5 reviews for Cartridge World
I had two laser printer cartridges filled. Actually I did not have to wait for them to be filled because they had them in stock. My savings on a cartridge for a Brother printer was about 30% over what the cartridge sells for in Office Depot. However the other cartridge was about the same price as one in an office supply store however I was told that it was a high capacity cartridge. I double checked this and it seems the CW cartridge capacity is 6000 pages while the original manufacturers is 2000. So I guess its a good deal because for the same price I get triple the pages (assuming their page count methodology is the same).
I noticed what the prior reviewer was talking about. The next customer in line behind me was returning an ink cartridge because it didn't work.
I normally get generic cartridges off of Ebay and never have had a problem in about ten years. On Ebay you save about half off of an office supply store (including shipping). But I needed these two ASAP.
Parking can be crappy here but there are a couple spots along School Street that conveniently are 15 minute parking with flashing lights.
UPDATE: Even though the cartridge I got was supposedly filled "double" compared to the manufacturer - they don't last much longer. I think the cartridge counts how many page are printed and stops at a certain point regardless of how much toner is left.
i brought in 15 laser cartridges to be bought by CW. After three weeks I go back in only to be told that my toner cartridges weren't worth anything and I would need to go to another store to pick them up. i called back only to be told "i will look into this and call you back by the end of business today"...were going 4 business days since any call back.
1. The guy working behind the counter was very confrontational.
2. They lack professionalism & follow-up.
3. THEY STEAL YOUR TONER CARTRIDGES.
My recommendation... by legitimate ink from a real store. It may be a little pricier, but at least they won't rip you off.
Quality of cartridges is pretty bad, but the staff is nice.
Second visit to this location:
I just got my Epson 1280 color ink cartridge refilled, and had to return the refill twice before actually getting one that my printer recognized. I think they forgot to reset the microchip on many of the cartridges, which causes the printer to think the cartridge is empty even if it is filled. It was easy to exchange the cartridges, just a waste of time to have to go back to the store so many times.
First visit :
The ink smelled funny. Every time I printed something, it smelled like really strong permanent marker. Maybe the ink was rotten, i really don't know why it smelled, but the prints looked fine.
Don't think i will be getting ink from this location again. I personally liked the one in the loop better for quality.
I love Cartridge World! I've been stopping in about once a month (I'm a teacher lol) for the past two years and have probably saved a few hundred dollars compared to what I would've paid at the Office Depot just down the street! Its right by my apartment so I can just walk in with a fistful of empties and walk out with replacements (they usually have them already refilled). The staff is friendly and if they don't have a cartridge ready, they can usually have one same or next day (I started calling ahead to make sure they had mine in stock - my printer is a dinosaur and the cartridge isn't very popular). If you're still buying these things brand new and throwing the empties away you're C-R-A-Z-Y.
OK, so here's the deal. Bring in your old printer cartridges and get a refilled one. The cost is a little above half of what you'd pay for a new cartridge from say, Staples. Great idea, you don't put the old cartridge in a landfill and you don't pay up the a$$ for a little ink. I love that. But, let the buyer beware! Refilled cartridges don't always work. I've been to this location 3 times for ink. Twice, I had to return for cartridges that didn't work. I'm fine with the concept, but wish there was someway to assure a higher percentage of working cartridges. They will give you a replacement gladly. The staff here is really nice. But if I have to use fuel, twice, to return for exchanges, what good am I doing for the environment? I like this place but...fuck
