but it seemed to work!
Our waitress was friendly, but not overly attentive. Our water glasses were TINY, so they had to keep getting refilled, but they always were when we needed them to be (probably could save some money on busboys though by getting larger glasses).
I ordered the omelet, while my 2 friends ordered the bison burger. They were both surprised when the burger came out without a bun, and then we started guessing that maybe the bread they had served us earlier was actually for the burger, but as someone mentioned earlier, they were way too hard to actually chew without any meat, let alone WITH a burger.
My omelet was okay. A little too runny for me, but the tomato coulee was great and the potatoes were top notch!
I think I was enamored with this place within the first 10 minutes though when they played a non-mainstream Alicia Keys song. I know that's no way to rate a restaurant, but I think it definitely pushed this place from 3 to 4 stars :)

I went here when it was pouring out and they sat us right by the window to watch the rain falling, even without a reservation.  The wait staff was extremely friendly and they gave me a really stiff drink which always makes me soft to the restaurant.

I was here for dinner and the ambiance was quite warm.  I would go back in a heartbeat.

Cashion's is a solid brunch spot.  On the weekends, this little place can get packed but it's always worth it.

The menu is simple and not overwhelming like many other brunch menus.  On different occasions, I have tried their poached eggs, cornmeal waffles, and bison burger, all of which have always exceeded my expectations!

Yummers.

Cashion's serves delicious, comforting food in a cozy and intimate setting.  We started with the fried seafood, which I was afraid would be too greasy, but it wasn't at all!  Light and flavorful with just the right amount of batter.  The boyfriend had the bison filet which was good, but I sensed a little bit of that gamey flavor that I am not fond of.  He really enjoyed it, though.  I had the striped bass in a lump crabmeat sauce.  YUMMMM.  The fish was moist and the sauce was to die for.  The best part?  The potato croquettes!  I could have just had an entire plate of those and would have been happy.

Overall, a great dining experience.  Very friendly, accommodating, and attentive staff.  So why only 4 stars?  Dessert.  It was great, but it wasn't bad.  You can't win them all!  Add a chocolate cake or mousse to the menu, and I would give them that extra star.

I last ate here over four years ago and my experience recently was as favorable as back then.  The dinner menu changes daily and is already significantly different from when I ate there, however ingredients are interesting and fresh.  I had the rabbit which was excellent.  The other 3 at our table were similarly happy with their entrees.  The staff had no problem with one of our tablemates joining us quite late, and had his food out at the same time as ours.

This is a very active brunch place.  Make a reservation or plan to get there early to nab a seat on the weekend.  They make their eggs like my grandma does.  Scrambled with cream and butter. The waffles were toasted to perfection and the omelets were equally as good.  but the portions are way small to me.  I ain't expecting to gorge myself, but after droppin' 30 bux for a meal and you're still hungry?  something ain't right.

but the food does taste excellent.  It does at least make me wanna go back to try dinner some day.

Ehhhhh. . . . I thought it was just so-so for brunch.  First of all, there's only about 5 or so choices.   Today, it was:  eggs any style, omelet, pork hash, waffles, the famous buffalo burger, or something else I can't remember.  Personally, I like a little more choice/excitement.  I had the pork hash and it didn't really ring my bell, sad to say.  But anyway, on top of that, the service was a little lackluster.

I agree with others that the portions are small--but guys, if you're hungry, order more (order appetizers, side dishes, dessert, etc.)

That all said, I've had some lovely dinners here, especially when the weather is nice and all the doors and windows are open for a beautiful, sunny, airy feel.  I'll be back for dinner, but I don't know that I'd rush back for brunch.

Noise levels were good, very easy/pleasant for conversation.

Hate to say it, but...

I think that Tabard Inn may have just been replaced as my favorite late brunching spot in the District.

Yeah.  You read me right.  I can't believe it, either.  But after a phenomenal meal here with the crew, I've resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to have to haul my ass over to the AdMo and deal with the crapdiculous lack of parking in order to re-experience the wonder of this nearly-ideal dining establishment.

Walking in and finding the rest of the group waiting for us, we were seated almost immediately.  On our way to our table toward the back, we passed through most of the restaurant and had an opportunity to scope out the scrumptious other patrons of this establishment.  No shortage of eye candy here!

Our server was efficient, pleasant, and professional.  Not to mention easy on the eyes (according to my companions).  No complaints there.

When I ordered the bison burger with a poached egg, I was expecting a big ole' burger Richard C.-style.  Boy, was I (pleasantly) surprised when my plate came out consisting of a thick juicy patty with a perfectly poached egg on top and a portion of home fries... with no bun to be seen!

At first I was skeptical.  I'm not big on runny egg.  As soon as I broached the egg white with my fork and the yolk started oozing out, I questioned my choice.  Carving off a bit of the perfectly charred burger, I sopped up some yolk and scooped the mess into my mouth.  Pure.  Unadulterated.  Heaven.   The light char on the burger added crunch.  The yolk was creamy.  The burger was seasoned ever so perfectly.  Savory, but not over the top.  I'd ordered mine medium, but couldn't really make out any pink at all.  I didn't care.  I devoured it all, using the well-seasoned home fries to sop up every last drop of Bearnaise and egg yolk left on my plate.  HEAVEN.

After we'd all finished our entrees, our server came back to attempt to convince us for dessert.  Everyone being completely stuffed, we begged him to hold off while we digested briefly and he was extremely accomodating.  During the interlude, Laura and I were treated to a nice little seated-shimmy action by another patron on the other end of the restaurant.  Lunch and a show!

Finally, we flagged our server back to request a croissant bread pudding dessert (one of the two options that day) to split between the six of us.  I don't think we could have handled more.  Although there wasn't much to it, the richness and decadence of the dessert was plenty to fill the last nooks and crannies in our already-distended stomachs.  A perfect finish to a perfect meal.  Contented sigh.

Who knew that the AdMo had such hidden treasures?  Without a doubt, I'll be coming back to Cashion's for more.

I have no idea what took me so long to write about Cashion's!  It is easily my favorite restaurant in DC.  The owner, Justin is so welcoming, and the food is always amazing.  I have never had a bad meal here.

Cashion's is the kind of restaurant you can go to for big dates and special occasions, or just to grab a drink and eat from the amazing late night menu.  The wait staff provides exceptional service.  They are friendly and excited about the food they serve.

I am trying to decide which meal to rave about.  Last week I was there for
late night drinks and had a cheese steak that was heaven.  I have had sweetbreads that I still rave about.  I tried head cheese for the first time here, because this place wants you to feel comfortable eating good food.
Every time you eat here, there is something on the menu that is exactly what you didn't know you wanted to eat that evening.

I adore this cozy and fun restaurant!  Yay for Justin and the Cashion's staff!
