This is where I just bought my new couch. It was 15% off of $547 and it looked brand new -- not a beat up floor sample like some of the other sofas there. The couch retailed at $1300.
The salespeople will hold an item for you for a day. They deliver for $75 and they also have generous pick-up hours -- 8 - 4, Mon - Sat.
Since I was just looking for a sofa, that's all I can really mention. They had nice pieces at reasonable prices, but with lots of scuff marks from being stepped on or I don't know what. They also had sectional pieces with no matches (as well as full sectional units, too).
Another bonus is that this store is on the same block as the Crate and Barrel outlet and the Macy's furniture clearance center, which has a much larger selection of furniture and rugs and such. Definitely check that place out, too.
A lot of junky stuff. When Carsons has a sale or some other kind of promotion at this outlet, prices may be reasonable for what you get. They have some nice enough fabric couches and chairs here, but be warned that the style may be dated or it may be excessively groovy (cue any one of Barry White's finest).
Also, be sure to inspect any case goods carefully for damage. Most of them seem like they have been through the war and back.
You are better off checking the Carsons Furniture Galleries first. I hit the one in Schaumburg with my mom and she found a 3000.00 sofa for 750.00 in pristine condition. She also got a pair of gorgeous side chairs that were 700.00 for 175.00 each. Everything in store is in fabulous condition because it is still their regular showroom.
The Carson Pirie Scott Furniture Outlet and the Macy's Furniture Clearance Center are within a 2 minute drive from each other. Maybe they're both hit and miss but we were referred to the Carson's Outlet and didn't like anything there. We liked a few things at the Macy's Outlet. There was a much bigger selection.
I recommend this place for inexpensive mattresses, but most of the furniture is either scratched, dented or both. However, if you're good with repairs or applying stain, you just might find the perfect table. They hold occasional sale events.
This is basically a huge warehouse filled with various pieces of furniture from the normal Carson's Furniture stores that are either discontinued ro slightly damaged. There are a few good deals to be found here, but you will have to do a lot of looking around. It can be hard to find an entire matching set here, but if you're just looking for one piece here and there this is a good option. You may not find anything on your first visit here, but on subsequent visits something will surely catch your eye. A good place to do some bargain hunting!
