Yay cartoons! I stopped off here before I left the museum and picked up some comics and cutesy stationary (yay snail mail). I also bought a 3-postcard set by a local artist. That's the cool thing about the Museum Bookstore-- they had tons of things to sell from local artists, most of those items in limited production.
If you ever decide to swing by, be sure to pop in the first of any month-- which is free comic book day! (Yes, they really do give away free comics-- sweet deal!)

Sometimes I go to the Cartoon Art Museum just for the bookstore. This might be one of the closest comic bookstores to SF BART.
Months ago they just updated their bookstore to include a lot more items. The great thing about this place is that it feels like it caters to public while still having good taste. There are many things crammed into this shop including comic books, cartoons, hardcover books, trades, art books, history books, how to books, dvds, independent, toys, postcards, etc etc. If you can't find something here your standards might be too high. The only problem I had is that some of their merchandise is a little "used" because of the number of people who roam through the store; however, most of the stuff is in good condition.
They also do a good job of working directly with artists to get content into their shop. Most often you'll find work from resident artists or exhibitors which is a good thing if you happened to miss a show or want something autographed.
A great browsing store that is a destination shop in its own right. It could possibly exist without the aid of the Cartoon Art Museum. This shop is just as big as one of their gallery spaces.
Formerly Foto-Grafix Bookstore, the *New* Bookstore is awesome!!
The new manager Heather has really turned this store into a destination that could stand on its own. The store now actually feels like it is part of the museum, instead of a failed marriage- it has great energy!! Every time I'm in, there is always new and fresh stock. I end up spending more time and money than I was expecting, but I can't complain since it's stuff I normally can't find elsewhere! She even offers a Wednesday discount on merchandise, how cool is that?!?
They have a large selection of books and merchandise that corresponds with current exhibits- they also carry new releases, local & indie, Manga, kids, DVDs, prints, and a ton of other stuff.
They are even talking about having artist signings and other events as she gets better situated in her space, I can't wait!!

I love the museum and I really love the book store that is attached to the museum. The bookstore has lots of comics and fun gift ideas. They have common comics and stuff that is not so easy to find in the city. One of the fun items I love is the Duff soda from the Simpsons and they sell that too. Lots of fun items and the staff is amazing. Heather, who helped me one day, was amazing and really cares about the store. She was extremely helfpul in helping me find some items and will also take suggestions on items to order for the store. She is a true gem. If you stop in, say hello to Heather.
