Yup. It's pretty much all been said. John is a super nice guy and he is providing such a special service for a great price. This little shop is magical - and so is his jpeg-to-rubber stamp technology, which will create custom stamps of pretty much any image you've got.
I had one of my drawings turned into a stamp 1.75 x 3 inches. It cost me about $40 three years ago, I've gotten tons of mileage out of it and it still works like a charm.
Also a great selection of pre-made stamps for cheap. If you are even remotely interested in rubber stamps this place is a must. -

Trust me, if you like rubber stamping, go see this guy. -

I bought a rubber stamp today from J.C. Casey; I've been a customer of his since he was over on Sheridan Square--that's about 30 years. He's the best; a few months ago I mentioned I'd like to see a shark stamp; well, today he had a page in his book of designs with sharks and orcas. He cut it out of a sheet of rubber and made a stamp on the spot for me.
I've been carrying a return-address stamp with me for years, along with the stamp pad; a lot of people remark, "What a great idea!" And it is: I've saved valuable time and have no need for the crappy pressure-sensitive labels PeTA and other charities send me to try and guilt me into giving to them.
Just a tip: with the current bedbug epidemic, J.C. now has a bedbug stamp! It's an actual-size bedbug, and you can get it for $3! Such a deal!Listed in: Damn, I love my neighborhood

Was walking by the shop a few years ago (midnight?), saw the light on and knocked. JC is very welcoming ~ at all hours ~ he even encourages the after-hours stuff! Bought six stamps and they are my all-time favorites.
Called him about 2 months ago with a few questions. He said he can't update the website "cause some college kid" made it for him and they're no longer in touch. Gave him a few favorite book titles (vintage images) and he got pretty excited. VERY accommodating, as stated in the other reviews - ask him and he'll make it for you. Just don't try to pay with a credit card!
Oh yea, cheap too! -

Who doesn't love a crazy Irish stamp enthusiast? Well I do, and I went to his wonderful store (right next to Odin) to satisfy my embossing needs. It's crazy inside, but he has a catalog with all sorts of unique stamps. I waited while he made mine...fresh, I guess. But I got some great stamps and I thought he was delightful.
p.s. He also claims there are gremlins that hide things from him...hmm...whatever. -

What a cute little gem of a store! I feel like I walked into the bookstore in A Neverending Story. A local restauranteur was having custom stamps made for his menu so my friend had to wait a while to be rung up for some stamps and ink, but as another patron (who seemed to be a friend of the owner and was just chillin) pointed out, waiting in the cramped space is part of the charm.

Casey is amazing, and this might be the best second date location I've ever found. Plus, you get a stamp for each new person you take out! its fun, there are tons to choose from, and its near a lot of other great restaurants (Casey and PDT is a knockout date combo).

This is a nyc institution and landmark. i wouldn't go anywhere else for stamps because of Casey's precision, customer service, quick turnaround and reasonable prices. I have been buying stamps from this store since the 1970s when I was a kid and the store under previous owners was in the west village. Please support one of the last true local businesses in this city!

I haven't been to the store or gotten my stamp yet but I've been doing some research for work & just put in an order. I wanted to put out there that Casey is cheaper and faster for custom stamps than The Ink Pad. And he makes it easier to get them made - just email your design and he'll do it in a day or two. Ink Pad makes you bring in a printout.

This place rocks! I love everything about it. It's not your traditional store, there are books of stamps everywhere, friends coming in and out just to say hello and odd business hours, but he does a great job with a fast turn around. I will be heading back for more...asap.
